I would like to say that I have been a subscriber on a number of platforms with Motley over the years and have invested quite a lot of money based on their recommendations. Now I find one of these memberships is up for renewal and I've been offered various prices, the best of which is $119.00 (heavily discounted by 70%, I'm told). The problem is that I have an email from Motley dated June 2019 stating the following:

"On 2021-06-26 your subscription will renew for 2 years at the current renewal rate of $149.00, and at the same rate every 2 years after that."

When I pointed this out I was told that their policies had changed and I was not entitled to this price.
I feel it comes down to a matter of honouring a contract and to say that I am most disappointed in their stance is putting it mildly.
I have now lost all respect for them and will not be renewing any platform as it becomes due for renewal.
Just as a matter of interest I have analysed all of the stocks in this portfolio and the result is that only 50% are in a profit situation and in today's market this sucks.

There isn't a financial publisher, The Motley Fool included, that can promise that a recommended stock will not encounter market fluctuations. Investments are inherently a risk, and the market will fluctuate. When we recommend a stock in any subscription or strategy, we are doing so with the intention of holding that stock for 5 years, minimum. As long-term investors, we recognize that stock prices will fluctuate. That being said, we won’t always recommend a sell just because the stock price drops. We prefer to hold stocks in companies that we are confident in for the long term.

I subscribed and canceled before 30 days and lost a bit, I realized I done better on my own with a little effort. You can do better by doing a bit of research everyday and keeping up with financial news on TV, you tube and google. Sad part is they pull you in with a small membership fee and only give you obvious choices and then they want you to upscale everyday with better options which you question yr-self WTF. Then you feel like a fool. Sometimes I think may be I jumped the gun quitting them, but when I circle back and check their recommendations I realize I made the right move.

Thank you for your feedback. It sounds like you may be new to our services - it's important to keep in mind our Foolish investing philosophy. It's our belief that a diverse portfolio of at least 25 stocks, paired with a long-term investing outlook of at least 5 years, is the best way to counteract a fluctuating market.

In regards to the promotional emails you're receiving: there is no singular investing strategy which fits the needs, preferences, and a reasonable fee ratio of all investors. Our many services are not upgrades of each other – they simply follow different strategies and have different resulting risk profiles.

Since publishers like The Motley Fool are prohibited from personalized recommendations, we offer all of our services to members who have subscribed to receive promotions in the hope of finding a better fit for some. False advertising
May 18, 2021

After seeing an ad, I decided to sign up. I paid $100 (a day's wage for me) all I've got so far is a few recommendations for stocks I can't afford and SEVERAL EMAILS PER DAY telling me to sign up for some other service that promises to do exactly what was originally promised, but for $2000. That's a month's wage for me. If the recommended stock was really going to make so much money, I'm sure they've invested in it and could afford to let their secret out for a little less than that. And if I had 2000 to throw away I certainly would not be giving it to these people.

IF YOU WANT AN INBOX FULL OF JUNK MAIL, THESE PEOPLE CAN DO THAT FOR YOU IN A HEARTBEAT

People complain about the Fool's marketing overload. That's not the real problem with these guys. The real problem is they have TERRIBLE recommendations. I've lost thousands on stocks recommended by these idiots. These numbers should tell you all you need to know:

APPN? Down $15,800 (I just saw another "buy it" article on the fool today. Great advice.)
LMND? Down $11,900
SKLZ? Down $4,100

Morons. But they ARE good at marketing, and at suckering people for $. Unfortunately, I include myself in that group. Beware.

Excellent advice Easy to Understand and Use
March 28, 2021

This service has been the #1 way I've built wealth for my family! The advice /recommendations are excellent, it's easy to understand and use. I've made more gains each year following their recommendation then I make at my full time job! I've taken their monthly recommendations and invest what I can for a long term view 5 years or more. My winning stocks have outsized the few losers in a big way. This takes the worry and angst out of market ups and downs. I used to use individual investment brokers at big companies who charged me high fees and the results were ok. The Motley Fool services teach you so much. I really didn't know much about investing when I started more than 6 years ago. With their easy to understand explanations I learned so much and enjoy finding out about companies that are looking to do great things and grow their business. Best investment advice I've ever received. I'm a Fool for life and have shared this with my friends.

I joined Motley Fool in February. I am an inexperienced investor, I was doing pretty good in the market just sticking with sticking with "safe" companies and investing when the overall market was down. I was ready to take on some additional risk and hopefully see some larger gains. I took there recommendations and invested in 9 companies they recommended. All but one is down. I have an average loss of 12.09% on the nine stocks. I was not expecting miracles but expected a lot more than this.
Big mistake on my part.

I've used Motely Fool for more than 15 years. The experience in terms of learning and profits have exceeded anything that i could have imagined. I started with the Stock Advisor service and kept buying into other Services. Recently, i've renewed my membership in the highest level service (Motely Fool One) for the third time with no hesitation -- the service gives me the information, tools, and confidence to take charge of my own investments.

Pump and Dumpers...
March 22, 2021

So buy this stock and pay us $100 is what is in the "news letter". Who do you think buys the stock first? Every look up a stock on Yahoo and see a bunch of stories by these guys? Why are the stories either very negative or overly positive? Read the disclaimers, it depends on if they own the stock... not very fair if they are giving you what looks like a "news" article. I been burnt by taking their advice and would like everybody to understand who is making money here.

Paid $1300 plus tax for the premium service. First badge of recommended stocks are down considerably after just three weeks. Seven out of nine are down, 5 are down more than 20% each. One is already down 40% (which will require a 60% gain from the current price to get even). The remaining two stocks gained just a little bit. What a mistake! The Motley Fool can verify my result by comparing the day the first badge of recommended stocks on 2/9/2021 and the closing price at the end of today (3/2/2021).

February 20, 2021

Having worked in financial services for 25 years I feel like I can attest to how much rubbish is spouted by financial advisors. Yes, some are good, but most are simply selling mutual funds with no expertise other than sales skills. I learned more about good long term, life changing investing and wealth management in the first year of a subscription than I did in the entire time I spent on Wall Street.

I signed up for Motley Fool and paid for some of the premier services (SA and Rule Breakers) - I'm pretty disappointed with the content. I'm fine if they recommend over-hyped companies / momentum names, but the analysis is very weak. I'm looking for some fundamental and technical analysis - numbers, exhibits, trends, margins, financials. What I get is a few paragraphs on high level trends. Perhaps the in-depth analysis is part of higher tier subscription which is the next complaint.

The constant up-selling, click bait to sign up for the next level service is super annoying. I already spent $300 / year on this...

Strong Pass.

Great

Ok, here's what MF does well: I love their transparency and down to earth strategies. I love that they make clear recommendations and can communicate in both a statistical and everyday manner. I got excellent customer service from them.

What I would like more of: I would love to see average annual returns included in the statistics of growth since inception percentages. I feel that the growth since inception model can be a bit misleading and difficult to figure out. Secondly, I'd love if they had a section on ESG, especially environmental, stocks.

Overall I think they are a great team that I trust, with good communication and strategy.

We subscribed to their annual plan and paid about 200 USD. I believed they would be a trusted, reliable, respectful site. They kept sending emails to upgrade and in one such occasion I opened an email and clicked on a button to 'learn more' (no additional info was provided for me to understand what I was getting myself into) and the next moment I found my credit card billed 1200 USD. I was so shocked to find they fraudulently did an enormous unauthorised transaction without providing me any details. I was also surprised to learn they saved my credit card details without my knowledge. We immediately lodged a complaint at our bank and had to go through an enormous hassle to cancel our credit card. Please dont sign up with them if you're careful about not losing a lot of money by their scam emails. So disgraceful!

The Motley Fool Stock Advisor, Rule Breakers and Marijuana Masters, the subscriptions that I have, all provide good information on stocks and at very fair price. Their website is also a treasure cove of information particularly the historical articles and information. Also, the CAPS section is very informative. My only regret is that I haven't acted on several recommendations. Overall, I'm very pleased with the service. They have a strong Marketing program but all you need to do is opt out of the emails and they stop. I've also found their customer service fair and responsive. FYI, JelloMan

They suck unless you have big money to get all of there constant upselling. Do your own research. Everything is available you just have to look for it on Google. Motley fool is joke. Only lure you in with a small membership fee and only give you obvious choices that for the investor that is just starting out is a waste of money. And the only thing you will get out of it is the feeling of disappointment. That's it. There customer service sucks too. Everything about them sucks to be honest.

By the time i get the stock tip it is so oversold and ran up on price the direction it has to go is down. Of course, if it was me i would putting millions into a stock that i was about to release and let these people that i am charging a fee run the price for my benefit

During the past 5 years Motley Fool has provided me with information upon which I have made investment decisions. My portfolio has increased in value by 6x. Their advice to not sell as the market was tanking in March 2020 was exactly the right strategy and is the foundation of their long term investing horizon. Motley Fool is significantly better than any private banking service and less expensive = best value for the money! Finally, I wish I had started investing with Motley Fool earlier.
