Terrible scraggly plants of very poor quality, zero customer service, this is not a company you want to do business with. If they allowed zero stars I would have chosen that.

I used to order from Hirt's regularly and had good experiences. Over the past few years I don't know what happened. Every single order has *something* wrong with it. Orders are incorrect or incomplete, and when you ask for them to be corrected you get a curt and unhelpful response, as if you're putting them out to simply get the products you ordered. They will sell you something that isn't actually in stock, and then alter the order without contacting you first and asking if you want to cancel. They send the wrong seeds entirely, or, if you order a seed that isn't from the Botanical Interests brand, you will often get a sketchy looking plastic bag. I had two messed up seed orders in a row and decided to give them a "third chance" in case I had just been unlucky--after all, they USED to be a respected company. Well, they messed up that third chance, advertising a hard to find plant as "in stock" when it actually wasn't. I only wanted that plant but I added a couple of seed packets to round out my order since I was paying for shipping anyway. Guess what--they sent me the seeds I didn't really care about, and simply left off the rare plant that they didn't actually have, refunding after the fact for that one item. Never contacted me to say my item wasn't in stock. I feel used and ripped off. Wish I'd ordered those seed packets from a better vendor like Baker Creek who actually cares about their customers AND doesn't even charge a shipping fee for seeds. I don't know what's going on over at Hirt's these days but old Samuel Hirt must be rolling in his grave.

I ordered my 4" rubber tree plant. This was my first order from Hirts. It arrived in a box with bubble wrap for protection. There was tape across the pot to keep the dirt from falling out. It was healthy looking although some leaves are curled up. I planted it immediately in a pot and found the perfect spot for it. So far it looks healthy. It arrived fairly quickly after ordering. I was so pleased when I came back to order a banana tree plant, I saw the reviews for the first time. Now I'm really scared to order again. I think I'll stop while I'm ahead. I've also seen terrible reviews on "brighter blooms" company. Buyer beware. For now, I'm happy. I'm sorry to see all the bad reviews. It's one thing to receive a bad/dead plant, but customer service is critical. If you dont have an understanding person on the other end of the phone, that's ready and willing to offer a solution, your business doesn't have a leg to stand on. It wont last long with all these unhappy customers. I'm a business owner and it is of upmost importance, above anything, that my customers are happy. Best wishes to all who have been wronged.

SATISFIED CUSTOMER

COLOR ME COMPLETELY SATISFIED! Finally, a legit company that sends LIVING plants, timely, with the type of care I give my own plants/flowers. Not only is it hard to find yellow aptenia, but when I have ordered it, it arrived dead with a slug (from another company). I've had online plants arrive dead, dry, and overall in BAD CONDITION. This yellow aptenia arrived in a few days, it was green and happy to be put in the ground. I am thankful, I will be a returning customer.

Plants arrived in horrible condition. Two were clearly dead. I Paid nearly $70 for 6 plants. I planted them immediately. One plant was broken at the base and dead looking with no roots. The other plant didn't have any roots at all and the top looked dead. I planted them all anyway as the letter that came with the plants said they may go dormant after planting but may come up later. A month+ later, four of the plants are thriving and growing, but the two dead plants remained dead! I contacted Alan Hirt and showed him a picture of the box with the plants in horrible condition. He said he needed to see the plants. I showed him the picture again. He said he needed to see the plants now. I said they are dead, there is nothing but dirt and did he want me to send him a picture of the dirt where i planted them. No answer. Days later i asked him if he was going to replace the plants. No answer. Today, i find out i was refunded the two plants. BUYER BEWARE. It's a 50/50 chance to get decent plants.

I ordered a smoke bush July 2019. It came the beginning of August bent over due to poor packaging! I sent an email telling them about their poor packaging and told them I was going to plant it anyway. It barely survived the summer. Was still bent over and lost half its leaves by fall. I sent an email explaining what happened along with photos. I was told by Matt (presumably the owner?) that it might not survive in October. He told me to let him know if it didn't survive. So in May 2020, I emailed him and told him it did not survive. His response "Sorry for the confusion. It is posted on our web site that we have a 90 day policy. When you contacted us, you have 90 days to let us know if the plant does not survive. Sorry, but at this time your plant is out of policy. WHAT THE HELL? I told him within 90 days that it probably wouldn't survive and HE IS THE ONE who told me to wait. He doesn't even know his store's own policy, something he could have told me in October? STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY! I guess they don't care about their customers at all!

Not what I ordered.

An order came in today but its not what I ordered. What I ordered were: Golden Wonder Ice Plant quart pot for $ 5.99, Monarch`s Velvet Cinquefoil Perennial Plant Quart pot for $ 4.99, Pinot Grigio Giant Hibiscus Rose Mallow perennial - huge flowers -gallon pot for $ 11.99, and Brandy Punch Giant Hibiscus Rose Mallow perennial - huge flowers -Gallon pot for $ 11.99. For a total of $ 52.85. Instead, I get 4 Rozane Hardy Geraniums@ $ 12.99 a piece for a total of $ 73.85 that I did not order. So what do I do now with flowers I didn`t order and still want the ones I did order. Please contact me@ *******@aol.com and let me know if I`m still getting the plants I did order and what to do with the geraniums.

Bait and Switch

I put purchased my plant off Hirt's website. I bought a Black and Gold Snake Superba Sansaveria. I've bought a couple things and always had excellent service. Quick shipping beautiful packaging. Beautiful plants. This time the plant arrived in rough shape. I sent a message to Alan Hurt. The message I received word for word, copy and pasted: trim off any damaged sections of the leaves with a pair of scissors. If I trimmed the damaged sections the plant would be severely pruned and the effect lost. As many people know, this plant grows slow. This particular plant's quality is below acceptable. After the email, I put a review on the Hirt's website. I checked later to see if my review was posted. I had to post the review on a 4 inch plant (same type). My 6 inch plant listing was no longer available. I
Did mention that information in my review I was writing for Hirt's website. Not only was it not posted but I could no longer find that product listing. I double checked if I had made an error. This is my next best chance to advise that the customer service in this instance was poor. I would have been a returned customer because I did believed in their company. Since this I will not be a repeat customer and it is astonishing the Hirt's name has been in the business for over 100 years.

Insult to injury. Two of the leaves have completely split.

Damaged goods

I received my stromantha triostar and every leaf is damaged. Poor packing. Not enough paper to secure it and no stick in the. Pot to prevent it from moving. Disappointed.

First off this company is very expensive but I overlooked this issue. I ordered 3 austrailian tree ferns and a Gigatum staghorn fern, Received the order in a crushed box 2 plants were okay but 2 tree ferns were crushed and staghorn was destroyed. Matt at Hirts refuned me for 2 plants and made sure I understood that I was not going to get shipping back, He completely ignored that the 20 dollar staghorn fern was destroyed and did not replace or refunded, I explained to him that I didn't know or have any one to take a picture and sendit to him. These items were shipped USPS Priority and should have been insured? Iam out my money and MATT at HIRT'S does't care?

Walmart.com order # Order #************** Pappas Grass planted last Fall & ALL ARE DEAD. I DIDN'T EVEN GET ONE SEASON TO ENJOY. I understand your return policy is 15 days but come on they weren't even green this Spring. Can you PLZ send a replacement?
