Most unfaithful rental company ever! They checked my car and said that everything is ok. I left the country and received a bill of over Euro 1000 for scratches that they found after I left! This is rediculous as I didn't drive much and car was parked on private parking. They also claim that I drove more than 3000km in Latvia. The country is too small for such amount of km and considering me staying in one hotel every day, it's highly impossible. Alltogether this company is fooling it's customers! NEVER EVER AGAIN I SHALL RENT A CAR WITH THEM!
I rented a car from Green Motion via the website trip.com, to be picked up at London City Airport and drive it to Cambridge. I needed only to get to Cambridge; I left it there in a secured parking lot and drove it back to the rental location. So, I was driving it only on the highway and I am sure there was no occasion for any damage.
When I arrived at the location to pick up the car, there was already a furious customer complaining that he was being charged for a scratch which he claimed he didn't cause. Apparently it was a small scratch but he was being charged more than 250 pounds. I was a little alarmed. But, when they showed me the car I was getting, which was a new Toyota Yaris without any damage, I felt relieved. However, when I returned the car, the guy who checked it told me there is a damage. I thought it must be a misunderstanding. But, no; he showed me this minuscule marking on the edge of the wheel rim (less than one cm long and hardly visible; I have taken a photo). I am absolutely sure the marking must have been there and I didn't notice it at the time of pickup because it was simply not visible. He told me I had to pay 135 pounds for the damage. I wonder how many customers before me have paid for the same damage! I was still there when another customer arrived and he was told that an inflator was missing from the trunk. He was extremely angry as he said that he had not even opened the trunk; so, it would have been impossible for anything to get lost from there.
Apparently, these guys offer low prices and then use this dirty trick to earn much more money than the rental fee, using damage insurance clause. It is easy money to earn as the scratches and damages are simply never repaired. I am a university professor and have been travelling all over the world since 1986 and have rented cars in places as far as Thailand, New Zealand, Chili, etc. etc. I have never had an accident or damage to a rented car. I am absolutely sure I didn't damage this time either.

According to Green Motions Terms and Conditions, the credit card must be in the name of the lead driver. If the lead driver doesnt have a credit card in their name, then the secondary driver must be present in order to present theirs. When my boyfriend picked up the car, I was not present and I never signed a single paper or electronic document with Green Motion. I honestly dont even know how I was put on as a secondary driver considering I was in another state (with my credit card on my person) at the time of the booking. Now, Green Motion is trying to claim two tolls werent paid and are charging me $150. I called them immediately and told them to removed the charges. They refused, they refused to let me speak to a manager, and they refused to even so much as leave a message for a manager. I immediately reported them for fraud to my bank and got my credit card number changed. I emailed their customer service and basically got told to pound sand. I told them to fix the problem immediately or I would be sure to report them to every site I could. They neglected to fix the problem immediately so now I am trying other sources to fix my problem.
Also, this was not the only issue with Green Motion. The car the attendant gave my boyfriend had a panel that was falling off the front, scratches all over the car, the check engine light was on, the windshield wipers didnt work properly, the gas tank was empty, the alignment was horrendous, and it wasnt even the car my boyfriend were supposed to have received. This place is an absolute scam and has exceedingly corrupt business practices. I believe they should drop all of the supposed charges for the tolls. I also believe my boyfriend should be fully refunded for the money he spent renting the car, unless its in their terms and conditions that they are supposed to give customers unsafe cars that has recently been in an accident/collision. My boyfriend had no choice but to take the car considering they told him it was the last car they had to give out and it was very early in the morning. This experience has been abhorrent. This place WILL scam people.
I rented a car from Green Motion Manchester on 28th Feb. When I went to pick up the car it was covered in Snow and Ice. The attendant apologised that they had been unable to clean the car because of the weather. They gave me a form noting that the car had scratches on one side and damage to a wheel. When I returned the car they found a small scratch on the lower rear of the car (this area was covered in Snow when I took the car) When I protested that I had not caused any damage they then said that they would let me off with the wheel damage (which was previously noted) but, I Had to pay GBP 300 for the scratch to the rear. After a few words, they came back and said that they had checked the previous 5 rentals and the scratch was not there. But, they had not checked nor cleaned the car when I took it.
When I argued this the manager asked me, why I did not clear all the snow off it to check!
I was also charged for a full tank of Petrol when the tank only contained 2/3 of a tank. I accept that I could have returned and told them about that, but, after a 4 hr flight delay, I could not be bothered. I am just mentioning that as another of the shady practices this company employ.

AVOID THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS.
They offer you crazy cheap prices and make the money on finding damage to the car that already existed.
I was charged £600 for a new windscreen because there was a stone chip in the corner of the screen that must have been there before I took the car.
1. A stone hitting the window is not something you'd miss.
2. A chip smaller than a 5 pence piece can be repaired for £60.
Don't just take my word for it, there was recently a documentary about the very company on Channel 4. Search "Super Shoppers Series 4 Episode 4" and you'll see examples of how they scour the car to find damage, even to the extent of laying under the car with torches to find a scratch they can charge you for. In some cases they have charged £2500 for scrapes and marks that were already there.

Do not use this company. After about 2 months I noticed a charge of 150+ Dollars on my credit card from Green Motion.
I called them directly and asked for the manager. When he got on the phone he rudely told me that the reason why he charged my credit card was because I had a traffic ticket while in Prague. He said he will email it to me ASAP. Why wasn't I notified before they decide to charge my card? It's a scam! They never email me a traffic ticket as he promised nor did I ever hear from them again.
I disputed the charges with my credit card provider. BE AWARE!
Do not rent with them! Dont trust them.! Triple check your car and take A LOT of pictures.
They played friendly then when you bring the car back they found 1 scratch and charged you 1000£.
Never hire from GREENMOTION car hire. We had a car on hire from Glasgow airport. I wanted to extend the hire by one day, I was quoted 100 pound over the phone for one day. The ordinal hire was for 8 days for a total of 71 pounds for the 8 days, I said yeah to the excessive amount as it was easy to contiine the hire, however they took 200 pounds from my account and when I asked them to return the money to my car they total me this what was quoted over the phone! I can assure you this was not the amount quoted!
They also took another 450 0pound on the return of the car for scrapped alloys, we never scratched them.

Rented a car in milano central station, had a nice conversation with the 2 ladies at the desk.it was very cheap and i took photos, cause it was full of scratches, which were not mentioned. They upgrated the description. 3 days later i took the car back, and they told me that everything was fine. I was anxious cause they kept a 1500 euros deposit from my credit car.One month later i called them to ask why the deposit wasn' t refunded yet. They told me they had a problem'they would do it in few days.So it was.one week later they withdrew 72 euros from my credit card. I called them and they told me there was a scar in the car. I told them it was not possible. I could prove it with the photos i had. Then they told me that the damage was in the interior of the car?. I should call again to get to a supervisor... next day the damage was under the car... i gave up... beware of these bandits
We just hired and returned car in London - I and many others we witnessed have experienced such poor service AND WORSE total rip-off when return car. They tried to charge me GBP 2,000+ excess (when rental cost only GBP 300) for so called stone damage which I strongly disagree with. It was impossible to see and needed to look thru radiator grill to see it! We had no issues with car, so really doubt their claims... However they already have your credit card and no choice but so sign car rental return form. It no surprise they are low-cost since they make their Profit thru charging customers on the return
Worst experience at Greenmotion Birmingham International Airport. When the car was returned the guy told us we would get the 30GBP back we had paid as a guarantee in 4 or 5 days. Two weeks later, and after an exchange of more than 15 emails, they not only make different excuses to avoid refunding the money but even state that they can't find our booking.
The car stopped working after just a few km. They didn't want to help s at first but did after many phone calls and hours waiting. We don't get any compensation for this at al. STAY AWAY FROM GREEN MOTION.
I have rented many cars in my lifetime, never had an accident, never had to file a claim for damages - until I rented from Greenmotion.
In March 2017, I rented a Fiat Panda at the airport Rejkavik, Iceland for 3 days.
It was around 6AM in the morning when I picked up the rental, still dark out.
The staff there did an inspection in the dimly lit outdoors and documented all was fine with the car. On the highway to my hotel, I noticed a tiny crack speck on the windshield that was apparently missed by their staff during the inspection.
Really- it was small/tiny crack and I didn't think much of it.
I drove the rental for 140KM (87 miles) for the 3 days.
When I returned it, they found 2 of the tiny cracks on the windshield and an expire front driver side parking light.
They went and charged my credit card for the "damages" a total $892 US dollars (after conversion). I was angry.
Almost $900 for two tiny "cracks" that had existed before I had the rental and an expire bulb, ridiculous! There were no other issues with the rental.
Never again!

We have had a very bad experience with Green Motion. We booked a rental car from Bologna airport. Our flight time was changed by Easyjet and, as a result, we arrived in the early afternoon (rather than original booking for the morning). When we arrived, we were told that the company had cancelled our booking and that the car had been rented out to someone else. In addition - the refused to refund the full rental fee that we had been pre-paid in advance. This left us sitting in Bologna airport with distressed young children at the start of our holiday without a vehicle and we ended up paying double to hire a different car on the spot. We sought to get help through the Green Motion customer service team, but they have refused to engage with us and have simply quoted their terms and conditions. I am extremely angry with their approach to this incident and their unwillingness to refund our pre-payment despite the fact that we were only a number of hours delayed and they suffered no loss by immediately renting the car out to someone else (at a higher price). The terms and conditions they quote were also not highlighted at the time of booking and are hidden away at the bottom of terms on their website. It almost feels as though they have designed their cancellation policy and the way it is available to customers as a way to catch them out. I will never use again and I would recommend avoiding them at all cost.
Booked via economycarrentals unfortunately got Green Motion. They are forcing you to buy tool road device which is not at all necessary if you do not intent to use tool roads - which was my case. The girl (Hispanic) was rude and when she saw i am not going to pay the extra tried to make me pay penalty for arriving before time.
At this stage i told her i am not interested in their service and left. The guy before me paid 129$ extra for a device that costs nothing. I lived 3 years in florida and my monthly tool never exceeded 10 $. Green Motion is a rip off. Stay away.

Answer: I have used them many times, always cheapest, always very new cars, always charming and helpful staff ( Stansted Airport). Every firm will try to get you to upgrade. Buy a 3rd party policy, and just say you have your own cover. Up to now I have never been scammed. I ALWAYS inspect the vehicle before. I drive off. I take photos and make sure I get it inspected and signed off by staff when I take it back.
Answer: Speeding/parking tickets and police action are slow. They keep the deposit until they are sure there will be no problems with any of those costs. (and yeah, would be speeding fine + massive green motion fee).

I can confirm that security deposits are automatically released by Green Motion on the last day of your rental after it has been established that the rental vehicle has been returned in the same condition as it was provided, and there are no further outstanding charges. Whilst in most cases this is available again within 10 working days, unfortunately, this can take up to 30 days depending on the bank that you use. We suggest that you contact your bank as they may be able to speed this process up for you. Green Motion's policy is to use pre-authorised transactions for our security deposits, which ring-fence the amount within your account, not charge it. This pre-authorised transaction will allow us to make charges if necessary at the end of the rental, but unless this occurs no money will leave your account. Due to the nature of this transaction, the release of these funds may not show on your bank statement as a separate transaction. If you believe that you have been charged your security deposit, please contact your bank and ask them to provide proof of the transaction as a charge on the first day of your rental so that we can look further into this for you. Answer: I believe Green Motion are a perfectly fair and respectful company. I suspect you didn't read their Ts&Cs properly. The two customers being served while I was collecting my car had also not read/understood the conditions and were caught by surprise. The representative dealt with them firmly but fairly.
