40-minute hold. Terrible customer service and poor decision-making.
I ordered two packages: one was a Thanksgiving dinner, and the other was a dessert package (chocolate-covered strawberries, cupcakes, cookies, and wine). Both packages were set up for signature required, which wouldn't have been a problem since they could have been signed for at the address I provided, where adults with proper identification were available if that was an issue.
However, Harry & David made the decision to ship the dessert package with alcohol to a FedEx holding facility instead, as if the person who ordered it was a child. This was completely unnecessary and really annoying. The Thanksgiving dinner was delivered to my address, so why not the dessert?
I contacted FedEx, but they immediately redirected me to Harry & David. When I reached out to Harry & David, I was initially told the package was still in transit. After pointing out that it had already been sent to the FedEx facility, I was informed it was due to a wine compliance issue in my state and was given another number to call.
Here's the problem: if there's a wine compliance issue in my state, why are you accepting orders from customers in that state in the first place? It makes no sense. This experience has been extremely frustrating. My solution: I am gonna have to have it shipped back to sender and await then to give me a refund. Not a huge issue, but a huge annoyance.
Dear Customers,
PLEASE stay away from this company! They doing what they want with all orders. Changing, cancelling, rescheduling, loosing info in system and finally delivering something that you never would choose!. Horrible! Don't even try to do any business with Harry and David. It is not the same company what use to be a few years ago!
This was my first time using this company and it will certainly be my last, I used them to send a gift basket for a milestone birthday, paid extra for shipping which they failed to deliver, I had them enclose a birthday card with a message and instead they just sent the card with no message the recipient had to call to find out who sent it,which was embarrassing, they told me they would refund my card of the delivery charges and I'm still waiting it has been two weeks.
I ordered their Happy Valentine's Day Sweets Gift Box for $140 plus shipping. Their website made it look very nice, professionally arranged, etc. It arrived with all the individual items jumbled in one big pile in the box. Very unromantic, thoughtless and scattered. Value of the contents was probably about $40. Arrangement and presentation was absolutely worthless. And, they included some big coupons in the box for the next time someone loses their mind and orders from them. Rip off, unprofessional company.
Products are ok, but about half of my transactions with this company had unusually random problems crop up (all on their end), which then require human contact via phone or chat. I realize that I'm half of the language barrier, but it's happened so many times now I've seen a solid pattern of polite apologies alternated with intentionally not understanding or responding to whatever the issue may be. They'll keep you going as long as possible, even for hours, until you give up in frustration. It makes zero sense for a legit business to run this way, it almost feels like there's something else going on.
I give them ZERO stars folks. I've been a customer for years, not anymore. I placed my usual Christmas order, and a week later I get a very suspicious call and email stating there was an issue with my card. Red flags all over, improper English, asking for credit info, phone numbers don't match website. So I call web number, got a good CS rep, she verified my info and insured me that there was nothing wrong with my order or card. Fast forward to Christmas, No cookies. I check to see if they were delivered, nope, CANCELLED! No email or call, they just up and cancelled the order, so my 98 yo grandmother got nothing. I sent them an email, and the response was pitiful. No apology, no explanation, nada. They were a good company, once. Not anymore. Stay away, order something from Amazon.
My mil sends fruit every year. For three years they were mediocre, but I didn't want her to know bc she's so sweet. This year? Rotten to the point of mold. Forty five minutes on hold. They offer a chocolate that sounded yummy. Oh, wait! Unavailable! A different chocolate box... it's Dec 21,2020. They will be available for Valentine's Day. Seriously?
Spent almost 7 hours trying to find out where the meal was... their website cannot be trusted to give accurate information about delivery. The company seems to have grown too big and can no longer offer the trust that is needed for something such as a Thanksgiving Dinner delivery. BIG RED FLAG... Do not trust them to deliver anything on time.
My daughter sent a basket that cost her over $230. It contains a number of food items and 7 pears. It's the pears that I am shocked about. They look like rejects no one would buy. Small, blemished, dark marks, just a joke.
Received 6 lb box of pears yesterday. Pears bruised and mottled, some with mildew spots. Not pretty fruit. Not nice for sharing, either. Send a gift card to a local vendor, and let recipient buy fresh produce or whatever they'd like. Plus you won't have to pay shipping.
Overly priced pears with A meat stick and some crackers, cheese and relish, oh and a small assortment of chocolates. Amazing that individuals waste money to order such a low quality over priced item to send to loved ones for special occasions. Sad that people are gullible enough to buy such a gift expecting friends/family to love it. Although I appreciate loved ones for thinking of me their money would be better spent sitting in their purse or wallet. If only there website had true not "fake" reviews!
Gift box arrived. Pears look awful. Not even the grocery sells fruit that looks like this. Called company and got some guy in India. He claimed he's ordered a replacement to be sent. I asked when will it arrive. He said oh let me see IF we still have this.
So what DID he do when he "ordered a replacement to be sent". Supposedly the replacement is arriving in 9 days.
Generally I order moose munch and am very happy, but this year I wanted to buy cashews for my mom. I was really disappointed when I opened the box and saw how small the gift was. I guess I didn't realize how little 10 oz. Of nuts is and the picture is misleading and has no accurate reference points like fruit or an average sized holiday card. I normally buy 3 to 4 times the cashews at the grocery store for about 12.99. Fortunately I only paid Harry and David the 19.99 sale price, so I was merely disappointed instead of fuming (which I would have been had I paid thirty dollars for this tiny tin).
H&D used to be good about making things right if there was a problem. No longer. My order was not delivered by the date promised (a birthday), and has not been delivered as of yet. They were willing to re-send--and charge me for the new order, without cancelling the charges on the original order. So basically I would be paying double for an order that would be late! I was surprised at their lack of true customer service. Have used H&D for several years now for holiday & b-day gifts but will be finding another company from here on.
After selecting a basket for a death and a family based on the clear as day promo stating free today express delivery included I then received a confirmation stating it would be over a week to deliver which was way too long considering the funeral was in 3 days of purchase. I went on chat to make sure we got it within those two days and was given contradicting false information of their delivery process and the rep would not accommodate us at all until I inform them that I would report this to the general attorneys consumer affairs office for false advertisement which was already too late!
Had an international gift box shipped overseas as a wedding gift. Both jar lids came off in transit although the actual jars didn't break. 10 days in transit and everything was covered in sticky goo. The food looks super unappetizing. The box recipients were embarrassed just as I was. Harry and David shipped out new jars but I am leery of their packing and shipping. I was given a 20% off coupon for the inconvenience. 20% for embarrassment and inconvenience - I get better coupons for free from other companies! Sent an email to tell them what happened and received no acknowledgment at all. Waste of time and money - will not recommend HD to anyone and I am done doing business with them.
Received a beautiful package from our daughter for Christmas. One of the boxes had 2 apples, one was perfect, the other was seriously spoiled. See Photo. Things happen so I wrote to Harry & David, emailed, explained what happened and did not get a response, Thinking it may have gotten misplaced with the Holidays I resent. Still have not received any reply nor did our daughter received an type of credit or refund.
Rotten fruit in shipment received, and other items in ruin. Extreme hold times with customer service only to receive minimal, very weak effort a t service recovery. Could not even get a full refund. A terrible experience all around.
Their products are good, but their customer service is horrible. If you have any questions, there is no way to get an answer. Basic question on what the shelf life was for their cookies. Called, on hold for an hour, rep could not find an answer and said she would call me back. (It's been 8 hours). Went online to their online chat. After an hour of chat (just me, because the response was always, "give me a moment", "sorry for the delay" and finally it was "I can't find that answer". And then I was disconnected. Come on Harry and David, You can do better than that. Very frustrating. Just hoping I am not eating expired food.
My mom sent a condolence gift to my husband and myself after his dad passed. The box arrived over a week after it was supposed to and the crackers were smashed. I'm afraid to eat the cheese because there is no way to know if it's been sitting in a hot truck for days or not. There are so many better options out there for food basket gifts.
Answer: I'll be going to other companies NOW. Business LOST.
Answer: In the past this company offered excellent quality products--albeit a bit overpriced. Now the price is the same (or higher) but the quality has definitely gone downhill. Not sure if the company was bought out or what, but... I will never order from them again. They have done permanent damage to their reputation and their customer base is eroding quickly.
Answer: Why do you think any of these reviews have anything to do with Politics? That's pretty crazy assumption. My basket was 2 weeks late and that is not Political. It's facts.
Answer: I wasn't able to order products because of the quality of their customer service representatives.
Answer: It isn't difficult to reach them via phone, just be prepared for hold times. I would definitely recommend calling them rather than email, the email correspondence I had with them was hopeless.
