Photo below shows $40 of plants. Im 5'3 and have very tiny hands. So thats bad... But then i pick one up to show the crap quality and a spider dangling off it so i diotome-earthed the hell out of these poor baby, stressed out ferns... of whatever, because 3 came in a pack without care instructions... So species.i have no clue. I have an app called "greg" that helps me or it would be a long google process. The unknown 3 are from the $9.99 fairy garden variety. I know some are tropical so am i about to get bit by a tropical spider? Great. A $40 present on my bday and it will be the death of me... I say, Shop etsy or succulent box. Ive have better amazon experiences. I swear. First hirts box before this was even worse because they were all on sale so none came w names. One of them was totally trash and the others were starting to rot but i somehow nursed them to health... Im a total noob, mind u, so the only experience prior was with succulents i put in a pot too big and killed. So lucky for that batch, i somehow worked all the kinks out enough for them to thrive and survive the beginning rot stages. Rot was what i had the most experience in, i suppose. This was my second try because the first one, as crappy as it was, the price was awesome. I guess all being on sale. But for the same quality of plants, double the price. Nah! I pass next time
Was sent 3 maybe rooted cuttings in a 0ne 4 inch pot. Another 4 inch pot contained same thing. 3rd pot only had 2 cuttings. I've rooted christmas cactuses in the past from my huge old one that eventually died. I can tell that these have recently been cut. Spent much more than they are worth.
I ordered roses from WalMart to be delivered from Hirt's Gardens. The roses were at the point dying with yellow leaves and powdery mildew. Called and emailed both WalMart and Hirt's Gardens with no positive results. Guess I'll have to say it's a lesson learned. Do not buy from either Hirt's Gardens or WalMart.
I am so greatly disappointed. I ordered some seeds from Hirt's. I was excited to finally receive them. I planted them according to the directions enclosed. They didn't come up and didn't come up.
Then as I was reading the sheet enclosed with the seeds, I couldn't get the statement." All sales are final", out of my head. It made it sound like they don't expect them to germinate and grow, so they don't want to be responsible. Are they old seeds? Are they truly the fern peony seeds? I don't feel they are very truthful and will never order from your company again.
Word of advice... Never order direct from Hirt's! I ordered four different plants. One is almost dead AND a different variety than I ordered. Two are exactly the same, instead of two different forms of the same plant, and the third was a bonsai teaberry planted in moss, with no moss!
This greehouse operation certainly churns out a mass quantity of some good and some really not so lively products. I am a degreed horticulturist, and the health of some of the plant material they shipped to me in three separate instances is not acceptable. When I approached 'Greenhousematt' about the issue, since he thought I was a small guy he swatted at me and swept me away like a fungus gnat. Single proprietors and small businesses be very wary of this operation. This organization is best suited for Wal-mart and Amazon. If you have issues with the product they ship you, they do not care unless you are a big customer.
Hirts is just around the corner from me and they have a large selection of unusual plants and many appear in very nice condition. However, they seem to employ too many uncaring and incompetent employees. Along with the healthy plants are many in bad condition. At times many of the plants seem to be over watered and rotting and I believe the employees ship the dying ones out anyway. I recently bought some rhubarb that looked beautiful, only to fine one was totally rotting. I went back to replace it and even though they looked ok on top, a closer check found many to be badly rotted. I was not offered a replacement plant and when I mentioned that many of the ones they had were rotting, I was totally ignored, as if she couldn't be bothered with customer satisfaction.
I just received the 5 plants I ordered, and I was very happy at how healthy, and how big they are! The packaging was very secure, all the plants in perfect shape. I've ordered a lot of plants online and been disappointed. I'll definitely only order from Hirts from now on.
I purchased three azalea plants from their website, and the next day I received a response that they actually only had two left, so they would issue me a refund for the 3rd. I received the two plants, which weren't great to be honest, since they were obviously the last of their stock, and waited for my refund. Over the course of 30 days, I reached out several times for an update and got the same response every time, "some banks take up to 30 days to process a refund, contact them." I did reach out to my bank, and they said I should have had it from three to five business days. But I waited the 30 days, and then emailed Hirt's Gardens again and what was their response? "Some banks take over 30 days to process a refund, contact them." Totally ridiculous, I filed a dispute with my bank and I'll let them fight for it. I wouldn't recommend purchasing from this particular supplier if you expect them to stand behind anything, or resolve issues. Especially if the issue was their fault!
! st and last time ordered from Hirt's. Sent me the wrong variety and I sent them pictures to prove it (even their website pix of the plant I ordered is different from the one they sent) and they just brushed me off saying that the grower said it was the correct plant (but it definitely is NOT). If they had admitted the mixed up, I wouldn't be happy about it but at least I deem they have integrity. Last time, indeed.
Ordered for daughter in Las Vegas on Thurs. Amazed, because her bday day before Valentines day. She got it right on her bday on Mon in great condition. Shipped with a hand warmer inside box. Everything just like pix and she's enjoying. Thanx
This company is a joke and the Principal of the company is a complete jerk. I read their reviews and can see where his personally is coming from. They have very very poor rating with the BBB. I read some reviews before I ordered and they were so so. Guess I was looking at the wrong site. They really must SUCK because my review is nothing compared to what some people have said. They should have talked to Alan Hirt such a foul mouth and I was his customer. Guess he never learned customer relations, or business going down the tube really gets to a guy. Showed on the web site that this company was started by Samuel Hirt in the early 30s. Don't you know his family must really be proud of Alan.
I just got an online Buddleia Buzz and a large stem was broken off during shipping. I'm pretty disappointed. Annie's Annuals and Perennials ships plants so much better.
I ordered priority shipping and never received the item, I called after 6 days knowing the plants weren't going to be in good shape, I was told to wait until they came. I tried to cancel the order and was told they wouldn't cancel until I received damaged plants, and if they arrived damaged, they could send new ones. So I'm supposed to wait a week for damaged plants, send them back and wait another week for a refund or more plants, that could also be damaged. Terrible customer service.
Customer service sucks. They want pictures I sent them pictures but they still insists on me sending them different pic. Such scam. All 5 plants I got from them are now dead after less than a week.
This company is such a scam. You order a 6in pot and they cut off the stem of the main plant which is dead and sell you the pot with little new sprouts that has bug eaten leaf. Order 5 plants all 5 were unhealthy. One doesn't even have a root system at all and they shipped it to me. Shady business they ship you what others don't want or is already dead and infested with bugs.
I purchased a small Serissa tree from Hirt's Etsy storefront, I received a microscopic tree from Hirt's Etsy storefront. Attached is an image of the advertised tree potted in a 2.5" plastic nursery pot. Also attached is an image of my twig potted in a 2.5" plastic nursery pot. This is exactly how my plant arrived. Hirt's Gardens is NOT a small business. They are an established provider for Walmarts throughout the nation. Yet Tara from customer service tells me that "this batch was just small". Someone on the Hirts team needs to educate the customer service sector on how plants work. I requested a new, acceptable tree, and they hit me with HALF of a refund. Hirt's Gardens, an established provider for multiple large-scale retailers, somehow ended up with a microscopic (unfixable) batch of Serissa trees but yet they can only refund $7 of a $15 purchase. Mind you, shipping itself is $7. I have a personal vendetta against this company after my terrible service.
The New Orleans Maiden jasmine came quickly, was full of blooms, had more than one stem, was in a pot and bubble wrapped. Was packed extremely well in a box. Will order again and attached photos
Ordered 4 plants, shipping cost a lot. I received them and one was in a bad shape, already dead. When contacted them and asked them to replace it. Fast they gave me a refund for 12 dollars including shipping, now if I want to re-purchase the same plant I have to pay 17 dollars including shipping. WHICH PART OF THIS IS FAIR? OR GOOF CUSTOMER SERVICE?
I received my order all infected with mealybugs. Immediately contacted and told I repackaged immediately because of my other plants. Was told they need a picture of each plant. No I will not risk infecting my well established plant collection to show you bugs you knowingly mailed to me. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY. I SHOULD HAVE LISTENED TO THE PAST REVIEWS!
Roses arrived quickly, in a well packaged box. Both bushes were healthy & soil in pots were moist & ready to plant. I will buy from this company again in the future.
Answer: When I ordered a yellow aptenia from Hirt's Gardens, it took only 3 days to arrive. It arrived, moist, green and HAPPY! I am happy too.
