Facebook banned me for three days and all of a suddden I can't log onto Disqus?!
Is this normal? I absolutely LOATHE Disqus!
The mods are all leftist and you will not be able to even reply to a discussion without getting banned its a JUNK site
If someone flags your comment, unpaid moderators will usually bow to them, and delete a comment, even when nothing inappropriate, or rule breaking has occurred. Disqus provides no means for someone to whom this has happened to dispute the removal of their comment. Hence, there is a heavy bias in favor of accusers.
[My comments edited about 7 months after my review above] - Most people who give their 1 to 5 star rating (below), I gather, are giving a rating to DISQUS, rather than of my previous REVIEW of DISQUS. This has been since Oct 2015 a little bit confusing to me. Since I thought the many 1-star ratings were of my review - rather than the sentiments (and 'review') that others reading my review apparently believe they are awarding to DISQUS, when they put a single star. Actually, they are awarding my REVIEW of DISQUS with 1-star. But since 11 have put that my comments are helpful, I can easily forgive them for so doing.
My review of DISQUS would be - if possible - a MINUS 5-STARS for Disqus, because of this lack of feedback, and lack of making any kind of appeal.
My recommendation to people who hate DISQUS, for the same - or similar - reasons that I do, would be to simply make up another email account, and start / restart in DISQUS under a different PEN NAME].
Perhaps, also, SiteJabber, might figure out a way to rate/rank the company someone, like me, is talking about, and emphasize that people are giving their rating of the object of scorn; and then make it clear, afterwards, they are rating the initial reviewer - in this case, myself - of giving the initial scorn to an agreed target of scorn - in THIS case, DISQUS.
I wrote in one of my reviews that there possibly could not be a way that review sites would get lower than Yelp.com, GlassDoor, and Indeed.com. Well, Disqus topped them all.
If the troll is an employer? Oh, hell yeah. Disqus will back that troll up 100% and delete your post for calling them out.
At Indeed.com, there was an male administrator who literally trolling under several names. Posing as 5 or 6 females, and about 2 or 3 other male personalities. How Indeed allowed that is beyond me. On that forum i had posted a link to another website stating that employees should be able to voice their opinions there.
Sure enough, here comes the radiology director of Harris Health Systems in Houston, TX. This time he used the pseudonym "Dimples". If you go on Linked In to check him out, and if you can see past all that blubber - you'll see he has Dimples.
He went in on the attack on the OTHER website, and ripped into my post about what's it's really like to work as a sonography in the medical field.
"Negative A**" was one of the few choice words he used.
Just so people won't buy into the "dream job" of working in sonography? It's not "challenging and rewarding" - it's a business. The Hospital administrators are only after one thing. Their year-end bonuses. How they obtain those bonuses? Overworking personnel, low pay, day and night, long shifts, having them on call for $1.50 an hour while on pager, etc. Having them called in for non-emergencies because the ER physician doesn't have the balls to tell a patient and their family: "No you can't call the tech out in the middle of the night because you didn't get baby pics while you were getting your ultrasound at the doctor's office." Yes, folks. There are people that do this constantly. And sonographers do not get paid that well on call to begin with.
All of a sudden here comes that director name calling, and belittling. I didn't have a problem with that but i ID'd him, and called him on his crap. And sure enough, him being an employer? He hit that report button. And Disqus deleted my post.
I found it so interesting, that when i researched Disqus. Since Donald Trump has been running for president, the racist trolls have gone crazy on that website. They use the "N" word, making racial threats to members, calling people monkeys, gorillas, anything that comes to their small minds. Anyone hits that report button - Disqus doesn't do anything.
But say something to an employer that gets butt-hurt? Disqus will delete that post faster than Donald Trump can say "Grab her by the p***y"!
Disqus.com is a website where you have different categories where you create discussions or respond them. It seems cool at first, but I got to be totally honest. Disqus.com has the worst moderators I've ever seen and the news and politics communities are insane. They will all attack you if don't agree with all their views. However, I was warned by sitejabber about this place. But for some dumb reason, I believed if I a gave it a chance I'd might like it. It could be a new Sodahead and a step up from IGNboards. But man was I horrifically wrong. Let's start with the moderation. Unless they like what you say, free speech isn't tolerated. They'll remove your comments and ban you without you knowing. I got remove from the breaking news section and all my comments I posted in the breaking news section were removed. They weren't bad at all and didn't violate any of the rules. I made a thread about how to figure out why I was banned from breaking news in Duck's den.
The Duck's Den is suppose to be a place where you could ask why you were banned or why was your content removed. However, the thread has been marked as spam. How the $#*! is that spam!? I tried asking other communities before that thread, they couldn't help or figure out what was going on either. I even ask the Admins of Disqus but they said:
"Hi Raj, As Disqus doesn't moderate at the site/ channel level. The best you can do is to pick another channel to post on."
Unbelievable, right? Mods there can get away with anything. It's totally frustrating. Now for the communities. It's mostly a right winged site. But that's not the problem. The problem it's full of flammers, bigots, racists and blockers. What's annoying is that most moderators due that favoritism BS, so if you're cool with the mods you're not going to get nuked. The website design is seems OK, they should allow private conversations. This is a terrible website ran by people who were clearly bullied in school or just flat out $#*!s who didn't make it in life. So they bully people online, by the deleting things and banning people because they can. Don't be a victim. Heed my words: STAY AWAY FROM DISQUS.COM.
A cool concept, but the features they advertise on their blog are not working.
Answer: I believe our posts get removed and we get banned, even called retards from moderators--of whom you would think would act more like the referee and not the instigator--because each discussion has an agenda. As long as you go along with what everyone else who is still in the discussion is saying, you are fine. However, dare express an alternate opinion--of which you may not even realize you are doing--you are told you are trolling (which means you are purposely writing something meant to cause disruption). Therefore as a troll, your post is removed. If you then ask why your post was deleted, you are now called a retard and are banned from the discussion entirely. And when you become confused as to what just happened for no reason, especially after a moderator who uplifted several of your opinions disagreed with one and simply deleted it, you finally find someone in Disquis management. It is then you are told to take it up with the moderator who banned you or another moderator on the page. You are also told the moderators have free-run to delete anything and ban anyone they want to and that management WILL NOT step in or interfere with a moderator's decision, even if that moderator is belittling you and is cursing at you. Finally, if you decide to appeal to another moderator thinking you will get a rational response, you are told you "threatened" the moderator who banned you because you went to management. Then are you threatened with getting banned completely off of Disquis for life? It's as simple and as ignorant as that!
Answer: Obviously for the majority of reasons sited here! Thanks for the good news!
Answer: This question is not a well formed question. It's about net locations, IP and MAC addresses, logins and emails. You can't force someone to use their name. If such a standard was imposed, people would merely make up fake names. Better to just let them have the random anonymized handles they prefer. Do you know how risky it is to post online with your real identity? There is no limit to data retention with many of these companies online. As the major data brokers continue to consolidate and violate privacy with indefinite data retention, you'll see everything you've ever done online, one day in a central repository of data. In the US we're seeing a beta test roll out of something similar to the chinese people rating programs, taxing dissidents, denying participations of citizens if they don't agree with government, etc. The better question is why can't we be completely anonymous, and why does Disqus need to track and record our IP addresses?
Answer: Disqus is an awful company from kalifornia. They hate free speech
Answer: Because this site is run by a bunch of closed minded left wing liberals. I they do not agree with your posts... you will be blocked.
Disqus has a rating of 1.2 stars from 216 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Disqus most frequently mention free speech, abc news and conservative views. Disqus ranks 496th among Social Network sites.
