I really like buying through groupon. Stopped using it recently as the deals don't seem to be quite as good as they were. Still great though and recommended.
So i have used groupon for a few months and i have recieved three deals.
The first one was for yoga which was fine being as it wasn't a good so i recieved the groupon and was able to use it.
But for my other two purchases it was a hassle. First i purchased a set of earbuds. I was told the shipping would be 10-14 days with a $3 shipping fee which wasn't bad in my opinion. Except i did not receive the earbuds until a full 30 days later. Not to mention there was no tracking on them so i had no idea if i was going to even get them. I was glad i got them. But i went out and bought another pair. I sent an email regarding this and received no reply.
I figured this was just a simple mistake and gave them the benefit of the doubt and made another purchase. I bought an NFL ipod dock. It gave me a choice of teams and i picked the Buffalo Bills. Well i had to wait a month yet again and they sent me the wrong nfl team. I called to see if i could ship it back and get the team i ordered and they said they didnt have it. So what they did do is tell me to ship it back and within 30 days of them receiving it i would get my refund.
This has been the worst buying experience i have had with any online company. I have to wait thirty days to get my money which i spent one month ago because of a problem they made. So thats sixty days and im sure they aren't going to give me interest for having my money that long. I will never use groupon again. All the could do was say sorry for wasting my time and money. Thank you groupon for your terrible business.
I ordered a necklace from ideeli on 9/18/12. Received the item on 9/21/12 broken in half. Completely damaged. I contacted ideeli via *******@ideeli.com on 9/21/12 providing details regarding the damaged necklace. Ideeli sends an auto response stating the following: "Your question has been received. At ideeli, we pledge to respond to your issue or question within 24 hours. We’re proud that our typical customer service response time is under 4 business hours, so you can expect to hear from us within the same day." Ideeli claims they have business hours M-F and Sat. To date,(9/24/2012) I have not received a response. This company has very poor customer service. I will wait one more day for a response. If no response is received, I will have to take further action.
I purchased several items, including everything for my wife on our anniversary and other weekend entertainment (spas, dinner, after diner entertainment, home services, etc.). After spending over $400 for items, we tried to use the merchandise and services purchased. My account was deleted by Groupon, they did not have any record of my purchases, and refused to research or provide refunds. Even a partial refund could have been ok. On one occasion, we went to use our "tickets" for an outdoor activity and discovered that the company did not have any records of our purchase. We did try to use our items several times before the expiration date without success. We called customer service several times and on each call Groupon stated that we did not have an account even after we provided all information, including credit card receipts and confirmation from Groupon. Groupon insisted that we NEVER used their services, regardless of the confirmation emails received from Groupon. Groupon only stated that we did not have an account and if we did purchase, we did not use by the expiration date. They are making money by stealing from their customers.
Good but there isn't a page after purchasing: it's no possible to change the address of the shipment and follow it with tracking number.
My problem with Groupon is that they manipulate the list pricing to exaggerate your supposed saving to make the deal look better than it really is. Take one of their latest listings for a refurbished 10'' Motorola HD Xoom Tablet with a list price as $600. Unfortunately for any potential buyer, the actual list price for a NEW 10'' Motorola HD Xoom Tablet, on Motorola's site, is $499 for a NEW tablet. The list price for a refurbished tablet, on Motorola's site, is only $279! So THE ACTUAL SAVINGS is only $20. I sent an Email to them exposing this and they replied with this,
"Sorry for any confusion. It is never our intention to mislead anyone about the value of a Groupon.
The value and discount percentage listed on each deal reflect the regular full price for that product or service. If the business offers other temporary discounts or decides to change their standard pricing after their deal is featured, the relative savings and value might change.
Unfortunately, we cannot foresee or control these changes. That said, we work very hard to make sure that the deals we feature are the best in town."
I responded to their response to point out again that the problem is that the list price posted isn't for the same refurbished product that they are offering a discount for, it's for a new product; but they don't seem to have a problem with that.
I am very suspicious of such deep discounts. Today I got a deal of $350-worth of yoga classes for $20... seriously? This can't be real. If the business in question honours the deal, I would just feel bad taking advantage of them like that. And if not, then it's just a scam. Why not run a more sensible, socially responsible version of Groupon... say, 25-40% discounts that encourage new customers to discover a business.
A second point - you have to be very careful with the deals. A few days ago I almost bought a Groupon admission for a rock concert - $35 for tickets worth "up to $80". The catch? The tickets are for a section seating where prices range from $25-80, so you could actually be paying $35 for $25 tickets, and for all that, have a "Groupon" instead of a proper ticket, and zero ability to select your seats. I won't be buying tickets from Groupon again.
For some reason my purchases don't go through all the time. It's strange. I contacted customer services, and they issued a $20 credit to my account for my trouble. Nice response, Groupon.
I'd do this again for small purchases.
I have had a really bad experience with LivingSocial (scammed out of nearly $200 by a fraudulent retailer- they have been no help and rude)- which might cloud my judgment in thinking Groupon is fantastic. But I really do think they handled an error in a professional way.
Good job, Groupon, hence my rating of "okay."
My experience with Groupon Goods has been absolutely awful! I put in 3 separate orders for items. They then say it takes up to 2.5 weeks for items to be delivered, which is absurd when compared to most online retailers. It took a week for items to be shipped. They use UPS-MI, which is a collaboration between UPS and USPS, so your package is actually going through USPS. It takes 3 days for UPS-MI to even update their website with any tracking information, and then they still don't update it regularly.
I had to contact Groupon Goods about separate issues with 2 of my 3 orders. On one, I received what appeared to be an invalid tracking number; they said it was for use with DHL, but it used too many digits. The representatives did not read my email and sent me a canned response. I emailed a second time, and again he did not answer the correct question (also sending a canned response). I called about this, and the representative was able to tell me it was not DHL that had been used but rather UPS-MI. I thought this was ridiculous that they gave me the wrong shipper. On my second order, the shipping confirmation did not even tell me the carrier; I had to call about this as well.
I finally received my first order today. Apparently, they have mixed up the tracking numbers as well, since the item I was expecting today (according to the shipping confirmation tracking) was not the item I received. It also was not quite the item I had ordered; the color was wrong.
I have seen too many issues with this company, and this is only my first time ordering with them. I will never be ordering from Groupon Goods again, and I advise others not to as well.
Groupon Getaways is a big scam. Plz beware.
Once u see a deal, do little bit of homework go to the company website and see what teh rates are, u are going to save or equal to the price, when groupon says its gooing to be 30-50% off, it isnt actually no more then 5%. Which comes with any normal website.
I have complained to groupon with all the printscreen and website details, not once, twice or thrice but 10 times now and i think they dont really care
Now i get why the company is dying slowly... BEWARE
I have been a ideeli.com customer for two years now and I have had nothing but good experiences with the website. I needed to return three non-returnable items and the customer representative rep replied the next day with a return shipping label.
I love their prices and their selection of items.
I have gotten a number of deals on groupon and my experience has always been terrible. Restaurants refused to accept my voucher! Discount codes never worked! In two occasions I never recieved my items (a cup cake making kit and some pillows) and the hair salons and dentists always make you pay extra when done with a treatment. Stay away from Groupon! On top of all this their customer service is simply non-existant
I recently purchased a Mangrate Cast-Iron Grill Grate Enhancer fro Groupon Goods. The ad showed several meat items in the picture and overall this looked like a good buy. However, the item was not as pictured in the Groupon Goods advertisement and will barely hold one reasonable sized steak. Since it was not as advertised, I contacted Groupon to return it. They said I could for a refund but since it was not "defective" I would have to pay shipping (1/2 the cost of the item).
Groupons ad was deceptive and misleading and should have paid for return shipment. Since they will not, I will keep it and use it as a door stop and as a reminder to never buy from groupon again
Wished I would have looked at this site before I purchased from Ideeli. The worst customer service I have ever experienced... I am 60! I purchased a jacket which I had confirmation for, but then they removed me from their mailing list so I could not track the purchase. When they finally responded to my e-mail, approximately 1 week from purchase, they said that they thought it was a fraudulent order and closed my account. I think this is a way for them to save face, not that they know what that is, to not sent an item they never had in the first place. Do they outsource all their e-mails and that is why there is a delay in response? DO NOT SHOP ON THIS SITE!
My husband and I have purchased several groupons, and have never had a single problem! We love groupon as it allows us to experience activities and restaurants in our community that we normally wouldn't even consider. Very happy with their service and deals!
From a user perspective, I love Groupon. I've bought several items from Groupon Goods and have liked all of them. The only exception was an item that was defective, and Groupon took care of it quickly and hassle free for me. I have scored some epic deals from Groupon, including those for services, food, etc. I had purchased one for hair salon services and in doing so found my new regular hairdresser, which I imagine is the whole idea behind the Groupons in the first place.
I have been hooked up to this website since day one. Now several years later I can honestly say it is a complete and utter rip off and a waste of time. If any consumer does their homework you will find that most of the deals they offer are no deals at all. You don't save money at all. By the time you jump through all the stupid conditions to using a groupon or figuring out too late there is an upgrade or some other stupid "CATCH" you just give up on using it. I have not purchased a thing in over 1.5 years but still look at their "DEALS" to laugh.
Here is an example... I just got an email about a nice hotel stay in the country, one nite for $79.00. The catch? You can only stay Sunday to Thursday. No other amenities offered. Where is the deal? This would be a deal if it were a weekend but nobody wants to go to the middle of nowhere during the week! Hotels can't give these rooms away for free! The funny thing is I have been to the town where this deal is offered. THE ENTIRE TOWN is closed Monday and Tuesday and most stores on Wednesday too. Seriously! You would be staying in a ghost town.
Consumers, do your homework before you decide to buy. Figure out what you are really getting because very few businesses can stay in business if they were offering too good to be true deals.
Having bought a travel voucher for accommodation in Bali, when I tried to redeem it with 3months notice, there was no availability within this time. On ringing groupon I was told that in the fine print they could not gaurantee availability and there was no refund. I have taken the matter to ACC and department of commerce which I would urge anyone with bad experiences to do. I am currently out of pocket $2285! I also discovered with another voucher that 3 items had been ordered yet I had only booked 2... Again I was informed too bad so sad!
If you don't return stuff which may be broken in the box - within 14 days - you are told to pound sand. No warranty - nothing. (FINE PRINT).
Sorry - but sometimes I don't get to using stuff the MINUTE I GET IT.
Aweful customer service. Shop elsewhere.
Groupon Goods is an absolutely terrible service. I purchased a mattress pad claiming to be memory foam, the ad for which included a photo of a memory foam mattress pad. What I received was not memory foam. It was just a thick foam mattress pad. I paid over $100 for memory foam and got run of the mill foam. I contacted Groupon and they gave me a $15 credit. I told them this did not address the false advertising, so they suggested I return the item. This still did not address the false advertising. Now they say they will "forward" the complaint to the Goods team.
Also, I decided to give Goods another shot and purchased a back car seat cover for dogs. I opened the package and the seat cover has numerous small holes, dirt spots, and dirt smudges. I sent them another complaint and a request to return the item.
If it seems to good to be true, it definitely is with Groupon Goods. Avoid them at all cost! Their products are untrustworthy, cheap, and falsely advertised. Save yourself a world of pain and go somewhere else. I've bought better quality products at the dollar store! And that is not an exaggeration.
Answer: Yes, Groupon is legit. You need to read the fine print before ordering live event tickets- -they will not refund your money even if it's there fault. I only buy tickets for activities that don't expire or you can use the purchase price towards a non-Groupon service the vendor offers. Hope this helps.
Answer: Yes, report it but using social media is a very effective way to get a companies attention. Spread the word, Groupon does not honor returns!
Answer: I usually call the merchants I am interested in before buying the coupons, and ask them if the groupon coupons work, and how much more I have to pay. You could do the same, contact the merchants you are interested in and ask them how groupon works for them?
Answer: Groupon usually sends a tracking # via email If not do as the other people suggested, check My Groupons
Answer: I wish I could say why, but a solution might be to contact Call Curtis, or your local News station that helps with consumer issues. They always seem to get fast resolutions, because companies hate BAD TV PUBLICITY.
Answer: I personally do not trust groupon. The question previous to yours printed on this site should answer your question as to its reliaiblity
Answer: The one I took by Holly and Hugo at least were I would research the company before buying. Also about twice a year they put all their courses for $5! I got mine completed it and it helped boost my resume and I was able to get a vet assistant job pretty quickly compared to before where I only got a call back from about one place which didn't lead anywhere. :) hope I could help!
Answer: Well, it's not Ideeli anymore... it's been Ideel for about a year now I think. Yes, there is a customer support phone number. I've had nothing but good experiences from Ideel in all regards - product satisfaction, price, shipping, etc. - but I've never had to contact customer service so I don't know what you'll get, but they're phone number is (888) 835-1719.
Answer: They are the absolute worst about answering customer service complaints. They will lie, they literally told me customer service reps were out sick, thus no answer to my emails for about 2 weeks. But, don't loose hope, the DAY I posted a review on this site, they answered AND gave me a 25.00 credit for my trouble. So write a review on Site Jabber with all the details and a bet a manager will answer promptly. As this is their way, I NEVER ordered from the site again after at least 3 years of orders. Good Luck and don't leave a sordid detail out of your complaint.
Groupon is the largest "daily deal" site, selling vouchers for discounted local experiences and services such as restaurants and spas, as well as travel packages, shopping, and a number of other items. Vouchers are purchased upfront and typically must be redeemed by a certain date, after which time Groupons expire. To businesses Groupon markets itself as a way to drive new customers. Groupon is a public company (NASDAQ: GRPN) and is based in Chicago, IL.
Hi Charmaine,
Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts on SiteJabber. We truly apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced with your order.
In regards to your jacket, we currently have a policy in place that when items are unavailable, an apology email is sent and a discount voucher is applied to the customer's account for the inconvenience. With fraud, customers are notified of any fraudulent activity by phone, which is why we ask for a phone number at checkout, just in case anything happens after an order is placed.
Again, we're so sorry about your experience. If you have any additional questions or need further clarification, please don't hesitate to let me know. I would be happy to assist.
Best,
Jason Faria
