I have purchased a few Groupon deals and the only one I didn't have an issue with was one of the Groupon Now deals.
I purchased two vouchers for pizza from Papa Johns. One went through just fine but the other would not work at all. After 4 months of emailing, calling, speaking to several different representatives, explaining the story multiple times, being reassured they the issue was resolved only to try to order a pizza that was already paid for and getting denied did they finally issued me a refund to my credit card. I even had to fight for that because they wanted to issue me a Groupon credit. I still chalked it up to being a one time instance.
Recently, I ordered a Groupon for a tattoo, really great deal. Time had lapsed which was my fault completely and I know the place would honor my Groupon for at least the amount I paid but this place was really far away and gas prices had raised over a dollar in that short period of time. The amount of the Groupon deal justified the drive but not when it expired. I wrote Groupon asking for an exception since the tattoo parlor was a 112 mile drive round trip and I wouldn't only have to make the trip once but twice. My reply from Groupon was simply their policy on expired vouchers and even had an automated message sound to it. So I rewrote the email with hard numbers on miles and finally they issued me a Groupon credit as a "one time exception" but made it seem like I was trying to scam them.
Their Groupon guarantee states if I have an issue redeeming a voucher they'll either make it right or give me my money back but both times I've had to fight like hell and it's not "as simple as that". Not to mention this last time I didn't get my money back, they still have my money to only spend with their company.
Working in customer service for 10+ years I guess I've come to expect more compassion for the consumer who they'd like to keep especially since they aren't the only Group buy company out there anymore. After I use my credit I'm never using them again.

Groupon is a hit or a miss. They have good deals only for restaurants.
If you have an issue with something or it didnt work out, they have really bad customer service! They take for ever to respond to your emails and never resolve the issues.

DONT BUY THERE DEALS WITH OTHER ONLINE COMPANIES! - they never work. There codes dont work and then groupon wont refund you. There goes ur money down the drain.

Groupon does not willing to offer refund on their misleading deal. Obvious "Hotel Collection" is a brand name, and the Andiamo is not equal to "Hotel Collection". I cannot believe they still want to argue that.

Here is the respond I got from Groupon:
I am sorry for the confusion. To clarify, "Hotel Collection" is a marketing term for an upscale brand. Andiamo is the name of this business's Hotel Collection line and is the upscale brand featured in this company's Hotel Collection. Many companies offer an upscale Hotel Collection, and I apologize for the misunderstanding.

For the most part, Groupon is good at providing a variety of deals, and keeping them valid.

However, I have encountered several times where they mark my deal as redeemed when I haven't redeemed or gone to the business yet. Groupon has a problem of issuing duplicate numbers, so 2 or more people may have the same voucher number.

So when 1 person goes to redeem their, everyone else's voucher that has the same number is marked as "redeemed". And when you try to fight with Groupon about it, they just say it's marked as redeemed.

My credit card company refunds me about 90% of the time when this happens. Lesson: Groupon needs better record keeping.

I purchased Pure Collagen Instant Face-Lift Serum on 3/6/2012. I still have not received the order. I have contacted their customer service multiple times and my purchase did not get mailed out until a little over a week ago. I was provided with a USPS tracking number that does not work and all I got from Groupon customer service was "call USPS and see where your package is". My package is MONTH and A HALF late.

Groupon operates its business differently from its website concerning gaurantee customer satisfaction and no hassle refund. If you are unable to use the coupon for any reasons (bad experience, restaurant does not honor coupon, etc...) and ask for a refund, you will get a CAN response of:
"We do not issue refunds unless there is an unresolvable problem, or if you had a bad experience using your Groupon. All requests are evaluated on a case by case basis." Groupon collects your money up front and WILL NOT refund

I had posted in the past about an issue with Ideeli. Guess what, I have a similar problem, AGAIN! I ordered a suitcase, did not arrive for 4 months, contacted customer service to find out what's going on. They said they were out of stock, couldn't tell me that for 4 months, could they? The usual, we will credit your account with $10 bullcrap. I check the website later and find out the bag is in stock again, so I contacted the customer service again. This time they forward me a link to the bag and ask me to reorder it, but the price is almost double the one that I originally ordered at. Nice way to rip off the customer.

Previous review:[I ordered a pair of shoes, the order got cancelled saying that there was an issue with credit card whereas my credit card has been working fine with every other transaction I have made. Then there was this second time when they said there was an inventory problem and the order for a dress got cancelled. I contacted the customer service and the guy was rude. Initially I was a bit heated up and did not engage in common courtesy but I was t quick to apologize. That did not help. Then he went ahead and the wisecrack that he was, he told me how he would just go out and buy a dress if he were me, like I did not think of that.]

I cannot place ALL the blame for Groupon because of this but I will see how much more I will go into my frustration if they don't provide my refund. I bought my first Groupon today and it was for "A&W Massage". I tried to call and schedule an appointment. They did not answer their phone ALL DAY! When they did it was 2pm. It was supposed to close at 5pm but they told me they were closing early and basically... "oh well!" I'm pissed! Did you really forget your deal was posted for today! Who does that? They really missed out on a potential customer because of that.

Bought some Groupons recently and was surprised when I went to check out the business. The area was definitely NOT what was expected. I contacted Groupon customer support and was told that they spoke directly with the business, and that the business "guaranteed" that all was okay and as stated in the Groupons. When I called the business myself, I was told that they could not guarantee anything, because it all depends on availability when I book. So I emailed Groupon customer support agai, and was basically told to F#*! Off, you can choose to either use the Groupon or give them away. Awful customer service, no resolution to problems! Incredibly disappointed with overall experience.

I love the website - but two items I have ordered and PAID FOR have not arrived, weeks after the order was placed and follow up enquiries to Groupon. What is it with the service side of things with this site? Surely an email advising of slow dispatch would help allay fears that they had "taken the money and run"? I am going to unsubscribe as I have had enough!

I love groupon deals. I am always seaching for a great deal, and even though there is some fine print to each deal, it ALWAYS saves you money. As long as you CAN READ, then this site is GREAT. I hate when people complain about the groupon stipulations after they have already purchased a deal from them. They list everything clearly and they are not trying to scam anyone. PLEASE USE THIS SITE, if you want a good deal. Some of their deals and emails are repeatitive, but honestly they want you to save money and they want to make money. Enough said. Read BEFORE you buy! DUH!

Just got my first order in the mail. Everything was there and it came right on time, as they said. Plus I had been tracking the packages constantly due to the poor reviews. It took a month to get here, which I knew would happen at the time of purchase, but that's still a while for a bowl and some utensils. And $9.95 for shipping each time definitely keeps me from buying more.
However, I absolutely love my items! They're exactly as the website described, and very unique.
I just ordered a pair of shoes as well, which were wonderfully discounted. It's already being shipped, according to the website, but this tracking number cannot be found. I'll wait a couple days and see if the item ends up at my door. Hopefully.

Groupon is horrible

Groupon is horrible. I have had a terrible experience purchasing both getaways and services. It is total bait and switch all the way... hotels aren't available, deal is only good for new customers, etc. If merchants want to offer deals, they should be straight forward so you know what you are getting... waisted more time trying to resolve and get credits than the savings is worth.

Purchased a curling iron on 3/22. Groupon site says, "Ships out in 7-14 business days from purchase date." Even allowing for holidays that should be 4/12 at the latest. Well today is 4/10 and I still can't get tracking info from groupon, they've not responded (other than automated "we got your email" emails) to my inquiries, and I called customer service today just to see if I could find out where my purchase was. I was told that it probably wouldn't arrive until next week and that they were going to give me a $5 credit for my inconvenience. Yeah, I don't think they'll have to worry about me using it.

Do not buy anything via Groupon where you would NOT be happy with JUST your money back. If you are a Business HEED this WARNING or you could become a ZAZZLE.COM

At ZAZZLE, you can build things like CUSTOM Christmas ornaments by uploading photos, editing them, adding text, etc.

Zazzle gave GROUPON authorization codes to include in our GROUPONS. I paid $70 for $150 worth of ornaments... my family loves Christmas.

Zazzle gave GROUPON March 13,2012 expiration dates. Some gnome at GROUPON entered the date as March 21,2012. So we are there building our ornaments... spent hours and hours... only to find out we could NOT checkout because GROUPON put the wrong EXPIRATION date into the GROUPON COMPUTER.

GROUPON refunded by $70 and told me to go take a hike on the $80... leaving me still wanting my ornaments and $80 short because of a VERIFIABLE GROUPON ERROR.

This probably happens more than we know. Had I bought discount car washes, hadn't used them, and got a refund - that would have been fine.

ZAZZLE has had to deal with unhappy customers... and they did not get properly paid. GROUPON has ZERO understanding of customer service.

PLS save yourself the headache - never buy a GROUPON where you do WORK before you cash it in... it could cost you $80 on TOP of the $70 you paid - to recould your lost time.

It is not clear on the groupon site what services are provided by the company. I bought a groupon thinking I would detail my car with a $250 coupon that I bought on groupon. However when I presented Speedy collision with my coupon they indicated that they did not fix minor scatches and scrapes, only significant damage requiring more work than I was willing to pay for. Now I spent $50 for a coupon that I have no use for. I plan to cancel my account. It is a waste of money.

Since I joined ideeli, I have purchased wwell over $1000 worth of merchandise and I have rarely been disappointed with what I received. I made the mistake of ordering a bathing and didn't pay close enough attention to the non-refundable line. I cannot even get it over my head it is so tiny. It is so small even if I lost 10-15 pounds it wouldn't fit! I asked them to make an exception just this once and they wouldn't budge. So I am returning everything else that was on the order and I am discontinuing my membership with ideeli!
