They need to put out more updates. Used to be ok, now it is constantly glitchy. Also their rates aren't very competitive. I need to move banks.
I was widowed and even with a Will and Trust Chase has been extremely difficult to work with. The bank part took me five hours to get an address to send a deposite on. I needed to send it due to not having a local bank or atm. But that was the easy part of working with Chase. The really difficult part was getting a death certificate copy of the Will and trust to stay found at Chase. I sent several copies and finally someone gave me an address to email a copy to. This took over two months of calling to get. Their probate division is really a mess. You call in and have to leave a call back message. The call back comes in as a spam call. That makes it so much easier and if you miss the call you start over with calling to get on hold to finally get to leave the message. In the mean time they cancel the automatic payments on cars then they refuse to talk to you as the spouse widow or personal representative until they get lose and don't find several copies. Then it is smooth sailing. It took over two months to even get them to hold onto the information and then I had to call back. I now have the information I needed and plan to pay off the cars cancel my credit card and the account. Oh and I was told that since the account did not have sufficient funds to pay the DFAS back they were holding onto a partial payment until there was enough money to make the full payment. That was said in spite of the letter I received from them telling me they had sent a partial payment to the DFAS. So in short the letter is a lie or the employee lied. I am now sending a check to Chase that is likely going to get lost or not deposited into the account. I have no faith in this company. Oh and before I stop just try to call a branch bank. They either don't answer the number listed in the internet or the call is sent back into the black hole of customer service who can't really help you but will transfer your call so you can be on hold. I challenge the board members of this company to try this after the death of their spouse and without any additional help or identification as a board member.
I have tried many times to access these points but always end up with a blank screen.
Thank you,
Betty R. Stribling
Do not use your card overseas/ you will get zero protection on fraudulent charges! Their "non-customer service department" is in the Phillipines!
I called Chase bank before I went to Thailand and told them I would be there in Thailand and to allow purchases and to be allowed to use my debit card at ATM machines in Thailand. I also told them that if they ever needed to verify me or my charges in Thailand that I would not have my American cell phone or access to that phone number with me in Thailand so that wouldn't be an option if they needed to verify me. I told them they would have to verify me through my email and or to ask me my security questions that I set up when I opened my online account. That only I would know the answers to. My laptop broke after being in Thailand for 2 months. I had already made probably 100 purchases and or ATM withdraws in Thailand. So they knew it was me there using my debit card and there were no issues until my laptop broke and I went to an Apple store to buy a new Mac Book Air for around $1,100 USD. My card was declined at the Apple store. Before I had a chance to call Chase customer service from my Skype phone I went to get cash out of an ATM machine since I was out of cash to live on. My ATM cash withdraws that I tried to do were also declined. I was out of money and no way to pay for anything online including my hotel room bill or my plane ticket home, etc. etc and I had no cash to live on. I spent the next 3 days on my Skype phone calling Chase fraud dept to have them unlock my account. I asked to speak to the supervisor and higher and higher up the Chase fraud dept I went from supervisor to supervisor until I reached the highest person in charge of the security dept. They never would unlock my account. They said the ONLY way they would be able to verify me and unlock my account was by my American cell phone number. I begged them to do it by my email and or my personal security questions but they wouldn't. I had no other credit cards or debit cards. They made me homeless in Thailand with no money for food or anyway to pay for a hotel or plane ticket home. Please help me get these evil doers.
P.S.
I have been to Thailand probably 20 times in my life and when this happened before I would just call them up and fix the problem in one call and they would unlock my account via my email and my personal security questions.
OMG do not use this Bank! My brother passed and I brought in a special court order to access the Safe Deposit box with the death certificate to make arrangements to the close box. They had to approve it and sat on it for 3 weeks. I get a call that they approved it and now I am back home out of state. Okay so my next trip back for memorial is set up for 3 weeks from now and I get a letter saying they will close the box if I don't in about 10 days from when I get the letter. Called number on letter, couldn't help me, so I was given another # and it is basically a non working #. Called branch and told them said they couldn't postpone it and I would have to get extension. They gave me 2 #s to call. First number told they have no control over branch SD boxes and to contact the branch. TOTAL RIDICULOSNESS AND HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. The branch manager simply could make the appt with me (since they already know the whole situation) and let me go in there when I am there for the service only 3 weeks away.
Worst experience I have ever had with opening a new checking account. Unfortunately I had to make 4 phone calls where I was put on hold for over a hour each time and I had to take time off work to make 3 visits to the local branch near my residence and each time they had to call another dept to attempt to correct the error on my checking account. To my surprise, the 1st visit and 2nd visit I was litterally lied too which is why I had to make a 3rd trip to the branch. After an hour and half at the branch they told me the issue was fixed, only to find out that after I got home and I attempted to use my chase app from my phone, I found that my account was not fixed. For some reason the chase organization are not all on the same page and none of them seem to positively know the answers or solutions to such simple issues and to my questions that were clearly warranted. I find it difficult to trust Chase bank for the fact that they would rather lie and give false information to their customers, I say this because I made sure during each visit that I understood exactly what they told me, and instead of Chase bank employees being knowledgeable or honest about not knowing the answers or policies they chose to lie to me instead. 5 different employees told me false information, due to them not actually knowing the correct answers. It's unprofessional and I feel sorry for the employees because honestly their lack of knowledge and the fact that they felt it necessary to lie instead, made them all seem really stupid to me and somewhat pathetic... this is the fault of jp Morgan chase corporations lack of employee training and their lack of instilling simple ethics and values. I'm seriously considering closing my account and taking my financial business to another bank of who I can trust..
Chase bank I give it bad review because they say I cause fraud check in their bank and I can't bank with them
They over charge on NSF
Actually doubling the rate
This operation appears to be run by overseas.
Not American.
I liked Chase for CC's but had an issue back in 2020 (Old Review Below). But since then they've fixed most of the issues and I've again enjoyed using their cards that offer Cash Back! I save a TON on Gas, Groceries, Take-out, etc... I was getting a new card every few years and now have 3 Chase Cards. Out of the 12 cards I have, I use the chase ones the most. That 5% adds up :) I pay fully every month via BillPay to avoid interest. They also offer Credit Journey which is an awesome motivator to keep track of how your FICO is doing (Currently 824, WooHoo!), Other cards have their perks too, like Discover also offers Cash Back and Simplicity offers Two additional years warranty on some products whereas most others only double your product warranty (Did you even know that? Check your Card info). But 90% of the time I use one of my 3 Chase Cards. I'm Very happy with Chase now.
OLD BAD REVIEW:
I stopped using my Chase Credit cards for 4 main reasons. (1) You can no longer get statements from them through BillPay. (2) They provided a 12 month 0% transfer offer, but after accepting, they made 1st months payment equal 90% of the transfer amount. Basically, I paid a transfer fee and had to pay the total transferred to avoid interest. (3) No matter how many times I've asked, they will not stop sending me junk email. The emails contain NO opt-out links and going to the site and un-checking all marketing options does not work. (4) Their Fees for transfer are much higher than most any other card. They have gone from a 5 star Card provider to a one star in about 3-4 years. I recommend Discover or AMEX rather than Chase for Credit Cards.

My Gramma who only has an Ipad and IPhone - no printer access and been a customer of Chase bank for over 10 years took an Uber to the Tanque Verde Branch in Tucson AZ to get a POA printed, witnessed and signed for the move across country to her family. She is disabled and almost deaf.
The branch told her it was policy that they couldn't print the document for her and she had to go to FedEx and they might be able to help her - but they would not do anything unless it was printed.
The temp RIGHT NOW is 108 - My Gramma and Mom attempted to speak with the Branch Manager and was told that they were not available.
I called customer service after 45 minutes and 3 representatives - I got told the Branch Manager was not available. When he called back he said they can't do anything within their systems to help because of fraud and they can't do anything.
So Gramma and Mom are asking complete strangers in a bank to be a witness to a signature of a Chase bank customer from over a decade and the branch manager said it was all their fault.
DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH CHASE BANK
I deposited a CASHIERS CHECK FROM ELEMENTS CREDIT UNION FOR $3990.00 OBVIOUSLY IT WAS GOOD BECAUSE IT WAS A GUARANTEED CHECK. THEY SENT MY CAR AND HOUSE INSURANCE PAYMENT BACK AND PAID THE PURCHASES FROM AMAZON. BUT IT SHOWED THEY HAD TAKEN IT FROM MY BALANCE SO I WAS NOT AWARE UNTIL THEY CANCELED MY INSURANCE. I GOT NO WARNING AND NO NOTICE THEY DID THIS OUT OF MEANNESS. THIS IS RIDICULOUS THEY KNEW THE CHECK WAS GOOD AND IT WAS DEPOSITED ON DEC 28 2022 AND THEY HELD IT UNTIL THE 9th I AM SO SICK OF THEM. THEY CHARGE FEES FOR CHARGES BUT ITS AGAINST THE POOR BECAUSE THE RICH DONT BOUNCE DEBITS SO THEY STEAL MILLIONS FROM THE POOR AND U CANT DO ANYTHING WITHOUT A BANK ACCOUNT BECAUSE WE HAVE ALMOST A CASHLESS SOCIETY. THIS IS DESCRIMINATION AGAINST THE LOW INCOME CITIZENS.
THERE SHOULD NOT EVEN BE SUCH A THING AS LOW INCOME. THE GOVERNMENT KNOWS ITS TOO LOW TO SUBIVE AND YET THEY WONT MAKE EMPLOYERS PAY US MORE. THEY SEND ALL THAT MONEY TO HELP OTHER COUNTRIES AND LET THEIR OWN PEOPLE SUFFER. RIDICULOUS!
We used our Sapphire Reserve card to buy custom designer furniture from James Antony LLC Design Center in Dallas Texas. The total was over $45,000. Over a six-month period, only two large living room chairs and two ottomans, a rug arrived correctly the two couches, four counter stools, four breakfast chairs and table, a coffee table and the wrong under padding for the area rug were damaged or wrong, and never corrected and delivered. We disputed over $30,000 worth items never received. James Antony denies any fault with anything claiming it was all our fault, even the items that arrived damaged from their "white glove" delivery service. Of course, we refused to accept damaged goods. The Chase dispute department never had two representatives say the same thing as excuses and we spoke to dozens. They simply continued to lie to us. They would get us off the phone by asking for more details and after providing them over 2" thick worth of hundreds of pages with repeated explanations and receipts etc. of supporting documentation, we have continually done as asked and supplied. Anything they requested as support to our claim they were provided by us, the merchant provided nothing, not even a receipt. This all started last June 2022. Yesterday May 12,2023 their representative said they do not check with the merchant just their bank which keeps repeating there was no billing error. Chase will not provide us with any documentation as to their investigation for this matter. Not even which bank the merchant processed our Sapphire Reserve card through for payment, absolutely nothing but a form letter or continued different stories from the Chase various employees repeating they were sorry but there is nothing they could do.
We have over 760,000 points with this Sapphire card, which were accumulated as we charge between $10,000 and 25,000 a month. That all stopped last month. We now use a different bank's Visa card. BTW- I had been with JP Morgan Chase since about 1988 when they were Valley National Bank, then Bank One, then just Chase and now JP Morgan Chase. Who really is the loser in this? We are out $30,000 and I have wasted months with letters, worthless long phone calls, filing complaints with the local Chase bank branch, even quoted back to them their written contract of visa card merchant agreement on the subject of "Chargeback 7.1 Merchant fails to issue a Refund to a Customer return or does not receive good or service." Now finally disgusted with their lies, and insulting waste of my time, Chase has lost us as lifelong customers. We are going to share our most disappointing story with anybody and everywhere we can. Do not expect any buyer protection with any of the items you purchase!
I have been a chase bank customer since before they became chase 20+ years. I have had multiple problems happen to my account but the recent has made me start looking for a new bank. I recently moved to a very remote location in Alaska the closest town and store are 3 hours away since I have been here I have made about 6 purchases with my debit card at the little town store they really don't have much. So I had to pay $140 to get to the closest town to get supplies for the month. I was able to pull money out for the taxi ride but when I went to pay for my groceries I was declined and then my card deactivated. Where I am at the normal phone company's do not work so I had to change my number to one with gci so I don't have my same number now I did do the online change for my number. When I called they wouldn't help me and kept telling me I would have to go into a chase bank or use the number that should no longer be on my account but according to them that doesn't mean $#*!! They wouldn't authorize my card any other way then through the old number and told me I was screwed and couldn't make my purchases I attempted to use my wife's card and they did the same to her card when I spoke to a manger at the bank she recommended the store give me access to there account to pay them directly or for the manager that was listening and hearing this loan me the 1200. 00 they have never meet me or know me at all but yet this manager wants a stranger to loan me the money for my groceries this was the worst experience I have ever had I will be changing my bank after this m. This experience made me angry/pissed embarrassed and scared that I couldn't provide for my family even though I have enough money in my account chase is a joke and I will be reporting this experience to the better business bureau and who ever I can! Bv
On March 5th I bought a ten dollar lottery ticket and was so thrilled that I won 1,000 dollars. On March 7th went to lottery office to claim my check all is well even standing in line for four hours didn't bother me to much. So at 5:47 I went to ATM my branch of Chase and deposited said check. Received my receipt saying that check might be put on hold until the 16th March this I found unacceptable so on Tuesday I called customer service and waited about thirty minutes to speck with a rep. Well that didn't go well they interne transferred me to the department that handles the holds on checks. In total I spent four hours and never got a answer. So on Wednesday I decided to call the CEO of Chase Bank in New York and of course he was not available. So was transferred to their executive office and told my story about how I felt they were wrong to put hold on a thousand dollar check from the lottery and the horrible customer service I had suffered thru. About a hour later a young lady called and said they had opened a file regarding the hold on my lottery check witch didn't make a lot sense to me but ok she said she was there for me to get this hold lifted. Ok now it's March 9th so I took it upon myself to call lottery office with check number only to find out that said check has already cleared, I was so excited so I called the so called advocate whos name is Krishina with the great news about the lottery check having cleared. This is where I finally realized that having being loyal customer for around twenty years meant nothing. She went on to explain that this had nothing to due with the funds being available this had everything to do with their policy of putting holds on checks and she was only there to try and get Chase to release funds early witch goes against their policy. So in short I still haven't received my money and most likely won't until March 16th. So in closing I realize that I don't matter the money doesn't matter their policy is all that matters. And yes I will be leaving Chase. The thought that a bank this size and all that matters is their policy's and to ask them to bend a little requires a full investigation on their part is mind blowing. Thanks for letting me get my story out there.
Because Chase has a policy to withhold funds up to the longest time allowable by (45 days) law, my car was repossessed.
I was a victim of identity theft and fraud.
When I discovered what was happening and called my bank and warned them about it and told them that I had not submitted the claim and to stop it because I I had not requested it nor authorized anyone to so.
They did try to stop it, but the crooks had already cleaned out my account to the tune of $1170. 30. This is the amount of the claims filed for my last three car payments.
Chase charged me the $1170. 30 causing an over draft. When my social security disability benifits check was direct deposited into my account, Chase took the money out. The problem is that they wouldn't release the funds to pay for the money the thieves took to the finance company. I made two visits to my branch and spoke to the manager and she said that there was nothing she could do.
I got up on the morning of the 9th and the finance company had already repossessed my car. I spent more than three hours on the phone before I could find out that Chase still had the money. When, after three hours, I was finally told that Chase was going to hang on to the money for the full amount of time that the law allows, 45 days. Even after I told them that my car had been repossessed because they hadn't released the money. When I asked why, I was told
"Because they can" and when I asked what they intended to do about it, "sorry" was all I got. So I filed a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau
( yes, they are a real government agency)
One of the things that the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau does when they get a complaint is to send it to the company concerned and see if they respond.
Today's date is October 30,2019, last Thursday afternoon I got a call from them and they said they will investigate and get back to me. It's been almost a week and and I haven't heard from them yet.
All through this ordeal I have gotten responses ranging from " because we can " to " I don't care ". Just a word of caution, be careful, remember " because they can " and " they don't care ".
I pay by credit card because supposedly it affords you a degree of protection if you find you have been scammed. I hired a roofing company to replace some fascia board and gutters and put in a drip edge. They first installed ridged, wood-look fascia board that didn't match my smooth fascia board. I asked them to change that. They used cement board, which, not being in the trades myself, I did not know was not reversible. They reversed it. I found out from the manufacturer that you cannot do that. The company was by that point not communicating with me. They had messed up other parts of the job including promising to take care of paint, then putting that on me. And showing me one color brochure that was for aluminum gutters not steel, so they brought out a color I had not chosen and will have to have painted to match the windows -- more expense. The company was not even a real company -- it was just a guy who went around getting people to sign on for gutters and/or roofs, and then the guy goes around to other crews to see if they want extra work! The job had to be redone. I submitted all evidence to the Chase dispute department. It was torture dealing with them. They would say they didn't receive things that I had the personnel at my local Chase branch fax to them. Then we would fax again. Then they would say they had the material after all. Then they would say they didn't. And on it went. Totally unprofessional. They were in an outsourced telecon type place overseas and seemed to be reading off a script. When I asked to speak to a supervisor, I was cut off. It takes about a half hour to get through to anyone. If you are cut off, they will not call you back. You have to start all over no matter how many hours of your time it takes. I wasted hours and hours trying to dispute the charge only to be told, without any substantiating reasons, that the charges from the scam company were "valid." I had my credit card with Chase for decades. I shut down the account. I am also in the process of closing my substantial savings account with them and moving everything to other banks. Supposedly being a "private client" is supposed to afford you some degree of extra assistance -- it didn't. Just more Chase b. S. It was bad enough getting ripped off and having to have work done twice. Chase made it ten times worse instead of helping. Don't bank at this place. As long as you are helping them, you will be fine. If you need any help from them, you won't get it.
I opened my pers. Chase account in 2002, with an lovely young Banker (who was the PERFECT customer relation at my local branch)! After meeting her and see, how she treated me and my new opened Account holders as Chase, I changed my Business Account, my Savings Account and entered in many new products over the years with Chase!
And suddenly by 2020 everything changed (and I am not talking about Covid-19), I am talking about banking! My Husband opened accounts and became a "private client" (which means nothing at my local Branch in Sheridan Street) there are no advantage of any kind, except calls from a "Banker" who try to sell you new stocks or investments.
In March suddenly, Chase didn't pay my set up Bill pays (with more than efficient money in all Accounts) I made 2 bank appointments to find out, what could be the problem! Guess what? My Account where canceled! I couldn't believe this, when the online customer service told me! I send an certified letter to the CEO at Headquarters (never heard back) spoke and emailed to Executive offices at Chase, (we have to do some deeper research), You never receive an full name or employee #, the Executive Department is not allowed to answer via email ("only" via phone call)! I believe this is some ill feeling going on! Thanks god, I opened a new Account with my old bank on march 01,2022 and had enough money to do so, since Chase hold my money "hostage" and would not authorized wirer transfer into my new Accounts? ALL my Accounts Checking, business, credit cards (I have an 795 credit score), savings where closed without any explanations! I had to go to the bank and the only way to receive my moneys from all my accounts, was as a check payment! If any one could explain to me, is this what they are calling "Private Client" OR "customer service"? So, please if you want to save yourself a lot of headache, DON'T open ever an Account with Chase! Except if you like to left in the unknow about your Bank accounts and your banking relations! Chase need to educate their employees and as Customer, we should have access to a "rescues" line available, after 20 years of banking with Chase!
Anything related to a credit you will have a hard time to process. Customer loyalty doesn't exist.
Long lines and poor teller services. When you call them, they never call you back.
Answer: Offered as a finance for auto loan... I am seriously thinking of changing banks..
Answer: Because they can and they don't care. The customer service outside of the branch is non-existent. They truly don't care about anything other than the amount of money they can collect from the interest they can collect from our money.
Chase has a rating of 1.4 stars from 504 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Chase most frequently mention customer service, credit card and bank account. Chase ranks 294th among Banking sites.
