Beware they treat a repeat customer badly,
Do not do auto pay, Just make a new account if needed by yourself every year, And the customer service was NO help!
I'm just going to try a new VPN...
I can just contact them once by chat or email and I get an instant response
And every problem I had was resolved
Even though last time I could not be helped at once - they kept sending me emails as a follow up and in 1 day my problem was solved
You never feel they do not care about you
That is UNUSUAL CUSTOMER SERVICE
Thank you Express VPN
So GLAD I chose YOU
Marit
EVPN after 6. 5. 2 no longer support Mac OSX using McAfee products - EVPN changed their traffic handling after v6. 5. 2 and now their product's outgoing traffic is blocked by McAfee's firewall. EVPN's support team told me they weren't even interested in bugging the incompatible version numbers to investigate root-cause and determine a work-around for their customers. So, if you use McAfee on your Mac, find another VPN service. That's what I'll be doing after waiting since September for a fix.
Purchased a month to see if it would work for me, it didn't so I immediately logged onto the website (not the app) and clicked the ‘Turn off Automatic Renewal' on Your Account. I clicked it twice, then a message came up that said to make sure I updated my payment information if I wanted to continue my subscription. THIS is where you need to click the green ‘Turn off the automatic renewal' a THIRD time. If you don't do this, you are still not canceling your automatic subscription and it is still active.
This VPN does not work in China, one of the main regions where it is required. The VPN own customer care tells you that it is blocked by Great fire wall in China but they tell you this only after you have bought and paid for the VPN. Do not use.
Since late 2019, ExpressVPN has not only started to slow but also started to disconnect then reconnect randomly but frequently throughout the day. The worst performance I would get is between 5pm to midnight EST. I'd connect usually to their North American Eastern sites in both Canada and the US. Lately, in the last week the best latency I could get was 24 milliseconds where my local ISP clocks in at 3 milliseconds using speedtest.net with servers in those same locations. I'm using a fiber optic gigabit line as well but ExpressVPN speeds are half or less even in their best of times.
I paid my subscription and have used it for several months. But recently I found out that someone had encrypted my account and had requested for a sign-in link or password reset. And mind you this was from someone or computers or devices I don't own. There was one who was an "iPhone user" who requested to delete my account. And I chatted with customer service immediately, saying I was not the person who requested my own account to be deleted and I had no reason to make such a request because I use it for work. So then one csr said oh we've looked into this and it should be good. Days later my account was deleted. And I've talked to several CSR guys to look into it and have sent them screenshots as proof that I kept receiving such requests and proof of payment that I am the owner of the account and not the "person" who requested to delete my account. They would give your hopes high but nothing will done...nothing has been done. They didn't even process my refund because they said that they only processed the deletion of the account upon request. And I kept explaining that I was not the person who requested it...I demanded a refund because technically I have not used my subscription for this month because of what happened. But until now they have not processed it. They do poorly in resolving this kind of problem. I mean you won't feel safe anymore because they'll just believe anybody who has encrypted your account to delete it or to do something without further asking if it's the real owner or checking the IP address or something who requested it. Besides that, my upload and download were slow while using ExpressVPN. It kept saying that there's an update it but when you update it it's still the same.
In the beginning was ok, but after two months, the speed is super slow I have to change server every day and chat with support to know which server work with netflix. Very disappointed
I have had expressVPN for 1yr now! (ONLY because I signed up for the 1 yr plan) I was mostly using ONLY the DNS servers to stream, but when that quit working I was forced to purchase a new router (which they recommended, and advertised on their website) so I could use their VPN service... my speeds went down EXTREMELY LOW! Sometimes by as much as a 90% loss! I constantly argue and fight back and forth with them, only to get BS excuses in return! I do NOT feel they should be legally allowed to advertise as they do! STAY AWAY!
I have had such a bad experience with ExpressVPN, it has hardly been useable since the first day I signed up/downloaded it. It slowed down everything to the point of no-use, it wouldn't let me send media messages outside of my home, and hardly protected anything. I then see on their website they recommend certain routers so I fork over more money for a router, and that doesn't even make a difference except for in my wallet. I contact about this 30 day money back guarantee and instead they tell me I need to troubleshoot instead of cancelling and then guess what you're past the 30 days now and you don't get your money back. I also turned off auto-renewal at the same time and I log on a month later to vent my frustration with the whole thing and what do I see? Auto-renewal back on! What a scam! They really hide the bad reviews well when you google it, and its such a shame. And their customer service at that is a joke, any company that doesn't have a phone # stay away, I swear it just means that they will offer no accountability when things go wrong because you're just some text on a screen and not a real person. Heartless!
I signed up for their service while I was on a monthlong trip through South America and I was having trouble accessing all the various SFTP sites I needed for work. The service worked well for me for the most part. However, like so many others on here, I experienced massive amounts of trouble trying to cancel. There is no clear way to simply "cancel." The only option you have is to turn off automatic renewal payments. However, as another reviewer said, their site is deliberately misleading. You have to select the option several times to finally get the cancellation to go through, but there are not prompts telling you you have to do that or that your initial click of the option was not enough. It's straight up fraud. I chatted with support who offered zero help. They offered to refund one month and then said they will "escalate" my claim for further refunds. I'm 100% sure that the escalation will lead to nothing, so have challenged the charges with the credit card company. I have never been so angry with a company in all my life. 100% do not recommend. Would love to see someone bring a class action lawsuit against them for their fraudulent billing practices.
Didn't know what a VPN was until someone referred this app to me. So glad I decided to give it a try because it's totally changed the way I think about privacy.
I signed up for a 7-day free trial. The service caused so many problems that I decided to cancel after 2 days. Then I noticed I had a month's charge pending on my credit card. So, I emailed "support" and received a response saying that I first had to cancel auto-renewal before the subscription could be cancelled. Why? I did that, and the onscreen notification said I did it properly. Then I received a follow-up email saying that I hadn't cancelled auto-renewal. Rubbish, but I did it again, and got a notification saying that my subscription was cancelled, but no mention in any of the several support emails about the billing charge for a "free trial." So, it looks like I have to dispute the charge. So far as I'm concerned this is a racket.
Eventually I received an email which says, "I'd like to let you know that we don't have a free trial." That is a blatant lie. After I emailed by screen shots promoting the free trial, the charge disappeared from my card. But I will be vigilant in looking for future charges to appear. (Unfortunately, the charge has returned and I'm disputing it.)
Unbelievably bad Service and use of my cc after a chat with their customer support where I told them the VPN didn't work in spain (couldn't see some dutch sites) and I only wanted to have the week free trial I was already charged for a month. NO REFUND so I told them to cancel and again, a month later charged again! Again talking to one of their employees and I was told I wanted to keep my subscription... what a lie! There are much better and trustworthy VPN providers but I stay far far away from EXPRESS VPN!
Went from 450 to 65. Are you kidding me? They don't tell you that you slow down more than a 80 y/o w/o the blue pills. Really. Test it and dump it. All VPN's slow you down 4 x.
I had ExpressVPN previously and tried NordVPN due to a promotion through my credit card. NordVPN was absolutely awful. ExpressVPN is so much easier and reliable to use. I switched back and will happily pay more to use ExpressVPN.
They continue charging you even if you cancel, need to get on a chat to manage to cancel it. If you hit cancel you will see the subscription is still ON!
Other than the fact that Express VPN prevented me from printing to my wireless connected HP Envy printer, and prevented me from sending emails from my Samsung Galaxy 7 cell phone, it was great. I spent nearly 2 hours with their online help, and they weren't any help. The benefit is less than the cost... in terms of AGGRIVATION.
Good VPN Service before but NOW ExpressVPN …Sucks
Was a good service before but NOW SUCKS. All of the servers in Australia are now blacklisted, so don't expect to BE ABLE to watch any Aussie online streaming services like free TV or paid TV services outside of Australia.
Not sure what other countries are like but possibly just as bad.
Cancelled my membership renewal today, BYE ExpressVPN..
I do not like to deal with companies that make it hard to cancel, try and find a cancel button. They hide it under turn off auto renew.
It tells me they do not stand by their product.
Answer: If you subscribe for ExpressVPN services they will bill you for their services not for Netflix subscription.
ExpressVPN has a rating of 2 stars from 151 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with ExpressVPN most frequently mention customer service, credit card and free trial. ExpressVPN ranks 92nd among Vpn sites.
