I was browsing the Hello Fresh website to see what they offered for Thanksgiving dinners and was told I had to re-activate my plan to view the dinner options. I did that and because the meal was for a large group, I opted out OR so I thought. Turns out I was re-subscribed and not only did I receive a subscription meal box, I also received the Thanksgiving meal (and no discounts on anything). I did not receive email confirmations about this and later found out they don't support "sbcglobal" email addresses, hence I had no idea orders had been activated and no chance to cancel timely. Funny that all of their marketing emails make it through to my domain. Also, I was not at home at the time of delivery and could not reject the deliveries. I promptly contacted Hello Fresh about these unexpected deliveries upon receiving them and one of the representatives said, I had not paid for the Thanksgiving dinner so "Happy free Thanksgiving dinner to you". Funny (again) that my credit card was charged for the cost of the "free" Thanksgiving dinner. I talked to 3 reps and had 3 different responses about whether or not I had paid and ultimately (sadly) was not allowed to return or receive a refund. I understand with food it is trickly, but I am clear I did not place an order as one would place an order with any other online store. I am going to donate the Thanksgiving dinner to a local church, however, will no longer donate to Hello Fresh. I will reach out to my credit card company on this matter to see if a charge back is an option.
I was a hello fresh customer for several years before getting bored with the same food so took a break. Roll forward to 2023, I received a marketing offer to re subscribe…which i did.
I received the first box (all good) however, we will be away for the next 3/4 weeks. So, when choosing the options for the first box I paused the subscription (or so I thought).
Today I received a notification to say that hello fresh had tried to take a payment from old bank account, it didn't go though as I wasn't expecting to make any payments from
The account.
I immediately contacted them and explained I had paused the deliveries….I was advised I hadn't. I must have failed to click a final button. The customer service representative then went away to see if he could stop the box of food (bear in mind the delivery is 5 days away) he came back to say I had used the one 'stop' late box credit 5 years ago. Consequently, he required payment for the box of food, which he could stop if he chose to, but wouldn't….so, because of some stupid policy I will now either a) have to get someone to try and return this box of food or b) it will be left on the doorstep to rot for a month with hello fresh chasing payment for £30.
I'm actually appalled that although they could stop the delivery and retain a log time customer, they would prefer to take this route.

I subscribed to their service for a few months for my son to help when his family moved. They kept my credit care in que and when my daughter in law OPENED an email, it instantly signed me up again - even though I DID NOT want to. I received an email from my credit card company saying I had renewed the subscription. NO I DID NOT! I called Hello Fresh within hours of receiving the email only to be told sorry you must cancel 5 days before shipment. But they had sent the email 4 days before shipment. So sorry, you're screwed, you MUST be charged for the renewal, no they could not cancel the order, even tho I didn't know anything about the order until 4 days before shipment! Fraudulent to the max! SO BEWARE! They will keep your credit card and charge it when they want to, without your consent and then blame you for you lack of timing of 5 days when you only received it 4 days ago! What a hideous company - there are many others out there which I will look into when I need this type of service again. STAY AWAY! I filed with the BBB which has several other complaints against this company!
I'm profoundly disheartened and hurt by the company's deplorable actions, as they have squandered my time and wrongfully extracted my funds.
Allow me to elucidate the situation further: during my vacation, I dutifully cancelled two delivery orders, yet they audaciously levied a £67 charge and falsely asserted that I had reactivated the cancelled delivery. What compounds my frustration is the stark apathy displayed by their customer service agents towards my complaint and refund request. To make matters worse, they insist on their inability to cancel the order, despite its status as neither prepared nor shipped. My efforts to reach a higher authority were in vain, as I was denied the opportunity to speak to a manager. This situation reeks of fraudulent activities, and it is painfully evident that the welfare of their customers holds no significance to them. Their customer service, in a word, is abysmal.
Regrettably, I was left with no recourse but to escalate the matter by reporting this fraudulent charge to my bank and promptly terminating my subscription to prevent further complications.
I earnestly advise against engaging with Hello Fresh to spare yourselves the distress I have endured. From my perspective, their cuisine is overpriced relative to its quality. While their recipes may be passable, the portions are woefully inadequate, and the quality of their meat and ingredients leaves much to be desired. It is my firm belief that superior culinary experiences, at a more reasonable cost, can be readily obtained through the use of a simple recipe book.
My curiosity is piqued by how Hello Fresh will address this complaint, and I hope they take measures to rectify their lamentable customer service.

Did not refund me either just a joke
I was in the interest placing an order, but it turned out with bad impression and experience. I went online to see how much it will cost to order the meal for my family, in order to see the menu options, step 1. I need to create an account and enter my credit card information ( which is fine because if I like it then I will place orders), after reviewing their meal options and I decided to hold off the try out. I cancelled the subscription and first meal delivery, my account was deactivated. The next thing I know the first order showed up at my door and I was been charge for $75. I called the Customer Service and was told the first initial order cannot be cancelled, and if i don't choose the meal options, the computer will pick the meal for me. So I was forced to accept a box of order and forced to pay for the order wasn't even placed by myself. I got the rep to confirm my account was deactivated, but she told me once the order went out, there's no reverse in payment.
I was in the good impression with hello fresh at beginning that was why I wanted to try it, but with the way they work with customers, and lack in the management( I was told to be contacted by a supervisor with in 2 days; then what am I going to do with the food as I don't want to open it in case they say I open it and the charge will be on me, plus I don't even have room in my fridge for the food they sent to me) I am so disappointed with their service and how it works, all I want is my money to be refunded as I didn't place the order.
My first and last order was never received. When I signed in to check the status Hellofresh showed my order had been delivered, however, the tracking number with UPS showed it had never shipped. I used the Hellofresh chat option (which took forever) and was told they would cancel and give me a refund. That would be acceptable if it wasn't going to take 5-10 days for the refund. They have your money the same day you order and keep it until you complain plus 5-10 days. If they can take my money the same day, they can return it the same day. They are making interest on everyone's money without delivering on the product. When I didn't receive an email confirming my refund I contacted via the chat again. I was told the previous chat agent had not processed my refund, and they didn't send refund emails or give reference numbers.
This is a SCAM! They have your money, no refund confirmation, and had I not reached out again for an email I wouldn't have known the refund had not been submitted. I would have waited 10 days before knowing it hadn't been received, then waited another 10 days for a refund. In the end, they could have held my funds for 30 days.
Update: I received a refund minus 39 cents. I had to contact again and complain a full refund wasn't received. While this is a small amount and normally I would have let it go, it was egregious on their part not to provide the full refund after all of the hassles. In the end, I received the refund quickly, but I would not have had I not taken two hours of my day to complain.
I bought a gift card for my parents for the holidays and when they went to redeem it a credit/debit card was required. I am not sure about others but a gift card should not require any additional funds or financial information to redeem. Hellofresh should change their wording. I would suggest maybe credit towards your purchase at least that that would give the consumer concern when buying. I was informed over the phone that it was required for shipping and I said why cannot they use the money on the gift card towards shipping. I was told they use a 3rd party for shipping and that is why they needed the credit/debit card. Buyers beware of purchasing any gift cards from Hellofresh unless the person you are buying them for already have a Hellofresh account. What they are selling is not a gift card it is more like a subscription credit. Very very very very disappointed and I cancelled the gift card. I am going to let them purchase meals off my account and then and only then they can decide if they want to become a part of Hellofresh without being forced into something. NO MORE GIFT CARDS FROM HERE FOR ME.

Customer Support is polite but useless. CS can't stop affiliate spam despite many requests via chat, email, and even phone — some "elevated" to a supervisor or "expedited". CS refuses to provide any contact info (beyond Customer Service) to marketing, affiliate marketing, or management. CS refuses to provide details about affiliate program spam policies.
The HelloFresh website does not provide an easy opt-out that actually works. (HelloFresh did eventually add a postal junk mail opt-out form that has an optional email field hidden at the bottom, but it is ineffective. HelloFresh site opt-out list now includes some other HF brands, but the form has to be submitted separately for each brand — and requests are ineffective.)
HelloFresh affiliate marketing is out of control. They incent spam and do not care/fail to supervise their spamming affiliates. I receive one to four HelloFresh brand spam emails six or seven days a week, plus those from other HF brands despite numerous chat, email, and phone requests.

I got my first box today around 6:45pm. I had been tracking my box all day because the tracking log was showing that the box was out for delivery since 4:45 am.
By the time I got my box, the food was at room temperature; the ice packs had melted inside the box and water was leaking to the point the outside of the actual box was already wet and falling apart.
One of the dishes in my box was Cob and there is NO way I would eat fish that has been exposed to room temperature all day. So, I called customer service to ask for a refund for the food I had already put in the trash as I don't wish to get food poisoned.
If took a while "to convince" these people that a refund was the best way to go here as I don't wish a free room temperature box of food delivered to my door next week. They "made an exception" and I am supposed to receive a refund in 3-5 business days... So all things being equal, there is always the option to disputed the present and any potential future charges with my credit card... So, let's hope that we don't get to that!
Customer service was good and helpful, yet the quality of product and delivery was poor.; vegetabkes didn't look fresh, but mostly groused; meats were room temperature and overall packing was poor. This is not a service that I would recommend to anybody I know. I was expecting better... What a disappointment!
I am giving a one star review because about a week ago, I signed up through Hello Fresh to see their meal plans. At the time, I did not realize there was a work around to this (although the work around seems to take you to sample menus, not what is specifically offered at that time). When signing up, you had to give credit card info. I thought no big deal, because if I don't see anything good, I won't order. I didn't see anything that would meet my family's specific dietary needs, so I canceled my account and went on with life. Today, I received an email that my Hello Fresh order was out for delivery. I immediately get on with their customer service because I never chose meals or confirmed a purchase or a delivery. First person tells me not to be mad at them (I wasn't irate or upset at this point) and passes me to a very rude manager. This manager tells me that as soon as I signed up I agreed to get a delivery no matter what, per their Terms and Conditions. I said I can't even eat the food because it won't work for us. After over an hour of back and forth, they just basically give me too bad so sad and said my account is canceled, but no returns and no refunds ever. So now I have a delivery of food that we can't eat, can't return, and got charged for without my consent. I am escalating this to the BBB because I have seen many reviews of this same story and Hello Fresh continues to charge, even after canceling and refuses to ever refund. Charges will be disputed through my bank on Monday morning. I do not recommend Hello Fresh because of their shady business practices and terrible customer service.
I cancelled my order twice and they reinitiated the subscription withput my authorization. They sent me foods they picked out and delivered while i was on vacation! The food spoiled sitting outside and were things i would NEVER order. I called them and they were rude, condascending talking over me, and reluctant to take responsibility. Their food also stinks! I WILL NEVER EVER DEAL WITH THEM AGAIN. Total AS*HOLES.
I retrieved the box minutes after it was delivered. Upon unpacking, our kitchen filled with a garbage truck aroma. The food was warm and smelly.
This website demanded I give them my credit card information in order to just look at the food options but promised they wouldnt charge me unless I ordered. So I looked at the food and it all looked super mediocre and then I saw that they had decided to go ahead and charge my card anyway. I cancelled the order Three Times through the website but nothing changed. Finally I got ahold of Customer Support and after arguing with an unhelpful woman for 20 minutes, she agreed to cancel the order and deactivate my account. A week goes by and I see a 30$ charge (that was already cancelled 4 times now, and was supposed to be free but that was a blatant lie) on my card. I call customer support Again and had to spend 45 minutes being spoken down to, disrespected, and ignored about my problem. Finally after arguing and pleading for this woman to refund the money this $#*!ty company had stolen from me, she got her supervisor to step in. They finally refunded by order and (hopefully) deactivated my account, all be it begrudgingly. This is by far the worse experience I've had with any kind of food service and an even worse experience with their customer service. Horrible, awful company. They will try to promise you "17 free meals!" and then charge you a minimum of 30$ for it. Doesn't seem very free to me. I will be telling everyone who will listen to never use or support this disgusting company.
I had an account and received a box with spoiled ingredients I called them and they were very friendly and refunded me it happened again 2 more times the vegetables in one and the meat in the other were spoiled so I called to cancle. They talked me into putting my act on hold then starting back up in 3 months. It restarted on the beginning of June. I was charged but didn't receive a box. I was refunded since I never received it. I then got my next box and yet again it had spoiled ingredients. I forgot to cancle so I contacted them in the website on the 13th and told them what happened and went online to cancle my act on the 17th. For some reason it didn't go through and I woke up to an overdraft fee in my act and charged for yet another box. I called to tell them something went wrong and they told me the system was locked and they couldn't do anything. However they could cancle my act right then (properly). I am so mad i shouldn't have had to call the company this many times. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THEM! TO ANYONE. I'm highly dissatisfied.
Tried Hello Fresh, recieved 5 meals fast shipping, first meal Pork Taco's open bag to cook meal, NO PORK! Contact thru chat, offer me 20 dollars back, 2nd meal Lemon Italian chicken, Open bag NO CHICKEN! Contact again thru chat, I check remaining 3 meals, they forgot the meat in all 5 meals, gave me refund canceled contract!
I tried Hello Fresh for the first time this week. Their website is completely misleading- I entered my credit card expecting to be able to pick my meals for my first box, only to find out that everything was meat based. On Feb 8th I found the option to order my meal kit and I opted for all vegetarian meals. I thought everything was good (I even have a screenshot of my order confirmation page that says I'd be receiving vegetarian meals), but when the box arrived (Feb 22nd) it contained 3 meat-based meals. I was on hold for 20 minutes to chat with a customer service rep only to be told that even if you change your meal preferences it doesn't guarantee that the order will go through (this goes against the terms on their website that says meal selections must be made within 4 days of shipment). The company offered me a credit to use on my 5th box. Such a joke- why would I continue to use the service with no guarantee that the correct meals would even arrive. Now I have a bunch of meals I can't eat and I'm out $20. If you care about what you eat don't order from Hello Fresh.
UPDATE 3/8/21: Hello Fresh contacted me and offered to refund the amount I paid on my first box and to provide a second box for free. For my second box I ordered the vegetarian menu and the correct food arrived this time! The meals were tasty, but unfortunately the box arrived damaged. The eggs were broken and the zucchinis were so badly bruised that they were leaking out of the bag. We decided to cancel the membership because of the shipping problems.
I trialed Hello Fresh for 2 weeks and really enjoyed the flavor of all the meals. I love trying new grains, vegetables, and seasonings and got hooked on a few new food items in just the 2 week trial. I did cancel my subscription after 2 weeks, however, for a few reasons. First, the freshness of produce left something to be desired. In my first week, an onion in one meal kit went bad and molded within 3 days of delivery. In the 2nd week, my "fresh" carrots went completely limp and bad within 4 days of delivery. I have carrots in my fridge from 3 weeks ago that still aren't limp or bad so I'm not sure how the Hello Fresh produce is spoiling so quickly unless they are using poor quality food to begin with. Second, I had missing ingredients in 40% of my meal kits from both weeks of my trial. I understand a missing ingredient now and then but the consistency concerned me, especially for the price of the meal kits. If I am paying a premium price for someone to compile and ship ingredients to me, I don't want to have to go purchase or make missing ingredients on my own. I contacted the company about the missing ingredients and was given a $17 credit on a future box. Not very helpful given that I've already cancelled my subscription. Overall, I can't recommend Hello Fresh to friends and family and I won't be resubscribing either. Between missing ingredients and poor quality produce, it's just not worth the premium price for this subscription.

Answer: I signed up and realised its a scam - your first order is only able to be placed 2 weeks away, meaning they get your money even if you use a coupon... and from other reviews they won't let you cancel. I just registered a voucher, saw the dates and tried to cancel... and can't - there is no "cancel" on their website
Answer: You will still have to pay for delivery and such because this company says those things cannot be covered by a gift card. Beware signing up, because they will subscribe you as soon as you enter credit card information. It is in their Terms and Conditions at the beginning of the process.
Answer: You're automatically on auto ship…any week you don't overtly cancel will get sent out and you'll get charged.
Answer: Nor really. They will want to give you a partial refund of the single ingredient you found to be of poor quality... and that's if you want to take the time to navigate the website to find out how to do it. Their website is totally designed to make customer service difficult.
