"15 minutes can save you..."

Sure, until you have an accident, then that stupid lizard takes back everything you saved plus 35%.

After 3 years of initially getting insurance with Geico, my wife had an accident (her first EVER). She stopped at the driveway of our apartment complex, saw no traffic, pulled out; then a county vehicle blew through a stop sign and tried to whip around her. Unfortunately, he took off the front of our vehicle in the process.

After sending NO ONE to look at the accident scene, after sending NO INVESTIGATOR; Geico claimed my wife was 100% at fault. I sent them photos and the police report where the officer amended it stating that my wife was NOT at fault and they reduced her liability to 50%. I asked them, "So, basically she's at fault for being on the road?" They said, "Yes."

Skip the lizard, go with the beagle (the beagle LOWERED our insurance rate AFTER this accident and did not even consider this accident as my wife was not at fault!). Get a pair of alligator boots if ye feel the need to get close to a reptile.

Geico is by far the worst insurance you could have. Above all, their customer service is atrocious. From email to email, different information is given out including threats to cancel my already paid for insurance... because someone messed up my autopay and then someone else messed up the paperwork in order to cover up Geico's lies. I recorded the calls and kept the emails. Each call and email, a new lie and 2 more hurdles each time. They want money for a vehicle that hasn't moved even though the insurance was canceled by me (I have 2 with 2 drivers)... they still intend to keep the stolen extra.

They are uncooperative and still haven't been able to figure out how to fix their autopay glitch. The glitch is their loophole to act as if you hadn't paid, in order to have you cover your own collision costs, if they are actually needed. Our relationship has only ever consisted of me giving them more money... raising my rates after perfect driving, to only give me the run around (claiming I'm insured).

Murphy's Law was written for clowns like Geico. They should be jailed

Less than 1 star ratings are absolutely necessary, yet 1 is the lowest possible here

Unfair acts
August 16, 2019

Geico set up my claim sent an adjuster out deemed my vehicle as total loss and sent documentation of incident only to back out and say sorry this isn't covered with your policy. They said it falls under mechanical and the supervisor said it falls under "negligence" and thats not something I have with my policy.

Backround of situation: I received an oil change that seemed to mess up everything in my car

I stated to them this is my first lease vehicle and I already have full coverage I didn't know I had to have an additional coverage for mechanical. Nicholaus stated thats something that was asked when I first added vehicle. And theres nothing he can do and its up to me with what I want to do with the car. Then switches me to customer service to see if I can hear the pre recorded conversation for them to only tell me it doesn't go that far back. I asked to speak to a supervisor for the unfairness of this whole process and the only thing he can offer me is an apology. It also took me a week! To speak to a supervisor. Life lesson I been with geico for about 6 years and this was the first and last sign I needed to see. Everyone gives you different information and they are not helpful only thing they know how to do is apologize for their mistakes. Now my car is listed as a total loss vehicle with noone to cover it. Whats the point of having insurance. I also called corporate and haven't heard back. They know how to promote and sell their insurance very good but if something was to actually happen be very careful what coverage you choose because they dont honor their commitment to the customer

Auto Insurance Claim
September 15, 2022

Geico is a horrible insurance company! I was recently in a car accident that was not my fault and I was provided with extremely poor service. No adjuster was assigned to my claim and no one contacted me to process the claim. The claim representatives are extremely unprofessional and unknowledgeable of how to answer questions regarding the insurance claim. They sent me to a bad repair collision center which damaged my vehicle and the Geico claims department never took the time to contact me to investigate & inquire about the damages. They denied any damages after one month by leaving a general voice message by a novice adjuster that I had never been in contact with. I have been a loyal customer of Geico Insurance Co since 2009 and I feel that in the last few years Geico company has done a total revamp of the company and it's a big disaster and a mess! The company does not acknowledge nor do they care about the customer who pays for auto insurance in order to receive protection when there is a collision or damages as a result of a MVA. Their staff stinks and they have no idea what insurance is if they feel they can boot "you out" and not explain anything to you! They have no understanding of the law, and ethical standards for processing a claim! I am horrified and appalled at how unruly, disrespectful and ugly their services are. They are by the way providing a service!

Who's at fault
March 23, 2023

I back out from parking space after I check traffic, no car behind me and visible area. Suddenly a cross traffic car run pass and hit my car. My car move out half way already and back out light on. She can see traffic and decide go or stop. I can decide visible area to go or stop.
Geico say its my fault- not check traffic clearly. I go out slowly already. I don't know how geico can see cross traffic outside visible area of backing out car. Geico say they have right of way. If both side can see, they have right of way. But back out car will go on if they can see cross traffic car.Everyone will observe traffic if car back out. Stop if not enough space. If you decide they have enough space, will go. Sometimes cross traffic "forget back out car cannot see them". If back out car go on backing, cross traffic car will drive faster to pass or turn to other side to avoid hitting. Thats what we drive.
If geico insist not see clearly. Geico can do an experiment, back out the car, see cross traffic car hit them. ( cross traffic car want hit back out car, and back out car thouht they hit the cross traffic car. 100 % we can do that if purpose.)
So I appeal the case to CA insurance claim review commission dept. They say post in public and let public judge.

Very disappointed
September 5, 2023

I went with out insurance for 2 weeks which in time I had not driven my car. I came across a decent quote from GEICO. And I took it. I had my policy start on August 20 the the day I got paid. I decided to go grocery shopping on August the 22 nf. It was later at night I then stopped at a car wash and detailed my vehicle end up some time between midnight and 1 am which made the date August 23rd. I was headed home whenA huge deer ran out Infront of me and hit my jeep. No cell phone service were I was at. And the deer dies. I was able to get my battery terminals attached back into my battery and try to limp it home were I could call. Three hours later I was able to get my jeep into my driveway. We're it is still sitting. I took photos of the scene and the later that morning in daylight. I filed a claim it's now been three weeks and one excuse after another. No adjuster has come to look at my jeep keeps asking for email photos time stamps. Past insurance proof. And still nothing. I can not drive my jeep the radiator is busted and there is no headlight and door won't open the whole way. Still nothing I have called and emailed. And still can't get anywhere. This is my only vehicle and they refuse to get me a rental. I have full coverage for everything but still not no response no actions. I am beyond upset why are any of us paying a huge bill each month to a company that does nothing. Might as well throw your paychecks out the window. Would give them negative one star if I would let me

He made the decission to lease the vehicle thinking he would be able to spend X amount of dollars on the insurance, and after he signed all the papers and took ownership of the vehicle, they call a day later to inform him that he is now stuck with a payment he can't afford!

No one to talk to, at Gieco - the worse customer service I have ever en$#*!ered... I cant belive this is legel!

Truck in front of me today lost part of their load now I have 5 holes in my windshield, I got the idiots plate number but the guy wouldn't stop I followed him for over 5 miles couldn't get him to stop so I filed a police report and called geico, and the rude lady on the phone said I don't have glass coverage, I said I am not the one that caused the damage she said she don't care, so I guess I'm going to load my truck up with rocks and leave the gate down since the insurance don't pay for that type of thing I can just go out tearing up other peoples windshields and its not my fault, I thought someone else causes damage to my vehicle and the other peoples insurance pays for that but not according to the lady I talked to from Geico, needless to say Im switching to another company before I drive my truck through the geico office I still don't think the idiot I was talking to on the phone knew I was trying to claim on the other peoples insurance and you would think she could do that with just a plate number... I mean I googled it and got the guys address type of truck and everything, I might just to go his house tonight make his windshield match mine

SCAMMERS!
September 1, 2023

IF you want to be scammed out of THOUSANDS of dollars, then I recommend using Geico. I have been a customer of Geico for 7 years and very happy with their car insurance, probably because I have NEVER needed to use it before now. I got into. Minor accident - photos attached and Geico found me at fault and somehow the damage to the car was $4000 worth of damage. Better yet - they don't notify me of this until 7 MONTHS after my accident, when they decide that my premium is going to go up $200. And even better - because I had been so happy with their services - I purchased on umbrella policy through them and at that time, due to changes require of my auto policy for the umbrella policy) ASKED the insurance broker if my insurance rate was going to go up for future payments AND WAS TOLD YES BY $6. IM SORRY. Unacceptable. Spent nearly 2 hours on the phone speaking with 5 different individuals and NO ONE could provide any assistance. And don't get me wrong - I understand having an accident leads to increase in insurance rates, but this minor accident does not warrant DOUBLING my insurance annually and NOT being informed about it, especially when I was speaking about cost of insurance wit an agent on 8/4/2023 RUN FAR AND FAST FROM THIS COMPANY!

I have had Geico for over 30 years. For the last 3 years my daughter has been on my policy on a VA DL and they haven't said a word and have insured her. In June of this year she gets into a car accident and her vehicle was totaled. We filed a claim with Geico because the guy who hit her after a week had not made a claim with his Insurance Company. My policy expired in May and is up for renewal in Nov. Now 3 weeks before its due for renewal I get a letter in the mail saying come Nov. 21st they are not going to renew my policy unless my daughter gets her NYS DL reinstated or she gets a policy of her own. I did not know her NYS DL was suspended. I told Geico I will take her off my policy because she is not going to get a Ins policy of her own since she does not have a vehicle and she does not have the money to get her NYS DL reinstated. They said sorry we can't take your word that she is not going to drive your vehicle so we can not renew your policy. I was told by one of their employees they new they weren't going to renew my policy in May when they found out her license was suspended but they wait until 4 weeks before my insurance is due to tell me they are not renewing it. Great way to treat their long term customers huh?

I work aboard vessels and get deployed for months at a time. I own a car that is not in use during my deployments. I have suspended normal auto coverage with multiple previous car insurance companies, most of which just give a refund on any current premium paid. A refund of the difference between the normal driving insurance and the cost to put the vehicle in storage and only have bare minimum coverage because the vehicle will not be getting driven during that time.

This company told me they refund the difference at the end of the storage time period and that I had to pay full premiums throughout the storage time frame. Okay, that is a different way of doing it but I was at the time fine with it. I was gone May-October and am owed a 70% refund of premiums paid during that time. I contacted Geico in October when I returned to restore the full policy and request the refund. Now they are saying the type of storage plan my policy was coded (by them!) is for military only. Nothing was said about that at the time. But hey, I happen to be military. So now they pretend it is back under review. This has been going on over 6 weeks. Today I filed a complaint with my state agency that oversees auto insurance. I encourage anyone getting jerked around by this company to file a complaint with the agency in your state that oversees insurance companies. If you can't find that office, file a complaint with your state Attorney General's office. This company is moving the goal posts after the fact and changing the rules after they collected a full premium. They lied to my face at the time I made the request to suspend coverage and continue to lie to me every time I call to find out the status of my refund. I am sick of this. I've never made a claim, had a speeding ticket, they already get a healthy premium from me and I've never made a claim. That is not enough for this greedy company. If they had been honest at the time I contacted them prior to my deployment, I would have just cancelled their insurance for the time period I was gone. Other companies do this the right way but Geico is just out to gouge as much money as possible out of you without offering basic value or customer service in return.

I have the unfortunate circumstance of living on a curve that is difficult for drivers to navigate. I have had damage done to my property numerous times by drivers with different insurance companies. Of all the companies I have had to file a claim against, Geico has been the most understanding and have followed through with what they said they would do. They have been consistent as well. Never once have they unreasonably questioned the cost to repair damages to my property. This is extremely important for you when choosing a company to represent and protect you if you are responsible for damaging or injuring another person or their property. If your insurance company doesn't treat the victim of your accident fairly, that victim, will most likely end up filling a lawsuit against you to recover damages. They don't need to deal with your insurance company when you are the one at fault because you are the one responsible for the damages, not your insurance company. You don't want your insurance company messing with your financial stability because they want to make money for their shareholders. You buy insurance to stay out of court. If the company is more concerned about their shareholders then they are with protecting you and you wind up in court, your insurance company is not fulfilling their contract with you. In my experience as a claimant with Geico, they are doing what they have contracted to do. As with any purchase of an insurance policy, understand what you are buying, what you are not buying, and don't be afraid to ask questions. Also remember that different market places have different people working in them and a national company may be better at serving customers and claimants based on the caliber of the employees working in those areas than others. Do your research carefully because your understanding of insurance is something that can make a difficult time easier to navigate or make your life miserable.

I had a very frustrating experience with Geico, and I want others to be aware of how I was treated, so you can be warned before hiring them. I now know Geico spends most of their money on targeted advertising, rather than paying claims to deserving clients.

I was insured by Geico from July 2017 to July 2018. Unbeknownst to me, Geico cancelled my policy due to a single speeding ticket from October that eventually resulted in a short-term suspension of my driver's license. Geico knew about this for months yet continued to take my monthly premium. Geico says that they notified me by sending a non-USPS certified (guaranteed receipt) letter to my former apartment. I never received notice via an email or a call to my cell phone. In July 2018, I was held at gunpoint at a gas station. The criminals stole my car and wallet from me. It was an incredibly traumatic incident. I had been a loyal Geico customer, one that had never missed a premium payment. When I called Geico to report the claim, it was then that I learned that Geico had canceled my policy EFFECTIVE TWELVE HOURS EARLIER.

I want others to know how Geico refused to honor my claim due to this technicality and fine print in a Tennessee state statute. Geico wants the world (especially young people who need to save money) to hire them, hence all of their millions on advertising, but they do not want you to submit a claim. If they can find a way to get out of paying you, they will. They spent thousands and thousands on legal fees fighting against me for 4 years versus doing the right thing and paying my auto theft claim. Please consider this before choosing Geico. Very disappointing.
