The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in customer satisfaction when it comes to specific contractors and service providers, who are often praised for professionalism and quality work. However, significant concerns arise regarding the lead generation service, with numerous customers expressing frustration over poor-quality leads, lack of refunds for invalid contacts, and overwhelming solicitations. Many reviews indicate a decline in service quality following the merger with Angie's List, leading to a perception of the company as unreliable. Overall, while individual service experiences can be positive, systemic issues with lead handling and customer support remain prevalent.

Okay, I got duped into using these guys. Out of 9 leads, I only got 1 job and it was for something outside of my scope of work. There is work on every corner and better ways of finding it than dealing with these vultures. I have been on it for 1 week and already I have to fight with them because they want to charge me money for leads that are bogus.
I had a plumbing need that was inside of a wall. As a matter of course if water pipe is inside of a wall I won't touch it. I see the HomeAdvisor.com ads on TV like everybody else does. I went on line and described the job. I got a great number of "Home Advisor.com Approved vendors all anxious to help immediately. I picked one with the most high ratings and called and made an appt. The "representative" from the plumbing company showed up promptly and was very polite and cordial. I showed him the task at hand. He asked about any and all plumbing issues I had, or might have? He noticed my water heater lacked an expansion tank and proceeded to tell me that "that is against the building code and that my life was in danger!" I replied, "For now, let's look at what I called you for, shall we?" He looked at the task in a pensive manner. I told him that this job is for "time and labor only and I use only Moen valves." He used some app on his phone and quoted an inclusive price that was 60 plus percent higher than what the current Means Book averages. I asked him, why his bid was as high as it was? He replied, that his bid was quite reasonable, and that he could have a plumber here in one hour to "take care of that!" (I am a licensed civil engineer and know full well the prevailing cost for this kind of work) I informed him that: " Sir, you have wasted both your time and mine would you please leave! He replied, I have to pay to be recommended by HOMEADVISOR, and it's not cheap." I did call another plumber with just a name and phone number that 4 days later did a great job at a little less than half of what this HomeAdvisor crook quoted. My advice: HomeAdvisor is a scam that at the very least victimizes honest contractors and attracts shyster contractors. I would advise all people to stay away from Home.Advisor.com vendors. Period!
My husband own a small company and every time I look at the business account, HAdvisor redraw shows up almost every week. The fees sometimes are over $1000. UNFORTUNATELY, my husband doesn't get. It absolutely ridiculous to spend money for leads and not getting any job. The worst is that they send the lead to more than one company. So, if the lead cost $56; all the company that receives the lead get charged that amount whether you get it or not. RIP OFF
After i read a review here I decided not to sign up a membership.its true they love insult people. That is also the reason why i back out and started to read a reviews.im glad i dont sign up
I think home advisor should have some kind of screening process in place for who they give work to. I had an awful experience with a woman name Teresa Williams and her workers doing half a** work. Her whole crew look like a bunch drug using criminals that I would've never hired if I had to go and do the hiring myself which is why I turned to home advisors in the first place. Maybe its a fluke that I got the crew I did for my project but regardless I don't think I will be using home advisor in the future.
I joined home advisor several months ago, didn't take long to see that I had been scammed, bogus leads, all dead ends. Asked for my money back, they refused. My credit card company credited my account, now I am being threatened with collections if I don't pay!
If you like being stolen from and having money directly taken out of your checking account without your authorization getting leads that don't come to fruition and basically allowing someone to steal from you HomeAdvisor is the way to go for! When you try to get the money back that they stole from you they tell you that that's not their policy that they can't give you your money back a bunch of slimy little techniques on the other end of the phone that you just want to strangle and basically you've given them the keys to your wallet. The leads turn on while you're sleeping sneakily and you wake up with two or three leads in the morning that they've already charged before and they won't give you your money back it's ridiculous whatever you do as a home service professional do not ever sign up for HomeAdvisor!
This company scams contractors and potential clients! They go after contractors, get them to sign up and then charge them for every call they receive. They do not research the companies they promote so if there is a bad contractor the customer finds out the hard way. Even if a contractor tries to cancel their account with HoneAdvisor, they continue charging them and refuse to refund their money. They do not care about their customers. They are greedy and despicable!
As a business owner for over 10 years i would with branches in 3 states i suggest not wasting time or money on homeadvisor scam which is that you pay so much and will get next to nothing and they even send you leads to customers that do not know there info is being sold and d not want anything to do with companies calling that way. Home advisor is the worst and angies list has just gone down hill for a few years now you pay more and get less and less. Run away from home advisor
Calls 3x a day and will not take me off their call list. Harassment! I am filing a police report today.
This company is very strainge - they don't accept negative reviews for their workers and this way continuing advertising bad workers. This is fraud. We cannot trust this Co any more.
Kunin does not have a valid contractors license. He did the interior painting of walls, ceiling, and kitchen cabinets, electrical lights installation in our home. I believe that Anatoli Kunin provided an inferior work product and may expose our home to unnecessary financial risk. He has been negligent in a variety of ways. Unprofessional. Unacceptable poor quality. The work must be redone or finished. The process has been far slower than we initially discussed. We won the Small Court to recover our money but he does not want to return money even after the Court decision. Bad performed job, veeery expensive - almost 2 times more expensive than other handymen. Very rude and unrespectful. Not recommend it to anyone else.and LAW OF CALIFORNIA CAN'T CHARGE MORE THAN $499, BUT received $5000It is illegal for an unlicensed person to perform contracting work on any project valued at $500 or more in combined labor and material costs.
Business and Professions Code section 7028 contracting without a license. The penalty for operating without a license on a first offense is up to six months in jail and/or a fine of up to $5,000, plus the potential for additional administrative fines and penalties.
Scams contractors! Purposely makes their website not user friendly so that (3) contractors will get charged the max amount. When you sign up with them they say only 3 contractors are billed and given the lead but I talked to one home owner and he had talked to 7 contractors about his job through home advisor. When I signed up with home advisor the deal was that if I called a home owner at least 2 days in a row and could not reach them that they would credit the money back to my account, apparently they were losing too much money from all the bad leads they sell to all the contractors, After a year of the service being like this my lead credits started getting denied so I called them and they told me that "oh no, you must be mistaken. It was never that way" after I just did it for the last year, they still wont credit for bad leads.
They will only credit for 2 bad leads a month now, so if they sell you 10 bad leads (Highly likely in a month) they wont credit you for it now. It has even gotten so bad now with this company that I've been given leads by people who don't even own a house, people who don't want work done they just wanted to know what something like that might cost or they couldn't find the right option for what they were looking for. I've called to get replacement leads on these and they now tell me that if I talked to someone then they are a potential client and its a good lead, they will not credit. I also dropped my target spending to $200 a month because I was getting so many bad leads, This has happened twice, in just one weeks time I get $450 worth of leads. I highly don't recommend this company unless you want to get scammed out of money
The best ever. These guys are so professional. And the job they did was great. Did lighting for me. Moved washer and driver for flooring. Kenneth brown. Project manager is awesome
I hired Marin Paving out of Ansonia, Ct. To pave my falling apart driveway. From the phone call to actually meeting Victor Marini I was hooked. Victor Marini and his crew did an awesome job on my driveway. It looks amazing. They were so professional and courteous and it was a comfort to know that the job would be done to perfection. Victor made sure I was totally satisfied with the work before he left my home. I cannot say enough about this company and the gentlemen that completed the work. I would recommend them to anyone. Thank you again Victor.
ATTENTION! THIS COMPANY IS A SCAM! THEY WILL TELL YOU ON THE PHONE THAT YOU ONLY PAY ONCE IN THE BEGINNING AND THEN YOU PAY FOR EVERY ACCEPTED LEAD. THIS ISN'T TRUE. IN 3 MONTHS I WAS CHARGED JUST UNDER $1,700 WITHOUT MY AUTHORIZATION. WHEN I CALLED THEM AND ASKED FOR MY MONEY TO BE REFUNDED THEY SAID THEY DON'T DO REFUNDS. WHEN I TOLD THEM I DIDN'T AGREE TO SUCH AN ARRANGEMENT THEY SAID I AGREED VERBALLY ON A RECORDED LINE BUT THEY HAVE NO WAY OF SENDING THAT TO ME WITHOUT A SUBPOENA. THEY SENT ME A SCREEN SHOT OF A RECEIPT THAT WAS CREATED BY THEM AND NEVER AGREED TO BY ME (VERBALLY OR OTHERWISE). THIS IS THE WORST COMPANY FOR LEADS AND THEIR CUSTOMER SERVICE IS NOT CUSTOMER ORIENTED WHATSOEVER.
We've had him do three projects for us so far and have been very satisfied with his work.
He is competent, thorough, neat and takes pride in his work.
I used Showcase hardwood Floors to refinish and repair my hardwood oak floors. Craig Dzukola did beautiful work on my floors. They are gorgeous and his work was perfection, correcting every little thing. His bid was lower than some and he went over and beyond to make sure everything was repaired and more. His crew along with Craig were on time,
Pleasant, and very professional. I highly recommend this family owned company.

The idea of the site is great, the actual follow through with the companies that the site recommends stinks!
I've had more people try and talk me out of coming to fix my issues than actually want to do a simple job. I seriously have people say, "you real need me to come out? Well, if you can't find someone else call me back". The quality of "companies this site has sucks!
Signed up for home advisor and was happy to pay the annual feel for
Leads but then started getting other charges. Call in about these other
Charges and they're for the leads they send you.
I got 2 leads totalling $245 and when i called I talked to same person telling me he never requested services. In my opinion they paid people to act like customer.
They also get scam. Is sad that company like this can
Answer: We had a similar experience when first trying Home advisor out. They kept taking money out of our account arbitrarily. I finally had to file stop payment forms at my bank. Then they threatened us with extra fees unless we "settled" our account. We have strict DTPA laws (deceptive trade practice act) in our state. I advised we complain to our Attorney General about this. I think home advisor should be banned in our state because of this fraud.
Answer: I didn't, they have been blowing my phone up for 6 month's now and now they act like thier desperate for me to sign with them. I have absolutely no want or will i ever sign with them after i have heard what thier doing to contractors who have a contract with them. I just signed with a family owned reality company and even they told me not to sign and even when i tell home advisor i don't want thier business they ignore my request and still call and now they act like thier a home owner requesting painting but once i get to asking where they live or information all of a sudden I'm being told to do a background check and i sign up for free! But i have to pay a percentage of my leads or size of job something of that nature where i pay them for a no guarantee of work as i see it. I can't trust handing money to a company that's being deceitful in a phone call off the rip! Just be careful i don't hear good thing's about them all over now.
Answer: Fake leads, sends email, text & calls between 20-30/day and charges for each. Even if Contractor doesn't open Or answer any calls! Will rip off contractors about $800/day until they catch it and no refunds! Do Not Use HomeAdvisor!
Answer: I don't know about the house cleaners but, I do not trust the company based on my own recent experience.
Answer: You don't know you have to call home advisor and wait on the phone for an hr until they pick up
