Wan to give 0 stars! Bought two phones from 2 different people both in Melbourne. I filed a report immediately and a couple of days later they emailed back saying that they can't get in touch with the sellers and the sellers are suspended instead of not allowed to sell anything on there again. I lost $1310 in one day and they couldn't even help with contacting the seller. The only suggestion theybhave was to contact my bank. The two sellers below can not be tdusted on changed their name from leearthur to godisgreat1274 as soon as money was transferred. The people from Carousell were of no help whatsoever.Don't buy from this website no matter what.
Guys, i am just going to help you to save some time before you spend hours listing your items to sell. Carousell is marketed to you as an app to helpp you sell your 2nd hand stuff, but all it is going to do is after you spend hours listing your stuff it is just going to ban your account for no reasons, with zero support from the customer service. Just read the rest of the reviews here and you will see this is not an isolated case.
Do not use this service - it is an absolute scam & they will rip you of all your money. The company will take no responsibility and deny any wrong doing - despite me being out of pocket almost $1000.
Many sellers on Carousel are scammers because they can get away with it as the site is not policed.
They advertise items such as mobile phones very cheap and encourage you into paying for it using an insecure form of payment. Then they stop contact and the item never arrives.
No way to get your money back.
No way to directly contact anyone in Carousel for assistance.
No way to talk to Carousel staff.
When you report an incident through their messaging system nothing happens.
Even if you were smart enough to pay via PayPal and mark payment for goods to get your buyer protection it takes 3 weeks to get your money back.
My experience is not a one off. I have witnessed scores of scammers on Carousel. Even one that scammed me yet Carousel did nothing despite multiple reports and complaints. The scam account is hence still active.
There are a few genuine sellers but many of the listings are months old as the system does not automatically purge old listings.
This site is hence HIGH RISK! FORGET THIS SITE!
It's so difficult to use this app because you cannot narrow down the search to your preferred location and simply chat with the seller. What happened?
As a seller I was targeted for no reason to bring down my listing, all i can think of is I BLOCKED 1 of their staff as he kept harassing me to let him try out his voucher. Luckily i dont like to sell here as most buyers are cheapskates and as a genuine seller, not a good marketplace, this site best only for dumping anything that you do not want.
Scammed. Not secured. No user protection or follow up from the website. Would not recommend using. A few false reports is enough to get your account restricted.
Hi guys, please let me rant. I am so so so pissed off right now. It all happened earlier this morning, around 3:40am until now. I havent sleep okay. I cant accept of what had just happened to me.
I have been attacked by a few suspicious account while I was busy listing my items I wanna sell off.
Been loyal with this app for 5 years now, (got 89 reviews of 5/5 ratings from both sellers and buyers ;) have never had a single issues until just now. Just after I reported issues regarding the fraudulent attempt to my account then out of the blue, my account has been suspended. After all the hard work on writing those detailed descriptions, ( yes i love writing down long descriptions) Oh my god. It was so unfair!
Ive spent almost 3 days to get nice shots of photos, and try to get some interesting ideas on how to attract buyers and now it all went down the drain! I'm telling you my friend, put yourself in my shoes and see how pissed you are. I am the midst of looking for some cash, this my side business. I am no longer working because of the Covid and Carousell did this to me without any inquiries or any warning notice. It is such a shame! Lousy management team you are!
I am terribly frustrated and I need to CURSE right now. I am in the need of cash, i mean fast cash to get thru over this pandemic. Not gonna lie this app were reliable and used to be very helpful to me, but now reading at all the hatred from the ex-users i think i'm gonna say the same thing too GO TO HELL Carousell. BYE!
I just received an email from the support team, if they can even be called that that I was harassing other users on carousell. All because a seller offered me a $3 discount in the late evening if I drove across the country to his house before the day was done, so naturally I called him crazy because why on earth would I drive across Singapore to save $3 and waste more on gasoline?
Harassing? Really? My Carousell account, tsuikyit has over 50 5 star reviews for a reason. I didn't get to this point by being toxic and abusive on the site.
It's unbelievable how many nutcases are on Carousell and even more how the support team treats those who boost listings like royalty and those like me who are strictly free users, like scum of the earth.
If anything, all it takes is for a new competitor to come into town before Carousell wakes up and makes serious changes. With how they're running the show it's obvious that money is their main focus, rather than giving second hand items a new life.
Search up anything and you'll be bombarded with ads instead of what you're looking for.
And trust me, with how I'm being treated as a user and their support being is hit or miss, I'm making the transition to just cough up more money and buy my things brand new elsewhere.
I'm not going to support an online marketplace with behaviour that clearly pressures people to boost listings if they want to be given special treatment.
Again, look up my Carousell profile by the name of tsuikyit if you're doubtful of what I claim. Drop me a message on one of my listings if you're curious in any way and I'll be more than happy to talk. It's just so frustrating that a company has the gall to stealthily have a system in place where free users have to abide by the rules, and those who pay up for Carousell Coins (which expire, by the way!) can do anything without any consequences.
Website told me there was nothing they could do after I was scammed by a user. No user protection or follow up from the website. Would not recommend using.
Some things are sold for SO cheap but recently buyers can't seem to accept it & complain about it. It's like they only want to buy things that are only $1.
I bought an item from Carousell on a site for janinemiqui. I was asked to transfer money directly into her bank account. As it was a small amount, despite being cautious, I transferred the money on 20th December 2020. Despite contacting the seller many times, the item did not arrive. It was unfortunate that the item I had ordered was something I really wanted, the small cost was secondary. The only way to communicate was by chat, and then, just after Christmas, nothing. I kept trying to contact the seller and eventually contacted Carousell complaints. They were sympathetic but apparently have little control over the seller. Eventually, after sending another unanswered chat, I threatened legal action. My goods arrived having been posted 3 days before despite the seller telling me (by chat) that the parcel had been sent two weeks ago. I won't be doing any dealings with this particular seller and warn anyone reading this to be extremely careful. I will have second thoughts about the whole Carousell organisation.
I had heard this was a great platform to buy and sell preloved items. I went ahead and uploaded a roughly 8 items of clothing for sale all under $10. I received a couple of likes immediately which I thought promising. Then nothing. I just kept getting notifications to come back and upload some more things. Even when I browsed to see if I would be interested in buying anything, there were so many listing to look at but they were all $#*! i. E just ads from users to come check out there profile and do you want to swap etc. When I could find actual items for sale they were asking for ridiculous prices - $45 for a used t-shirt? Seriously? I left it for a couple months forgetting that I had even listed anything and just last week i got a notification and an email saying they were going to hide my listings because I had not been active for a long time. They said if I log in, it would reset and the listings would remain active. So I did, I logged in and liked a few items. Today (a week since that email) I received another email saying that all my items have been hidden due to inactivity. I give up - what a complete and utter waste of time!
I recently opened an account mainly for selling used stuffs on carousell. Carousell is a great app to let go of preloved items and even sell new stuffs. Unfortunately selling on carousell has been quite an uninteresting experience due to buyers who despite sellers mentioning no bargaining/fixed price, still try to ask for lower price. Things sold on carousell are already cheap! So cheap! Sellers cant even get profits from it. Plus buyers eventhough I have a few times asked them to rate me (a feature that would let you give seller a good - smiley / bad - sad emoji) they have all failed to do so. This doesnt help other people in the carousell community to learn which sellers/buyers are good/honest so that they can choose who to deal with (which is difficult to do when dealing online). If u want to sell on carousell, do know what kind of market place u are entering, most people buying there are cheap skates. For me its just a place to get rid of stuffs for more space rather than gaining profits if unless u are using it as a platform for an already established shop/online shop.
My ad was removed for duplicates. But it wasn't a duplicate as I simply removed an old non-performing ad with a new one. And they seemed it like a crime. Does it make sense at all?
I purchased an iPhone 7 128GB RED from the Australian based user 'heyitsfaby'. Carousell had VERIFIED this user. Money was transferred directly into the bank account of the user, however the product has never been recieved. Not long after the money was transferred the account was been suspended. This was A SCAM.
I tried to get into contact with Carousell, sending them dozens of emails about this situation. Not only have Carousell, failed to reply, they continue to VERIFY users who are fraudulent, and create vicious scams.
My situation is not uncommon. This has happened to thousands of young online shoppers in the past year and it is unacceptable. Carousell need to have stricter guidelines and policies in place that protect consumers. At the moment it is a mere fact sheet about how to beware of dodgy dealers which fails to be both enforceable and effective.
AVOID carousell at all costs. Stick to ebay or amazon or other online shopping sites that have measures in place to protect customers.
I am a subscriber of their pro business account service. However when I emailed in to enquire about the absence of a feature (which allows you to disable carousell's protection for payment mode) that all other subscriber seem to enjoy, I was met with incredulously incoherent responses from their staff, Lay.
Over a period of two months since I raised my issue, Lay communicated the following:
1) Carousell's protection is default and cannot be disabled even though the option to do so is there
2) When evidence was provided to contradict point 1), he suggested the typical software fix which involves restarting your PC/phone or changing browsers. These did not help.
3) When I feedback about point 2), Lay went back to talk about point 1)
4) This went around in circles where the final straw came when Lay suggested I check with Apple store on this. WTH does Apple HAS TO DO WITH CAROUSELL'S ISSUE?
5) Feeling pissed off, I asked for a refund for the payment I have made for my subscription but was dump with a typical cut & paste wall of text which states that it is non-refundable.
Each nonsensical reply from Lay took 5 DAYS.
Now, you offered a service but did not manage to deliver it completely. And when the customer asks for a refund/partial refund, you said no. Does that make Carousell a sammer company by itself?
Pay for their service at your own risk.
If you're Singapore based this would be the perfect app. People local to Singapore get lots of followers and seem to do decently in selling and offloading their (used) items. If you're USA based or located in other Asian countries, you might have a much harder time selling. It might be months or even a year before you make your first sale. No commission though - so that's great. Not as many people know about Carousell (as proven by it's lack of presence on SiteJabber!), you won't get as many followers, and because there's no consumer protection (essentially, this is merely a site to facilitate buyers and sellers to deal amongst themselves - there's no return policy or buyer protection program), buyers are probably more weary of purchasing anything on this site. If you can do cash on delivery locally, it's probably a safer bet. Beware though - there are PLENTY of scammers on this site who will say they want to buy your goods, pretend to be in your locale, but end up being a scammer from distant foreign country. The telltale signs are if they ask for your bank account details, full name, home address, telephone number, and for some reason want to discuss matters with you off the Carousell chat system to skirt detection. Do not fall prey to these scammers. Carousell has suggested methods of trading goods - follow those.
I have much faith in this app, and hope it does wonders in the future. But until they up their game on customer service, include more categories (perhaps a wedding section heh?) and introduce buyer and seller protection, much like Tradesy perhaps, it's success will merely be limited to Singapore. Nice touch with the promotional features on Facebook and Instagram etc.
Fake app. Messed up staff making bull$#*! advertisements. Don't bother. Cause they suspend you for no reason. So childish their staffs tsk tsk
Email to carousell on tuesday the 2nd and untill now the 5th on friday NO reply from them at all!
Worst customer service ever!
Update: I received their reply on the 8th oct.
Answer: Yeah look you've probably been scammed. Same thing happened to me except the guy sent something in the post so I got excited, but instead of the iPhone I bought he sent me a $10 pair of reading glasses from the post office.
