They have the worst customer service They messed up my order multiple times and it's impossible to reach anyone. Find another company to order from if you can. I work in customer service, and they really are one of the worst companies to deal with. Extremely incompetent!

I received a box as a gift. Harry & David used to be known for their delightful boxes and *orgasmic* pears. Sadly, that is no longer the case. The box I received had heavy items in glass jars packed atop pears, which were rotten! Brown patches and obviously overripe, they were low quality when they were packed. Further, they were quite small sized. They looked to me as "bottom of the barrel" for the season.

I called customer service which also used to have a great reputation for problem solving. Now they are awful. I was on hold for 38 minutes before I gave up and went to chat. It took 40 minutes for a rep to join.
In total I was on chat for 1 hour and 22 minutes! Endless merry-go-round of this box was a gift (repeated 7 times), what info do you want from the label, I have pictures - none of this made any difference to the rep. They just continued to repeat they need the account number or the account name, neither of which is on the label. I gave the address info and exactly what was inside. I finally got an agreement to replace the box, then was told it would take up to 3 weeks to arrive. The final jab was the replacement box contained even smaller pears which never ripened.

How many recipients have been saddened by getting a box in the condition I did? How many people would let the sender know? It makes one wonder if this is now standard practice at Harry & David, based on scads of other bad reviews across myriad sites. If I had never tasted a Harry & David pear a few years ago, I would have thrown the whole mess in the garbage and never wasted my time.

I looked up the cost of the box received, it was over $160...for Harry & David to send rotten pears. I urge you to read other reviews and strongly consider shopping another business.

Do not order from them

My gift was not sent out to my recipient.They sent an apology letter to them and told me that the gift would be reshipped Well, it never was. It was a completely tacky and terrible experience. Hold times are over two hours.I don't know what's happened to this company, but they've gone down the tubes significantly. Save yourself, hassle and disappointment, Do not order from them!

Absolutely terrible experience. We placed a $2,500 order 3 weeks in advance, paid for guaranteed delivery this Tuesday - and none of the packages but 2 showed up - both sent to the wrong address. The other 21 packages never shipped. My co-worker has spent a combined 6 hours on hold at this point trying to talk to a human, when someone finally picked up the phone yesterday (from a call center in India), the call disconnected after less than 3 minutes, after she'd waited on hold for over 3 hours. The same thing happened just now.
Harry and David cleared a profit of 1.43 BILLION dollars last year, but they can't competently staff a call center with people who speak English "if you're not delighted!". Spoiler alert - we're nowhere near "delighted", Harry and David. We are appalled at what is clearly unbridled corporate greed for your CEOs, while you pay pennies on the dollar for a call center in another country because you're too cheap to pay American workers. Disgusting.
RUN from this company. I could not be more dissatisfied.

It's now 2 days past when our 23 boxes should have arrived, and the other 21 have not shipped, and we can't get anyone on the phone. This company is just stealing from people at this point.

Never again will I order from Harry & David! They took my order & money for items that were unavailable and have lied to me for 10 days. Can't provide a confirmation of refund, no accountability for all of their lying customer no service representatives, and refuse to make this right.

Very happy
December 20, 2023

A gift came to us and a pear was frozen I'm sure due to the UPS truck. I called them & they are sending out a replacement pears. Other than that I can't say enough about how delicious the dessert was. I've have lot of dense chocolate cakes but this small dense cake was out of this world delicious. I'm now trying to see if I can buy just the cake. Great company. Roberta from Ct.

Don't buy oranges
December 5, 2023

I recently purchased naval and sweet bell oranges, they might have been good if they were picked ripe- these 2 boxes were both picked very green and there is no way to ripen citrus fruit - better oranges by far from local grocery- these had no flavor and were very dry not juicy- careful if you try ordering them for a gift

I received a Xmas gift today and opened it immediately, what a disappointment, the Pears look like they came from the reduced price rack at my local grocer or worse. I called them and the wait was one and a half hours, I instead E-mailed them with photos, after several hours, no response. How do you respond in a positive way to the gift sender?

Chicken Pot Pie Dinner
February 11, 2023

We purchased the chicken pot pie dinner from Harry & David as a sympathy gift. I just heard back and was told the meal and wine were absolutely delicious. Makes me so happy to bring a little joy to a grieving family. I highly recommend this meal along with the Chardonnay. I dont have photos as I live in a different state as the recipient.

Received box of H&D Royal Pears. Had 2 discard almost 1/2 the box: badly bruised/spoiled. Using online "Chat" replacement box now being sent. Have received H&D gifts at least 6-10 times. Gift givers had big hearts: H&D products/gifts were acceptable quality 4 price giver paid. Personally I'll never use H&D due to their quality standards. (I tried entering proof of purchase however photo would not upload.)

Harry & David's products are great and cannot be beat. However, today I had a rather torturous experience with a customer representative. The rep was polite. So I hung in with him. Am writing because customer services needs to do a better job on screening reps and on training them with respect to products and software used. The rep's difficulties were exacerbated by having English as a second language (ESL). The rep was dealing with a lot and while always polite--seemed overwhelmed. Suggestion: monitor/train/support ESL speakers on product, software, and related issues. Thank you.

Harry & David Customer Service contacted me after my negative review. They replaced my disappointing original purchases with something else of my choosing. I selected Moose Munch. My husband selected the dark chocolate truffles. Customer Service was very friendly and accommodating. The replacement purchases arrived promptly. My lesson from this experience is not to order anything with fresh fruit. So, although my original review remains negative, I report that Customer Service was very good.

My husband and I are T-Mobile customers and for T-Mobile Tuesday's (free stuff), we each received a coupon for $25 discount on an order of $50. I have never ordered from Harry & David's before, but I have purchased Moose Munch from TJ Maxx, so thought I would take advantage of the offer. I had planned on gifting to my grandson's family, but fortunately they could not make it home for Christmas this year. I received this box on December 24. I opened the box of pears today. They have absolutely no taste. Just bland. They ripened in the box just like the instructions tell me to do, but no taste. I may try cooking with them just so I don't have to throw them away. But what a disappointment! In the second box, one of the apples was rotten. I wish I had read these reviews before ordering. Funny that they don't have any reviews on their website. I am so happy that I didn't have to embarrass myself by giving them to my grandson and his family. I would have been mortified if he had received these. My first experience with Harry & David's will certainly be my last. Never again. I'll let T-Mobile know that this was a terrible idea.

Food For Thought

The comice pears they sell are usually delicious. Once you eat a ripened Comice pear (peeled) you will never go back for any other. We eat them with vanilla ice cream, chocolate sauce, a splash of brandy and whipped cream. That said, at $5-$10 a pound plus shipping they should be fabulous! Should your pears prove to be less than perfect, a quick call to Harry and David and they will send a replacement to your door free of charge! The price is high; but you know the recipient will receive a quality gift.

Honestly, this is the worst vendor I've ever used. I've wasted hours this year trying to get a simple $600 order to go through. Their customer service team is poorly trained and in countless ways they've messed up my order this year. I've had issues in the past too. If you want to spend $600 with a vendor only to have to spend countless hours following up with them when the order is not processed properly (and having to wait 1+ hours each time waiting on the phone or chat) only to have them keep messing up the order then Harry & David is the vendor of choice for your holiday gift giving. I'll never work with them again.

I placed an order for over $600, then spent the next 2 days trying to clarify delivery dates and items purchased. They have NO customer Service - the people do not understand you, they don't know the product and are unable to answer the simplest question - plus the background noise was deafening - must be 20 people in a closet. My last trip to Harry & David was today - ever!

Couldn't understand the customer service rep. She didn't listen to me. My order was refunded to my bank account. I asked why. Couldn't give me answer. I will not recommend them to anyone else. There are many companies that do the same thing. I asked for a supervisor and they couldn't give me one either.
Too long on the phone.

They used to be good, very good- good product and good delivery. The past year they suck. They can't get the right order out or an order out in time. So DO NOT USE THEM IF YOU WANT YOUR GIFT TO ARRIVE IN TIME.
One order was lost in Limbo for 2 months. Then sent a replacement which was cheaper and nothing like I ordered. The second order not delivered.
Time to shut this 1-800-Flowers site down and rebrand or get better logistics and better customer service service
Oh- customer service. Forget customer service. They don't respond to live chat and when you do get a person, they really don't understand what you're saying. Very frustrating.

Would have give zero stars

Worst company ever when it comes to customer service
I put in an order and noticed that they mentioned a deliver date on the 20th Nov. I called them up to have it changed to the 12th Nov.
The rep said it was good and it showed up online as that

12th Nov came and past but no delivery. So I called up on the 13th. I was then told there was no way they could deliver it until 21st of Nov.
Given the people I was gifting it to will be gone I cancelled it and asked to make sure that the refund included a gift card that I have used for the transaction
5 days later I received notification from my bank and of course the only thing refunded was without the gift card sum

Annoying. Will never use them again

My broker sent me a gorgeous fruit and nut arrangement. Unfortunately I didn't know it was coming, was out of town and it sat in 90 degree heat for 10 days. I contacted the company to ask if it was okay to eat. They did not answer, but said they would send a replacement. That was August 29,2024. The replacement NEVER arrived and all kinds of different people have assured me via Facebook messenger 5 DIFFERENT TIMES OVER 2 1/2 MONTHS that it has been ordered and rest assured there is a slight delay, and just reach out for us if you need anything else. And then they say that "this is not the kind of service we pride ourselves in providing." You cannot reach them by phone or by e-mail. They are clearly unethical and not to be trusted.
