Our 2nd GE microwave in two years. This one not working the first day we installed it. Trying to get a replacement. GE says it must be non repairable to replace. This is unacceptable when it is brand new. It has so many issues, we are worried repairing may be inadequate and machine could start on fire. GE rep will not even return calls. So disappointed.
I bought a new home coming with GE appliances. On the first day of moving in, I found that the microwave does not work, so I made an repair request online. An officer also called me to confirm my needs one day before the in-person appointment. However, during our appointment time, another officer texted me and asked me to provide my address again, and then told me that there were no technician available at the time of our appointment. This is insane. They stated that the warranty group does not have access to the schedule and availibility of the technician group, but that is GE's problem itself. Their inner communication is so bad.
What I am so mad at is that they should have informed me that no one could come a few days earlier, instead of during my appointment time! Very disappointed. I would give them zero if possible.

Bought stove, range fan, fridge, microwave 4 years ago. Microwave started tripping the breaker 2 years ago and finally died this month. Stove stopped working 1 week after install and has now had 3 motherboards replaced and now has the control panel flashing off and on. The range hood only exhausts on one side. The fridge freezer can only keep up if you set it to the coldest setting and then stuff freezes in the fridge section.

94 days after purchase GE washing machine Model: GTW465ASN9WWstarted randomly dispensing water when not turned on. Woke us up in the middle of the night thinking a pipe burst. Has done same activity 4 times now. Machine is now unplugged and water supply turned off, so useless. Called GE, warned 30 minute wait time, sat on phone for over an hour, no one picked up. Went on line to request service through GE website, plugged in data and got back a response stating,"experiencing temporary issue, we cannot process your request at this time." Over and over and over, and given another number to call, takes you back to exact same phone que warning 30 minute wait time. Absolutely ridiculous!
What a joke for a major US brand. I reported a problem in early January and was given an appointment (earliest available) 2 weeks later. When the tech finally arrived, it turned out to be a rather simple problem...you would think. The refrigerator defroster was not working. Was this simple item in stock? No.,
So another appointment 2 weeks out! Parts arrived a week later. On the appointed day, I called GE Appliance Repair to determine when tech would arrive so I did not sit at home all day. "You do not have an appointment, your parts are on backorder so the appointment was cancelled" NO notice to me. When I advised that the parts had been delivered 1.5 weeks ago they said they would reschedule... in two weeks.
THAT MEANS IT TAKES 6 WEEKS TO FIX A BROKEN REFRIGERATOR DEFROSTER. I wont mention the cost of lost foods or the inconvenience of trying to feed a family on vacation with zero cold food!. I can assure you that GE could give a s$$it. Three times they failed to call back and I still do not know if they will show up to install these parts 6 weeks after my first call. We bought a Lennar home in 2017 that came complete with GE appliances for the kitchen and laundry. We have already had to have the washing machine replaced, the dishwasher replaced, the fridge repaired, and the range repaired. They charge $124 just to come look at it, and this is not applied to your repair work. The washing machine and dishwasher were replaced (for better appliances) because the repairs were going to be 60-70% the cost of a new unit.The stove needed a gas valve replaced because one of the control knobs wouldn't turn at all (thank goodness it was in off position). It was installed off-center but still worked. Not even a year later and the same part went out. I am calling to schedule service. I can schedule online but I want to explain the circumstances to see if there is anything they can do to bring the cost of the parts/repairs down. I have been waiting for over 50 minutes for someone to take the call. The techs are very nice courteous, but the quality of service and product are lacking.
I purchased my washer and dryer a month ago. The dryer is not drying the clothing completely. The washer is not washing. The second week after delivery the service tech replaced the board. The unit worked for a week and then stopped working again. Another service tech came by, and he had to order many parts. I called GE customer service and they said I do not qualify for a replacement unit. This is a garbage unit and poor customer service. I had a GE refrigerator for 2 years. One of the drawers broken only after 2 years of light use. I ordered OEM drawer from GE website. To my surprise drawer sent to me had a hugh crack on it! Now I have to pay for post to send it back! And I am responsible for costs! I made this review short and don't comment on rude woman on customer service, put me on hold for half an hour and connect me to non where! GE appliances quality and customer service is a joke!
Do NOT buy from GE. Washing machine is not even 3 years old and will no longer turn on. Tried to order a replacement part to fix from their website for next day delivery that showed in stock. Was told the next day that the past was out of stock and would not be delivered until over a month later. Ok. I get it, maybe the site didn't update. BUT they wouldn't cancel and refund my order. Who doesn't provide a refund for a service that they can't provide? And to make it worse the customer service was rude and dismissive. We purchased a GE Cafe induction stove in May, 2022 and on Dec 9,2023 the cooktop stopped working completely. We scheduled service and the tech came out fairly quickly. After diagnosing the issue we were told we had to replace parts which with the service charges total $1,200. I was shocked that a one and a half year old stove would need a major repair. We scheduled the repair, which the tech said would take a week. A week later We stayed home waiting for the tech that never came. After calling the GE customer service to find out where the service person was, I was told a part that was needed had not come in. However, no one bothered to inform us! We scheduled service for Dec 29th. On Dec 29th we waited around all day and no one showed. I called again only to discover that the part needed isn't expected to be available until Feb 12th! This means we are without a stove for two months. How can GE market products and not stand behind them? Why not have parts available for their recent products? The lack of reliability of this stove, the lack of communication from customer service, and no offer of relief for our situation has left us with no choice but to share our negative experience with others. I will never buy GE products again.

I am appalled at how hard it is to get a hold of someone to help you. They have wait times that are over an hour. Then when you create an account, the link does not work to try and pull an invoice. How are you supposed to pay it when they did not send the invoice and no one can help you?
I bought a new dryer in October. It worked 2 weeks. We contacted GE for it to get fixed and they set us up with a repair guy that lives 10 hrs away! Took them 2 weeks to come look and tell us they had to order parts. A month and a half later, no parts, repair guy won't return calls, Lowes won't exchange. Extended warranty won't so anything and nobody returns calls at GE. I have spent more at the laundry mat then the thing cost! I will never work with GE again.
We bought the washer/dryer combo in Oct 2023 from Lowe's for $2600, it is now Dec 2023 (2 months) and mid cycle our appliance stopped working, appliance will not power in and laundry is held hostage. We followed all troubleshooting guides from their book & everything we can find online with no help so we called customer service. First lady who answered was unable to assist and told us it would be a week before a tech can come out to us. we then spoke to a lady named Nikki who shouldn't even be able to have a job as she told my husband "you could be a better consumer" once he explained our frustration, she also told us that week timeframe was the best she could do or we can hire our own person to fix it. Mind you we have a warranty and we spend a lot of money on this appliance. After she continued to speak very poorly and continued to speak over my husband, my husband asked to speak to a manger. Manager was also very useless and pretty much told us they would not do anything. As i'm writing this my husband is on the phone with a 4th person from GE trying to get this fixed. Our laundry is currently held hostage, the machine will not power. This is the worst customer service i have ever experienced and will NEVER purchase a GE appliance ever again. I didn't spend a large amount of money with warranty on an appliance to be told i can't use it for a week and to spend more of my money to fix it.

Answer: Yes. I have repeatedly experienced this problem for the past 5 years on my 5 year old GE Refrigerator. Using your fist or a mallet, strongly tap on the fan's surround to break ice free. It will quiet down. However, a quality appliance would not require this type of user intervention. If it makes you feel better, I built a new house with all new GE appliances ( because we liked the slate color) and every single one has issues and has been a profound disappointment. NEVER NEVER NEVER buy GE. We learned the hard way.
