I have been trying for 6 months, dozens of emails, calls won't go thru, just to get my card. Still have not received it. Keep getting auto-replies. Got a human response 1 time and they asked for my old address from 3 years ago. I refused. I have already earned over $30 that I guess I'll just let them keep it at this point.
Unfortunately, Gas Buddy is good for nothing more than finding the nearest gas station because prices are either out of date or faked by the station owners and managers. Great concept but total fail as there are no checks or balances to prevent fake news.
They say you can redeem your rewards for gift cards, but make it impossible to "confirm" the order of the gift card. Apple should remove this fraudulently company from the App Store. They just want to sell your information and pretend they're saving you money. Worthless, piece of crap company.
Used the old app for over 8 years and have close to 4 million points. The old app was great. Easy to use. The new app is full of garbage impossible to read easily. Their IT department must be a bunch of 13 year olds that don't even drive. I stopped posting right after the update last September. Too bad they made a god thing bad.
Or you'll be ripped off to a premium extent. I've used Gasbuddy for over 6 years to find cheap gas and that's fine. Then they offered Gasbuddy Premium with savings and roadside assistance. The first time I needed roadside assistance I was told I didn't have a roadside assistance plan and that I could buy one for $149. There is no phone number to talk with anyone at Gasbuddy. Emails are returned after 2 weeks with no answers, only "can we help you further?" I have contacted my attorney to demand remuneration.
Not only are their prices inaccurate but I signed up for their GasBuddy card, and it's a waste of steps and time. It sounds helpful enough, you use the app to activate your 3-5 cent discount, you use your GB card and it links directly to your bank account… only thing is that "discount" never gets applied. I thought it was user error but I tried it 3 separate times at 3 separate gas stations and nothing activated. I thought maybe the billed amount would be less on my bank statement but never received a discount. Better off using a points back credit card.
I tried calling their customer service department, might as well not count on that, it's non-existent.
Wow... Where can I start... Another no-Service Company. Lost my card... April 2021. Tried to get a new one for three months and 8 days. The only way you can talk to someone is to go through a matrix of automated call prompts. There are 9 of them... after begging them to do business with them and getting no help, I finally chose the prompt to cancel card. Guess what. When you do that, they hook you up to a know nothing, work from home powerless person who reads from the same script and tells you what is wrong the same as the bots... but guess what again. It's not wrong. All the stuff they tell you you didn't do, you did. They don't listen to you they just keep reading from the script telling you you are wrong. Aggravation. Cancelled my card today, breathed a sigh of relief and made a vow to stop doing business with companies that don't provide service. Next after this, cancel my connections with walmart... No cashiers... another slap in the face.
I have no Faith in this version, Aside from new look which always takes adjusting to, home page is not user friendly whatsoever. Changing the location of $price and last updated price from right to left is only good if your left-handed as I have to lift/move my right finger out of the way to see the $price and how long ago... Also, don't have the option to put favorites in order. Im not liking this to say the least. Old versions rules! At least keep the pros of old version with some if any pros on new version and lose the G. D. CONS.
I use the web version, not the smartphone app. It's been awhile since I used gasbuddy.com so this came as a big surprise. Okay, what's wrong here, let me count the ways:
1) I'm looking for a local map that lets me examine my area and see all the local stations at a glance. For some reason the map icon isn't where it used to be, next to each station. Once i found the new location, I found that no matter what kind of gas I selected, it only displayed prices for regular.
2) Each time I follow a link to a new page, it forgets that I'm looking for diesel. It defaults to regular; should be able to save that data.
3) When I ask for the lowest local prices, I get some higher prices before the lowest one. In other words, not correctly sorted.
4) Huge load of ads keeps the display moving. As soon as I kill one, another takes its place.
This used to be a very useful site, but now it just seems to aspire to being a host for clickbait.
I've been a gasbuddy member for 9 years and it is going downhill quickly. Prices are often inaccurate, mostly due to cheaters wanting to raise their "top spotter" rank. Ads are taking over the site, to the point that you are actually awarded for watching extra ads. This site was great a few years ago, but now it has lost its purpose. It isn't about finding the best prices anymore, it is now about squeezing in as many ads as possible and posting inaccurate prices so you can see your user name at the top. Rather sad actually.
Prices seem to never be the same as what's posted on the app. Pumped 23 gallons at. 5 cents back per gallon and I got. 47 back. And the price At the station was. 32 more than what the app said. It would of been way cheaper if I had Gone to Sams club. App seems to be a waste of time and prices not accurate.
Gas Buddy's original user interface had quite good human engineering, but the new user interface is so bad that it would cause the programmers to be fired immediately from any of the leading computer firms I worked for.
Not reliable. Some of the people post wrong information while sitting home to get gas buddy free rewards. Actual prices at the locations are always different. Gas stations change correct prices but these toppers on the list reporting gas prices somehow reflect wrong and always higher prices which is detrimental to businesses because they lose customers. We own a gas station. Whenever we change prices, someone changes it back to the same old price. And even review the business without even visiting the store probably.
Thought it was OK at first and got. 05 cents off per gallon. Then it dropped to. 03. Sent e-mail asking for a explanation. Got a reply asking if I still had the problem. I got there number right there. No telephone number to call.
Got double billed once. Took weeks to get reimbursed. They don't care about their customers period. Don't deal with them. Get a cash back credit card.
After a long road trip across the Mid-West all of a sudden fraudulent transactions from the Chicago area started showing up on GasBuddy. I called them and alerted them to the situation listing the three transactions that were in dispute. Unfortunately one had already gone through to my bank but the other two were suspended pending fraud review and I was told that the one that went through would be credited after review. Did not hear anything from GasBuddy until the two suspended transactions showed up in my mailbox again. When I called them I was told that these were not considered fraudulent and therefore I had to pay them. GasBuddy could not say why that decision was made or transfer me to their fraud unit. The CS agent said he would have someone contact me. That never happened. Now I am out almost $200. Kinda ruined any savings ever obtained.
I would give them 0 if that were an option. I signed up in April, 2018. It is Aug 4 today, and I still have not received my card. Meanwhile they have had my banking information all this time. I have made repeated attempts to get a card. Every attempt I make, I just get the same generic email stating that my card will arrive in 7 to 10 business days. I'm done.
So how am I going to sell these idiots went and took a perfectly good app that I used all the time, and totally destroyed it by placing ads that you cannot get rid of over the map. The ads take up over a third of the map space, you can't see the prices for the gas. There are no prices posted at all on the home page anymore. Just an ad also without a price for whichever gas station seems to have paid the most for the advertising. We are deleting it from our phones.
If ever there was an example of switch and bait, Gas Buddy is a great example. I have yet to pay what their app says (usually 5-10 cents higher) and the so-called deals of an extra 17 cents per gallon were only 2 cents per gallon. Such liars! They need to be honest or get buried.
No matter how many times you call, you're in an endless loop of automated prompts. There seems to be no way to bypass and speak with an agent apparently. I've made several attempts to use the card and it never goes through. My issue could probably be easily resolved if I had the opportunity to speak with a live person instead of listening to a useless recording.
I had an issue with a charge, so I contacted Customer Service. They do not call back, they send canned emails that go around in circles. I have filed a complaint with my state's consumer board. Don't download the app and get their card, it is not worth it.
Answer: Nobody I know has ever won. I have been a member over 9 years and I've never won. I entered 103,000 points, 103 tickets, all at once the day after St. Patrick's Day and I didn't win. So the short answer is someone must be winning these things, but you probably have better odds with a lottery scratcher. I also find it strange that often times the winners are brand new to the website with low point totals and often stop using the website after they win, kinda strange.
Answer: I see lots of people here reporting issues using GB, but my wife and I have had nothing but good luck using it all up and down the east cost. No false charges, not wrong prices, etc. we try and faithfully confirm or correct any prices off, but that rarely happens and is only a couple cents here and there when it does. Happy user here! YMMV
Answer: I just used it for the first time and I guess I didn't read enough of the fine print. I was expecting to see the price drop at the pump, but instead I needed up paying full retail price at the pump and I guess the savings is supposed to come off the back end when it hits my bank. Not sure, but I can tell you this, that was my first and last time using the card. I would rather see my savings immediately at the pump than have to wait to hopefully see them show up in my bank account. Ill just continue to use my loyalty cards. I hope this helps!
Answer: I cannot currently imagine as to why the rating is so low. My experience has been perfect in South Florida so far. GasBuddy is always accurate, works great on my android smartphone, links up well with turn by turn audible directions to the cheapest gas station. Therefore I rated this app 5 stars and I never do this unless it always makes my life easier to manage day to day.
GasBuddy has a rating of 1.3 stars from 373 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with GasBuddy most frequently mention customer service, bank account and credit card. GasBuddy ranks 2261st among Autos sites.
