Do not trust Container Store when they offer you a credit card with a special 0 interest rate! I ordered 3 closet systems/installation and did that because I had the option of what I was told would be 36 months 0 interest! As a result I spent a ton of money at Container Store- so they benefited.
It has now been 18 months and I realized I am being charged interest. I called the card company and they told me that I only had 12 months interest free, and because I didn't pay the balance in the first 12 months I was assessed interest to the beginning of the purchase. So, essentially I am paying full interest from the time I made the purchase.
What a scam. This is not at all what the staff at the store told me! I would not have made this decision or I would have used my own card and at least received miles, if I was going to pay interest from the time I made the purchase.
The problem is that I made this decision in the store while making the plans for the closets. So, I was not researching a credit card and of course didn't even have the details or fine print, because it was the store staff who told us about the offer. I believed I had the info I needed, and I set up my monthly payments based on thinking I had 36 months to pay it off. I was making automatic payments monthly, so honestly I wasn't looking at the account. And I made the mistake of not going over all the detailed information about the account.
I have been a customer of Container Store for years and have spent so much money there. I am DONE!

AVOID! I ordered and PAID IN FULL for a container in Oct 2020 – I received an email from THEIR representative it would be 2 weeks for delivery. After 8 months of the hassle calling them and me plowing the snow being prepared for delivery – they told me they wouldn't deliver the container unless the price came down lower than what I paid. I finally requested a refund.

Bad check out service
September 14, 2020

This was one of the worst Check out experiences. There was only 1 Cashier with only one of the scanners that scans the item in working condition. After requesting for more cashiers, one more person came but had to input the item numbers manually as the scanner wasn't working. Took 10 minutes to check out one item. Container store needs to have self check out like grocery stores so their employees aren't bothered by customers asking them to "work." Also, being a retail giant, surprising that their check out is so poorly managed.

Elfa closet system

Why bother?

The money spent on the redo of the Northwest Highway store, should have been spent on training for sales staff. Item not in stock. Next day from Amazon. Won't be back to the store.

I have a house of metro and interometro units carts and wardrobes. Fantastic customer service in the stores and equally online. My only complaint is shipping packing./packaging The items are often heavy and need more padded packaging on shelf corners (recyclable). My shelf carts are strong and have served me for years. My tv cart held my old big tube Tv 175lbs no issues, and now My new 50 inch flat (45lbs) is perfect on the cart and looks just as good.

Poor
June 29, 2020

Where do I begin they treat their employees so horribly. They have warehouse employees working in very hot condition its already hard to breathe with the mask on plus we are fighting the heat. While office mangers and office workers get to sit in the office with nice cold air. They let us know last week someone had covid but they didn't shut down only did "extra cleaning" yeah right! And now they are ending hazard pay its not even worth it anymore. They keep lying to customers that they will receive product in two week yeah good luck with that. THE CONTAINER STORE is not employee friendly to them we are just another number and they keep hiring more and more people. If I were you spend your money elsewhere because they charge to much for items that break within a week.

First I bough one at the Washington DC location and when I got home I found out that the cabinet was locked with no keys available. Shame on me for not checking. Additionally I found scratches on the cabinet. Emailed costumer service and the manager from the store called me the next day and told me that she can send me a key in the mail. I said not to because I will be going to the store in Arlington VA to return and pick up four new ones. Before heading out I call the store to ensure that the items were new and was assured so. Mind you I live in Virginia Beach VA., so it's a three hour drive. Got to the store and picked up the items in boxes so I was under the impression they were new. Shame on me again. Got home and unpackaged all four to find out they are all used and just repackaged. One had a broken top drawer, all had scratches all over and one had hair all over and stains on the cushion.

I recently placed two recent orders with Container Store. As shown in pictures that I emailed to the Container Store, one of the lids for one of the canisters that I received was sent to me with a defective lid handle. Not only was the lid handle defective but the company had to know that it was defective. Because their product was defective and that they had to know it was defective when it was sent it to me, I asked please either a refund to the credit card charged,(preferably), (2) a replacement lid or one entire new canister and/or (3) a return shipping label. The Container Store never responded to voicemail or email. They obviously know nothing about keeping customers. Never again!

Item came broken twice

Medium Premium Modular Acrylic Display Case Clear. Case was fine, packing not so much. It's a fragile item, and packed poorly. It came broken, they replaced it, broken again. Had them refund my money

Rude male cashier

No mask signs on doors or front window, and yet, I was verbally accosted by the person working the cash register. Then while checking out I had to remove my mask for my phones facial recognition, and the guy acted like I had the plague. I assured him that I had been vaccinated and asked him if he had, he replied "No". If you work with the public and you are hyper paranoid to the point of rudeness, GET THE VACCINE! And, if the Container Sore has a policy, put a damn sign up!

I ordered 6 translucent storage boxes on January 2. First came the small ones, one month later the 2 large ones. One of them was broken. Had to be broken when put in the shipping box, because the broken off piece was never found in the shipping box. The container store sent me a replacement.

Yesterday 5 weeks later I finally received the 2 medium size boxes. One of them is broken again. I called, the wait is never ending, yesterday I waited 45 minutes. I opted for a call back option. Explained to the customer service rep. She informed that they do not have the box to replace the damaged one and they CANNOT send it at the end of February when they get the boxes. I do not want a refund, after 5 weeks I want the box. Their system does NOT allow to send me a replacement in 3 weeks.is this a joke?
I guess I should place a new order and wait until July, then if it is damaged place another order. This is lunacy! I was supposed to receive a call back from a supervisor within 2 hours. 4 hours later still waiting.
Do not waste your time placing an order. You cannot get though to anyone and if you do after 45 minutes they give you a lunatic excuse why after 5 weeks you cannot have a broken container box replaced.

I used curbside, contact-less pick-up during the pandemic for HUNDREDS of dollars worth of merchandise. When I got home, I found several problems. 1. two of the four cabinets I ordered were actually floor models, which were never communicated to me as such... and I was charged full price for them even though they were scuffed. 2. the other two cabinets which were brand new in vendor shipping containers were bent and damaged making the drawers difficult to use.

I contacted the Container Store in 3 different ways only to be met with a resistance to trying to understand the problem. After finally succumbing to a last resort to call them out on social media, I was contacted by two different agents who literally took no time to even read about the issue and then somehow thought it was prudent to simply forward my email confirmation of one of my orders and try to tell me I was wrong that I only ordered 2 cabinets... even though I provided 2 different order numbers so they could verify. Just idiots. I will NEVER buy anything from them again. EVER. After reaching back out to them to let them know they misunderstood the issue, just crickets. No attempt made to try to help.

Incredible, on beginning of April I checked on-line for a product that I decided to don't buy because it was expensive. I exit out. Simple, not?. Well, I received a bill for a product never bought. Never received. You think you can call customer service and solve the problem, easy. No with the Container Store, they don't respond the phone, the voice messages, the e-mails. Now I'm been harassed by synchrony bank. I may pay to be in peace with them, but I HIGHLY NOT RECOMMEND TO DO BUSINESS OR BUY ANYTHING TO THEM, They are dishonest business, and horrible customer service.

I ordered $198 worth of kitchen plastic containers. Way more expensive than anyone else's, but theirs are the best. I typed in my current shipping address and billing info and hit 'complete purchase.' After a while, when my stuff didn't arrive, I checked the tracking info, and they had shipped to my old address. I went on customer service and was put on hold forever and finally hung up on. So I tried the online chat. That person, 'Natalie' immediately said it was my fault, not their problem before I even explained all the details. Once I told her that I definitely entered my correct address and it was their error, she said it was too late to fix since it was already delivered and I should try finding the people it was shipped to (in NJ--I'm in SC!) and asking them for the merchandise. This is why I wont be shopping with them ever again, and this is also why Amazon is so huge. Amazon would send me new stuff in the interest of retaining me as a loyal customer, so would Walmart. Container Store could care less!

Placed an order on May 10. Site indicated potential 2 week delay due to coronavirus. For first week received emails about every other day apologizing for delay. Then nothing. After 2,5 weeks began trying to contact customer service. Constant hangs via phone. No response to email queries. Finally sent 2 emails asking to cancel order. No response. Called first thing one morning (after 3 weeks) and after being on hold 45 minutes connected with human. Explained that I wanted to cancel order and why. Was told that they had no way to cancel an order once it went in to automated fulfillment system-nor could she provide any idea of when it would be shipped. After discussion she agreed to notify shipping to turn around shipment such that it would be automatically returned to the warehouse and my charge would be reversed. Unfortunately, I believed her and went to physical store and bought items ordered online. About 10 days later, online order was received and credit card was billed. No way to return without paying. Will never order online again.

If I could give this review a big fat zero, I would. I recently ordered 6 drop-front sweater boxes online and I made sure to measure my closet before ordering. However, when I got them I felt that were too big for my closet and did not work with my sweaters and shirts. I wanted to exchange them for the shirt size instead. When I spoke with customer service regarding the exchange and returning the items, both ladies I spoke with were very rude and this company appears to not care about customer satisfaction at all. I was informed that I could exchange the items but that I would be responsible for shipping. I packaged my items and took them to the UPS store only to find out that it would cost me just as much to ship them ($125) as my items ordered ($125). I called customer service again asking if this was really the best they could do the only thing they could tell me is that this is there return policy and that they do not provide shipping labels. I was told I could return them to a store and save on shipping. The closest store to my location is 6 1/2 hours away, over 430 miles! Needless to say I am stuck with these boxes that don't even work for me because they are too cheap to provide long-distance customers with shipping. I will NEVER order from them again!
