GEICO is a nasty, disgusting, scammer, burglar, thief and brazen company and I do not recommend anyone to have GEICO insurance, and if you already have GEICO insurance, give it up very quickly so that after accidents (God forbid) your fault, you won't face another new problem from GEICO, like GEICO's insured client, Ardy Baugh.
On December 7,2023, during of work while I was taking another Uber trip (Passenger Ms. Maria was in my car), Ardy Baugh rear-ended my car and broke the trunk, bumper, and trunk lock while I was standing under a red light of traffic light.
Ardy Baugh, without saying a word, admitted his guilt and handed me a driver's license, New York car registration and GEICO insurance, and on December 8,2023, I took my car to the body shop and filed a case that same day. I then sent GEICO all the videos and photos taken by my car's dash cam (Video: inside, front and back), but untill today, GEICO has not paid for repairs to my car or compensated me for the days I don't work due to the fault of GEICO insured person Ardy Baugh.
My car is still broken, I don't work and earn, but GEICO keeps sending me the stupidest emails just to not fix my car and not compensate me for the days I don't work, including: 1) Offering me to rent $300-$350 car from Uber and a job, and 2) Suggests that I contact my insurance company and ask my insurance company to do everything instead of GEICO and then increase my car insurance payout.
Ardy Baugh, if you are reading this, then know that I am preparing to go to court, and through the court you yourself, from your own pocket, will repair my car, which you crashed, and compensate for all the money that I did not work and did not earn due to your fault, from December 08,2023 until the date of the court decision.
Then you'll have to deal with your own $#*!ty company, GEICO.
GEICO is unpredictable and arbitrary. You'd need insurance for this insurance, since GEICO is unable or unwilling to provide the most important function of insurance: certainty. They cancelled my new auto insurance for no reason other than their own incompetence.
Long story short: I paid the policy in full. While on a vacation with my family, I opened GEICO app and was surprised to find that my policy is scheduled to be cancelled. When I came back home I found a letter saying that I have eight days from the 5th of October to send them documents (only accepted by postal mail, even though every document was a copy) or my insurance would be cancelled. In fact the letter was delivered *about 8 days after the 5th of October* (again, delivered while I was not home). At no earlier point had I been informed that these documents were required, and GEICO made no attempt to contact me by phone call, text message or Email. In fact, had I not checked the app and stayed on vacation for longer, I might have ended up driving without insurance unwittingly.
I called GEICO multiple times. They consistently assured me that if I sent the correct documents before the fast-approaching cancellation date, my policy would continue. So I sent all the documents they requested by priority mail. In spite of the supposed urgency they were attempting to convey, it took them six days after receiving the documents to start reviewing them (with no way to contact the underwriting department or confirm that they had recieved them). It took five more days for the final review because of their own confusion about what was clearly included in the documents I'd sent them.
Two days before the deadline, I find out by calling them (without any notification on their part) that, in fact, my policy will be cancelled. The reason is that I had no prior insurance, which they claimed was contrary to my statements. This is 100% false and can be refuted by recorded calls to customer service in which I stated that GEICO was my first insurance, and by the fact that they don't have the name of my previous insurance company and the coverage limits (required information when you register online if you state that you've been insured). GEICO had zero interest in checking the evidence or compensating me, and there was no way to appeal.
Price I have to pay for GEICO's incompetence: Having to find new insurance in two days (which was hard in the first place since I have no driving record in the US), possibly higher rates because of the cancellation on my record.
If it happened to me, it must have happened to thousands of other customers in the country, as confirmed by a large fraction of GEICO'S customer reviews online. So the chance that it will happen to you is non-negligible.
I have seriously gone through hell and back with Geico, my "trusty" insurance company these past few weeks. My truck was stolen from the parking lot of Academy Sports and Outdoors while I was inside the store with my family. The police were called, video footage reviewed, the police were able to find my truck by the end of the day... completely destroyed, empty, taken apart. After our initial cries of anger, frustration and impotence, I called my insurance company, Geico. They followed up with the police and said they would need to make their own investigation, perfect, no problem. Now let me specify that i switched to Geico after they offered me a few hundred dollar difference in policy payments if I got with them. Saving money? Great! I applied the full coverage, premium policy. I take care of my vehicles, so nothing but the best policy, better safe than sorry. Now around the time I switched I had gotten my truck custom fixed. I added brand new rims and wheels worth around $3.5k, new radio worth around $900 and custom leather interiors costing me about $2.5k. When I got the policy I made the agents EXPLICITLY aware of the truck details and changes and that I NEEDED everything covered under the policy. They assured me, all of my needs would be met, I wouldn't be sorry and everything would be covered... WRONG! Because two weeks ago after my truck was stolen and ripped apart and made the claim to Geico I was thrown into a whirlwind. I first talked to the agent Marvin Miller, who asked ME to go to the tow truck yard and take pictures of my truck MYSELF, because they were concerned about the pandemic. I guess I'm inmune to it, since they seemed pretty unconcerned about me going out and doing the job THEY are payed to do, but I digress. I wanted to get this over with and so, I went, got the photos, sent them. Now I wait. A few days later I got a call from agent Daniel Schmidt, who asked me to send him pictures of the custom parts of my truck, so they'd be able to assess the value. So I did. Schmidt told me although THEY valued my pieces at over $5.3k, they could ONLY offer me a whopping... $259 for my custom items. My truck was simply worth a combined total of $5,392 to them! Schmidt then informed me that although my truck was worth much more than that, OBVIOUSLY, they figured it would be less expensive FOR THEM to just consider my truck a totaled loss. Schmidt also informed me that Geico did NOT want to pay for ANYTHING custom made and even went as far as to berate me and say that he did not understand why anyone would invest that much money in custom parts for "just a truck". He informed me that vehicle parts depreciate in value with the years, which I completely understand, except my parts aren't 10 years old, they are 2 years old! There is NO WAY 95% of the value of my pieces are deprecated in value in ONLY TWO YEARS! He also told me that if I wanted to increase MAYBE some $50 more to their offer, I needed to dig up my custom parts receipts, which isn't really worth even looking for, for a mere $50! I vehemently REFUSED to be stepped on and thrown some chump change when I have spent YEARS paying a policy that is supposed to cover EVERYTHING! Because I refused to accept their demands, they told me, I had to return the rental car I had gotten, which by then I had only had for a whopping total of less than 24 hours! When I told them that was RIDICULOUS, because my policy says I am covered for THRITY FULL DAYS, Schmidt told me, since I refused to accept their $259 offer for my custom pieces, I had no reason to keep a rental. They also informed me that they did not want to continue paying for the wreck storage and needed to pick up my truck. I asked them how was I supposed to do that if my truck had no wheels and lord knows what else could be messed up from the inside, since no mechanic had yet to see it, I didn't deem that as safe. I was told that I would be allowed to BORROW a set of spare tires to take my truck home and I guess dump it in my driveway, then they would take the spares as well. I was just BEYONG PERPLEXED! After much complaining I was contacted with agent Ashanti Williams, who told me she couldn't do anything to help me other than EXTEND MY RENTAL FOR TWO MORE DAYS! So after paying for this insurance I am left with a two day rental, a hollow truck, a claim in my record and $259 check for my custom pieces worth more than $5.3k. I have to be content with that Geico claims to be #1 in CUSTOMER SATISFACTION, but from what I've seen they are #1 in screwing over their customers! At the end of the day, I saved an extra few hundred dollars a year in payments, but in the long run this was a complete and total rip off. Not having insurance would've cost me less to be completely honest. At this point I don't know what else to do except place a complain against Geico for their HORRENDOUS treatment of their customers ESPECIALLY THEIR PREMIUM FULL COVERAGE customers.

I have been a Geico customer for over 10 years. 2 years ago for some reason, they started sending me paper bills. I told them to stop it I don't want them. The option in my account for Paperless billing has always been on.
They told me that certain things don't go paperless. But they had been for YEARS before! I let it go. It happened on the next 3 billing periods, I contacted them and was given the same BS each time.
I emailed them last night, got this response from Sara:
"There are certain documents that will be sent through the mail even when you are on a paperless option. This is the case with the renewal bill and the renewal paperwork, including the insurance cards."
Oh but it WAS explained to me. But noone can explain to me why this policy changed two years ago, and why they still have the option for Paperless Billing in accounts.
I called just now and spoke to a Supervisor named Darryl.
He told me there was no way to logistically do what I asked. He could not explain to me why it wasn't a problem til 2 years ago. He tried to get me to change my policy billing to monthly and told me that if I did that I wouldn't get paper bills.
I said, "REALLY? Why would I want to pay the extra fee for monthly billing ($5 a month), just to get you to stop sending paper billa? Does it make ANY sense to you, what you just said to me?" He agree it didn't make sense but that that was the only way to do it.
I threatened to cancel, he did not offer at all to track this issue down. All companies do paperless now! Except, it seems, GEICO insurance.
If they truly went to sending paper bills 2 years ago, how many tons of paper do you think they have needlessly used? NO explanation at all for this action.
I will further quote THEIR OWN WEBSITE:
https://www.geico.com/auto-insurance/paperless-options/
This specifically tells people how wonderfully glorious their paperless billing option is! WTF GEICO?
There is a SYSTEM ERROR causing this in my opionion, and everyone I've talked to is too inept or too far out of touch with anyone that can resolve this issue and are just feeding me nonsense.
If indeed it is intentional, then SHAME ON GEICO for being jerks and killing the planet and wasting TONS and TONS of paper when they are trying to look all goody-two-shoes and claim this "awesome" paperless billing policy on their site!

So, the commercials promise a savings of 15% or more on your insurance bill. They do offer good rates, as far as I can tell. But they will get it back from you many times over...
Case in point #1: I had GEICO car insurance in NJ. They cancelled my policy because I got ONE $10 "illegal U-turn" ticket. In fact, I had mistakenly gone around a traffic circle in at an hour when going all the way was prohibited, and I missed the sign. But GEICO had decided to pull out of NJ because it wasn't profitable for them, and used any excuse they could find to cancel policies. By cancelling my policy, the only insurance I could get for the next 6 months cost me twice as much.
Case in point #2: Years later, I moved to MD, and foolishly chose the cheapest insurance policy I could - GEICO. I took my car to the shop for repair because the AC wasn't working. What they found was that a mouse had chewed through the wiring. That meant it was covered by insurance under my comprehensive coverage. Before staring work, I called GEICO to see if they wanted to inspect the car before I proceed. "No need" they said, because I had gone to a GEICO-approved shop, and the shop confirmed that a mouse had done the damage. The shop saved the evidence when doing the work, and after the repair was done, the shop called GEICO again to see if they wanted to see any of the evidence. "No need" they said, "just send us the bill." So the shop threw it out and billed GEICO. Weeks later. GEICO informed me that they would not pay for the damage because my claim was unbelievable. After considerable debate, they agreed to pay HALF on the basis that the air conditioning had depreciated by 50%!
Case in point #3: I should have gotten a new policy, but instead I bought a new car. I notified GEICO, and they sent me insurance cards for my new car. What I did not notice is that these new cards had an expiration date three weeks before they sent them. I had my insurance bills on autopay, and didn't notice any lack of bills. 5 months later, however, the MVA fined me $1500 for not having car insurance!?!?!?!?! THAT is how I found out. I took GEICO to court, since the law requires that they notify policy holders with 2 cancellation notices sent by registered mail, and I got none. GEICO said they sent the two notices in one envelope. When I demanded they show the registered mail receipt, they pointed out that the law didnt require them to confirm delivery. What they had as "proof" was a statement by their mail clerk that they send cancellation notices. The court offered me the option of forcing GEICO to re-insure my car, but no repayment of the fine.
Needless to say, I would never give business to GEICO ever again.
I just had this happen and wrote this email today to/with Geico.
I saw the claim person today, I understand that insurance companies have to deal with a lot of fraudulent claims. And in my circumstance I understand I forgot to include a major detail that happened after the first accident. Because not only was there a lot of things going through my mind to keep me from thinking properly, but I just wanted to get my vehicle off the road before it got hit again. But I found it abso---------lutely offensive when I was told, that the claim person felt I made up a hit and run story to claim hit and run. Had he talked to my manager, my manager would have confirmed after the accident happened I told him I only had liability and was going to have to repair the damages myself, even if I had full coverage I don't trust you or any other insurance company to take care of any of your drivers.
I know you people have not received any messages from me about payout or vehicle repair, because after I was even called by Geico and informed that the other thing I had on my insurance covered hit and run, I knew since I forgot to inform the police about it I was going to have to pay for it own of my own pocket still, and I HAD NO --- ---- PROBLEM WITH THAT until this ------------- basically said I was lying. Is this what I should expect? Do the right thing, report the accident, get ------ up in a another accident and be told, your a liar, the second accident was bull---- and never happened? I don't know what part about "I didn't file the claim right away, instead I got online to find out how much it was going to cost ME to repair this vehicle, since I thought I was only paying for liability" he did not understand. I have never been so utterly ------- insulted in my life.
---- YOU VERY MUCH GEICO.
SINCERELY,
