Legalshield is a untrusted company who will tell you they have all the right resources to help you through your current situations. Unfortunatley it's untrue. They will say anything for you to sign up and then once your committed, they can't help you with your situation. I can successfully say that I have had multiple people tell me the same issues.
They spend more time trying to appear legitimate than they do actually provide a real and useful service. They've been totally useless with every person I know who has used them. The attorney who got after review of a contract told us, "We'd probably be ok"...and then when we questioned them further they admitted they had NEVER READ THE LEGAL DOCUMENT. After 2 weeks they got back to us with the exact opposite answer they had given the first time. They gave legal advice on a contract without reading it. And I promise you they will spend more effort to quash any negative review than they will to fix that horrifying behavior. They BBB rating is a joke and a carefully maintained lie.

This business is trash. I've had more then one horrible experience, which span over 20 yrs. I will never return again. I had two serious issues and I had to hire an outside attorney to repair the issue. Legal Shield did nothing. I called the emergency line multiple times and was promised a call back, which never happened. Everything that was promised in an email wasn't completed or even attempted. They do not listen to you. They ignore your cries for help, I mean literally ignore you. After a month of headaches, the associate pretended like they were upset and would promise to repair it. So I trusted them, but nothing was done. I spent hours and weeks, three to be exact, on the phone, sending emails,etc,. But nothing was resolved. It was like a circle of continuous drama. Call this person, fax this, email that, oh they can't help you. Okay, do it again. It was crazy. What made matters worse was that I began to notice that the associate wasn't for me, but was just dragging me along. I felt used. They just care about the monthly residuals. I'm sure when I'm done, I'll get that lame apology. I've heard tons of apologies, but nothing ever changes. So save it. And I'm disappointed.

The trailer park is being shut down and we're being evicted even though we own our home. We called LegalShield and signed up thinking they would answer some of our questions about eviction and time and where to go from here we waited 3 days before someone got back to us they just referred us to somebody else who told us to submit documents and when we submitted documents it was another week after that before we had to reach out to the attorney and ask when they were going to call us about our case. They finally called later that day and gave us no information that the internet couldn't already give us and then I got this email..."As discussed, our firm's hourly rates range from $225/hr to $281.25/hr, which are our regular rates of $300/hr to $375/hr reduced by 25%. If you would like us to review the documents that you have provided to us and provide you an opinion, we would request a $843.75 retainer to bill against. If you would like us to be on retainer to provide you advice as you navigate your issue, we would request a $2,500 retainer to bill against. If you would like to retain us to file a lawsuit, we would request a $5,000 retainer to bill against."
We already have to buy land to move our modular double wide home out to. We don't have that kind of money to be paying for a lawyer who's not really even trying in the first place he wanted money up front before he would even look at our paperwork that we've already sent. They are a scam service who was praying on the poor and scared who don't know where else to turn to. I don't know who's more of a scam LegalShield or the attorney themselves

I was driving out-of-state and drove in front of a high school the moment school got out. At that moment, the speed limit changed and a cop was sitting there, waiting to catch someone. The officer ticketed me on the spot. I took a picture of the ticket and sent it to the LegalShield firm. I was in shock when a fantastic attorney showed up to appear for me in traffic court. I walked out without any points on my record, and everyone was staring at me (assuming I was very wealthy) because I had an attorney, in a 3-piece suit, appearing for me over a measly ticket.
Second time, I was driving on an unfamiliar highway when the speed limit changed three times within a matter of blocks. I was ticketed. Same scenario: I snapped a picture of the ticket and sent it to the law firm. They had an attorney appear for me the day of traffic court and the judge dismissed the ticket, without any points on my record.
I know enough about insurance to realize the thousands of dollars I saved without two tickets on my record. I didn't pay one extra dollar for these services, above my monthly membership fee. Very satisfied and relieved to have this service; I won't have to worry about insurance premiums when my son starts driving because kids are covered on the plan. One less (Huge) stress in life.

I had a court date so I signed up for Legalshield. I was unable to use the service because the event happened before I signed up. They referred me to another attorney who went to court and got my driving record cleared up. I was a happy customer and was glad I had signed up.
Now I am having a tenant/landlord problem. They have sided with the landlord and have given me no legal advice. This landlord has threatened me and their advice is to be a sitting duck and wait to see what she does next. I'm locked in for a year but after that I will have to think long and hard before I continue to pay for bad advise.

This is even worse than I first reported. As you can see they have responded saying that they don't want me to go through a legal situation alone. Well, that is exactly what they have left me to do. I received no legal advice from Valerie Dance. The only thing she told me is to wait and see what my landlord does next. Really! They also say that I can call Legal Sheild Member Services to speak to someone. Well, I just called and got no one to answer the phone. All I got was a recording telling me to use the app. Do not waste your money on these SCAMMERS.

I have Legal-shield for over a decade and although I had some issues with them in the past, overall, I was happy with their service. I had spoken with great lawyers in the past and I appreciate their service and dedication. I always recommended legal-shield to others; however, I need to put a stop on this. I hardly write a review, however, I feel the need to do so now because my recent contact with legal-shield assigned law firm was a big disappointment. For the sake of legal-shield and its customers, I should write this review. All I wanted was to ask a simple question regarding a hospital overcharging bill. The case was assigned to an attorney to call me. This attorney was playing a game of phone tag for three days and I simply could not reach her because she was not available. The attorney was leaving me a voice mail without first calling my phone and this is totally unacceptable. After three days, I called the customer service and the manager in customer service. The customer service/manager could not understand or did not want to understand the explanation of not reaching the attorney and did not want to believe what has happened. The best they could do was to give me one month of subscription. The time that I had spent to go through all of this nonsense had cost me more than dollar value.
The case has been deescalated for someone from HQ to call me and answer my concerns regarding my case. At this time, I have lost all my faith and confidence with legal-shield.

On the other hand I had employer sponsored ARAG legal service and their services are the worst. I paid several months monthly membership fees and all of them waste. This company is cheating and will go bankrupt. I called for help to resolve my employment issues which they said they don't offer employment related legal matter. Other instance I called for issues I was facing in setting up brokerage account which they said they can't handle or resolve any of the brokerage account matter. I called for my son license suspension matter and they opened the case and recommended attorneys. None of the attorneys were returned my calls. This company must be banned from doing the business.

The Legal Shield (male) attorney assigned to me would call me out-of-the-blue, late at night, completely unscheduled - at 11.45pm in one of the latest calls (as evidenced by the Google Voice call email notification). As a woman, I don't appreciate this. Meanwhile, he would routinely ignore appointments (scheduled by his admin staff) that we had during normal business hours for a call. When I complained on multiple times to the managers, they simply didn't bother to call back or respond at all. So this lawyer's inappropriate conduct therefore continued. I finally asked for another attorney, and in my first conversation with that attorney, she got very simple, basic aspects of law completely wrong - such as not even knowing the court rules on acceptable methods of service. When I pointed out that she was wrong (which she couldn't accept) and thus terminated the call, she later lied and said that I was the problem because I had "refused to take her advice" (yes, because she was wrong and I called her legal ignorance out!) and that I had yelled at her. I had actually audio-recorded the call, and it is very clear that I did not at all yell at her, i.e. She is simply lying to cover up her disastrous lack of basic legal knowledge.
I filed a complaint with Legal Shield (about the above) and they retaliated by completely ignoring my complaint and cancelling me as a client, putting me on a DNR ('do-not-reinstate') list. They refused to review my complaint and refused to talk to me about it.
Obviously, you should avoid Legal Shield, because this conduct is utterly inappropriate, utterly dishonest and unprofessional.

When a membership is canceled per company option, PPLSI notifies the member by a dated and signed letter, explaining the matter, and advising if any refund will be processed. If the Company cancels the Contract, Services will only be provided for those events reported in writing to the Provider Law Firm during the Eligibility Period. As a mission-based company dedicated to protecting and empowering people with the tools and services needed to affordably live a just and secure life, this option is not taken lightly and is only implemented when necessary.

I called to ask a question about a repeal to state a law regarding carrying a certain type of weapon. I mentioned as a former police detective, I understood the law was repealed in 2021 but wanted to know if carrying this item for self defense was legal in Ca. I mentioned I am teaching a class to many victims of crimes and I don't know what the repeal actually means. I was told at the time by the "attorney" that they can not give me legal advice for me to give to a class. I said I certainly understand that, but I need to know for me as well. I can read that the law was repealed and I wanted to know what that means in relation to carrying the item now concealed for self defense in CA. She said she would look it up and get back in 3 days. 3 days letter I got an e-mail that showed the legislature recordings for a variety of laws. I had to review it to find the one I was looking for. When I did, it showed the law was repealed in 2021. Great help! That was the same information I gave her originally! I called back and she rudely said she checked with her supervisor and because I was teaching a class that is all the information she would give. I said there is some mistake...she interrupted...she said there is no mistake and this is all the information "you get". I understand they are worried about their liability: They could have made me sign a form saying I would not be giving advice in class or something to obsolve them of any liabliltiy or just get my promise to understand the law for myself and I could not relay their findings in class - but NO...just a RUDE thats all you get. $60 bucks a month for personal and busines for 5 years or so...what a waste!
