I was a bit nervous about booking with faredepot at first but I had absolutely no problems with the company. I flew to Thailand and back with their tickets and had no troubles. Would recommend.
I really wish I'd read the reviews about Fare Depot before I booked with them. I have always booked through a site and have never had a problem if I wanted to change of cancel the flight directly with the airline. American Airlines is very tight lipped about this company and refuses any help with touching my reservation at all. It's very suspicious and disconcerting. In order to cancel I have to pay $350 which isn't that big of a deal although in the past I was able to just get a voucher for the value of my flight and or $300 fee if I wanted to change the dates of the international flight directly with the airline. 490$ to change the flight with Fare Depot. I'm actually glad and maybe it happened for a reason that I'm cancelling cause after reading these reviews, I'd very very worried as to wether or not is get stuck. I'm also feeling very unsafe since in order to cancel I've got to fax a picture of the front and back of my CC, Passport, and DL. I just don't want my identity stolen from this and don't know what to do since I do want some of my money back!

Fraudulent company, made a booking using cheapflights.co.uk choosing fare depot.com I've had problem after problem firstly the booking numbers were incorrect for the flight company luckily I've had great help from the flight ppl to find the ticket, made booking on 16th June, money taken from account on 27th and the same amount is coming out again I've reported fraud my account is suspended because they can see its unauthorised transactions they have almost emptied my bank account PLEASE I BEG PEOPLE DONT USE THIS COMPANY THEY NEED STOPPING IM REPORTING THIS TO ALL RELEVANT PEOPLE

I have booked a ticket with them-problems all the way-if you call-they are almost too tired to answer your questions-i have 3 booking ref codes for the same flight-they don't have a clue as how to help you-all they do is give you the toll free nr to call-they also can't speak English properly-they can't even spell-WILL NEVER BOOK WITH THEM AGAIN-I still don't have answers about my flight to Italy-will now have to call Alitalia to find out about my flight-this is ridiculous!

The worst ever! They tell you that your Reservation is confirmed but the next day, they send you an email asking for more details about you credit card and off course at the end they ask you for more money. The worse part is that you already gave them all your personal information. BEAWARE THIS IS SCAM
Cette compagnie est un cauchemar. J ai acheter 3 billet pour aller au Panama pour un environ un total de 1850. 00. J ai du finalement annuler pour des raisons médicales qui M empêche de quitter le pays. J avais pris une assurance privée pour le voyage et ils M ont demandé de contacter faredepot pour annuler mon voyage et d avoir une confirmation de cette fameuse annulation. J.ai donc contacter faredepot pour leurs demander le document. Ils M ont avisé que je devrais payer 1050 $ us pour annuler et de signer un document qui va faire un prélèvement sur ma carte de crédit avec une mention que je n'ai aucun recours pour annuler le document une fois signer et envoyer.
Mes assurances en reviennent pas, non seulement je perds mon achat initial mais en plus il faudrais que je paie 1050 $ pour annuler?

Total cost was 830, I was charged 860. They said they mailed me a check. HAHA, nope they stole my 30 bucks and there isn't anything I can do about it. Report them to BBB!

They cancelled my tickets for 3100 dollars.
They dont pick up phones at all. Have to call visa maybe they will return me a money.
I had to contact these scammers due to a problem with my ticket and they basically don't speak English. Then they say they'll call me back but only at my home number in North America which is useless since my ticket was for international travel and I'm obviously not home.
My flight was cancelled by the airlines who agreed to give a refund on the whole ticket but Faredepot still hasn't given me my money back! They owe me $4644 and are refusing to pay me back. Their excuse is that the airlines hasn't agreed to pay them back which a complete lie. I didn't use any part of my ticket and I don't have my money back yet. When I call them they don't answer as they know my number. If I call from a different number they answer because they don't know that it's me. Unacceptable customer service – I've called them about 30 times to resolve this issue. The company is a fraud because they steal your money. I will continue to report them until I get my money back! Please save your hard earned money and don't use this company.
I learnt from the Airline that my ticket got cancelled by FareDepot without a reason. I have yet to be officially informed by them... Do not be scammed about the lower prices, this company will only cause problems. First it started with a coupon code for $50 that was not working and I was provided with a new one. Then, I noticed I was charged twice for the same reservation. Lastly, while checking layover options with the airline I got told my ticket was cancelled by faredepot and they did not even leave a reason or send me a message about it. AVOID!
So they have this clever and extremely dishonest practice: When you book, they will say your reservation is confirmed but immediately you receive an email saying you have to go through a security check. The security check is: they charge a small amount to your credit card and you tell them the amount so they are sure it is your credi card, seems fair no? NO because in the time it takes for the charge to be processed, they raise the price of your ticket!
And they are not transparent about this "security" process before you book so it is apparently done for the sole purpose of making you pay more than what you agreed to.
When it happened to me they initially bumped my ticket from 900 to 1200 dollars! (in 2 days)
So of course i checked the price online and the same flight on their own website was now 974, so I told them that and refused to pay the 1200. Hilariously they now could offer 1050 dollars just 5 minutes later! After I told them AGAIN that I could see at the same second the price was 974 they finally offered me 975...
I am incredibly shocked by those practices. It is the most dishonest process I have ever been through and should be illegal if it is not already.
I rarely do negative reviews but felt in this case people deserve to know how poor of a company faredepot is. Like many others on this thread, I had my flight unexpectedly cancelled. They posted an amount to my credit card for the security process on the 19th, I did not hit my credit card until the 22nd and I then immediately completed their security process. On the 23rd my flight was still cancelled. The worst part was they had already charged my card for the full amount of the flight as well! The customer service reps were very unhelpful and gave me lots of contradictory information (re-qouting the fare $60 more that what I could see online etc). I would advise everyone to AVOID using this company and tell all their family/friends as well.

To all who book their flights online, beware not to book your flights if you are directed this website called "Faredepot.com".
They post very lucrative prices and when you put in your credit card information they immediately send you a confirmation ticket with Status showing Confirmed with the Confirmation number.
After few days you will get an email saying the your ticket is cancelled and with no valid reason.
It seems to be a scam as now they have your credit card information and you can be a victim of a credit card fraud.
Just wasted to share this with everyone. Please share it with all your friends to avoid such a fraud websites.
They changed so many times my itinerary until the very day of my trip. They said the airlines cancelled the flights so they had to redo the schedule which by the way had either stupid huge time between flights or no time at all making the connection imposible (according to them I would be in Montreal and Miami at the same time). I called so many times to customer service and they didn´t solve anything. Finally I had to talk directly to the airlines.
Never again!
UPDATE I have since spoken with a supervisor who was very eager to take advise and rectify the lack of that transparency that I had perceived and improve my overall experience with the company. In the end the total cancellation fees are $250 from the airline plus $50 processing fee per person. I am now aware of all the charges, processing time and have since received e proper invoice and receipt in writing.
I recommended that they improve the transparency of their processing time and charges by including a easy to access written disclosure online. They could do well in the future by:
1) Gaining trust of their customers by high quality training of customer representatives that includes clear and uniform guidance on how to communicate clearly, professionally and courteously while being fully transparent. There should be no perceived confusion or hostility about fees because it creates deep mistrust.
2) Train the staff on how to better communicate in both written form and over the phone the critical information about processing time and fees both charged by airlines and by Faredepot.
3) Improve the Faredepot written forms: Create a standardized professional layout and use spell check and grammar check please. This will improve your image tremendously.
I do hope the company continues to do better for their customers. Deservedly, the business can do well in the future.
Previously I wrote a review about how faredepot tricked me to pay a few hundreds more for the flight tickets etc. now I'm writing again cuz i want to warm you AGAIN NOT to deal with this company! Here is why: luckily I got in the flight and flew to my holiday destination after all that trouble with FD, but one day during my trip I got an email saying my return flights schedule got changed. Within the same email they provided me a new schedule with a different destination(? Hello, I'm flying home, but not to a different city), so I tried to contact them back and of course after a long wait with no response and no concrete answers, I menage to get the problem solved by myself with the help of the airline companies. (I called 2 continents, 2 airlines, 7 agents for 3days). As for today, after almost 3wks of waiting I still haven't heard from FD who had asked me to be patient for them to solve the rescheduling issue. And I also confirmed with airline companies that they had never got the requests from the faredepot regarding my rescheduling issue as I was told on the phone! So... hope this will prevent you to get into the flight ticket nightmare with Faredepot!

Answer: Don't think you can select your seat through Fare Depot. You have to work directly with the airline for that.
