I've given this site an 'OK' because it's visually stimulating and nicely designed but has TERRIBLE navigation problems and constantly aims to force you into opening an account. When you go onto the site, sometimes a pop up box comes up covering the whole thing and stopping your navigation until you create an account! There is no 'close x' tab for the pop up! It's ridiculous. I even had to email them to ask how you're supposed to view all the deals, or search them, as when you use the city-specific site for your town, there are only a few deals to view. However, if you google the same terms you will find tonnes of offers they're not showing you. I could have hit my head against the desk in frustration trying to get around that mess of a site. Also, when I was finally bamboozled into creating an account, I was promised 120 credits (I still don't know what these are as their amazing website fails to have it anywhere clearly). However despite getting onto the bit that says 'get 120 credits in the next 30 secs' sort of thing and filling in the required field, I am then asked to recommend a friend. Having read this section before, I know the friend then has to buy something through the site for you to get a £6 credit, but this is not mentioned in this section of registration. Not wanting to harass my friends and knowing I could access the link later if necessary, I skipped this step. Then after checking my account, I can see that no credits were awarded me for the registration. I haven't even ordered with them and I'm already beyond annoyed with the site. What a mess!

I can't deny that these reviews haven't helped my opinion either, seems I was saved just in time from wasting my money as well as my time. Think I will be un-subscribing. If you want real deals, just chat to shop owners and try to get a discount, be on the ball and ask for what you want or you'll never get it. Try discount shopping at local supermarkets- Morrisons slash the prices of food nearing its sell-by date, I've done a weekly shop there for £3.80 for 2 people- now THAT'S a good deal!

This site has one HUGE flaw, it is bad for most businesses.
I talk to over 100 businesses a week in my own business and this hurts "most" businesses. The ones it doesn't hurt is companies that can do the offer and it really doesn't cost them anything or very little anyway. Example: Hot air balloon rides, sure they can take it from 1 person going up to 4 and it not cost them anymore, so Groupon is good for them, but VERY few businesses is this the case.

Remember this is from speaking to so many actual business owners, what happens is they lose their shirt on the deal hoping for all of what Groupon pitches, and they end up not seeing a return, or people don't end coming back without another "deal", they only came in because it was soooo cheap, I mean who wouldn't buy this for 80% off right?

So it is a WIN-WIN-LOSE lose from "most" businesses... be careful!

Groupon sent me expired codes. After calling a first time with no resolve the gentleman told me I had to call fandago to get my code, this is after being on the phone with them for over 30 minutes. So I called they told me because I bought the item from groupon, the companied I purchased the item from, I would have to call groupon back. Which is what I tried to explain to the guy, from groupon, the first time. So I call groupon back, and what about another 25 minutes just to speak to someone. When I finally gets someone on the line and explain the situation to them, he hangs up on me. Then I call a third time and this new guy is more difficult to deal with, what dont these people understand I paid for a ticket and someone else used it before I purchased it. It wasnt my fault and this wasnt as complicated as groupon made it out to be. All I wanted to do is go out and use the item I purchase. I eventually got it, after alot of hassle, and alot of my time wasted. It so was not worth it. PS offering someone a $10 coupon for messing thier order is stupid because Im never going to use it, Im never going on thier site

On the Groupon website they have a video and make a big deal about customer's being happy and how they'll issue refunds and this is actually not true. I've contacted them 4 times regarding one groupon with a vendor and the really bad problems and they ignored my problems and yet sent me a survey about my satisfaction with their response. I was not happy with their non-response. And then I discovered that this is actually a problem that a lot of people are experiencing. I won't purchase another Groupon due to their flat out lies and poor service.

I bought my first Groupon this week that claimed a savings of "up to" 50% on a restaurant meal at Boulevard Grill in Springfield, MA. I paid $25 for the Groupon, which entitled me to one app and two entrees. So we went last night. The place is cute but a bit pricey at $14 - $19 an entree for that type of place. So, we got boneless chicken wings (which were delicious) and two entrees (chicken marsala and chicken parmegan) for $13.95 and $14.95. The food is good -- not fabulous --but good. I would go back and try their sub and sandwich selections as, for the price, I'd rather go to a more upscale restaurant for those entree prices. BUT, here's where the Groupon falls short. Taking off the price of one app and two entrees ($36 and change), we saved a total of $11.36. That is FAR short of the"up to" 50%, which could NEVER happen given the price of the meals. So that doesn't even hold up to a savings of 25% and could never get higher. I think Groupon might have some deals, but this wasn't one of them.

Can't tell you how many I've bought with 100% satisfaction. They even keep on my back with emails when one is about to expire shortly. Refunded two when the restaurants went out of business before we could use them. Just got back from a vacation 2 weeks ago where we bought the hotel room with a groupon. They answer emails in a timely fashion as well. Just make sure you can use it before it expires.

I dont like groupon for encouraging bad businesses, do they review the the business that offers the groupon. I had purchased couple of times spa package groupon and the first time I tried to make an appointment with this business and they dont care to answer my call at all then after number of calls they never answered my call. I had to ask for refund from groupon. Then I got this spa package again in a different package now I keep trying to book an appointment they say they are not available. Each time I ask for appointment they say they are full and they sold like 1000 groupons why would I want a spa package for like 3 months later from groupon when for 20$ more I can do a walk in at any spa location. So either groupon review the business and only sell limited groupons per business and see to that the customer is satisfied or not. One more thing I got this Groupon Good bluetooth headphone for $35 with $5 shipping and a car massager which like $40.00 both are very crappy they are sub standard and I got one on motorolo bluettoth for $50 which is really good. So people dont buy unbranded stuff from groupon becasue you will regret it.

Please please review groupon new refund policy. Maybe it's just this particular rep, but she seems to be banking on the possibility that I don't read their policy.

I called groupon for a refund (I changed my mind within the stated 7 days) - after they didn't reply my email after 2 days, but the customer service rep initially told me that she couldn't refund me just because I changed my mind. When I pointed out that the stated policy did not make that distinction and I can do a refund if it's within 7 days, she back-pedaled a little and said she can fix this on a case-by-case basis, and in this case, she will refund it to me as Groupon credit. Again I insisted that their policy allows for immediate refund back to credit card, and again she back-pedaled (and sort of panicked) and told me to hold on as she needed to talk to someone. After a few minutes she came back and completed the refund process.

I confronted her at the end about the way she handled my case (trying to convince me that their refund policy was different) and had to be 'forced' to live up to the Groupon promise, and she gave me excuses about how she was only trying to review the refund policy at each step (where first she said she cannot do the refund, and then can only refund as credit, and finally yes, she can refund in full). I'm disappointed on how this was handled. Although I got my refund at the end, I don't understand why she made it that difficult and seemed to try to avoid refunding, where per their policy, it should be a clear cut case. I'm very disappointed in Groupon, I thought they were better than that.

OMG, I wish that I did some research on groupon.com before buying stuff from them! They offere a 'great deal' on electric toobrush, and ordered 2 of them, trusting that that was really a good deal. I got the package from some unknown 'bling' brand that claimed a value of $200+ and they were selling it for $69.
Lesson learned. NEVER use Groupon.com EVER again.

Don't buy here it's just not worth the savings if you never get the services. They treat customers like criminals and their defaulting vendors like heros!

Hi El,

Thank you for taking the time to share your opinion here on SiteJabber. I am very sorry for any inconvenience you have experienced.

Please rest assured that our site is not a scam. It sounds like your package was unfortunately lost after it was shipped, which can happen from time to time. However, when this happens, we are happy to contact the shipping company on your behalf and look into the issue for you. It does take the shipping company 8 days to complete the investigation, but if the shipping company is unable to locate the missing package, members absolutely receive a full refund for the order they did not receive.

If you have any further concerns, or if I can help you with a specific order, please don't hesitate to send me a message here on SiteJabber.

If you enjoy paying $18.00 for the privilege of trying on ill-fitting merchandise, then returning it at your own expense, this may be the place for you. But I'd have to be a masochist to continue shopping here, when I can go to a great discount retailer near where I live and try on as many items as I want for FREE. Just received two uncomfortable not well tailored items; paid $10 for shipping and was forced to pay $8.00 to return, since you cannot return the way you choose, and you only receive a free return if you agree to park your money at Ideeli (how convenient for them!) in the hope of repeating the process some time in the future. Never again!

Hi Dee,

Thank you for your comments here on SiteJabber. I am sorry to hear you are disappointed with our shipping policy, and I understand your frustration.

Please know that the $7.95 return fee is to cover the cost of return shipping. Our prices would have to be significantly higher if we paid the cost of return shipping. Instead, we’d rather pass those savings on to you as part of the ideeli shopping experience.

We also offer store credit for the full cost of the returned item instead of a credit card refund for members who wish to avoid the return shipping fee. I believe that our shipping policy strikes a good balance that considers all the needs of our members.

If you have any further questions, please do not hesitate to send me a message. I would be happy to address any other concerns you may have.

Best,

Never responded to e-mails when my voucher wouldn't work (online code for a race). Race director refused to honor it. Waste of $30 and several hours of my life. I will never buy another Groupon again. Buyer beware!

I've ordered from them twice. Shipping was a little slow but otherwise the clothes were great and the customer service was brilliant. One of my returns was delayed but I still received a credit. I had to contact customer service a couple of times and on both occasions their responses were immediate. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them.

Groupon is a good idea but needs to have strict guidelines to the vendors that post specials.
I have written to Groupon to be very specific on the offers but have not heard back.
Vendors that post the specials are not clear in their offers on what is covered and what is not.
Groupon needs to have very strict guidelines and ask the vendors that either they have the capacity to accept the discounts/specials that they post on groupon or specifically mention what is not covered so customers know and don't have to be embarrassed later.

I purchased a lovely pair of BCBG shoes. I placed my order on Sunday and had my shoes by Thursday! I was surprised with the quick delivery and I can`t complain about shipping, however I noticed that some items are being shipped for a long time. I guess you need to check the shipping dates before you place your order. It might be a problem for some people to wait that long but since you pay less for the product it`s shouldn`t be a big deal.

It was my first item purchased through this website and I can honestly say i was satisfied and would recommend it as well as use it again.

Hi Agnieska,

Thank you so much for your message! I am so happy to hear you are enjoying your ideeli shopping experience!

And yes, you are correct. Members do need to check the shipping dates before they place their orders. We do not keep inventory, and this is how we can keep our prices so low. As a result, we receive our products directly from the vendor, and this is why shipping dates can vary. You can find the estimated shipping dates for every item on each product page under the "Add to Cart" button. And if there is any confusion, please know that you may reach out to us on Live Chat for immediate assistance.

Thanks again for your message and should you ever have any concerns, please do not hesitate to send me a message. Happy shopping!

I keep having the worse experience ever with this website. Twice I bought products that ran out... well it can happens... but I wasn't noticed until I received the package and their was a pencil note on my invoice. Really? Another time I had to return a product, I used the credit I had to purchase something later on, and was supposed to still have 20$ in credit, which disappeared. I had to argue with customer service so much over email. And after 2 weeks they credited it back, without even an apology. NOT WORTH IT AT ALL! There are better similar sites out there with better service, and deals which are as good if not better! I WILL NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM THEM AGAIN, AND WILL TELL MY FRIENDS TO STAY FAR AWAY FROM IT TOO!

Hi Deborah,

I am so sorry to hear that you are disappointed with your customer service experience. I would like to personally apologize for the trouble you have experienced. You absolutely should not have to go back and forth with us for two weeks via email to receive your credit, and I am very sorry for this.

Also, I am very sorry you did not receive items you purchased. Please know that we do not continue to sell items if we are out of stock of the item. If you would like to send me a message with your order details, I would be happy to look into what happened for you.

If you have any additional concerns, you may also reach out to me at any time here on Site Jabber. I appreciate your feedback, and I sincerely apologize again for the inconvenience.

Bought 5 Groupon vouchers... silly me. Should have bought one and checked it worked properly first. I've been a frequent user of Living Social Deals with no problems. Thought it would be much the same, but no...
First voucher... tried to redeem it and the merchant won't honour it as he says he's in dispute with Groupon. Have now managed to get my money back after ages on hold on the phoone to them.
2nd and 3rd vouchers... went to redeem them and the merchant says that what is on the voucher isn't what he agreed with Groupon. Rang them (another half hour on hold first) and they agreed that what it said on the voucher is not what they meant but refused to refund them.
4th Voucher... Given as a gift but when the recipient went to use it, it scanned that it was already used. It couldn't possibly have been as the voucher was only taken to that city the same day. How embarrassing, especially as the person had then to pay again for their own present. Contacted groupon (another half an hour on hold) who needed confirmation from the merchant but I had to organise that, they wouldn't. Contacted the Merchant to liaise with them and still waiting for a refund despite involvement with The Office of Fair trading. Have emailed them 3 times but never had a response yet and thats over 4 weeks.
5th voucher worked well. 1/5 sounds about right to score this crew. DON'T HAVE A BAR OF THEM. Yes the deals sound great, but if anything goes wrong you've had it. You can't get through on the phone for ages, they're only open office hours, don't respond to emails, don't care about trying to put things right.

From the business

Groupon is the largest "daily deal" site, selling vouchers for discounted local experiences and services such as restaurants and spas, as well as travel packages, shopping, and a number of other items. Vouchers are purchased upfront and typically must be redeemed by a certain date, after which time Groupons expire. To businesses Groupon markets itself as a way to drive new customers.
