Edit #2: the rest of my refund has finally successfully posted to my account. Updated from 1 to 2 stars. Although I am glad I was able to finally get a full refund, Getaroom's deceptive policies combined with the inability access any customer service (without posting reviews on complaint sites), I will not be using them ever again in the future.______________
Edited to add a response to GETAROOM'S multiple requests for me to update my review: I only see a PARTIAL refund processed - I would be happy to revise once I receive the entire refund amount IN FULL (as promised) to ensure it was done properly. Thank you.______________
Didn't realize I wasn't booking through hotel directly, was informed by the hotel that I got overcharged by $125.35. Planning on doing a CC chargeback if I can't get a refund or adjustment. This company's deceptive marketing is appalling. STAY FAR AWAY

Had a boiler break. No heat hot water in 10 degree weather. Called to get hotel room. Thought i was calling hotel direct. This phone number comes up call they book room for 3 nights. Only needed the room for 2 nights. Hotel was more then happy to accommodate me. But then was told I went through 3 rd party. They would have to credit me. Here comes the problem impossible to get anyone on phone the run you around from department to department constantly on hold for long times.in the long run could never get anyone to respond to email or phone. This company is a complete scam.be aware you don't need them. Call hotels direct. We will be looking into this company more! Run form them

I used my travel booking company to book a room, they booked my room via GetaRoom - I booked a room with a whirlpool tub, it was my entire purpose of booking the room. I had surgery a couple weeks prior and did not know if we would be able to go out for Valentines, so I was excited to find a room that we could chill and enjoy ourselves in. When we checked in, we had a different room and I am going on almost an hour on the phone trying to get it resolved, They told me I can eat the price difference or cancel. Yeah, those are great options, not even an offer of a credit, just a we do not care about you, so get off the phone and here let me put you on hold now, after 30 mins of being stuck on our automated call system stuck in loop. Worst Customer Service & Horrible Advertising, thanks for going to your extreme to ensure my first weekend out was a complete fail. I will be telling my company on Monday to never use you guys again and I highly recommend others do not as well.

Booked 2 rooms, fees ended up costing us $132 more for each room. Always check with the facility and book direct. Lesson learned.
Everything is right there in front of you; no need to guess about hotel room details, prices, etc. Clear interface that is simple to use.

Today I called TRU hotel phone number and thought I got the front desk to book me a reservation with my credit card for two rooms but instead I found out it was a third party company called getaroom. To make a long story short after I found out I was being lied to I tried to cancel and she said it was non refundable. She basically took my money. I arrived to the hotel to find that the room was paid by a third party company. I looked for my reservation in my emails and found getaroom had my reservation. The representative told me that there were covid-19 fees which took the rate up $70 each room. The hotel had no knowledge of these fees. This is unacceptable to be lied to and deceived while on vacation. (Update) I was contacted and taken care of. Thanks for your prompt response and help.

Answer: They are not ethical. For me, they used a website that appeared to be the actual hotel website, did not identify themselves when they should have, and did not mention booking fees while they charged a 30 percent booking fee for a room that was its normal price. They were supposed to cancel charges on my credit card and did not. STAY AWAY!
Answer: They are a site attached to Trip Advisor---- if you see them on screen while trying to book a room-- hit cancel. I'm out over $150 because of their fraudulent cancellation policy.
Answer: Thought I was booking on the actual hotel sight but was deceived in as much as it was Getaroom. Talked to someone else also staying at this hotel at the same for about a third less. Called them right back and had already charged my card and it would be up to 3 weeks to refund. That's about what it took but did get refund. Then checked reviews and no one had anything good to say about getaroom. Go straight to hotel sight of one you know and trust or stick with something like Travelocity.
Answer: I'm definitely in. There's something very deceptive, if not illegal, when you start off on a hotel's website and when you click Make a Reservation, it somehow transfers you to the GetARoom site without your knowledge. I had no idea this was done until I received their email confirmation. I'm thinking of contacting my state's Consumer Protection Div. Of the AG's Office to file a complaint when I get back from vacation.

Answer: Wow. This is one bad company. Made a reservation and then needed to cancel. They gave cancel date all along. I called to cancel on that date and was told that date was only for 1 minute of date they told me. I was supposed to forfeit one night's cost. Luckily I made reservation on AMEX and they'll tell this fraud company to get lost. Moral of the story: make reservations through hotel.
