I ordered a $2000 cabinet. I was told it was in stock and yet it took 6 wks to receive it. Then it came in defective. Base wasn't level and doors weren't level. I was told to fill out a claim form, and wait 15 days. It was not damaged in shipping, it's just defective. It's been 30 days and still they have not replaced the unit or come up with any resolution other than for me to hire someone to fix the unit and France and son will reimburse me. Would NOT recommend France and son. Customer service is sorely lacking and if your piece is defective or broken, they will not resolve the issue. I am disputing with my credit card company at this point. Ridiculous.
I received a chipped table, and was promptly offered a choice of replacement or discount. Customer service was satisfyingly responsive.
In March I ordered a chandelier from France and Son and they sent the wrong one. After multiple attempts to get this resolved and get the correct one I just gave up. All I wanted was to return the one they had sent me (by the way not the one I ordered), and now they tell me I have to pay $600 shipping fee to return. Now I am dealing with FedEx freight trying hard to get this huge chandelier picked up and I will take the financial hit. However I am on a mission to let folks know they won't talk to you on the phone, only email from a different representative every time, and never once a person with a resolution. I am in customer service and never write negative reviews, ever, however I am beyond frustrated that I am paying for their mistake.
I ordered products from Modloft on this website because they gave me a discount. It was for a dining room set. I paid for everything back on November 2020. After a lot of back and forth I received the table in March 2021 and it was damaged! They had to return it only to tell me that I had to wait for another month to get a new one. We're in June and I still don't have chairs. The customer service is extremely rude and they never know where anything is nor do they care. I would've rather pay full price than going 7 months without chairs in my dining room. Terrible!
The France and Som team went above and beyond for me. I got a great deal, my chairs came in time, and my sales rep, Brad, was super helpful the entire time.
I'm having a hard time believing that this is supposed to be a legitimate business? We ordered a $1500 chair from these people. As per instructions on the website, I contacted a customer support representative who sent me a quote via email, which I paid. Several weeks later the chair arrives with a crack that runs throughout it. So I contact the company via the claims form on their website the day of delivery, and the guy that responds is not only incredibly rude and short, but also tells me "tough luck", I didn't buy added shipping instance. Are you for real? Why offer shipping for a $1500 chair with no insurance whatsoever? Why send me a quote to pay and not make me aware of this at all, and then blame me? I responded that I paid for this via his associate's quote and THEN (ca 5 days after delivery, after the weekend) he sends me another form that hinges on questions such as "are you completing this form within three days of receiving your item".?
Why is there a second form? Why am I getting it days later when it's apparently time sensitive? Why did the claims guy completely ignore the fact that no enhanced shipping option was offered to me (and I wasn't informed that they don't bare minimum insure their "high end items").
I'm not sure I've ever received customer service this bad. What a joke of an experience.
I moved into a new home and purchased some furniture from F&S. Still too upset to say their full name. After several months of delays, and repeated promises of delivery (including representations that my furniture was out for delivery that same day!) the company ended up just canceling my order, without explanation. F&S sold me furniture it just never had in stock and waited several months to alert me, by unilaterally canceling my order after waiting all day for delivery. If you regularly play the lottery, this may be a great store for you.
What a lovely store. I'm so happy I found it when shopping in the Chelsea area. They have such cute furniture and amazing art.
France and Son has great customer service employees who will help with any questions you may have. Their products are also in great condition, unique, and fairly priced. I recommend shopping here, I was very happy with my experience.
France and son is by far one of the best retailers your can purchase furniture from online. They have a huge variety of product and offer some incredible services (like next-day delivery to NYC on certain products).
I purchased a Killian Floor Lamp from France & Son, and I received the lighting without the ring base and screw because it was damaged during shipping. After contacting customer service, I got the replacement right away and now I enjoy reading with the lamp!
This company is truly amazing. I've never worked with such caring, and genuine sales/ customer service representatives with any other company I've bought from.
Throughout the entire process, from start to finish the team is accessible, knowledgeable and very attentive and responsive. A lot of companies lack those qualities which makes this experience much for enjoyable.
I'll be back when I re-do my other living spaces!
Had a great experience at france and son. All items arrived in a timely fashion and in perfect condition as hoped. Very satisfied with my purchase!
I ordered a lounge chair from the website and I love it. No hassle, fast shipping, quality seems legit.
DO NOT SHOP HERE. I placed an order online for a pendant light at the tune of $428 + $40 in shipping in handling. When the item arrived, I opened it to find that the brass was too yellow. No big deal since the reason I purchased from this site was that they accepted returns.
What they don't tell you is how incredibly corrupt the return process is. They told me I could pay $195 (!) for them to create and send a shipping label OR $97.50 to create my own shipping label and send it. They say the high fees are due to the cost it took them to ship it to me... WHICH MAKES NO SENSE GIVEN I PAID $40 FOR SHIPPING ALREADY. In addition, there is no way that a small pendant light that weighs less than 5lbs and arrived in a medium sized box can cost that much, especially since they ship domestically from NY (I live in Washington).
To me, this feels like they are trying to squeeze money from customers who need to return items. SHAME ON YOU France & Son, especially during a time where people are struggling. I will never shop here again and will encourage all of my friends (many who are part of the design community) to do the same.
Terrible, terrible quality. Non-existent customer service. If you have to make a return, you will pay THEM for the option. Horrendous. Cheap, poor quality. Lamps fall apart.
France and Son's policies are clear and transparent that return costs are the responsibility of the customer, and we do not hide this fact. We link to it on every product page in addition to requiring customers to read it before purchase. Our products are sourced from reliable manufacturers, and they are often priced comparatively better than other products at similar quality. We stand by our products and their quality.
I purchased a $1030. 00 mid-century table from F&S in September. I attempted to get eta on delivery and I was told it was on schedule and was leaving a warehouse soon and I'd get a notice. It's now been almost a month and no communication from F&S. Today I called to speak with a live person, Alexis who told me that my item was out of stock when I purchased it and they should get it around Nov? I said Nov? Alexis responded that it's October now so not much longer if a wait. Like I'm smart enough to be able to afford a $1000 table but I'm not smart enough to know it's the month of October. Very snarky and immature responses from customer service and no one else to speak to. Didn't apologize or anything. I was appalled.
I will never purchase an item from this store again. Be very careful buying as they're selling items they don't even really have and they don't seem to care that their customers are not satisfied. Requesting a manager to call me and update me. Total unprofessional company.
I bought the modern hay chair and absolutely love it! The staff was super nice and helpful, which made this a super quick and easy purchase. If you need the perfect chair that you will never want to move from, this is it! You definitely won't regret buying this chair, especially from such a well known and managed store. All around, great service.
I ordered 2 of these from France and Son to put into the two opposite corners in my living room. Let me just say, they are ABSOLUTELY PERFECT. The customer service at France and Son was so helpful, they even went out of there way to follow up with me after the purchase. The packaging and logistics were perfect. Everything arrived on time, they notified me when it shipped out, just so great! I was even offered a discount. They even let me send them a picture afterwards - this allowed me to stay in touch with the sales representatives and now they are open to sending me quotes with coupons! They even check the stock levels for you right on the spot! This company is amazing and I can not wait to re-furnish my whole home by France and Son.
I bought this barstool at France and Son and can't get over how great they are! They're so comfortable and look great in my kitchen. I could not find barstools with arm handles anywhere and this could not have been a better find! And they rotate which is a a huge plus. Got these chairs for super cheap and the customer service was so helpful. Could not be happier with the services France & Son has provided me :) Can't wait to go back for more great finds like this!
Answer: While some of our designs are inspired by originals its hard to say subjectively how they sit compared to the older designs. Some are very close, and some are altered to contemporary standards.

We apologize for the defective unit. Based on the time that it took to get you your product we thought the resolution of covering the costs of a repair was fair. The doors we misaligned, and the hinges can be fixed easily with a screwdriver, so that was both an economical and the fastest solution. After you declined that option we ended up refunding you for the order. We understand that the time that the process can take can be an annoyance, and we're sorry that our quality control didn't prevent the issue the begin with. We hope that our refund was enough to make things right.
