App told me gas price as of 2 hours ago was $2.86, it was actually $3.269. I changed the price in the app however it fod not change on my wife's phone app. Waste of time.
Took off articles relevant to the gas station business. Changed the web site to where it is almost unusable. Not nearly as many members posting updated prices since the change. Site was bought out by OPIS awhile back who makes money off supply contracts on the wholesale price of fuel. Conflict of interest may be the cause of the site being less useful to the consumer!
I have saved many times but I've lost up to.50 /gal. By incorrect prices that are advertised. Twice I went to discounts where the station was out of gas or under construction, wasting my trip. They get by with this by stating that all prices are reportedbyusers so not their fault. But they get discounts from the stations, why not prices? It is too frustrating to continue; I'll just use my local station discounts, thank you. I'm out! (The screenshot shows 3.19 price. Was advertised at 2.66.)
What a farce!
This weekend a gas company is offering 15 cents a litre off to Journey card holders. (Journey is a loyalty thing for ultramarine/pioneer).
I went to the station in Oak Ridges, price 20 minutes before I got there was 1.383 and was posted by user haseff. I arrived and price was 1.50 a litre. Didn't get gas! Wife posted the correct price for me.
Went to the station in Gormley, price had been posted by the same user but surprise it was 1.459 a litre.
Gassed up and posted correct price.
Came home and guess what, haseff has changed the Oak Ridges price back 22 minutes after I was there.
So to my simple mind either the gas company is screwing around or the station staff/management is screwing around.
Guess you can't trust gas buddy until they put something in there to keep the Haseff's of the world honest!
GasBuddy routinely charges me more than the advertised price after discounts. For example, I only save $0.03 per gallon even when the app says I will save $0.08. This is only 1% discount. I could have been saving at least 2% by using a rewards credit card this whole time. This seems like a scam. For example, today at Shell, the discounted price advertised was $2.77 after $0.03 gasbuddy and $0.05 fuel rewards. For 10.105 gallons the charge should have been $27.99, but I was charged $28.59, so only saved $0.30 over 10 gallons, $0.03 per gallon. There is no information stating that there is anything I did wrong, or anything else I needed to do, or could do, to receive the advertised price. This has happened many times. I have documentation. I think GasBuddy needs to be investigated for fraud.
Gasbuddy is not a useful tool during hurricanes or times of shortages. Although every news outlet seems to cite them as a useful tool (how much did they pay for that?!), there is no way for people to mark when a gas station does not have gas. The data on their website is unreliable and causes people to go to gas stations that have no gas.
There is no moderation of price posts and no discipline of the hucksters who consistently (and obviously maliciously) post incorrect prices. I have made brief detours because Gas Buddy reports a lower price on fuel at a station a couple of miles off my intended route, only to find the price significantly higher at the pump than reported on Gas Buddy. It's also happened numerous times at a station in my neighborhood. I'll post the correct price and within an hour or two, it's changed back to the incorrect (lower) price - and always by the same user who also posts incorrect (lower) prices for all the other grades of fuel on offer at the same time. This is an intentional scam, likely by the station owner or someone else connected with the business. Gas Buddy turns a deaf ear to complaints. This is something they could moderate and control but they choose not to. Because of this, I have no doubt they are equally dismissive of the privacy complaints raised by others. This app is a total scam. Avoid it.
I have used the gas buddy app for a few years now and have saved multiple times. A very useful tool for saving $. Unfortunately not very impressed with the local Tim Horton locations being listed along with the gas stations, how is this relevant on a gasoline comparison app? Very disappointing, if I want coffee, I'll go to the coffee app.
Drove 30 minutes to get Diesel at Valero/Anthem Oil at 2490 N. Tustin St. In Orange, CA, as Gas Buddy said it was much cheaper there. Arrived and found out it was $1 a gallon more than stated. Worker said they didn't know anything about it. To top it off, when I filled up they put a $175 hold on my credit card. Go elsewhere!
I would estimate that at least 75% of people posting gas prices in Wichita have not been anywhere near a gas station that they posted a price for. What this means to the person using gasbuddy to find gas will more than likely go to a station that one of the gasbuddy liars has posted and find that the gas price at the station is totally wrong.
It's bad enough with all the liars posting, but now I can't seem to get points even though I am very close to the station I am posting. Another thing bad about gasbuddy is that as you travel most of the time gasbuddy does not show you the neatest gas station even though you have it set by distance.
All I can say is that gasbuddy allows people to post prices on the web with no proof they were ever at the gas station. Some people post numerous gas stations during one minute. The gas stations are more than a mile apart. Can you go to 3 gas stations that are each a mile apart in 1 minute? I think not. Yet they get points for doing this.
Went to 4 stations on 7/11/24 based on prices reported to Gas Buddy. All of the actual prices were drastically higher than the prices reported via Gas Buddy. We'd driven far out of our way based on the GB reported prices. AND, when I submitted correct prices to Gas Buddy, they were never posted. I have relied on GB for best gas prices for years but won't be depending on GB anymore. Something fishy going on.
Seems like my account is not working now. I have done everything you asked. Now if you could fix this it would be greatly appreciated. I am a Regional manager for a pharmaceutical company. My company has thousands of GasBuddy accounts. If mine can't get be fixed I am going to have the company discontinue all GasBuddy accounts losing your company hundreds of thousands of dollars.
Silly that you would want this instead of fixing an account which had been with you for years. Simply because one of your employees bullied my nephew who is autistic. I will make sure many people hear about this. They employ immature people like Cady and Nychole who like bullying people.
Absolutely the worst company. Simply find another company is my advice.
Went to a station because of gas buddy price. Get there and it is higher for both midgrade and premium. Corrected the prices. It stuck for about 5 seconds and the reverted to wrong price. Tried three times. Every time it reverted to wrong price after about 5 seconds. Can't trust it.
Pulling a 5th wheel needing diesel, tried 3 different times on trip, last stop said $4.79, wind all around through city streets on to find it $5.49, headed back to the highway on our own and it's 29 cents cheaper. So frustrating, won't use the site again while traveling.
We just drove 10 miles out of our way because Mobile advertised 3.62. When we got there it was 377. I suspect that the business has people constantly updating their gas price to something outrageously low just to get customers to drive there.
Just tried using this app and the card stopped working while I was at a pump. It is not updated, even if it states it was 2 to 4 hrs ago, it will be more at the pump. Just stick to Waze app. I would not recommend gas buddy be used by anyone. A total incompetent app! You have been warned and I hope it helps someone use any other alternative. I enclose a photo of my receipt before it stopped working at any other pump or even gas station?
Used to save money- now just full of fake prices, seldom accurate due to gamers trying to get app points and cheating gas station owners trying to attract unwary drivers. Waste of time.
Prices are completely unreliable (literally, more incorrect than correct). Station owners have learned to cheat the system by posting fake prices. It's up to GasBuddy to plug the holes in its system. If people stop using GasBuddy, they will be more motivated to ensure price accuracy on the app.
I've used for 6 months. Kind of fun to start with. Now it's just disappointing. I'm not cheating. I go to each gas station submit info. The points are gone. I'm deleting this app today. Also the truck drivers should be on a different program. How can one compete with that. Good bye gas buddy.
GasBuddy needs to crack down on owners reporting false prices. The same names keep popping up at certain stations, with prices often 25 cents or more lower than actual. This has made GasBuddy completely useless.
Answer: Nobody I know has ever won. I have been a member over 9 years and I've never won. I entered 103,000 points, 103 tickets, all at once the day after St. Patrick's Day and I didn't win. So the short answer is someone must be winning these things, but you probably have better odds with a lottery scratcher. I also find it strange that often times the winners are brand new to the website with low point totals and often stop using the website after they win, kinda strange.
Answer: I see lots of people here reporting issues using GB, but my wife and I have had nothing but good luck using it all up and down the east cost. No false charges, not wrong prices, etc. we try and faithfully confirm or correct any prices off, but that rarely happens and is only a couple cents here and there when it does. Happy user here! YMMV
Answer: I just used it for the first time and I guess I didn't read enough of the fine print. I was expecting to see the price drop at the pump, but instead I needed up paying full retail price at the pump and I guess the savings is supposed to come off the back end when it hits my bank. Not sure, but I can tell you this, that was my first and last time using the card. I would rather see my savings immediately at the pump than have to wait to hopefully see them show up in my bank account. Ill just continue to use my loyalty cards. I hope this helps!
Answer: I cannot currently imagine as to why the rating is so low. My experience has been perfect in South Florida so far. GasBuddy is always accurate, works great on my android smartphone, links up well with turn by turn audible directions to the cheapest gas station. Therefore I rated this app 5 stars and I never do this unless it always makes my life easier to manage day to day.
GasBuddy has a rating of 1.3 stars from 373 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with GasBuddy most frequently mention customer service, bank account and credit card. GasBuddy ranks 2261st among Autos sites.
