GE Appliances Reviews Summary

The overall reputation of the company is marred by significant customer dissatisfaction, primarily stemming from product quality issues and inadequate customer service. Common complaints highlight frequent appliance failures, particularly with dishwashers and microwaves, and a lack of effective support during repair processes, leading to frustrating delays and poor communication. While some customers have had positive experiences with other GE appliances, the prevailing sentiment reveals a deep disappointment with the reliability of products and the company's responsiveness. This suggests a pressing need for improvement in both product durability and customer service practices to restore consumer trust.

I purchased the GE Washer/Dryer All-in-One unit in December, and just a few months later, the dryer stopped working. It has now been over two months with the issue still unresolved. Despite several calls and emails, GE customer service has been completely unhelpful.
They've sent a technician three times and even replaced a part – yet the machine still doesn't work. Now, they've stopped responding to my emails and phone calls altogether. This has been an incredibly frustrating and disappointing experience.
Terrible customer service and absolutely no accountability. I expected better from a brand like GE. I will never buy any GE product again, and I strongly advise others to stay away as well.

Cosmetic repairs
April 8, 2025

Do not buy their ceramic cooktop ovens. I bought one and within a week of buying it the cooktop had cracked all across the top and they will not replace it because it is only cosmetic. In addition when I called them to check on the warranty I was assured it was under warranty and they set up an appointment to send out a tech. He came out and basically lied to me saying they would send the part and follow up with an appointment to install. But he closed out the ticket as not under warranty and that was that.

Our less than 6 month old dryer is completely broken and it has been over three months waiting for the warranty work to be done. The amount of time I have used calling and requesting better service is incermountable and still our dryer is not working and they have now pushed back out service date another 2 weeks. They do not offer compensation for being burdened by having a non working unit. From their reviews, it is easy to see that they do not care about their customers. If their plane engines are built as poorly as their appliances, we should all be afraid to fly

2 years ago my dishwasher was replaced under warranty. They sent a young boy who obviously didn't have much experience setting up a dishwasher. He first installed it crooked. I Noticed my floor was warping near the dishwasher. I pulled it out only to discover a slow leak in the drain line. It was never clamped as directed in manual. My floor have to be ripped out and replace. My insurance doesn't pay till deductible is met. Total night thanks to that fake installer GE sent.

GE stackable unit
February 5, 2025

I bought a stackable washer and dryer in 2020. The washer started making a horrible noise when spin drying. I had it checked and was told it would cost more than it's worth to repair it. We are both 81 and cannot take our clothes to the laundry room. We are on Social Security and cannot afford to buy another one.

Horrible service
November 25, 2024

This is the worst company ever. They have been out to fix our dryer on multiple occasions and has still not been able to fix it. They originally stated it was the duct work and not their problem. The second time someone said it was the heating coils and ordered parts. The third time when they came to install the heating coils the tech literally said nothing was wrong and banged the dryer around and now not only does it not want to dry but it sounds like something is dying in the dryer. When he came back to look at it for a fourth time, he said he couldn't hear the noise that you can literally hear throughout my 7000 sqft house. He then said he recommends to have it replaced, and they would get a hold of us in a week. Just called GE and they sate we are refusing to have it fixed. USE ANYONE ELSE!

Never again!
August 22, 2024

After only 2 months of light use the paint is coming off my GE Range! The GE Tech told me that this is an issue due to the painted surfaces. The cleaner they recommend also removed the paint. So they manufactured an appliance that cannot be cleaned. HOW STUPID! Ridiculous.I purchased 6 new GE appliances 2 months ago and they are all plastic pieces of crap. I hate this range most of all. I am trying to sell them all and purchase another brand. NEVER AGAIN GE!

I ordered a washing machine off of their direct website. That included delivery and installation. I paid extra to have the old washer hauled away. I was at work when the new washer was delivered but my teenage daughter was home to let them in. The delivery guys just dropped the washing machine off in the middle of my living room and left. I called the delivery/install crew to have them come back to hook it up and take the old one away and they straight up told me "No. It's too late." I called GE customer service to inform them of what happened and so they scheduled to have someone come out 2 days later to take the old washing machine. I moved it outside on the patio to make it easier for them to take it away and in return I asked that they move the new washing machine down to the basement where my laundry room is. Again I was told no. They said it was not on the order so they weren't doing it. I also noticed that GE charged me a second time for "haul away" when the old washer was never hauled away the first time. I called GE customer service AGAIN. They reversed the first "haul away" charge and scheduled someone to come out the following Monday between the hours of 11:30 AM and 3:30 PM for install. I made arrangements with work to be home during that time frame. I get a text that morning at 6:30 AM, on my way to work, saying that they would be at my house in 30 minutes for install. I text them back stating that the time frame for install was for that afternoon and they told me the work order was changed, that I was their first stop, and they weren't coming back in the afternoon. I had to call and wake up a friend of mine to go over to my house to let them in. They finally installed the washing machine but never stacked my dryer back on top and never hooked hooked the dryer back up. The reason was because the dryer wasn't a GE dryer so they weren't doing it. So that is something I am going to have to deal with when I get home. I am beyond aggravated with GE and it's contracted delivery/install crew. I will NEVER order another appliance from them ever again. Honestly, I should be compensated for all of the trouble and aggravation they put me through. If I could give negative stars, I would.

I purchased 19 GE dishwashers about 5 years ago for our rental properties. All our rentals have 1 tenant in them. All the same type of GE dishwasher (not the cheapest models).1 by 1 they all started doing the same thing after being less 5 years old or less. The panel would not light up. We would reset braker and some might work 1 or 2 times more but then they'd go completely dead. So far I've replaces at least 8 of them out of the 19. We also purchased gas stoves, GE above counter microwaves, GE refrigerators and all of those have been fine. Do not buy GE dishwashers!

GE's process really is broken. I have to change my password every time I access my account. It takes ages for the email to come through. All I needed to do was reschedule my appointment from morning to afternoon. Waited 30 minutes for the email that would allow me to change my password to access my account to do this online (still waiting), so I called instead. The automated assistant listed the options available, then wouldn't process "change appointment". I inadvertently said yes to something that got my appointment moved to another date. Went through the whole rigamarole again, only to finally be offered the chance to speak to a human. Which, I was informed, will be another 30 minute wait. Fingers crossed the call back option even works.

This is on the heels of the initial problem of missing two phone calls on the day of the appointment and my original appointment being cancelled. I did receive a text and responded to that. The problem is, I didn't realize I'd missed the calls and there was no notification the appointment had been cancelled. I kept checking the technician's status, and the window kept getting moved later and later. I called the next day and was basically told it was my fault for missing the calls. The second customer service agent I spoke to, because the one who rescheduled my appointment said complaints were fielded at a different number...!...said in her four years with the company had never heard of a text messaging system, so she couldn't help me there. Turns out, she couldn't really help me with anything. I guess GE is happy to let their customers be unsatisfied. BTW, this repair is a repeat issue. The first time, the technician said we would never have the problem again.

I will likely never use this service again. I'm annoyed that the issue reoccurred, I'm frustrated that accessing my account is such a challenge, I'm mad that the day-of service communication wasn't better, and I'm furious that it takes so long to reach an actual human to do the simplest thing. Save yourself the hassel and buy a different brand.

DO NOT BY A GE DRYER. MINE IS ONLY A YEAR AND A HALF OLD AND AM ON 4TH SERVICE CALL FOR SAME ISSUE. FIRST REPAIR MAIN TOLD ME TO GET AN EXTENDED WARRANTY AS HE SAW SO MANY GE DRYERS WITH SAME ISSUE AND WAS SURE THIS WOULDN'T BE THE LAST TIME. SO I GOT WARRANTY. SECOND CALL 3 MONTHS LATER FOR SAME ISSUE-NO HEAT- SUPPOSEDLY FIXES AND SAYS SHOULDN'T HAVE ANY MORE PROBLEMS. THIRD CALL THREE MONTHS LATER--SAME PROBLEM. LEFT WITHOUT FIXING AS HAD TO ORDER PART. WAS SUPPOSE TO BE HERE TODAY TO FIX--NOPE--PART NOT HERE AFTER 9 DAYS. I AM SO FRUSTRATED--YES I HAVE CALLED GE SERVERAL TIMES. LAST CONVERSATION I ASKED FOR MONETARY ALLOWANCE TOWARDS NEW DRYER--OH NO--THAT HAS TO GO THRU THE WARRANTY PEOPLE. THIS IS CLEARLY A DEFECTIVE DRYER BUT THEY WON'T ADMIT IT. ADD UP ALL THE TIME WITHOUT A DRYER AND IS AT LEAST 6 WEEKS. NO ONE CARES. JUST SAYING.

After one month of minimal use, GEModel #: JB655YKFS the coating burner coating started to disintegrate or collect residue within one month of less than normal usage. GE offered me an absurd "opportunity" to purchase another glass top at a discounted rate without regard for considering the coating or glass was poor quality or even the burner was poorly designed. They viewed the damage as "cosmetic". I would not recommend this product even though it's highly reviewed. GE solicits reviews too early which artificially inflates the product rating. They are not soliciting reviews after a reasonable period of usage so beware of the "reviews". I cleaned the bottoms of my All-Clad cookware before using them on the new stove. There is no user misuse or damage in this case simply poor quality product.

GE Cafe Dishwasher
April 22, 2024

We bought the GE Cafe dishwasher Model # CDT845P2N351 approximately 2 years ago and just found out that the main board is defective (after a $129.00 service call) and that I will have to pay another $430.76 in order to have this board replaced. Since we are away 4 months of the year, we have only used the dishwasher for 16 months. I do NOT recommend this product, as I have no faith that it will not happen again.

GE microwave mod. JVM3160RF6SS magnetron failed at 1 1/2 years old. Service call placed later because working thru GE customer service is a nightmare. Caroline in customer service is rude and did not open a case #. Four calls later I finally get a case # and transferred to Case Manager Terrell. After going round and round I was offered 70% off parts and a $115 service call. Could not get the cost of a magnetron… soooo no idea what a service call would cost. Opt # 2 pro rated cost of replacement micro wave. Did not see any pro rated pricing on $349 new microwave plus $110 delivery and installation charge. With service fee totaled &489. That's not a good choice. 3rd option buy on line on sale for $239 and replace it myself. Why not pro rate the $239 and me pay for installation. Just terrible customer support. Lots of shell game banter but nothing done. Consider this when purchasing GE… they do not stand behind their product.

Customer Service
March 25, 2024

I placed an online order on Friday night. After I submitted it I noticed an error. No way to go back in and correct it. Customer service was closed for the weeked so I call Monday morning as soon as they opened and asked for the order to be corrected. Was told the it had already been "pulled" and I would need to return it once I received it. Remember, they are closed on the weekend. They just want to make it difficult.

We bought a top of the line top loader washer a month ago. In the first week of having it the spinner was stuck in spin mode and would not stop spinning. I had to physically unplug it from the wall. Then 2 weeks later I put a load of towels in to be washed. I heard a weird noise coming from the washer and then it stopped. I went to take towels out to put in dryer. The towels were still soaked and the spinner did not spin then out at all. So we tried the spin and drain cycles and it would not work at all. Finally I called store where I purchased it from and told them. They would not return it for me they said the GE service guy would have to come to look at it. They came out and said the motor overheated and melted to the plastic pan underneath the washer. They said the can get a part for it to fix it but wont be here till April. At this point we don't want this machine we rather get another one instead. So, I called up GE customer service and they told me I can not return it that they can only fix it instead. Horrible customer service. There product is damage to my household. She told me it has to broke 3-4 times before possibly getting a different model. I would have to say don't get a GE anything cause if something goes wrong they won't take care of you.

Don't waste your time!
February 27, 2024

A repair is needed for my washer. Tech came twice and had to order parts each time. THREE appointments have been missed with ZERO communication on their end. Their solution? Make me wait another 2 weeks. Horrible, horrible service. They escalated my complaint and the agent had the nerve to get mad at me for just trying to get my machine fixed.

I purchased a GE profile range in Jan 17/2019 along with the 4 year extended warranty. GE is only responsible for the appliance for 1 year, so you're basically forced to purchase the extend warranty.
Nov. 3/2022 while I was baking, the convection fan made a load bang and the inside was on fire. I kept the door closed and pulled it away from the wall and unplugged it. Fire went out without the Fire department having to be called. So this fan&element for convection was replaced as I had the warranty. However, the inconvenience is not taken into consideration!
2 weeks ago, I realized the right front burner was not heating up, only the outside ring went red, interior stayed cold. I thought I was covered, but nope, My extended warranty expired Jan 17/2024
After calling the warranty company & GE, no luck!
An appliance shouldn't fail within a 5 year period!
The thermostat also doesn't keep the temp in the oven, the cheaply made plastic knobs crack over time and are $48.00 each to replace! They are cheap Plastic made to look like stainless steel!
The light inside the oven doesn't work, even after changing the bulb.
Overall, GE appliances suck! Their customer service people are polite, but totally useless!
GE is a joke! I'm not able to keep paying thousands of dollars every 5 years for appliances. Stay away from GE!
