This is a deceptive company. They are fraud, don't ever give them your credit card. They will abuse and put phantom charges. I have been charged without any approvals for unnecessary services.
I am going to move my WEB site to Square Space and take a loss of what I have already paid them, However, I will be filing complaint against eHost at my local civil court for complete refund of all charges. I don't like to do business with dishonest organization. This is definitely not a company you can trust.
Same as Tony D. I live in Uk was charged double arguing all night with them its 4.45 am so pissed off. They scam money and hide the truth. Seriously hope they refund me and I will happily pay for my domain name if not I am sure I will think of something better for a future domain.
This is clearly an internet fraud! All they do is to steal the first payment from you + refund is never possible. Plus the risk of stealing your credit card / personal info.
Ordered a domain from this web site. Once the payment and registration is done. I check from other domain checker, the domain name i have just BOUGHT. Is still available!.
When i logon to the admin console, i cannot do anything unless i have confirmed my account, which is to email them the photo copy of my personal ID and credit card...
I requested for an order cancellation + refund, but you should know. This will never happen.
Bought a 2 year package for £100 (50% discount) - then they hosted my website OK for six months - then they advise me that unless they host my domain name they won't host my website - so withdrew their service. Basically they stole £75 from me. Now refuse to engage on the subject and ignore my emails. If they were in the UK, I would be happy to spend the money to take them to county court, but since they are pretty much immune in the US, little I can do.
I am going to tell you step by step.
1: you buy a domain from ehost and you will be charge by Billing with your credit card.
2: Just Check the domain that you buy with another Hosting service. Such as godaddy.com, you will get that the domain is still available for sale.
3. you are not able to do anything in your cPanel. They said to send us the Scan copy of your credit card and Passport.
'' Only the Government and security agencies have this right to ask these documents ''
4. You will ask to cancel the subscription and money back.
This is not possible. They scam you...
Solution: godaddy.com, 000webs.com, webs.com, weebly.com are trusted. I work with them.
I think this is helpful for you. I don't want you to be victim.
Say good bye to ehost.com scammers.
Signed up using their website builder, after a few weeks I realised I needed to be on cpanel as it wasn't what I needed. I was told I needed to pay more money and buy a new domain name and then ask them to transfer my previous one and discard the new one. (obviously it's too much effort). So, I asked for my money back under the moneyback guarantee. Took MANY emails and only honoured it when I threatened them with legal action.
The website builder whilst limited is fantastic but if you need anything more complex look elsewhere, remember - you get what you pay for.
Customer support is absolutely the worse. I have spent more time on hold than talking to someone. When I went to cancel redundant add ons they actually cancelled two of my entire websites! I am fed up with eHost. I have been hung up on and have had help tickets created that have never been responded to. I've never spoken to an actual native english speaker. I have currently, as I write this, been on hold for 20 minutes. DONE.
£2.75 per month the website said. £100.05 was what came off my Paypal account. I sent an immediate e-mail to cancel. 3 days later I've still had no refund, no response and no sign of a domain name or an e-mail account. I've contacted Paypal for a refund but please don't touch this company with a barge pole.
Was doing fine and then my account was cancelled without my permission. They refunded me 79.20 and then wanted 191.68 to reinstate! Completely fraudulent invoices/billing with zero helpfulness through chat, email and phone. People barely speak english and are apparently trained to commit crimes against the public who have limited patience with the horrible support.
I started a website with ehost with the intention of moving my website from another company. The prices I was quoted were reasonable, so I went through with it, paying with Paypal. That's when the problems begin. If you pay with paypal, it takes several days for them to give you access to anything, because they want to wait until they have verified the money was paid. So, there customer service said they would suspend the paypal transaction, and I could pay with my credit card. So, I then paid with my Amex card. They could not transfer my domain for reasons unknown, and said to start a new domain and link my old domain. Turns out when you do that, you don't get an email account unless you pay an extra $5 per month per account. Fast forward 3 days later, and they have charged both paypal and my AMEX card. In the meantime, several emails to customer service for help with email accounts and other things were acknowledged, but the problems not dealt with. I have requested a full refund.
I ordered a 3 year plan to get a 50% discount. On submitting my payment by credit card, a window opened over the page stating the plan is for one month at 50% discount. The window only appeared for about 4 seconds and didn't give me any time to react. They then billed my card for one month ($6.99), and will now try to bill me next month at the regular monthly rate. No free domain name, and nothing mentioned about it in the welcome email. Fortunately my credit card is a prepaid one with no actual credit, so I am not stuck with them or having to argue with them. I will simply just abandon the account after the month is up and look elsewhere.
I generally register domains, pay for them and they are up in about 10 - 20mins. Its been days now and ehost still do not have my site registered. They must be doing it by pigeon Im going to get my money back.
Definitely dont recommend them
Purchased subscription on Ssptember 16,2015; cancelled on October 2. Still waiting for refund to be put back on card. At least one dozen different lies (refund date depends on my bank; funds already refunded; not sure what the problem was but refund has now been processed; ticket prepared but refund must be approved; unable to verify your identity, etc.) - every reason to hold on to $133.95.
I'll file a dispute with my credit card company and let them deal with that deception!
And it's no better than the first review...
I've long since left Ehost for their outstandingly terrible scam of a service. They use black hat SEO techniques to boost their visibility in search engines and seem like a reputable company with fake reviews. It's a trap! I went through the painful process of transferring domains away (which the only reason I signed up was for cheap domains), which ended up costing quite a lot to transfer to Godaddy and was one trick after the other with them. It's been well over a year and they're still harassing me with invoices, I owe them nothing. Had to cancel my credit card cause of them, they would not respond to cancelation requests. DO NOT give them your card and DO NOT be tempted to sign up with them. It's an absolute joke! I've worked with numerous Hosting companies and this is NOT even remotely close to descent.
First, when I signed up for the service, I was only trying to get the basic web hosting package. When i continued, it signed me up for 3 upgrades for an additional $29.95 each. Then, I contacted them to cancel all of the upgrades. That took a full day to occur. The design portion of the package was more complicated than I was led to believe so I submitted a request to cancel my service completely. It has been over 24 hours since my request and still they have not cancelled my service. I spoke with 3 different people who promised it would be done in a few hours. When this did not happen I called again. The fourth person told me it would take 24-72 hours. Why the sudden change? Just cancel my service and let me move on to one of your competitors who takes more pride in customer service than you do!
I signed up for eHost and registered a free domain. I tried to mange my site using cPlanel but it was stuck in an pending order state. After much time on the phone a support person revealed to me that it was bug that happens to about 1 and 200 people.
It has been over two weeks and I still have not gotten my money back and I cannot transfer my domain for another month and a half because I guess there is a rule that you have to wait 60 days before they will transfer it to another host
Scum. Were unable to get my site up. Period. After the 3rd call I bailed and went elsewhere. They still owe me a refund and refuse to pay. BEWARE. I would bet high that most of the reviews are phony. They blame the problems on the browser or other client issue to cover the fact they are incompetent. And then they stiff you and make you file complaints and card contests to get your money. They can keep mine, I'm going to let the world know what they really are.
SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!
Complete rippoff. Avoid this company like the plague! They are the very definition of bait and switch. They charged me even after I cancelled a one month subscription within ten days. Two weeks after cancellation they posted additional charges to my cc. They need to be shut down - this cannot be a legal business. They charged me a total of $45.00 for something I never used and had zero value. PS they have created countless websites loaded with bogus testimonials. Better Business Bureau here I come.
SCAM! SCAM! SCAM!
Awful! 1) Was not expecting to be charged full price but rather a monthly payment. No biggie but would have liked it to be disclosed 2) next I signed up for the 36 month term for $2.75 (50% off promo) however when my final receipt came, I was overcharged when I broke it down and it was only for 24 months. They also added a fee for SiteLock which I did not agree to. I cancelled my order completely. Beware! Not honest!
Do not use Ehost for a host to your website. They just lost mind and they only do 2 weeks of the website being active on their server before a backup is created.
I just lost my website! Not bloody good news! So, far I'm learning that they do not have technicians and supervisors who can do their jobs. Policy is to back up every 2 weeks. My site been active for 2 months. There is no backup.
Supervisor don't give call backs like promised.
There is no other methods to esculate but from the bottom and then you're put on hold for over an hour with no solution.
Answer: This people are professional scammers, they think they get away but some day the fraudulent and shady practices will come to light.
