Ehosts.com is a JOKE! They don't protect your information! I had been given the run around for hours, upon hours between waiting 80min on hold waiting for someone to just pick up, 60 min waiting to chat with a tech online, then spending another 70-80 minutes "chatting" with NO resolved issues, to then get a generic "Sorry you're out of luck email" to ANOTHER 20 minutes to still not have access to a Manager, or the problem solved. I am a STRONG believer of customer service. I'm also an ADVOCATE for receiving exactly what I pay for. My problem with them? I paid for Domain Privacy. I work in entertainment. Privacy is THE NUMBER ONE concern I have! I would fully EXPECT that when I ordered domain privacy in 2015 at the EXACT moment I ordered my domain and hosting, it would be set up. I would ALSO expect that with annual AUTO-RENEW for domain privacy (my HOSTING was paid for 3 YEARS mind you) that my information would STILL remain PRIVATE. But here I am- in 2017. And my information was ALL OVER WHOIS. How does that happen? Ordered, paid, prepaid, auto renew (with a current credit card, so it didnt "decline") How do I NOT get the service I have been paying for?
And THEN how is it possible, that it was CONFIRMED a "mistake" and was fixed "immediately" but you won't issue me a CREDIT for the services you didn't provide? I didnt ask for a refund. I asked to EXTEND my TWENTY DOLLAR service for the mistake EHOSTS ADMITTED TO. And was told "sorry, we don't issue credits" and sent the terms of service in an email.
Im sorry, but where does it say you can pay for a service, they fail to provide the service, and can get away with that? They offer refunds, credits, etc depending on the issue. Yet they want to treat me like I was asking for a million dollars.
WORST customer service EVER. I've spent HOURS getting the run around, apparently there are ZERO managers, supervisors, leads, or ANYONE with authority that works there.
SO BUYER BEWARE... DOMAIN PRIVACY IS NOT IMPORTANT TO THEM! BE PREPARED TO HAVE ALL YOUR PERSONAL INFORMATION OUT ON THE WEB REGARDLESS OF PAYING THEM TO ENSURE THAT DOESNT HAPPEN!
DO NOT TRUST EHOST! Terrible TERRIBLE experience - just trying to sign up for a premium plan - ask a couple of questions - three phone calls, 1 online chat - AND NOBODY CAN ANSWER ANYTHING! I tried desperately to contact them on a Saturday morning, calling the number on this website https://www.ehost.com/ *******076 for some very basic sales questions, trying to find out if I had to use Cpanel if I wanted an e commerce website or if I could use a ready made template. THE GUY HAD NO IDEA. HE COULD NOT HELP ME - kept putting me on hold to find out the answers, but still couldn't answer that. I then went on to the online chat feature - THAT PERSON ALSO HAD NO IDEA ABOUT THE MOST BASIC QUESTIONS! I tried again calling, reached someone in tech support/sales and he also had no idea! I tried calling again - the person I reached couldn't answer either.
I found another website for ehost.com, this one was https://vdeck.ehost.com/support/contact.bml which clearly has eHost.com on the top left hand side - CLEARLY belongs to them - this phone number was *******678 and THIS person also had NO idea how to answer the questions! WHen I wrote to ehost to complain, I explained that I'd only asked one of the agents for his name and location and I was told his name was Nigel, in the Philippines - then ehost.com tells me there is nobody in the Phillippines that works for them - they only work out of the USA! I sent them both websites and phone numbers - and they still deny this! I spoke to three people - I only asked one guy his name, Nigel, and asked hiim where he was - he was in the Phillippines - so how can eHost tell me this isn't them? When it clearly says eHost.com on both of these websites? The special offer I wanted for a basic ecommerce website was $2.79 per month for 3 years (it was dropped to $2.60 a month) - and the website says clearly that it includes ecommerce - yet when I emailed them to complain about the awful tech support or customer service, Steven (apparently the main person there) tells me no, it's over $10 a month! SO IT'S TOTALLY MISLEADING - I have no idea what's going on BUT I WOULD NOT TOUCH THEM WITH A BARGE POLE. Then they tell me vdeck.ehost.com is a different company from ehost.com - yet both websites clearly have, same font, same logo, top left hand side, eHost.com! Just go to google and type in "contact ehost" and you'll see for yourself! IT'S THE SAME COMPANY! If they can't answer the most basic questions, what would happen if I actually had some technical support problems? If they advertise $2.75 a month and then when I want to sign up they say it's over $10 a month - why on earth would anyone trust them? I'd be better off asking a rabbit in a zoo for help. DO NOT TRUST THEM!
I have never in my life felt more obligated to wright a review in my life!
EHost is a JOKE and let me list off a few reasons why.
Edit: Just reading this back now after typing it all, i feel the need to apologies for going on a long rant.
1) Okay lets start off with the light stuff, something a lot of hosts do, but its still a pet peeve of mine. "ALL THIS FOR $2.75 A MONTH... WHAT A DEAL". Then when you order, it suddenly jumps up to $6.99 / Month for not pre ordering 3 years upfront. Normally this would not be a sin, but eHost make you travel over 10 pages into the order and only tell you at the very last moment, EVEN AFTER GETTING CREDIT CARD INFORMATION!
2) You see that kind message in the footer that says "blah blah, We use cookies, Blah Blah"? If you are from some country's, UK defiantly being one of them then you will be used to seeing them on every website you visit. So used to seeing them that you don't even bother hitting "Hide" on them anymore... Well that "Kind Message" is hiding something, so close it. Before i go on, here is a link to a screenshot http://i.imgur.com/ajAHXWn.png (at the very bottom of the page). After you do click "Hide" you get to see a message "*Prices valid for initial term only and automatically renew at the regular rate. If you register a free domain with us and choose to cancel your account, you will be charged a $15 domain fee if you'd like to keep your domain. "
So basically, that $6.99 you paid, is only for the first month, after that it doubles! Don't bother looking at your emails, there is ZERO mention of it there!
3) This one adds onto the last "Hidden Message" but this time about there amazing offer of a free lifetime domain. If you do get it then you must pay them $15 if you want to leave (and of course you want to leave after being over charged at this point) and keep your shiny new. Com
4) This one is still undergoing, but the Live Chat guy couldn't help me and I'm currently awaiting a ticket response, What if you don't want to keep that domain, what if you just want to go, get your refund as you are still in your 45 day money back guarantee time limit. NOPE, even know there site CLEARLY (after hiding the cookie message) states "IF YOU'D LIKE TO KEEP YOUR DOMAIN" i was still told its a none negotiable fee, regardless of if you want to keep the domain or not.
5) This one is kinda funny, but is probably the worst sin of all... Everything on the site is in $dollars. So you should think your $6.99 host that doubles to $13.98 will cost you that much? NOPE, if you are like me and live in the UK you will be charged the same amount but in £pounds! So your $13.98 / month host just become £13.98 POUNDS + VAT (yes that's a grand total of $21.22 + VAT / Month) for something that started as $2.75. Proof from "my invoices" http://i.imgur.com/zRFmhq2.png (that £0.00 was added after there mess up creating my account, mentioned below)
Also, there "this takes 20 minuets" when setting up your account, yer that took 3 days, and had to contact support about it 3 times. Even know they had my first payment of £6.99 ($10.61) + 20% VAT.
Sorry for going on a rant, this truly is a first for me:(
AVOID AT ALL COSTS!, Im going to bed now, its 5:10AM and i have been fighting with them for 3 hours, im tired, goodnight.
EHost.com review
There are so many web hosting services available now, and I didn't take time to check them all out. Instead I have selected ehost.com, because I've seen them ranking high on some review pages. This is my contribution to stop anyone else from using their services.
I have purchased premium 3 year subscription plan on ehost.com and thought to myself – how great is this: They have s great discount, I'm going to save a lot of money and I'm going to have my domain within 1 hour (this is their claim on the website). But of course, it wasn't so easy.
After purchasing the ehost.com premium package the status on my domain remained "x" - failed. So I wrote them my first complain – expressing my concern that my domain is still not up after 6 hours. No answer. I wrote another complain the same day, still no answer for the next 3 days. After a while I go to their live chat support, where their employee reinsures me, he will issue my problem with system admin. I was happy with the way things turned, and foolishly hoped I will have my domain online in 1 day. Again, that didn't happen. My issue was addressed to the billing admin, instead of system admin, even though my domain was paid for already. I was back at the start, back to their live chat support, where their employee James H. Told me that the error is on their part and promised me (gave me his word) he will make sure that it is attended ASAP.
Guess what – this didn't happen in next 24 hours. So next day, I got in touch with their live chat support once again. I have had enough. I told them I am waiting already for 8 days to get my problem fixed, and demanded they resolve it within 1 hour (that's the claim they have on their website anyway). Their reply to this was: "You're issue is very complex and there are 3 people working on it. Because you have replied to your complained several ties, your issue was also pushed back, so we recommend you don't reply and wait for us to get back to you." And then the girl asked me if I have some other issues she could help me with? I didn't know if I should start crying, yelling or laughing. First of all – how complex could a domain registration be - the name was available, it doesn't use any special characters … So what is so complex about my issue? After reading a few other reviews (and I regret so much not reading them before I purchase with ehost.com), I see that they are in habit of automatically recharging, double charging or making other financial advantages of their users. So maybe the problem is that my credit card expires in March 2018 that is 6 months before they could automatically issue my subscription.
Well who knows … I just now that after numerous complaints I have made, they haven't even provide me with basic answer of what the problem is and how/when will they fix it.
It really saddens me – I work as a freelancer and I work so hard to get new business opportunities, and have to let go several of them, because I wasn't able to create & use e-mail on the domain I have purchased with them. I will not make the same mistake to trust them with my future again.
