I'm impressed. I've used the free trial once whilst in Lanzarote, again I paid £10.99 to watch in Majorca. It's easy to download and follow instructions. Just remember to cancel if you dont want to get charged monthly if you only use for a short time. Customer service staff are knowledgable and helpful. My only gripe this time around is I cannot connect to the 9Now app in Australia with the VPN as i'm in the UK. I'm going to get a refund. I don't think they'll be an issue.
I have been an Expressvpn customer for many years, previously the service has been excellent but recently they have gone bad. Website are failing to load, timing out and speeds have dropped significantly. I don't know if the business has been bought by idiots or if they just can't get good staff but it is definitely not worth paying for anymore.

Beware they treat a repeat customer badly,
Do not do auto pay, Just make a new account if needed by yourself every year, And the customer service was NO help!
I'm just going to try a new VPN...
5 months ago I signed in to remove my subscription and even my account since I did not need their service anymore. I did not think about them until I realized I was charged 12.50 USD every month for almost half a year. I called and asked for a refund and was told that they did not received my request. The reality behind the story is that they use a vicious auto-renew system that charges you even if you delete your account. It looks like barely legal if not more. Pay attention to this trick and choose more ethic people since their VPN service is just average compare to other providers.
You would think, like with most companies, you could go to your subscription settings, hit cancel and refund.
But nooooooo, you have to open the chat window and they try to talk you out of it. And the lag time for their replies is excruciating. I should have just done a chargeback. It would have been simpler. Not everyone would know what the little icon on the bottom right is.
I paid my subscription and have used it for several months. But recently I found out that someone had encrypted my account and had requested for a sign-in link or password reset. And mind you this was from someone or computers or devices I don't own. There was one who was an "iPhone user" who requested to delete my account. And I chatted with customer service immediately, saying I was not the person who requested my own account to be deleted and I had no reason to make such a request because I use it for work. So then one csr said oh we've looked into this and it should be good. Days later my account was deleted. And I've talked to several CSR guys to look into it and have sent them screenshots as proof that I kept receiving such requests and proof of payment that I am the owner of the account and not the "person" who requested to delete my account. They would give your hopes high but nothing will done...nothing has been done. They didn't even process my refund because they said that they only processed the deletion of the account upon request. And I kept explaining that I was not the person who requested it...I demanded a refund because technically I have not used my subscription for this month because of what happened. But until now they have not processed it. They do poorly in resolving this kind of problem. I mean you won't feel safe anymore because they'll just believe anybody who has encrypted your account to delete it or to do something without further asking if it's the real owner or checking the IP address or something who requested it. Besides that, my upload and download were slow while using ExpressVPN. It kept saying that there's an update it but when you update it it's still the same.

I got Express VPN to evade a (very stupid/insane) Reddit IP ban that I did not deserve. Express VPN did absolutely nothing, it didn't hide my IP address at all. Went to my account page to cancel at least twice, but it would keep appearing in my bank statement. They've made it purposefully deceptive when you go to cancel to make it look like you have, when there's actually apparently 2-3 more steps. Garbage product, scam company, stay away.
The only reason I got ExpressVPN was because I was looking for a VPN and saw an ad from Ben Shapiro. Terrible decision. My computer has froze twice since starting my subscription a week and a half ago. In the first picture, you can see that it completely shut down and left this error message. Don't think Apple had anything to do with it. Hoping to get my money back soon.

Ranz spent 20 minutes in chat trying to convince me that £5.42 a month over 12 months would mean a total payment of £81 which would be taken as $99.
The site is misleading its customers on the price as basic maths makes 12 times £5.42 equals £65.04 which would be approx $81

Customer service is 10/10 and will always try to resolve issues including offering an extension should connectivity problems be down to them. The downside to using this vpn is the amount of updates. Many updates sometimes only a few days since the last one. In fairness their software does sometimes provide a notice when it is launched but its still an annoyance having to update so frequently. Notice to users in China - the vpn there has had a lot of connectivity problems in the last 9 months which is still ongoing so, while they do try to fix it it is not 100% reliable for use there. The cost of using ExpressVPN is very good and because of their commitment to offering good service it is well worth the outlay. 6 month deal at a time is the best option in my opinion in case something else comes along that is as good or better.
Works the fastest and is by far the safest way to surf anonymously online. They have worldwide, extensive coverage that consists of over 3000 servers based in 90 locations so connectivity speed is never an issue. Their service also comes with top-notch encryption for enhanced security and they are as trustworthy as they come.
They claimed the VPN works in China. After using it for 3 weeks. It stopped working. No internet connection at all. Offered free extended subscription that nobody wants if it's not working at all. Be aware.
It's sad because Express VPN used to be terrific, but they just haven't kept up with technology. Whenever I attempt to employ the service to hide my IP address, it's often detected and many websites block the service and suddenly I do not have access to my accounts unless I turn Express VPN off. And try getting help with a connectivity problem... good luck! This is their favorite phrase: "We seem to have exhausted all possible resolutions at the moment; try again at a later time." So save your money! Either look for another more responsive VPN with better customer service, or just let it go. Express VPN is not worth the price.

Junk service. Advertisements misleading and lies. I dont know who they paid off. Probably Google, but advertises faster than Nord. It's not. Much slower. Less compatable. Worse customer service. Basically it's not at all what they claim. Buy anything else first. They spend all their money on publicity and not their service. Don't buy this ever. Claim 580 mbs. Yeah right. Lucky to find a server ever over 20 mbs. Junk. All marketing but no follow through.
Tip for consumers:
The truth of how crappy the product really is. How about honest advertisement to start.

Tried Express VPN over Nord because of all the internet hype. That's all it was. Hype.
Doesn't work well in China. I renewed but the account says expired. Works only on phone. I cannot extend to other devices. Chat help didn't help in any meaningful way. I DO NOT recommend this service. Note pic says July 2024, so they know I renewed.
Tip for consumers:
Use another company.

Netflix and Hulu blocked me because i had a VPN. Express VPN cancelled my renewal but would not refund the 8 months i still had paid for. It took forever to cancel and there is no one you can call. I needed a VPN because my internet provider was throttling my internet speed because i stream instead of cable.l i kept my cache emptied on all apps and used smart locations. I even matched my zip but still couldn't get firestick apps to stream. If streaming sources wont stream while i have a VPN then how is it helpful? The shady reactions you get when you try to cancel the subscription isn't a plus either. Will not do business with them again.

Doesn't work for Australian content abroad! Slower than Nord and Surf Shark! Blocks Hotspot at times. Constantly having to turn off to receive LINE messages etc...

Did not want renewal. Unchecked "auto-renewal" numerous times. EVPN rechecked. Got through on my CC.
The link I clicked said "free trial" but they still charged me. I had a hard time getting my money back.
Tip for consumers:
The trial wasn’t free, even though it said that it was.

I contacted the fraudulent company and they said too late pal we got you no refund. I have contacted the Department of Justice and every other company or agency I can to complain about this BS. I suggest you do so also. Expect a class action suit in the future against these frauds.

They might provide good service but if you want to stop using then they make it very difficult to leave. You have to go on the website to cancel but there is not option to cancel, just to stop auto renewal. So you select that and think you're done but then you get a thank you for renewing email and new charge when the service is supposed to be over. It's so frustrating and infuriating. They have no respect for your money and no customer service when it comes to subscription issues. You make a helpdesk ticket is what it amounts to which will be ignored. I know the internet says they are the best at what they do and that may be true but they are not the only ones, find a company that won't just take your money.

Went to their website to get a deal they were advertising. The promotion was 49% off of a 12 month subscription PLUS another 3 months for free. They showed the regular price as $12.95 and the discounted price as $6.67 (which is not 49% off). When I went to the payment form I saw in small, faded type that they will bill once for the 15 months at an average rate of $6.67 for each of the 15 months. So the "3 Free Months" are not free at all. You don't see a total cost until you get to this payment form, and it equates to more than $6.67/mo for 12 months. I'm betting they are counting on people not noticing the higher price before they hit the buy button. I will not be purchasing from them.
Misleading advertisement. Not working at all in China and they are not charging monthly, you need to buy at least 6 months package with no cancel option.
I signed up for their service while I was on a monthlong trip through South America and I was having trouble accessing all the various SFTP sites I needed for work. The service worked well for me for the most part. However, like so many others on here, I experienced massive amounts of trouble trying to cancel. There is no clear way to simply "cancel." The only option you have is to turn off automatic renewal payments. However, as another reviewer said, their site is deliberately misleading. You have to select the option several times to finally get the cancellation to go through, but there are not prompts telling you you have to do that or that your initial click of the option was not enough. It's straight up fraud. I chatted with support who offered zero help. They offered to refund one month and then said they will "escalate" my claim for further refunds. I'm 100% sure that the escalation will lead to nothing, so have challenged the charges with the credit card company. I have never been so angry with a company in all my life. 100% do not recommend. Would love to see someone bring a class action lawsuit against them for their fraudulent billing practices.
I had ExpressVPN previously and tried NordVPN due to a promotion through my credit card. NordVPN was absolutely awful. ExpressVPN is so much easier and reliable to use. I switched back and will happily pay more to use ExpressVPN.
