So to those who have seen my previous review, this is what happened after. Fandango replied to my BBB review and stated that they were not going to give me a refund, even though my request made logical sense. Instead they told me they would issue me credit that would never expire. So I tried to redeem that credit but got an era message. After contacting them again I was told that there was a hold on my account that had to be addressed by corporate. I was told my account was flagged for fraud. So corporate in a nutshell told the representative to tell me that they weren't going to issue me my credit nor my refund because I filed a refund claim with my financial institution whom did not give me a refund. I even merged my financial institution on a call with a representative as proof that what they were saying was untrue. This particular representative at Fandango sympathize with me and saw the logic in what I was saying, but assured me after explaining to corporate. They would take the hold off of my account to use the credit that would never "expire". Once again I have been ripped off by Fandango. In reality they locked my account for filling a BBB report on them. Fandango is a petty and manipulative money hungry company. In my humble experience with proof, please avoid this company. They don't deserve business. So instead of honoring there word of my credit that doesn't expire, since they refused to refund me they also took away my credit and told me they were closing my account with them. Which is fine by me, I just wanted to get my $50 worth of money they screwed me over for.

*** I can support everything I'm saying with proof.**

I only gave one star because I can't go any lower. This is the first time I ever tried to use this app. I bought a ticket to see the new Mario movie. When I completed the order, I noticed it was for a theatre clear across the city 11 miles away instead of the one in my area. I canceled the order and reapplied using the credit, and this time I made sure to select the theatre in my area. Despite this, it gave me the same one 11 miles away, so I decided to go there instead. I got there with just a few minutes to spare, but parking was so bad, I sat in a line in a parking building for 20 minutes before giving up. I immediately tried to get a refund or exchange, but the link kept redirecting me to me to a bogus website that asked for a user name and password. Anytime I clicked on the forgot password link, it would claim to have sent an e-mail or reset it, but it never did.
I spent the next two days trying to refund my ticket or at least get a credit to see another movie. It claimed to have sent an e-mail with a credit, but I never got it, and when I tried to buy another ticket, no credit came up. Also, it set it up for the same movie theatre even though I selected the one in my area again. Clearly I didn't go through with the purchase. I finally found contact info through google and sent an e-mail. They told me to call instead, and gave a phone number to call. This one is different than the one I actually found on google and actually worked. I had tried calling a number earlier, and the number was no good.
The lady on the phone said their policy was clear, and that they gave no refunds or exchanges after the movie showing. I explained that I didn't want to go to that particular movie theater and that I tried to refund it as soon as I saw I was going to miss it. She just doubled down and said it was their policy. Really!? If it was clearly the policy, then why did Fandango have me freakin' call someone instead of just telling me through an e-mail. That was a total waste of time!
This is the first time I ever tried to use this service, and I just lost $18. I eventually went to the theater in my area, and bought a new ticket there just to see the movie. Stay away from this service!

Unfair Refund Policy
January 23, 2016

Fandango is owned by NBCUniversal, in The United States. It was previously owned by Comcast, which merged the business with NBCUniversal.

I purchased tickets this week for a show but mistakenly chose a Dallas location instead of Houston, where I live. I tried to get a refund 1 about 1 hour before the show, but was told by the chat clerk that there were no refunds for tickets purchased within 2 hours before the show. I told them that there was NO OBVIOUS OR CONSPICUOUS NOTICE of this policy on their website - as required by the consumer protection laws - and that I thought that this was a violation of applicable consumer protection laws such as the Texas Deceptive Trade Practices Act (TDPA); I threatened to file a claim under TDPA and various other consumer protection laws. They still did not refund my money, probably because they thought that I would "let go" of the $17 charge.
I would like to got forward with my claim against them in Court and I would like to hear about your experience; maybe everyone can get a refund eventually.
Please email your description to me at *******@gmail.com.

I won a voucher in a contest from my local radio station to see "A Star is Born." The radio station staff told me I had to pick up and use the voucher by Friday, November 9,2018. I did pick up the voucher several days early and I attempted to redeem it for tickets in the evening of Friday, November 9,2018. The Fandango system rejected the redemption, stating that the code had expired. A call to customer service revealed that in their computer system, the code was set to expire at something like 1:00pm ET on November 9,2018. Nowhere on the voucher does it state a time; it merely states the expiration date as 11/9/2018, which should mean it is valid through 11:59:59pm on November 9,2018. Several calls to customer service, each with around a 30-minute hold time, revealed they have had other calls about this. Instead of realizing they made a mistake and expeditiously rectifying it, they have stubbornly resisted providing redress. They have demanded a photo/scan of the voucher, even though they, by their own admission, have received many identical complaints. They shouldn't need a photo/scan since frivolous or duplicate claims are prevented by the fact that each voucher has a unique alphanumeric code and they already know there is a problem from the numerous complaints they have received.

When it took more than 48 hours for me to provide a photo/scan of the voucher, they automatically marked my issue as "solved," even though it obviously wasn't. Of course, they pocketed all the money Warner Brothers paid them for these promotional tickets and that they weaseled out of actually providing. Is it worth all this time and hassle over tickets whose value total, at most, $30? Probably not. I'm sure that's exactly what they're counting on. Multiply $30 by thousands of people and you have a lot of free money for services you didn't have to actually provide.

There is nothing to be gained and plenty of risk by using Fandango for regular ticket purchases: just go to the theater and buy them the old-fashioned way. From my experience, once Fandango has your (or someone else's money), they don't care about you.

Voucher states in two places that expiration date is "11/9/2018" but their computers were programmed for the code to expire in the early afternoon of this date, not at 11:59:59pm as it should have been programmed. They stubbornly refused to rectify the si

Think of all the money Fandango makes by not refunding money. At $15 a ticket, at all the different theaters, they can make millions.

Fandango requires you to ask for a refund before you see a movie. Yet, they don't provide a way to do this. I called them repeatedly, my son tried to contact them via the web, I asked at the front desk before the film started. There was no way to talk to an operator. The message kept stating that the movie was not being shown in the area indicated, even though I tried different zip codes to be able to find one that worked, including the zip code of the theater where I was seated while making the call.

I started at least an hour before the show. I had to wait until after the movie to contact them. They said that they don't give partial payments. Everyone would have had to ask for a refund. Well, they all saw the movie. It was just one person who didn't.

What happens to all this money? Does it all got to charity? Doubt it

Update:

I tried to send them a copy of a previous review. I attempted to attach it to their reply, i. E. I sent them a message regarding their refund policy, or lack thereof. They responded. They had specific guidelines for my reply. I followed the guidelines exactly, which wasn't easy and it didn't work. Do they deliberately set it up to fail? If they were a new company, I can see they'd have problems, but they should have worked out problems by now. Bottomline: They don't appear to want to communicate with their customers.

Here's the format in which I had to respond:

==> Please enter your reply below this line <===]

[===> Please enter your reply above this line <===]

This didn't work.

Like others here, I fell victim to Fandango's horrible user interface. From their home page, I typed my zip code into the proper field; at the next page, I chose my date — the coming Friday, four days away — and noted that it was properly highlighted; then I selected my preferred theater from the pull down menu. When my theater displayed on the page, I immediately proceeded to scroll down, choose the movie we wanted, and purchase two tickets. I was chatting with my husband about our respective work days as I was doing this (seemingly) simple transaction, and it wasn't until I received the confirmation email from Fandango approximately a minute later that I saw the date on the tickets was THAT VERY NIGHT, about an hour and a half from that time. I did what everyone else did: I tried to call Fandango and change the date or return the tickets. HA! All I did was waste over an hour of my time, and raise my blood pressure, and ended up with the same party line as all the rest of you: the one about how it was less than two hours to showtime, so I was out of luck. Tried to reach a supervisor, got a voicemail, left an angry message. I'll be calling my credit card company today to cancel the ENTIRE payment, including their service charge, because I believe Fandango to be engaging in deceptive practices. The flaw in the ticket purchase flow is either deliberate, or passively malicious: to default back to the current date when a user has already chosen their desired date, without ANY alert that this has been done, is just bad, bad, bad, and sneaky. Once you've chosen your town, your date, and then your theater, if that theater has not yet scheduled showings for that date... the system should indicate that, with something like "There are no showings scheduled at this time," just like you see when you are just trying to find movies in any other context besides the ticket purchase process. The main takeaway from this horrible experience is that I will never, EVER purchase tickets from Fandango again, and I'll make sure to make my opinion heard very loudly on social media and among my own large group of friends. And I agree with the guy on the first page of reviews who thinks that a class-action suit against them is called for!

Fandango Scam
February 9, 2018

LOOK OUT PEOPLE
I was given a gift card for helping my daughter with a problem in the kitchen. I felt so honored to get this from her. I believe Fandango may do this purposely what I'm about to tell you. There would be no reason to list theaters that Fandango gift cards can't be used at. Case and point. Our favorite theater is only about 2 to 3 miles from our house. We looked at the movies through Fandango's web site on the back of the card. We drought up our theater and found the movie we wanted to see. I put the number in and it bought the tickets. We went down to the theater, bought popcorn and sodas. We jumped in line as I had the QR code on my cell phone. When they scanned the QR code it wouldn't work. Come to find out, Fandango automatically sent the tickets to one of the theaters they partner with. No window stating Fandango doesn't partner with or this theater doesn't except Fandango gift cards, NOTHING. The movie theater was in the next town and about 10 miles away. The movie was starting in 15 mins., so we missed the movie. When I went back home I called Fandango and had to wait 1 hour before someone came on the phone. I wasn't the only customer with Fandango problems. I explained what had happened and they said the movie had already showed so we will not give your money or credit to you. I took this to the next step, 10 days later I received an email saying they will not credit this transaction. Remember, no window came up to say we do not service this theater, NOTHING, it just automatically sent the theater to the nearest theater they partnered with. Why would Fandango show a theaters info if they do not service that theater?

This business is honestly horrible. I purchased tickets for a show in the wrong theater, when I called (20 minutes before show started) I was unable to get anyone. Despite waiting OVER 45 MINUTES ON HOLD. I went to the internet to see if anyone else had this issue and I found this site with all of these negative reviews telling me a refund was impossible. I called them the next morning as soon as the office opened. After waiting for 35 MINUTES a woman finally answered. She had a terrible attitude- you could tell she deals with angry customers every single day. She told me I could not possibly get a refund after the show started because the funds are transferred to the participating box office. No credit to my account, no apology, 0 effort. I asked to speak with her manager. Her response? "Shes just going to tell you exactly what I just did". I didn't like that. The manager was a piece of work, she was EXTREMELY rude from the get-go. Almost humored at the fact that she couldn't possibly issue me a refund. After she informed me that she could not refund me, I began reading the posts on this website to her, informing her of how low customer satisfaction is in her company and telling her Fandango will not be around much longer if they continue this scam. She told me that it is not her or her companies fault that their customers are not thorough enough to read their terms and conditions before conducting business with them.

I would love to sign a petition to bring this company down, I have a fire in my heart because of how disgusting these people are towards their customers. STAY FAR FAR AWAY!

P. S AMC will not be able to issue you a refund for your Fandango ticket (yes, obviously). But sometimes they will give you a complimentary ticket for your troubles, because even they know this company is horrible. I had 3 different workers at the theater warn me of their crap since then. They say they deal with it alllllll the time and it is a well known issue in their line of work.

I bought tickets to a movie and when the previews were done and the movie was started, the lights still hadn't gone down. The volume was also much lower than usual.
I asked at the front what was going on. They informed me that it was a special needs screening and that it should've said something about that when I bought the tickets. I went back in the theater and watched but it was definitely not the movie experience I paid for. It would have been more fun to watch the movie in my house.
I went home and looked up on the fandango app to see if it was noted anywhere that the Saturday 1030am screenings were special needs screenings and found that they weren't noted as such. Fandango had made a mistake and I deserved my money back. If they had made note of the type of screening it was, I would not have purchased tickets. Or to put it another way, I was not told that this was not a standard screening and when I purchased tickets, it was with the understanding that this would be a standard movie screening.
When I chatting with Fandango about getting a refund, they said that their refund policy says that they can't give refunds after the show time. I knew that was wrong because it was their mistake. They were the ones who falsely advertised this movie. And how would I know that it was a special needs screening before the showtime started if Fandango didn't make note of the fact that it was a special screening?!
I asked the chat person to escalate the case. 3 people eventually emailed me and each of them referred to their refund policy.
I understand policies, but in the case where the company is the one at fault, they need to make exceptions to the policy and take responsibility. I am never going to use Fandango again and will make it a personal mission to tell everyone I can about the horrible customer service they give.
I didn't like: Refusal to make an exception to refund policy.

Like many, I had a bad experience with Fandango. Bought tickets for the wrong days a guest, not with an account. I tried to call and cancel but the line was busy so I went on chat. The movie started in 35 minutes and I wound up waiting 30 minutes on chat! When I got thru the guy told me I had an account and to sign in instead of canceling my tickets! That of course wasted time and because of that, it was past time and I couldn't cancel my tickets. I called the next day and explained the situation to their cust. Service. She said she would have corp. review it and see if I could get a refund. I received and email and was told I would get a refund on my credit card. No refund appeared after 2 weeks. I emailed back as they asked me to do. Then they asked me to "replicate the issue and take a screenshot" huh?! I said no, they promised the refund, now process it. I got another email saying that a credit was processed to my fandango acct. I said I didn't want that, put it on my credit card as was promised. The response - "we understand your position... we are unable to grant your request. I understand you are upset because of a mistake in wording, but that does not change the outcome of the decision made by our corporate team." He ended the letter by saying "we endeavor to give our customers the best experience we can" nice one ;) I guess $28.50 is just too costly. Here is the IMPORTANT INFORMATION I want you to know.
Keep track of the dates and amount and communication with fandango if you can. Names too. Call visa and ask to get your money back. They will get it for you, especially in situations like this, that are preposterous. Don't let them keep your money, it is not theirs to keep! Side note, I am also reporting them to the Better Business Bureau. It is not the money, it is the principle.

CEO should be fired
June 22, 2022

Very simple Really: I bought movie tickets for Jurassic World Dominion 3D for 6/23/22 for a 6:15pm showing. My page refreshed on its own and reverted me to the date of 6/22/22 "my current date" which I had no idea it happened until l received an e-mail asking me how I liked the movie. I then proceeded to pull up my tickets and the dates were not the dates I chose, instead they were for the same day I was currently in. I read on the email that you cannot refund after to show time... I thought this can't be correct surly they can see the tickets were not scanned. SO I decided to call... which finding there number was not the easiest, or getting them to answer there phone. None the less after over a full hour I got a call back and I explained what happened. The customer service Associate read to me what he was supposed to... which was basically your out of luck. So I then tired LOGIC which did not work at all... I posed the question if you did not use something and it was the wrong item you should be able to get your money back... the person actually agreed with me but said they could not nor did they have the ability to fix it. So after our conversation and after the fact I started reading the reviews and found this is how they make a living by scamming people. Maybe they accidently chose the wrong theater, the wrong movie, the wrong time, and yes the wrong day... so sad for your bad luck because FANDANGO.COM doesn't care. There business plan is to actually Make it to hard and time consuming to get your money back so the client just moves on and forgets it. Its the principle of the matter, the principle is... if this happened to you would you be happy, the simple answer is no. That being you can deduct that this company nether cares or appreciates there customers. I am curious Though on the BBB site that there rated A+ yet they have a one star on the very same site? Confirmation # A*******090 3 Adult Tickets Total Price $47.61 My Time doing this... Pricless
