I reported an obvious scam from a seller in Turkey and my multiple reports were ignored. Two customer support representatives basically hung up on me, and my request to be transferred to a supervisor was answered with "a supervisor will email you", which was a lie. All they do is placate with canned replies. Nobody cares about the honest sellers, the crooks are not vetted and even when discovered and reported by buyers (who have no interest since they don't compete) nobody cares. Too bad, I used to love this company but it's going down the drain.
I am attaching the evidence of my order, that was never delivered (refunded by Etsy, not the seller), and 2 screenshots of the same item being advertised by 2 sellers, both from Turkey (like my original order, from yet a third seller from Turkey). Etsy doesn't even care about their own money, let alone ours.
I've used Etsy several times successfully. Great response and products.
However, I recently Didn't receive an order, (USPS) stated delivered and well I didn't receive it.
Run around, contacted seller, USPS, the seller was very responsive but passed me to Etsy.
Etsy support was good via chat (if you can find that feature), first time just terminated me when I mentioned issue. 2 further chats I got some attention and follow up. Its frustrating as can understand issue is really sellers responsibility.
Overall, I've change my review and given 4 stars.
I wanted to look for gifts for coworkers for Christmas. I typed in the search bar "gifts for coworkers" and was SHOCKED by how many items came up that included the "F word" or the words "$#*!" or "$#*!". That is not at all cute or funny or appealing to me as a consumer. Etsy's help department could not offer any way to filter out profanity, forcing me to view it if I wanted to peruse their offerings. I get it that Etsy is a collection of small shops, but there should be some universal filters to avoid profanity. Just really ridiculous. They lost a long time customer.
Customer Service is crappy- it took them 3 days to get back to me regarding a product I never received. Even then, my money was never refunded.
Bad experience, but they have some pretty nice products. I guess it depends on the seller you buy from as well.
I love buying and selling on etsy, but have a problem with my account and can not get a resolve. It's just been a game of waiting and guessing. Disappointed in their review system - it does not accurately portray a shops history - it only considers the past 12 months. Very misleading and so disheartened by the lack of information they can give as to if an issue is currently being looked into.
Let's be real: etsy is no longer a real curated marketplace. Lots of foreign mass produced stuff is now on there. But if you're careful and read some reviews you'll find some gems. There are skilled artisans making furniture and other cool things on there out of glass, metal, wood, and more. One of the best places to look for a unique gift idea if you plan ahead and realize you're not usually going to get 2 day shipping like on Big retailers.
Esty supports scamming companies labcrystal Poland is one example selling crystal that dissolve in water for $130 blue dye leaking everywhere they are garbage
Just doing a GOOGLE search, an unrelated product from an ETSY seller pops up selling hate-filled, anti-women products. I went to ETSY and used their own website to search the "C" word. Not 1 or 2 but numerous sellers are selling on ETSY all kinds of two-bit cheap crap all printed on them the "C" word; anything from candles to T-shirts, to greeting cards, these sellers promote misogyny as though it's a joke, it's funny and means nothing.
No different than the meaning of the "N" word to black people, or pro-Hitler verbage to Jewish people, the "C" word is specifically meant by men to promote hatred and resentment towards females. It is a coarse, vulgar, vile word that men use to demean and put down women.
Right now in the US, one whole political party and it's leaders are promoting, & openly using the "C" word against their female opponents. They make sure the public knows they want to incite violence as they publicly made their voices heard on all major media. Now ETSY OWNERS have made it clear that allowing these misogynistic products on their website is not only good with them, but want to profit off of the spreading of hatred and resentment of women.
While no sellers I ever would buy from on ETSY are part of this disgusting selling practice, I have no other choice of online marketplace to go to for my jewelry-making hobby and ETSY's website makes me want to vomit.
📢 Attention, Etsy Community and Support Team!
My Etsy shop, NecklaceAura, was permanently banned right at the beginning of my journey with no explanation provided. To make matters worse, I was scammed as a seller on my very first day on the Etsy platform (Issue ID: #*******). As a passionate and dedicated creator, I am deeply disappointed and seeking clarity on this decision.
I kindly ask Etsy to review my case, unblock my store, and provide a transparent explanation. It is unfair to penalize a small business without a clear reason. My small business dream depends on it!

I was a seller at ETSY company with a store named "ExquisiteCreatbyGaye". In February 2024, ETSY closed my seller account. There is ******* TL in my seller account, that is approximately 500 dollars. Even though I e-mailed the company's public relations department many times, they have never responded me. They have not sent my money for 4 months. I filed some claims on different platforms and waiting for payment.
I was EXTREMELY skeptical when my daughter asked to order from this site. I figured the dress wasn't that expensive and I told her she would have to wear it no matter what. Well... that dressed arrived and blew me away! It was a very high quality garment. Absolutely stunning. We chose not to do the alterations as my daughter is a competitive swimmer with a tough body to fit, so I cannot speak to that part. I can tell you that her dress was a show stopper!
Etsy is full of fraud and scammers. Their contradictory policies enabled a particular scam but they don't care to fix the problem. They won't refund my money, even though I follower their explicit policy, and they refuse to even make any changes to stop the same scam from continuing. Not to mention the site now flooded with cheap cr*p from overseas. Buyer beware. Avoid.
They cost my family more than $600,000 per year on the unsubstantiated hearsay libel of Mike Rothschild, a hit piece specialist who isn't a good enough writer to get a job as an actual journalist, and is know for always being wrong.
He wrote a fact-free, defamatory hatchet job, emailed it to Etsy's amateur PR staff, who predictably panicked even though less than 59 other people would even read the piece. They removed all my listings, but left up those of my competitors. No reason is ever given since no rules are ever broken.
Selling on numerous platforms for over 10 years and of course there are times when something pops up and you need help! Well, eBay is great, Bonanza is great, Mercari really good, Poshmark really good, BUT Etsy is nothing but BOTS, you can never find the chat button and answers are the same automated messages because they close in on keywords. Absolutely horrible! And some community members can be really degrading if you reach out, nice community!
Etsy closed my shop after I refused to accept an unwarranted $1200 charge back to my account. As this was all going down, I had evacuated to Savannah, Georgia due to a mandatory evacuation directive in anticipation of Hurricane Ian. Etsy closed my shop the day I returned home.
It is not easy to fold your tent, when you have thousands of items to liquidate. In fact, the task was too much for me and I ended up in the emergency room. Thanks Etsy! Keeping in mind your "Keep Commerce Human" motto, and all. After 6 months, still getting billed for over $1,000. Etsy will not honor my no return policy.
I ordered a digital document from one of the vendors and received it instantly. They accept PayPal payment which was very convenient for me. The budget template has been really helpful for me. As a student, I have been struggling managing my finances and identifying areas of waste, but am slowly getting that under control. Etsy allows vendors to list their products and also determine their prices. This includes digital items such as excel templates, word document templates, etc.
I have received the parcel which was paid €165 and there is no watch in it just bad quality leather bracelet i
See a photo. This is outrageous and shocking. I asked for a refund but them just close my case since delivery was marked as dispatched not even consider otherwise.
To the future customers, do not ever order something from this site.
I am not the only one they have done this crap too I was a loyal customer with Etsy since 2017 2023. I decided to be a seller I made about $100 in one year just starting to get business February 2024 they permanently banned my account and suspended it for no reason I've lost money. I was a five star review, everybody loved my products. I did not violate any of their policies and they basically stole money even though my account was suspended and permanently banned from making any other accounts. They still had my information and was still charging my card every month. Etsy is a huge scam. Don't waste your time or energy with them, there is no customer support. They don't care about you. They just want your money and they will steal your information and make other accounts to have people get scammed with. They need to be sued and shut down.
This business is unable to compete with Ebay as a seller. EBay fills the void by enabling merchants to sell globally. Even though Etsy describes itself as an international firm, everything about it looks so US-focused. They don't, in my opinion, do nearly enough to be regarded as an international business.
I am a long time seller on ETSY. The last year it has gone to crap. Unfortunately they do no vetting of shops and it has became a hub for counterfeit and infringing items. I have reported many shops, filed many DMCA's, yet ETSY continues to leave these shops up and running. Shops like this send junk to the customers while stealing from honest hard working artists and designers. Buyer beware. Do some research on the seller before purchasing goods. I added a photo of just a couple items that are using my art.
Answer: Check the reviews, and Google the seller. Also, are the reviews written in good english? Does it seem fake? Check pictures from the buyers.
Answer: I would have to say no, with LOTS of exceptions. In the past few years Etsy has allowed business to claim handmade if it meets certain criteria. I often see many items that claim to be handmade but I have seen them on Alibaba being sold in bulk. That being said I look very closely and have purchased some wonderfu items from great sellers. The biggest problem with Etsy is that they no longer protect customers from fraud (they say they are not liable) but in doing that lots and lots or resellers and counterfeit items have saturated Etsy' s marketplace. I would never buy anything "vintage" there. What I have seen you are getting thrift store rejects or modern fake. Buyer beware! Investigate all vendors carefully!
Answer: I am agree with Ramina. 90% is not hand made. All comes from Factories. When someone has over 8000's item don't you ask who made it. They are all over from Pakistan to turkey east to west up united state. Etsy is happy just to take your money and every 4 or 5 months closing one store to show off and if you have some money as a credit they take it too. No customer service, no respect no manor, they made policy just for FUN and they have FUN with our pocket. Stay far from them FAR FAR.
Answer: I agree with Steve J on this one. A lot of sellers on Etsy work from home in the evenings for extra money. Most of them are not big businesses with massive inventories so I would give them the benefit of the doubt. Give them a little more time and if they dont send it out then file a case with etsy
Answer: Business checking isn't necessary (the banks now charge a monthly fee for a small business checking). You can pretty much set up a regular checking account
Answer: I believe this depends on each seller. Etsy is simply a platform for sellers, and often does not have any direct involvement with orders short of processing the payment. Certain items cannot be returned for safety and hygiene reasons, and sellers can refuse to do anything other than exchange. Contacting Etsy may or may not change the results.
Answer: If you do, I would be cautious about ordering from international sellers, use a credit card in case you need to contest the charges, and do NOT expect ETSY do a thing if you get ripped off. They are useless and could care less once the sale is final.
Answer: I have bought a number of items through Etsy and with great success. I had only one negative experience and Etsy took are of that. I recommend Etsy wholeheartedly.
Answer: The best and quickest thing to do is to email the seller and let them know that you would like to return for a refund.
