We bought a $17k fridge from GE, it's 800lbs. It arrived broken / not functioning properly and for MONTHS it's been sitting in my poor parent's kitchen / living room because they first refused to exchange it.
After they finally agreed to the exchange it, there has been NO update for MONTHS on when the new one will arrive, and they keep telling us that they "cannot find 4 people to move the fridge into place". We've been reaching out every week to check in because every manager tells us "I will call or email you an update tomorrow" but ALL OF THEM have failed to keep their word.
THEY SELL APPLIANCES THAT THEY CANNOT MOVE. They also refuse to let us use a 3rd party to install it and pay for that? Instead they would rather leave my 65+ year old parents in the dust to deal with this on their own, absolutely unbelievable. Again, it's 800lb!
My parents are so incredibly sweet to everyone, even when they have been wronged, yet they have been YELLED AT over the phone because they kindly asked "sorry just wondering if anyone is coming today, we were booked for people to come in today between 8-4pm but it's 5pm now and no one has come yet" and they get YELLED AT! LIKE WHAT!? I was in complete disbelief hearing this phone call….and after over SIX (6) MONTHS of absolutely disgusting and completely unprofessional customer service there has been no manager who has provided my parents with ANYYYY sort of apology or partial return for the profound disrespect from staff and inconvenience from having this massively heavy fridge just stuck in their living room.
I will NEVER be buying anything from GE, and especially after reading all the other similar experiences in people's reviews, I will be telling everyone I know how awful GE is and that I would never ever recommend that even my worst enemy buy from GE. Disgusting, horrible. Horrible! Please STAY AWAY FROM GE!
Massive 800lb $17,000 fridge, broken, no refund, exchange only but WHERE IS OUR EXCHANGE?? ITS BEEN MONTHS. Absolutely HORRIBLE service (non existent service!!!!!)
On November 10th, 2023 during normal microwave (mode: GVM6175SK5SS, Serial#: SS*******L) operation - heating chicken nuggets on glass microwave turntable covered by plastic original microwave cover, huge fire suddenly started. My wife was able to put out a fire and GE customer relations department was contacted.
6 days past after this disaster and GE/Haier Appliances Technician (Christopher (807)) visited our home. After evaluating microwave, he informed us that fire caused by "FAULTY MANUFACTURING" and after 2-3 business days we will be contacted to schedule appointment for replacement of microwave. After waiting for 4 days no one contacted us, so I called Customer relations again. To my surprise, they informed me absolutely different reason for a fire: "Un-microwavable chicken"(? Never heard of such!)
I contacted GE CEO office of Mr. Kevin Nolan and in a few days received call from Charman's office. Ms. Buford provided me 3rd version of fire cause: "Un-safe microwave dish" (even there weren't any dish, except glass microwave turntable was used during normal operation and technician saw it).
We are very disappointed how this case of FIRE HAZARD handled by GE/Haier Appliances!
They offered me an option to replace microwave for "discounted" price of $296.63. Cost of this Microwave model JVM6175SKSS in any store now $247, so GE offer hardly qualifies as discount.
I always thought that GE/Haier Appliances is a great company that cares about reputation and not just doing simply cover up of dangerous fire hazard it's products.
GE/Haier Appliances case # ******* is open. Still hope that GE/Haier Appliances Management will have an attention to this disaster and handle it properly!
Below is the reference to Class Action related to GE Microwaves fire hazard:

I am sure that GE Management is aware about it and just trying to cover up these dangerous issues with it's microwaves!
Do not buy GE appliances. It can cost You injuries and property damage!
not decided yet, but not GE for sure
I am 67 and have always been a loyal GE customer. 3 years ago (2020), we bought a GE french door, bottom freezer refrigerator. Model # GYE22HSKNSS. Towards the end September 2023, we noticed a lot of condensation on items inside it. The right side door was not shutting. It wasn't opening enough to set the alarm off. We called Centricity (the warranty company) on October 2,2023 and set up an appointment for October 5,2023. The tech arrived and ordered the part. The part did not come in until October 20,2023! On October 27,2023, the tech installed the part. Now we can hardly close the right side door, and it makes the left door open slightly. I called the repair company that day. Left a message. No one called back. I called again on November 2,2023 and left another message. They called back later that day and I was told I had to contact Centricity to get a work order. I called Centricity and was put on a call-back list for 1:17pm that day. No call ever happened. I called back on November 3,2023 and was put on a call-back list for 4:24pm that day. No one called back. I called again at 4:45pm and was told that the company had called and ordered parts and we would now have to wait for the parts. I'm not sure how anyone knows what parts to order, since no one has looked at this new problem. So, we continue propping the door shut with a chair. After all this horrible customer service, I doubt we deal with GE again.
November 18th, 2023...We are STILL waiting for GE to ship the part for the new problem!
December 13,2023...Repairman came with the part and repaired the door. Both doors close now. No more condensation inside the fridge.
Our daughter bought a GE front load "Ultrafresh" washer, a high end machine, last year, then, moved into a furnished place and gifted us, her parents the machine. Went to register it for the warranty and found out that it was time to buy an extended warranty or suffer the consequences. So, we bought a 3 year extended warranty, paid in full in advance for it, and thought that would take care of any service that we may need in the near term. Then, the washer died. I mean that it would not light up or anything. Just a mysterious clicking sound about every 10 seconds or so, but, no control panel illumination, error messages, or anything else. So, we called GE and scheduled a service tech to diagnose. First the tech said that the software was indicating a power supply problem. Power supply into the machine was 121 volts ac with about.001 volt of ac ripple (noise) and that's real clean power. No leakage to ground. No neutral to ground difference, either. So, the tech replaced the main board, and a power filter on the machine. He reassembled and tested. No luck. Still just a mysterious clicking sound. He ordered some other parts and scheduled a return trip in a few weeks. Next service, same results, after replacing the drum drive power board and some other components. Still, no luck. Another parts order and another month's wait for service. Tech replace the front control pc board and a small communications port. Still nothing. He finally gave up, as most all electronics of the machine had now been replaced. So, we called GE Appliance Service at *******215 and stayed on the phone with a representative for about an hour (most of the time on hold). Were then told to call Assurant, the company that we have the extended warranty with. Called them at *******001, Assurant Service Protection Advantage. After about an hour on the phone with them explaining the situation and requesting service on my machine, the representative there told me to call GE Appliance Service. I called GE Appliance Service and spent about another hour on the phone with a different representative, who finally gave me the phone number and mailing address (for the legal paperwork from my lawyer when I file suite) to try and get them to honor the warranty agreement that I had previously purchased from Assurant. Still waiting to get a resolution from GE or Assurant on this issue. The statute of limitations for small claims court in Florida, I believe, is two years. My clothes cannot wait that long to be washed. My advise: NEVER, EVER, EVER BUY ANYTHING SOLD WITH THE GE NAME ON IT>
GE Ultrafresh Front Load washing machine.
Purchased a GE Profile Built-in Double Oven, PTD7000SN3SS, November 22nd. On December 22nd I performed a 3hr self-clean (the shortest time interval allowed) on the upper oven. Halfway through the cycle the display went blank. Since then, the display/control panel remained blank and the upper oven remained locked. On December 23rd, I called the retailer. Although only one month old, they said I needed to get a return authorization from GE. I immediately called GE, received a recording saying they were closed for the holidays and would be available December 27th. I called on December 27th and they set up an appointment with their 3rd party warrantee repair company for December 28th. On the afternoon of December 28th the repair company called and said there was no way they could come that day and the earliest appointment was January 9th. The repairman came on January 9th to "evaluate" the oven. He thought it needed a new main circuit board as well as a new display circuit board...basically ALL the electronics. He also insinuated I was stupid for even trying to run the self-clean function. I asked and he agreed to call me back the next day to inform me when the parts would come in. He didn't. I called their office four times over three days, until they finally informed me the parts were on backorder and the earliest they would arrive was mid-February but probably later. Called GE's Customer Relations and gave them the information from the repair company. They gave me a case number, *******, and said they would email me with an answer within 24-48 hours. It's now 5-days later an no email. I'd had it with GE. I went back to the retailer and talked to a supervisor. I explained the situation and detailed my attempts to work through GE. Thankfully, he understood and arranged for a replacement oven. Until it broke, we liked the oven. We have other GE Profile appliances we also like. Perhaps the oven malfunction was a one-off problem. However, their customer service was abysmal and they failed miserably. Likewise, their designated authorized warrantee repair company was equally pathetic. The only person in the whole process who did the right thing was the retail supervisor where I bought the oven. I won't be buying GE appliances in the future.
I purchased a brand new house in march of 2022, which I was given options for the GE products where i upgraded to a double wall oven and cooktop and dishwasher for my selections. BIG mistake to chose GE products! GE makes ovens with a self cleaning mode but every repair person will tell you that you should never use it as it creates problems for your oven. I wish I knew that before I ran my self clean for my lower oven to prepare for the holidays. I ran the self clean mode and it went through the process fine and completed the self clean mode however during the cool down mode the oven turned off. When you look up the process it says that is normal and when the oven cools down it will turn back on. The next morning I go to look at my oven and it is still off, i look to trouble shoot it and i try flipping breakers but that does not help at all. I call the GE Cares team and since I can't provide the model number or serial number they let me know they can get someone out to me in December some time. I google how to open the doors and finally with a hanger open the door and then call back on a Sunday, they set me up with an appt for someone to come on Tuesday to look at it. I get a confirmation email from GE CARES and was told to call the vendor and let them know what is going on with the oven. I leave a message on Monday and never hear back from the vendor. Tuesday the 4 hour window comes and goes and no one comes. I call GE CARES back and they tell me well if they didn't call within the 24-48 hour window to confirm I shouldnt have taken the time off to wait for the vendor. I HAVE A CONFIRMATION EMAIL YOU SENT ME! They call the vendor and they said they will call me back which they havent to set up service for next Monday. I speak to a GE CARES cusotmer concern person who puts me on hold for 32 minutes and then hangs up. STAY AWAY FROM GE PRODUCTS!
For this price, you'd expect something that'll function and look good for 10 years or more. At least 5, even if you're a severely pessimistic person!
But this refrigerator put GE on our "avoid" list from here on out when it comes to appliances. Where to start!
Materials:
Maybe all GE plastic components were being supplied from somewhere very unreliable during the first Covid year, but either way, they have no strength.
1.) The fridge arrived with a broken frame on one of the shelf units (about those frames! More on that later).
2.) A warranty claim got us a new one delivered... which arrived with a broken plastic frame!
3.) Within the first month of owning it, the drawer slide for the cheese drawer broke right where it holds the weight of the drawer. A technician was sent, who ordered a replacement drawer slide (more on him later!).
4.) One day, my wife pointed out the ice maker didn't seem to be making enough ice any more. When I looked, I found one of the "teeth" of the tray on the top had broken off, and chunks of ice were now getting stuck there and preventing the arms from rotating. Ice production stopped.
5.) The top of the door, made of the same plastic as everything else, has warped! How, I don't know. We don't store anything up there and it doesn't get hot. It has warped almost to the point of not hitting the button that tells the fridge the door is closed.
6.) Same plastic, next problem: the cheese drawer slides on the same white plastic, which is so cheap that each slide causes a little of the white plastic to turn into powder. We all have microplastics running through our veins... why not a little more? Goes good with cheddar!
7.) While cleaning the other day I discovered a crack in, yup, the same white plastic... I don't even remember now where I saw it, but I remember thinking, it's just a matter of time before that part fails.
Engineering:
1.) Obivously, the plastic! Why? To cut costs? This stuff is garbage.
2.) The shelves are wrapped in a plastic frame that is plastic-welded at the corners and impossible to remove. The plastic is not in any way glued or adhered to the glass. So, if you ever spill anything, cleaning it out is practically impossible. Poor design!
3.) GE engineered the ice-maker water filter so that it lasts about 6 months (max!), and costs 50 bucks. If you don't change it out, either it gets clogged (one theory I found on the internet), or the computer shuts down water flow (another such theory). Either way, water flow dies and then ice starts getting smaller. If a small piece of ice gets lodged between the arm that pushes it out and the white plastic (yup! Same stuff I suppose!) tooth that guides it into the tray, the tooth might break. Then, ice will forever get stuck, even if you change the filter and water flow is restored. I think GE stands for "Greedy Engineering"!
4.) The upper door hinge is not adjustable, so if you want your door to close automatically based on gravity, you have to tilt the fridge a good half inch backwards at the top.
5.) The amount of space wasted in the freezer is crazy. We've had bottom freezers before that made a lot more sense.
Service:
1.) When the flimsy drawer holder broke within a month, and we couldn't even figure out how or when (see above), they sent a technician. When I showed him the drawer slides, he told me it was our own fault for putting too much stuff in the drawer. Guilty as charged! We put cheese in the cheese drawer and it broke! Shame on us. Gotta buy lighter cheeses I guess! It took an argument and a threat to call in a supervisor at GE immediately for him to place an order for a new one. What a jerk!
2.) When I figured out what caused the ice-maker to break, I called them on it. But the warranty period had passed (by about 6 months). The complaint was escalated, and they refused to send me a new ice-maker free of charge. They cost about 100. And that's why I'm writing this review.
Don't buy a GE product. They used to be great, but times have changed. Now they only care about their profit margins. Shame on you, GE!

Never work with this company ever again. I honestly got cussed at for no reason what so ever, and it was all unprovoked. This technicians name is Abdul, and he was scheduled to fix a problem under warranty at one of our properties in Sterling, off of Williamsburg Rd. Nobody should ever conduct business this way. Also, This was our fourth time trying to get GE to come back to our property for not fixing this issue…because they simply claimed to not have the part! We're a property Management Company in Burke, VA…and we will spread the word out to everyone we know in our line of work, etc…AND convince them never to work with GE or even consider the possibility of working with them. Our experience with them has been a complete nightmare. I swear, I would rather eat Tide Pods…than ever work/do business with GE ever again…. BUT, if you do…Make sure it's not a worker named "Abdul"…. The rudest worker in all my years of doing this, and if he treats US like crap…do you think he's going to treat our business/problems with class, integrity, or extreme professionalism…NOT A CHANCE IN HELL! General Electric is the worst! Make sure you don't work with a guy named "Abdul." Never use General Electric for anything! If they had an option for NEGATIVE 5 STARS…That is exactly what Abdul's customer service/this company WOULD receive!
NEVER USE GENERAL ELECTRIC. SAVE YOURSELF THE HASTLE! IF YOU DO…ASK FOR ANYONE BUT "ABDUL!" WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EVER! DON'T DO IT! GENERAL ELECTRIC IS AWFUL…SPREAD THE WORD! IF YOU GET "ABDUL" AS YOUR TECHNITION, RUN FOR THE HILLS. JK, JK, Just simple don't use General Electric for a single thing. I'm really trying my best here to help you all out! THANK YOU FOR READING AND TAKING THIS SERIOUSLY! DONT USE GENERAL ELECTRIC!
DONT HIRE/USE GENERAL ELECTRIC FOR ANYTHING! SAVE YOURSELF THE TROUBLE!
IF YOU DO…ASK for ANYONE BUT "Abdul!"
Only major tip to offer is this: NEVER USE GENERAL ELECTRIC FOR ANYTHING…! (OR…If you do, just make sure you never use a TECHNICIAN named “Abdul”). Abdul will cuss you out and provide the worst customer service of your entire life!…You’ve been warned friends!
All of this was simply over a small fuse that a mouse chewed Through and it’s been absolute HELL!
If I could give a zero I would.
Bought a washer and dryer Brand new. The washing machine has not ran a cycle yet. It keeps tripping my breaker.
Replaced the breaker with brand new 15amp afci. Washer still tripped.
July 8th First tech came out told me I need to upgrade to 20 amp because the washing machine is amping to 18amps.
Bought a new breaker an other $120.00. Luckily I called my electrician before hand in which he told me that I can not replace the 15amp to 20amp and that the washing machine has something wrong with it due to the fact it's jumping to 18amps.
Second tech visit claims he can't do amp test.
Third tech visit. (Different tech) confirms 18amp draw.
Fourth tech visit replaced a part but couldn't perform amp test. (Washing machine still tripping breaker.
Spoke with manager Dieago Thursday July 29. Said he would review file and get back to me once he has tech reports. Friday or the following Monday.
Aug 4th phone call from Diego. Which says a new tech will be out shortly and that the company will call me today or tomorrow for a new appointment. Has not received reports and has no solution or answers. Asked to have a new manager call me. Call tech company to try and make an appointment. Lady hangs up in my ear when I explain my situation.
At this point I spent $2100 on a washer and dryer and have yet to run a cycle. I have been trying to repair the washing machine for over a month and no one has options or solutions. The GE management team thinks that this is acceptable and that the warranty is for repair in which they are doing so.
In my opinion over a month without a washing machine is extremely unacceptable. I am now very frustrated with the situation.
I ordered 3 sets of Samsung never an issue. This is my first GE. Never to purchase again.
Bought Samsung
Wife and I ordered a new washer and dryer (4-20-22) thru Costco, they were GE products - to be delivered 4-25. Thinking Costco would be delivering we found out FAR too late that once Costco issues the order internally, GE takes over ALL control of literally everything from that point forward. (Costco claims GE is only MFR that does this and it remains of great concern and issue to/with Costco) GE does NOT interface with Costco and operates totally on the outside of Costco. Now we understand why: so they can try to get away with extremely dubious, if not devious activities... some, literally bordering on fraud. Both delivered washer and dryer (1st delivery) were used/refurbished and had noticeable wear, etc. The GE delivery crew lied to us as concerned several questions, did not level either appliance, didn't hookup the dryer to the vent, but turned on the dryer and washer and immediately left our home, where upon the washer began making all kinds of very loud racket so I turned it off and looked inside. The agitator was in pieces banging around the water filled grease ringed tub. Clearly not new! The dryer had marks all over the back that indicated it had come from somewhere else but the factory and was banging loudly, EMPTY. Very distressed I called in for replacements [to Costco] - and found they can't do anything, so I had to call the GE delivery people, who gave me a callback number that turned out to be phony... ie: fake. When dialed, the telephone company message says "it is not a working number".
$
(2nd delivery) Took GE until May 9th to get us a supposedly "new" washer... but no dryer came! The "new" washer was **also** used/rebuilt. (I have a ton of emails, a hundred pictures and many videos to prove all of what I claim here in this VERY ABBREVIATED review!)
$
(3rd delivery) May 16th they finally brought a 2nd dryer and 3rd washer out. I rejected the dryer before it even came off the street because it clearly was another used/refurbished unit! The washer got scrutinized inside, where facia scratches were everywhere, the back was damaged, the inside was filthy.
$
DONE! This was the last straw. I contacted GE and Costco and told them both this stuff is going back and I want my money back. Costco said they have to wait for GE to pick the items up. Then I was told by GE it couldn't happen right away. WHAT?! I immediately took out the appliances to the back patio and wifey and I went to Lowes and bought the SAME appliances, which were delivered by Lowes 5-22-22. I kept the appliance boxes to cover the GE units on the patio to protect them in the interim.
$
Even after many calls and texts GE did not bother to pick up the appliances until JUNE 4th! Then they wouldn't give us a receipt that they had done so. Fed us all kinds of lines to try to support their comment, so was clear something was not right -AGAIN. It became clear they were stiff-arming us after 5 days so I had to threaten them with theft, as well as shared I had a full length video of them removing the appliances from our property (which I did). Within the hour I got text and email confirmation our appliances had been checked in/credited back and that Costco had been advised - so Costco could finally process our money back to our account... which occurred on the 9th.
$
We found this supposed "professional" GE delivery service went by 3 different names and *none* of the operations people appear to be trustworthy at any level, including all "mgmt". GE corporate is fully aware of these flakes (they hired them in the first place!) but apparently hires such outsiders so there is always a huge level of deniable culpability. WOW - what a way to do business!
$
By the way the appliances we got from Lowes WERE "new" and have been working like champs! MORAL: Do not buy *ANYTHING* G. E. from Costco. GE runs all over the Costco staff and the Costco good name and is but an ugly blight upon Costco proper! You ought know Costco hands were tied in all of this (GE doesn't even let them deliver GE products) so cannot blame Costco, except for ONE THING: Costco continues to handle GE in spite of the fact Costco told us GE is terrible to do business with, especially because they cut Costco out of the picture after all sales. Costco (different people at different levels within) shared they have manifold complaints from customers about the GE scenario.
$
It would "appear" GE does supply actual "new" appliances to those retailers who do delivery of products OUTSIDE of the GE hired crews. [ie: those retailers that do not use GE delivery crews.] At least that was the case/our experience with Lowes. We're glad for that because had the appliances we bought from Lowes at all indicated they had been used/rebuilt/refurbished/etc, the matter would have had to go full-on legal against GE and news crews would definitely have been called in. The fact that Lowes appliances WERE as advertised ("NEW") was the savings grace for GE.
$
Be VERY careful from whom you buy GE products from and definitely inquire WHO does the deliveries and set-ups. NO ONE should have to have had the terrible experiences we did with GE, yet we understand that a great many have. I felt an obligation to share all this so others who do a bit of due-diligence (research) might not get burned the way we did. Hope this helps, thanks for listening.
PS: Even though I originally entered the visual evidence below IN order, oldest to newest, the site apparently auto-rearranged them and I can't number them or rearrange them back in order.
INVESTIGATE before putting your cash on the table! We/I wish we had known that Costco was only the" front man" for GE appliance products and that GE took over every thing/every detail **after** a person makes a purchase via Costco. GE delivery services, via GE, could be a really BAD THING and experience if you aren't careful. It certainly was for us! 3 times in a row on just ONE PURCHASE!
After 3 attempts for one purchase: **None** from GE delivery/ge-appliances c/o Costco. Our washer dryer appliance purchases ended up being from Lowes, and we are happy with both.
