Nothing special about me. I'm in my 70's, retired, having worked the last 32 years in the same printing company where I was the purchasing officer. Travelled extensively. Lived in South Africa for 3 years and the Caribbean for 5 years. Since then until Covid hit my passion was cruising around the world.

How I Can Help

If you're thinking of getting into the sharemarket Superhero is a good company to use as your broker. Their fee is a flat $5.00 per share with a minimum investment of $100.00. THere is no messy paperwork for you to file as everything is kept online with them. Deposit transfers can be done within a few minutes using Osko by Bpay. All you need is a PayID or BSB and account number. There is no charge for purchasing US shares but you must transfer some of your AU deposit into US currency before attempting to buy a US share.
Give them a try and you won't be disappointed. Only use money you can afford to tie up though in these troubled times.
Good investing...

Tip for consumers:
If you've not invested before, purchasing EFT's is a great way to start.

I would like to say that I have been a subscriber on a number of platforms with Motley over the years and have invested quite a lot of money based on their recommendations. Now I find one of these memberships is up for renewal and I've been offered various prices, the best of which is $119.00 (heavily discounted by 70%, I'm told). The problem is that I have an email from Motley dated June 2019 stating the following:

"On 2021-06-26 your subscription will renew for 2 years at the current renewal rate of $149.00, and at the same rate every 2 years after that."

When I pointed this out I was told that their policies had changed and I was not entitled to this price.
I feel it comes down to a matter of honouring a contract and to say that I am most disappointed in their stance is putting it mildly.
I have now lost all respect for them and will not be renewing any platform as it becomes due for renewal.
Just as a matter of interest I have analysed all of the stocks in this portfolio and the result is that only 50% are in a profit situation and in today's market this sucks.

There isn't a financial publisher, The Motley Fool included, that can promise that a recommended stock will not encounter market fluctuations. Investments are inherently a risk, and the market will fluctuate. When we recommend a stock in any subscription or strategy, we are doing so with the intention of holding that stock for 5 years, minimum. As long-term investors, we recognize that stock prices will fluctuate. That being said, we won’t always recommend a sell just because the stock price drops. We prefer to hold stocks in companies that we are confident in for the long term.
