We have been buying from EBTH since it was the original partners through the hell of the investment group and now back to the founders which has bright EBTH back into being a wonderful auction site one if not my all time favorite! Just wish they had a better shipping process or offered overnight if you want to pay for it! My only complaint is they have gifts that get stuck in shipping A LOT! And not knowing when your really going to get a present is never good also the bidding system if you have to people that bid the same amount they should do a private blind bid so who ever really wants to pay gets the item I have many where I ended up bidding the same dollar amount as someone else and they just give it to the other party which sucks. Other then that customer service is back on top and very helpful!
I had items to sell I knew had big value but I was nervous and perplexed about signing up with any service online. A friend recommended EBTH. I researched them and decided to contact them by email. I received a reply in less than 24 hours. I was so surprised to hear back that fast. Samantha, the rep was easy to talk to and very helpful explaining the process. Then she sent me an email outlining what she had told me. Nothing alarmed me and I never felt I might be scammed. Everything moved forward without a hitch. I got amazing amount for my items. I also thought the commission rate from EBTH was very fair. After my items sold, I got email telling me when I could expect my share of the sale. I then right on time got another email letting me know my check was on its way and an invoice of the sale and payment was attached. All very straight forward. I highly recommend EBTH and would use their services again in a heart beat!
I had to cancel my debit card and file a fraud charge with my bank costing me 30 dollars and 3 hours of bull $#*! and stress.
They had no permission to charge my account I have written documentation of this and I have been upset for three days. These people are con artists and there Customer service is terrible. They sell lots of fakes and commit fraud on a regular basis after the reviews I have read. File a claim with ripoff report it will destroy the company
EBTH is one of those start-ups with pretty big growing pains. But, they seem to be doing better now (mid 2018) than before thanks to the new CEO. No, I do NOT work at/for the company; I've just been watching it for the past 18 months. It is changing, and for the better. Give it some more time.
First experience went as it should. Still have not received second winning bid though my credit card has been billed. They list the transaction as still being processed. Third experience a nightmare! Had been following a jewelry item and sent a request for more information on the day it closed. Did not receive a reply so did not bid. The next morning I received an email telling me I had won the item for almost $400! I never placed a bid! My attempt to correct this resulted in a reply that their records show I placed the winning bid and I will be charged! I will dispute this charge with my credit card while trying to get some satisfaction from this company and then cancel that credit card so this can't happen to me again.
This was my 2nd purchase. The first one took forever to ship, but I gave them a second chance - now I am paying a huge shipping cost - very bad. Will not use this company again. My $19 item is $24 to ship! Watch out!
This is not the first time but it was definitely the last purchase from them. Be careful. Some of the appraisals are also false! I am still waiting on a refund since they (acc. To their own statement) do not find the item in their warehouse) - like I say, it was not the first time!
We are longtime fans of EBTH! Not only to buy many items from silver and turquoise jewelry to oil painting and furniture! We were lucky enough to live close to the DALLAS warehouse so it was great for getting the larger items.
When it was time to downsize and move out of state, we used used your skilled and excellent staff to help sell a lot of our things. It was a fantastic experience and I cannot recommend you highly enough!
We wish now you would open a Phoenix location!
Its a shame that the shipping costs are so outrageous. This would be a nice service however the cost of the shipping is so ridiculous it drives down the bids for the items in the auction creating a great loss for the clients selling their estate. I have reviewed hundreds of items and many times the shipping ends up being 10 times greater than the market value of the auction items. Its really not worth bidding due to the high shipping cost.
I was stuck and overwhelmed following my husband's death. My home was filled with items bequeathed to us by several family members. I was sure I would never get rid of these things, that my life would be stuck forever. That's when EBTH came to the rescue. Their professionalism was only out done by their kindness. If you need this kind of help EBTH is your answer.
I always find great thing at this site. This time I got a fantastic designer bag at a fantastic price. I've bought dishes, crystal, art, jewelry, and now a purse. Quick delivery and accurate description!
I love vintage jewelry. Every day when new sales are posted, I scroll through till I find a piece that speaks to me. Trust me, there's a lot of speaking going on. I've bought numerous antique pieces that I just love! They arrive in a timely manner, carefully wrapped and well packaged. I am thrilled that I found EBTH.
Their shipping cost are overinflated. I wonder if the do this to screw over the folks whose merchandise they are selling. Most recent example is a Fenton Vase with $35.00 shipping. The most outrageous was $230.00 shipping charges on a lamp that i know weighed less than 10 pounds and would have travelled less than 150 miles to me.
I won an item on an auction on 6/22/2020. They immediately charged my card $498. I checked in regularly to find out when it would ship. On August 9'th they refunded my purchase without notice. When I questioned them, they stated they "could not find the item I won". Either they have theft issues in their warehouse or they lack integrity. Either way, stay away.
I won one auction and was pleased with shipping and handling. I however have not unpacked my dishes yet to see 1. If the description matches what i received 2. The condition after shipping. However, I have since been following some items on the site. First I was following an acoustic guitar signed by Bob Dylan. Strangely, 2 days later when I went back to look at the status, it had been removed from the website! I sent an email to EBTH and received no answer, but they closed my ticket. I rated the response of the ticket (none) as very poor. Now my ticket has disappeared!
Second, I was watching a Roberto Clemente business card, but unfortunately missed out on the bid before it closed. However, IT'S NOW BACK ON THERE... after the winning bid from the end of October. What the heck? I believe their is some inside stuff going on there and I have lost my trust in them. Probably will not bid on anything else after reading some of the above reviews and what I have experienced myself.
EBTH has a wide array of items, easy to bid, and not worry about having to be home or on my phone, the descriptions, pictures, and if any imperfections are described then are shown. I place my highest bids and usually win. I buy a lot of jewelry because I know I can trust EBTH to use a quality appraiser. Where else could you get a. 64 K marquise diamond solitaire, H-I, S2-I1 for $400! It's usually about 2/3 off the prices and some way better than that, like this diamond ring was priced $2,800 in store with only a 20% discount, which still makes it over $2,000. Best online auction and staff, no bidding fees since I have been buying from EBTH. We miss your auctions in Atlanta!
EBTH has the highly effective auction bidding software, incorporating simplicity of use, delivery notification, detailed photos all easy to understand with uncluttered screens. Also the ability to save a history of interested bid items before and after sale conclusion plus a history of purchases in my bidder account. Plus the large selection of varied priced items.
EBTH's photos of sale items is clear and detailed. The bidding mechanism has worked flawlessly for me over several years of experience. There is nothing I wish the bidding site could do that it doesn't already do. The EBTH people must have put a tremendous amount of thought and experience into their model.
Two items I saw I won end up, one broken before shipped (really?), one completely disappeared in the won history. (Someone else paid more under the table?) That's on top of one item I saw my winning price was $29 and the previous bidder's highest was $4.
I used EBTH to sell our items. Oh my gosh what a nightmare. The descriptions were all off, sizes incorrect, condition of items bad and descriptions to cry over. I understand why this is a good site to buy on because you are really getting the items cheap based on how they run the auction, but beware being a seller you will really feel ripped off.
Answer: I am just got through selling items through EBTH, and it has been the worst experience I have ever had. They grouped many expensive items together because they thought it was in the best interest of the company not the seller. I am also currently seeking legal council to potentially file suit against the company for fraudulent business practices. They didn't even give me a copy of their so called "contract", that I had to sign and send in with my items, until there was only 1 hour left in my sale. They left out the most expensive pieces I sent in and didn't sell them at all, didn't find out why until sale was over. As if all this weren't enough, they took real diamonds from the items I sent in to sell and replaced them with "white sapphires". So needless to say, they're probably about to get hit with a heavy lawsuit!
Answer: I have filed with the BBB and IC3 for internet fraud, and I am writing the Attorney General of Ohio. These guys make the used car salesman of the 60's look like saints. The products are marginal, and the service i mean customer service is non-existent. I also filed a fraud case with my bank, because for 3 week I got the run-around about them shipping the item, I never got it, and they said they couldn't return my money. Not true! In the United States, keeping the money and keeping the merchandise is illegal. Don't let the technology and glam of the website fool you, they are deceptive, dishonest, and you get the 'EVERYTHING BUT WHAT YOU PAID FOR.
Answer: Just to let you know ebth customers and consignors are dropping like flies. The arrogant company just terminated nearly 300 employees and closed markets in many states. That means its not growing, its failing.
Answer: I've not sold with them and never would. I've read the responses from people who sold items with these people and if you would like to be ripped off, then by all means go ahead. You'd fair much better by locating an auction house in your area. My experience with this particular bunch of thieves is on the buying end. Photos do not show the big picture, if there is a flaw in any item it will not be in the description and most certainly will not be photographed. The exorbitant shipping charges are insane. I'm not sure if as a seller you would see any profit from shipping, my guess is it goes right into their pockets. This is a very dishonest bunch from top to bottom. Please find a reputable dealer to sell you cherished items, I cannot stress this enough.
Answer: I bid on a pair of Swarovski Crystal Penguins. I was unaware that the larger Penguin was supposed to have a "tail" at the back. It's difficult to see with the cutting of the crystal so I only noticed it when I saw another like item and it had the tail. I closely inspected and can see what I thought was a cut in the crystal is really not smooth and is where the tail should be. The item was delivered on May 12. I put in a claim on July 2 and the company is standing on their 30 day return policy even though they listed as good condition and it was not broken in the box, I've spent thousands of dollars at their site and probably would have continued. The customer service individual refused to let me speak to a manager and just kept repeating the same thing. Now for 134 dollars, I am done with ever buying another thing. Not a good way to run a business. If they are going out... it's no wonder.
