Just like Time Warner cable that it now owns under the spectrum brand, charter communications has always been a horrible company that wouldn't exist without regional monopolies granted by our government. Horrible customer service and support they lie about the low-cost Internet plans availability pretending they don't have them - even though they are required by law to have them, their billing and support staff are terrible, their Internet packages are overpriced, internet outages are fairly common…
After years of lackluster service from Charter Communications, we canceled service for a more reliable competitor. We followed all of the ridiculous cancelation instructions, including dropping our equipment at UPS. After all that we get a collection account pop onto our credit. It was not a huge amount, so low that all I can think is that UPS lost our equipment or spectrum didn't sort them properly. Either way, putting a collection on our credit for their bad management is essentially theft by incompetence. DO NOT USE CHARTER UNLESS YOU'RE OKAY WITH BEING ROBBED.
I canceled my service with Spectrum in the middle of their billing cycle and also cancelled the draft to pay their bills on my bank account. Consequently, they charged for the full billing cycle and also charged $25 for the cancelled draft. I refused to pay them and now they've turned my account over to a collection agency. I'll pay the bill ONLY when it's corrected and no sooner.
Tried for weeks to cancel tv service, keep internet. Been to the store. Returned equipment,, online, phone, for hours and hours, they keep sending me in circles, the "retention" department, etc. etc.it seems to be a method to be able to keep billing you... it is actual thievery. I have had several "confirm cancellation #s and yet the bill comes with tv. Over and over and over. Time for a lawyer.
One of the best media company I've ever experienced. No contract, no cheap tricks to get money out of your pocket. Spectrum internet is the fastest and most reliable internet.
We were mistakenly enrolled in the landline phone package with internet service. When we discovered the error we reported it to Charter. They referred us to the city government and we have never heard back.
Been a customer since 2014 Today went to our local spectrum store to try and the phone service and down grade some services on my account. Was told that I had to contact the retention department and gave me their number. Was on hold for 30 minutes. The lady was real nice but said she could only change my plan not cancel phone. She transferred me to the cancellation dept. after another 30 min on hold I hung up, went on line and got cancellation dept. phone number. After being on hold 10 min was told he could not help me had to go back to the people that told me they could not help. And wait time would be 27-30 minutes. Asked to speak to a supervisor was told that I would still have to be transferred back to the department that had 27-30 minute hold time it has been 20 min still waitin to cancel phone service. Considering canceling all of the services.
They (charter)claim bills not paid. We have bank statements digital receipts of the payments from them showing the bills were paid and they still keep double billing. Charter was caught taking a payment from my checking account with their online payment account with out prior authorization from me and after my bill was already paid. We tried to have our services disconnected to just internet and the kept us waiting for over a half hour only to hang up on us or transfer us only to be hung up on again. This went on for over 4 hours until we threatened we are going to the media about it. They still tried to convince us and push us to keep our services demanding to know why we were disconnecting. It was like a revolving door but getting NO where. We purchased 4 zumo boes outright but the continue to charge us for them and insist the money we paid for them with was for the monthly bill which also was paid a week prior. They need to be sued and to be exposed for their fraud on and by all media outlets. I feel and believe that everyone reporting on here about their poor services and fraud should ban together with one giant petition to have them shut down and gmtogether file one giant law suit against Charter Spectrum.
Worst customer service I've ever had to deal with. I placed an order and employee got my address wrong and they never came to do my install. When called back, they had wrong address so we fixed it. Nope 10 employees and 8 hours later still no service and no address change Called on February 13 th to ask for a refund and it's February 27 th and still no refund. I've dealt with over 14 regular incompetent employees and I've asked to speak with upper upper management and still no one can seem to do their job. Then I was informed that I would not be getting a refund on the card I used for deposit, it was being loaded to a prepaid card and mailed to the wrong address. After saying how unacceptable this process was, I was informed that I should call my bank and dispute it and hung up on. I've tried contacting the Vice chairman, the vice administrator over customer service and still they have not refunded money they stole from me. I would not recommend this company for a dog house, or chicken coop. My next move is an attorney. Btw if anyone with common sense working for this company reads this, you should make it so customers can contact the President and Vice President of this company.
This is by far the worst company I've ever had to deal with. The internet service is horrific and works maybe 10% of the time if you're lucky. The customer service is even worse. There is zero communication and no one knows what they're doing. I've had so many charges that I have no idea where they are coming from. They sent something to collections that I have never heard of while my account is completely paid and I have never been late on a payment. THIS COMPANY IS HORRIBLE AND SHOULD NOT BE IN BUSINESS. If I had other options I would 100% use them. I cannot stress enough the lack of professionalism, lack of knowledge and absolute horrific quality of service that comes with this company.
They come out with better plan a month after you start you current plan. They Phone always drop calls. They have horrible customer service and hold times. I would recommend going to US cellular.
Only rated a 1 star because 0 stars was not an option. I had upgraded to Spectrum TV after having Spectrum Internet for three years. My cost for the internet was $17.00, the plan was initially $14.00. After having Spectrum TV for a couple months and after several back and fourths about the inflated bill, I cancelled my Spectrum TV and payed the outrageous bill and turned my box in. Then come to find out they enrolled me in a $79.00 internet program without my permission on knowledge. Here's the fraudulent part, which is in addition to their consistent fraudulent parts, I was told, that the only way this could be fixed was to pay for the fraudulent internet service, then they could try and credit it back to me and then possibly get me back in the $17 a month plan. How stupid is that?!?! Spectrum lies about its plans, it's never what they say, there's always a catch, and if you don't catch it early enough, they will rob you blind. Never again will I ever use charter or spectrum and if anyone asks me about TV or Internet, I will tell them the same thing that I've said in this review. They should be shut down. There's no telling how much money they've cheated people out of.
I recently requested the call detail for my Spectrum home phone. They just lied to me like I'm stupid and said my incoming calls were covered by "PRIVACY", which is a load of children's fairy tale crap! I'm a retired communications tech, and telephone surveillance tech, who also studied law! These people just lie and deny and tell you to go get a subpoena, and you are nothing but a PAYCHECK TO THESE $#*!S! They are required by law to keep your call records for 18 months, and these A moral liars expected me to believe my incoming cslls were covered by "PRIVACY", which is just a load of made up fairytale crap, since the modem HOLDS 7O INCOMING CALLS! They are SUPPOSED to release this data upon SIMPLE request! But they demand a subpoena just to be difficult! These people only care about profit, and NOT THEIR CUSTOMERS, and YOU ARE NOTHING BUT A PAY CHECK TO THEM! I DESPISE THIS COMPANY! I'm calling my LAWYER!

I was told that I would be sent a box to send my items back and I was never sent a box and because I wasn't sent a box, they put me into collections. When I called after I got the letter, I was told that I didn't need to worry about it, they were sending out a box today and that it would not be in collections anymore and that they would cancel the collection. THEY LIED! Now I have this equipment that I have and have been trying to send back but they obviously do not want it back and I have been placed in collections for $120 that I should not owe because charter communications will not send someone out to get it nor send me a box! Horrible and will never recommend charter to anyone and will be calling and complaining! AGAIN!

The worst wifi service you can get it goes out every 5 minutes and it's down more than it's on so if you want your wifi to go out every 5 minutes use charter
In Kansas City specifically, the work environment is atrocious. Tamala Cleaver, the director of HR thinks that she absolutely owns the place and everyone is fearful of crossing her. So all of the leadership just continues to move about their day to day avoiding her whenever they can. As a result, the leadership passes down the dumpster fire mentality to their employees, which in turn gets pushed off on the customers. Unfortunately as a result of the director of HR's tyranny, the market has continued to suffer with great attrition. The VP recently decided to leave to a much smaller company as a result of the stress that Tamala has allowed to run rampant. Many great leaders that truly lived and breathed Charter in Kansas City have left as a result of Tamala's idiocy. This in turn has caused many leaders to be low tenure with very little training. Tamala also holds grudges and will stop at nothing to stop future employment opportunities to those that have crossed her. She believes that as a result of her holding the last name "Cleaver", yes one of the Emanuel Cleavers though only by marriage, that she can just do whatever she wants. Ethics complaints have been thrown at her, without any resolution because everyone is so afraid to cross her even above her. It's a very interesting dynamic to be a part of. Since this will continue to be ongoing, your best bet as a customer is to move on and attempt to remove yourself from this terrible system until the company starts investing in it's frontline leadership and employees, and removes those people that make the environment truly toxic and hostile.
She even hired her frat sister to report to her. Little known fact. Shelly HATES her. Enjoy the terrible service in Kansas City until this is resolved.
