Home Depot's reputation is marked by a mix of positive and negative customer experiences. Many customers appreciate the wide selection of products and the knowledgeable staff, which contribute to a convenient shopping experience. However, significant concerns arise regarding customer service, particularly related to installation issues, return policies, and delayed deliveries. Customers frequently report dissatisfaction with the handling of complaints and a perceived lack of support, leading to frustration and a sense of being undervalued. Overall, while the company offers a robust product range, its customer service approach appears inconsistent, impacting overall satisfaction.

My first stop for everything from landscaping materials to repair widgets. Like all big box stores, it is best if you know the materials, products, uses and store layout as the staff is typically not as informed as the folk at your local hardware store.
I have even had an employee come to my home to see why the gas tank was not working on my grill I love this store. As a female shopper, there are quite a few things I don't know and always find someone willing to take the time
Be prepared for your nightmare.
I am having the worst experience with home depot appliances. Their service sucks, every one is unprofessional, and don't know how to do their jobs.
I first placed an appliances order H1041-******* for a washer, dryer, and refrigerator. The first time the delivery people arrived on December 23rd and refused to deliver. They said that I should reschedule as it might rain, and they will destroy my carpets. I had to travel from next day, and I told them that they should install appliances today but they didn't. I went to homedepot to complain but nobody was there to listen to me. I then talked with online customer support, well they suck as well with an additional 2 hour hold to totally waste your day.
I then tried to reschedule delivery to Jan 10th, nobody called me and I called them to ask for it. I was told that delivery missed me and left a tag but there was no tag. Then I was scheduled for Jan 13 for refrigerator. The freezer wasn't working which I came to know after couple of days and I complained but its still in my home and I haven't received any service. Now the fridge is not working either.
Now about washer, and dryer; delivery company told me that they don't have dryer for me. Do I only want washer or both washer and dryer. I told that I want both. So, they said that they will call me back with more information. Next day I called home depot and they said that my dryer is canceled. I should come to homedepot and re-order it. I went there to re-order dryer. I was told that for now, I should receive only washer, otherwise it will be canceled as well. I received the washer and now waited for dryer.
On 1st Feb (now over 2 months since my order and about 40 days after my original delivery date) the delivery people came with the dryer but said that I need longer pipe, though my order has 8' pipe. They said they don't have them, and took the dryer back to cancel it.
Homedepot is a mess. Please stay away. They owe my money for 3 orders of washer, haven't refunded me yet. Gave me a faulty refrigerator, and there is no service to fix it or take it back. The washer is un-installed and I still haven't got as dryer even after ordering it for 3 times.
I have a DIY project going every time I go into this store. I love going to the tile section and looking at all kinds of choices the great thing about this is that their associates come and help you reach a better informed decision instead of impluse buying it's more the information the consumer.
I enjoy looking at the different paint samples before choosing one an a accent color. Home Depot is a lifesaver to your wallet as well.
I hired Home Depot to install a new fence. Their contactor came out and showed me 2 wood samples. I chose the thicker, smoother, more expensive wood. However, when the contractor was done, I discovered that he had used the less expensive wood (but charged me for the more expensive wood). I went round and round with Home Depot management and the contractor. A HD rep came to my house to look at the fence. I asked him to bring the 2 wood samples that the contractor showed me, so I could show him how my fence compared to the samples. But, the contractor gave him a different sample (I know because the samples the contractor showed me were hooked together with a chain. The single sample that the HD rep brought had no hole, and there was only 1). I have their credit card, but once I paid off the fence, I never charged another item to it. They just lost a customer for life.
I ordered two side mounted tool boxes for my truck, i was notified by the head office that they were shipped to my local store... still no communication as to their actual whereabouts despite the speedy removal of funds from my bank account.
I like this store. They honor coupons and have a wide array of products for your needs. Always have good sales, although a good number of items can be found a lot cheaper at Walmart. Good store if your looking for things Walmart doesn't carry and the quality is the same.
We ordered a stove in mount pleasant NY store. Before we ordered or accepted the delivery, no one told us unlike other products in home depot, major appliance cannot be returned! We waited for our contractor to come to install the stove for one week but decided to change it to a bigger one, no way! They wouldn't accept the return because, according to them, even the appliance is damaged, you only have 2 days to return it! They should have let us know before the order, not after! If I knew it, I wouldn't even place any orders with them! This is not the first time we had problems with home depot. One month ago, we placed another order and they gave us the delivery time. I took one day off from work and waited for the delivery for a whole day! No one showed up, no one called me. I called the online store, they said they were not able to located the products! I asked how long should I wait, the lady simply said 'I don't know' then did not want to talk any more. I called them again to cancel the order and they told me I have to go to the store to get my refund for online orders. I wonder how such a big company has such lousy selling system and can still keep their business running for such a long time! I will never go to home depot in all my life. According to my friend at ithaca NY, they have the same issue with home depot there. So it's the problem of the whole company, not individual stores. Lowe's has much better customer service and return policies.
Always can find someone to help. Pleasant workers. Good prices and sales. I have went to neighboring business and have left there every to go to Home Depot.
Bought a rooms worth of carpet for $25 dollars it was like 30¢ per sq. Ft. Always have good sale going on, which is great because I love improving my home. I've noticed it's best to check online for deals prior to going in person
I have a really present order online with HomeDepot it is so on time and the product in a good quality I will order again in the future. Thank you.
My husband and I visited home depot on Elam.We hired them to do work on roof. They aunt about 15 to 20 people out look like they piked them up from at the side of road looking for work. All the knocking and pounding caused inside damage to our house. We talk to 4 or 5 different people to have it fixed. They denied the damage and said if someone had fallen into the house they would pay for that. Someone have to get hurt fist before you own up to responsibility.
Don't hire Home depot for any work they won't pay for any damage they cause.
These people are less than professional.
Rarely meets delivery dates and In-store pickups I would give a rating of one star due to the hours (yes plural) that it takes to get what was ordered and eventually arrived. I have even paid for items on invoice which indicated delivered but were missing and when addressed, I received a refund for item no longer being available.
I shop quite often at Home Depot and on the rare occasions that I have had a problem they always responded to any problem I had quickly and fairly. I would recommend them to anyone
Great prices, great inventory, and great help all mean we shop often at Home Depot for our home needs. Even store to store, there is still consistency with service.
They have a wide selection of home repair tools and materials.
A little high pricing though.
Have previously had excellent experiences with HomeDepot.com, but after purchasing a $6000. Hot tub we were prompted for a review. I outlined the minor issues with delivery (truck's tailgate couldn't really handle the load!) and major mechanical/electrical problems that customer service didn't get it right causing us some extra time, effort and expense to get it working (electrician to tell us our wiring was okay, waiting for a new pump and they sent the wrong one, etch) Put this in the review and it was kicked back as "it didn't speak specifically about the product". Tailored it down two more times and finally gave up. They wanted a positive review. Period. We paid for a functioning hot tub and delivery. That was the product we bought and I submitted a review based on that.
The Home Depot in Torrance has been great over the years I have been going there. Many helpful advisors and pretty good prices. Returns are easy when you make a mistake or something is not right.
Went in trying to find a particular part to finish a job. Asked one of the people walking the floor - he knew exactly what I needed. Even took me to the part
We are blessed with a real 'mom and pop' lumber yard in our town, but sometimes they can't compete with the stock available at a nearby 'big box' like Home Depot. When we need a home improvement item our first try is the 'mom and pop' and if that doesn't work out then it's off to HomeDepot.com
You can search their web site for whatever you are looking for and then see which of the area stores has it in stock. - reserve or buy it online and then pick it up - easy peasy!
You can also have stuff home-delivered, sometimes free, sometimes not - depends. Or you can always have it shipped to a nearby store and pick it up there.
If you shop at a store in person their sales staff ia generally quite knowledgeable. Many of the 'specialty trades' salespeople are retired contractors or other workers who really know their stuff. Almost as good as at our 'mom and pop' first choice store.
Answer: Hi Betty, you can also return without receipt if you purchased using your credit card. Give them the same CC and they can tell the price you bought at.
