IKEA CA

The Alex Desk from IKEA is perfect. I say this because it is exactly the right size to hold my PC, speakers, keyboard, mouse, CPU, and lamp with room to spare. The 2 drawers are huge and hold binders, books, pens, whatever you want. The is also a spot to put your wires away so they aren't all over the place. I chose black and we just got our daughter one and she chose a navy one. It was easy to put together with the instructions. My husband was quite happy about that. Shipping to our home was going to be ridiculously high so we had it shipped to their warehouse for only $29.00 for the desks and chair. The staff were so friendly and helpful. You booked your time but since they weren't busy, we went right away. I would highly recommend having it shipped to their warehouse and picking it up there. It's cheaper and easier. All in all, it was much better than travelling 2 hours to the store, shopping, paying the pickup fee of $5.00 and then driving back home.

I've shopped the online Ikea store twice for big orders and I'm quite satisfied with the shipping as well as the items. I placed an order recently for a dresser and a few little knick knacks and it came a day after. It was delivered by their delivery service and the men that delivered my items were polite and helped carry all the heavy boxes to my home. The only con for me is the large shipping fee, especially in a "pandemic" were we're all supposed to stay home lmao.

Why am I paying $59 for a large item to be shipped to my home when that's what the news and social media are telling us? Stay home, stay home, stay home! Am I wrong here? Lol. Anyways, yes, the $59 is insane but I calculated the cost of gas to travel to my nearest Ikea plus other expenses and it more than likely would have cost roughly the same (more or less). Their shipping for small items isn't too bad, $9.99, which is far more better than the $59.

One upside to the cost, I suppose, is that they have their own delivery service. They don't ship big box items through UPS, Purolator, FedEx, et cetera, which I actually like better as I've had a lot of issues with third party couriers, so it's a hit and miss. Depends on what you want to waste your funds on.

All my items arrived undamaged. I like everything for the most part. The sheets and duvet I ordered could be better quality but I got what I paid for. Ikea, to me, is probably one of the most affordable home stores in Canada. Homesense, Wayfair and other places are usually quite expensive, especially for a dresser. I'm pleased and will definitely be purchasing from them again.

Our online order was cancelled 4 times with little to no notice. Days taken off work and planned around the arrival of our big orderer were cancelled day of or not even told, just never showed up. Ruined many days and didn't arrive in time to be set up when needed. Awful experience, stay away!

IKEA promotes an offer of $25 off when you open up an IKEA credit card and make a first purchase of $25+. So I applied for the card many months ago and it took almost 2 months to receive it. I promptly made a $25+ purchase but still have not received the $25 off. I have called several times but the representatives seem to have no knowledge of this offer (which is on their website) and all basically giving me the run-around. So I will be cancelling this card and certainly would not recommend IKEA or their card! Don't get taken in by their false offers!

My review has nothing to do with delivery time or there products but I do hope you take note especially for young woman living on their own. We ordered a couch for our daughter on line the couch was in good shape and came quickly. What I thought when providing my daughters cell number for the delivery was that the store would call her for a warning it was almost there and since they use outside companies for the delivery I assumed they would get her address and buzzer number not for one second would I have thought that Ikea would have provided the drivers of a random delivery company her private phone number as we were only dealing with Ikea not this random company. Needless to say it was the 2 guys on the delivery truck in their 20's or early 30's that now had my 24 year old daughters cell number. We would not leave her alone for any other delivery from another company and we (her parents) would be there and provide our number. Unfortunately, she was really nervous as they were flirting with in a very rude and creepy manner as they were in her apartment bringing in the couch
Now with her Cell number. After this she received several creepy calls that were really scary until my husband texted back his thoughts on the rude messages and that he had better stop before a grown man handles the situation. Luckily we have a good relationship with our daughter and she told us right away for those young ladies that want to handle things themself I would hate to think how it would have gone if she was alone dealing with it. Make sure to tell Ikea you don't give them permission to give out a phone number if you don't want random drivers from moving companies to have it.
