I was a previous employee at DG and at the time was under a very poor manager who shortly after I had quit had been released from DG. Since the new store manager was very impressed with my resume and skills I thought I would go ahead and try to re-apply/come back to the company and give this new manager a chance.
Evidently this was the wrong idea to have since I had quit with "zero notice put in", not only am I Ineligible for rehire but there's also zero reconsideration processes in place since I had shown exceptionally good traits enough to be considered for a management role with the company.
As a whole. Yes the company has amazing prices but the level of professionalism found and observed within the management and overall hierarchy of DG leaves ALOT to be desired and I mean alot. Obviously I will no longer ever be able to return to DG anyway but I wouldnt consider going back even if I had a gun to my head.
I thought dollar general did back ground checks. They have an employee that has been convicted of domestic assault twice. This employee beat her mother in the head with a glass ash tray causing her mom to have a stroke. And now this employee is starting rumors about her grandmother who just passed. And she is telling customers my fiance killed their grandmother. And the manager is condoning it and spreading rumors that she knows nothing about. Its sad dollar general hires corrupt criminals. And I know she is doing it cause other family members and friends are coming too us and telling us the rumors these 2 are starting. And if dg doesn't correct this. Then they are condoning it to
I went to this dollar store on June 1st, 2021, because I needed a charge cord for my phone. That was the filthiest dollar general I had been in. I use to work for Dollar General and there is no way this store can be owned by the same people I worked for. They would not put up with the way this store looked. They did not have the charge cord I needed so I made no purchase.
At 1 point I was not wanting to go into this location... waldo and his staff have made it clean and comfortable good atmosphere. Nice music when I go Waldo talks to you by name really nice and when I was checking out my 9 year old got slime the cashier shared a story about her slime experience in cars so she gave us a bag and napkin. She has great energy. Wish everyone would take a min to be friendly like they are thank u guys. I enjoy going in to shop to be around a great group of ppl and u guys need to clone Waldo we need him on the front line of our hotel..

Manager at store #******* needs to find another job. Because sitting behind a desk accusing a fifteen year old of stealing is very very wrong... all because the fifteen year old was standing on the same isle as a women who was being accused of stealing. Stupid manager said fifteen year old walked into store with women being accused of stealing... wrong... she walked into the store with her grandmother... me... my granddaughter had to go outside and get a buggy because there were none in the store and just happen to follow this women in the store... really! I came to store #******* at 9:30 this evening, May 26th. As soon as I walked in the door, I had an employee tell me I had only 30 min to do my shopping. Five minutes later when she ran me up, I asked her why she felt the need to say that. All she would say was "You be careful and have a good night". Adam quickly came outside and apologized for her actions. I am a local business owner and would not be happy with this kind of performance from an employee.

The Kansas city metro area is the absolute worse to ever work for. They do not follow any company policies. They let SMs that they like get away with EVERYTHING. They will find anything and everything against you to get rid of you with no warning when you are on work comp. They do not care about their employees what so ever. There are store managers getting away with coupon fraud, SM not working their schedule always working their teams to death just so they don't have to work. Firing people for BS reasons with no other write ups or counseling at all. DMs who tell SM not to write people up because it will make you short staffed but then they use that reason to let you go because you didn't write people up ans follow policy and procedures. There is a DM paying employee CASH instead of giving then their vacation time. There are store that should be $#*! down due to store conditions the work environment is not safe for employees. The company itself does not care about its employees at all all they care about is what is best for them.

The DG store in Atkinson, NE is awful. Under new management right now and there is no hope for it at this point. The aisles are crowded with product that needs to be put out and some of them are blocked off so that no one can get down the aisle. Staff are not friendly at all with the exception of one guy. What a horrific mess. Spare yourself the misery of going in there.

If you are changing balloon companies and have no balloons for sale it would be nice if you would remove them from the wall or post a sign stating you are no longer selling balloons at this time. Over the past year I've noticed them replacing everything with their cover valley brand. Clover valley is terrible quality, they need to keep other brands in their store. Also I used to buy DG baby powder, but they swapped it to an even cheaper quality version for the same price. The lid is horrible and powder just goes everywhere, they also switched the $1 pregnancy test to a super cheap piece of crap. They are getting cheaper and cheaper, yet want to keep their prices high for poor quality
I was kicked out of Dollar General tonight because I refuse to wear a mask. Yes this is from a company who claims to be Christian. Some of us Christians believe the mask is the mark of the beast. God doesn't want his creation to live in fear, it is stated more than once in the Bible. Our state has lifted all mask mandates probably because the whole draconian practice is against our God given rights.
This is the 3rd review I have written about this store over the past year. I have mentioned before that I'm from a small town near Pittsburgh PA & have been up in Sheffield PA staying with my aging mom during the pandemic. The people who work in this store are superb. But there is one gentleman named Mike who stands out. He is always kind, friendly and helpful. When he is on checkout I always leave the store with a huge smile on my face, which I we all can really use this year. He spots customs right away and almost runs to the check out. He engaging in friendly, positive and kind conversation and has a super upbeat tone to his voice. I've never hear him complain about anything and he always sends you off with a thoughtful goodbye. His acts of kindness has made a difference to me, and I can say that he personally and the other members of your crew at this store are what keep me coming back to this specific store. When the pandemic is over and I head back to my home in Pittsburgh, I will miss the friendly service that Mike and his colleagues have give to me during my year away from Home. Do not shop at the Spartanburg Hwy Store in Hendersonville NC! They allow customers to walk in store with no masks and the cashier did not have on a mask - There is a sign on the door saying no one allowed without mask - but they do not enforce this policy. We were appalled at all of the maskless people walking around. Will not shop in this store again!
