They are the most dishonest company, we order a motor for $750, and when we view the motor we realized it was to big for what we need, we didn't touch or unpack the motor and talk to the delivery guy that we want to returned, he was OK and we sign the return form, when I email the company about the situation they stated that they with refund $320 until they received the motor back, a week later I ask what happen with the rest or the refund and this is what they said back and forward:
"" CarMonkey: That is all your getting back the transaction is completed. You were charged the shipping back and partial cost of the shipping we spent to send this motor to you.
Me: SO you are telling me that you are charging me $445 for that, are you insane, this is a robbery I want my refund
CarMonkey:: Knock your self out. You were told before that you were being charged the shipping back and restocking fee. ""
Is more like 2 to maybe 3 weeks cause I still haven't received anything. Customer service is HORRIBLE. They make you wait on the line and after 20 to 30 minutes they just hang up on you, no accident because I've call several times and the same thing. The only thing I hope is that when I do get my engine I have no problems with it. NEVER AGAIN!
I wish I had read the reviews! They sent us a motor that was junk. Said they sent a new one but it was "lost" refused to give out tracking number. Now I paid to have the first one installed for nothing. I have to start over, we wasted so much time and so much money. NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM!
You don't even deserve a 1 star rating. Rude and very unprofessional. The man said he didn't even care if I got my refund back. Beware of this scam artist!
ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE ORDERED WHAT WAS SUPPOSED TO BE A GU2 REAR AXLE AND RECEIVED A GT4. CANNOT RUN THE 4WD TILL I GET THE MATCHING RING AND PINION NOW. CALLED AND WAS TOLD THEY DID SEND THE WRONG PART AND DIDN'T EVEN HAVE GU2 AXLE I NEEDED. OBVIOUSLY PULLED THE DIF COVER, CAN WE NOT COUNT OR WHAT, MONKEYS IS RIGHT, WOULD NOT SUGGEST BUYING PARTS FROM THESE PEOPLE.
We agree this axle was for a 1980 model GU2 when you had called we looked up and verified the wrong part was sent out, upon further investigation due to the age and location the correct part was supposed to be in we found that this axle had been sent, we offered a full refund and free shipping of the incorrect axle back, the customer stated "That aint gonna work, I will keep this axle" We explained the ratio was incorrect and did not want to burden him with this task of having to regear the front axle on his truck, again offered a full refund and offered free shipping back. This customer chose to keep the axle. We attempted everything to make this right. These mistakes are not common and happen few and far between, we are truly sorry the wrong part got sent out but we did offer a 100% money back option, you simply declined this.
Wrong part shipped and charged restocking fee and shipping both directions for a total loss of 420.00. At the end of it all some how the blame was left on us!
I recently ordered a used motor from CarMonkeys for a 1998 S-10. I paid almost $1200 for the motor plus another $185 for residential shipping. When the motor arrived it was caked in mud and dirt, had bent pulleys, etc. Overall it looked horrible and there is no way I could or would accept it or trust that it would actually run once I installed it, keep in mind you only have 30 days to return it. It honestly looked like it had been set outside on the ground for a couple of years before being shipped. You can find these motors from $300 to $800 almost anywhere, I ordered from CarMonkeys because they offered a 5 warranty on parts and said the motor was in good running condition. That is not what I received, not even close. When I called about the motor and told them I would not accept it, I then got hit with over $500 in charges to return it. So basically, once all is said and done, I just paid $500+ for nothing but a horrible experience. Their customer service did not care, said it was my fault for not accepting it (the very first thing they said) and I should have known that it would not be "perfect" since it was an old motor. I never asked for perfect nor did I expect it. But I did expect good running condition, not the condition it was in. Admittedly I got a little upset on the phone after being told it was my fault, but seriously? For $1200 you would expect a little better than what I received. Keep in mind before you buy that if you receive a POS then it will be your fault and you will still end up paying a large amount of money while ending up with nothing.
How can I write a review if they don't answer their phone or emails?
I've called 37 times and never was able too speak to anyone.
And they want my business?
I don't think so!
If you do business with these clowns or should I say monkeys you deserve what you get for not listening. They make it look good with there useless warranty. I received a motor from them that looked like they found on the side of the road. The looks of it prompted me and my license mechanic to open the oil pan. Found a broken spring and metal shavings. Took it to the machine shop and they found a bent crank, burnt bearings on crank and connecting rods. Crank journal warped. After I told monkeys about it and sent an invoice to them from the machine shop they still wanted me to have a license mechanic install the engine. This is crazy to pay a license mechanic to install a useless motor into your vehicle and just keep paying more money for something that you know is not going to work. Just like the other reviews they are rude, do not answer the phone or emails and just string you along until you are totally frustrated and go away. PayPal also was no help. They wanted me to ship the motor back to monkeys from Hawaii at my expense. One of the reasons I purchased the motor from them is because of the free shipping in the continental US. They sent it to the west coast and I paid for the rest of the way. Now PayPal wants me to reassemble the motor and ship it all the way back to NJ at my expense, much more than the motor cost me. Stupid, Stupid, Stupid I must be for not listening to the other reviews. I'm not doing it, all I can do is lick my wounds. Beware, Beware, Beware people, go somewhere else.
This company is the worst company I have ever dealt with I talked to two people first person was Brian a complete idiot his Verbal Judo is good but his delivery is the worst on Earth don't trust don't do business you'll lose your money you'll get crap and you'll never get your money back they have this restocking fee and somehow it never worked out for me also I talked to Henry another idiot lying cheating hurting untrustworthy idiot stay away I warned you they're bad shouldn't be in business
Personal insults to the reps that helped you with this order? You had ordered incorrectly, we corrected the situation and issued a full refund?

To me
You ordered a run and tested used transmission, it is 30 years old, it will show signs of ware. It was run and tested and has a 1 year warranty on it. No mistake was made.
MY RESPONSE:
Ok well then we just paid almost $1000. 00 for a junkyard transmission. We are an auto repair shop we could have gotten a transmission in much better shape than the one sent for a fraction of the price. I am requesting now a full refund with no stocking fee or freight fee, Or I will be disputing this with my credit card company. I wish I had looked at your reviews before purchasing this transmission that looks NOTHING remotely like what was pictured. Your company has nothing but horrible and very similar reviews to as my issue.

To me
The transmission was run and tested and removed. It is backed with a 1 year warranty on a 30 year old transmission. If you wish we can arrange the shipping back but that will be deducted from the refund as well as a 20% restocking fee. We did nothing wrong here, you ordered and thought it was a remand when it clearly states the product is used. You can file a dispute if you like the credit card company will side with us as you agreed to our terms and conditions, you can not make your own up as you see fit.
We sell run and tested used auto parts, under each picture it will state "This is not an actual picture of product", we stand by the our rep here, where we did nothing wrong here, you ordered a used part and received a used part which was run tested and backed with a warranty.
WHY DO BUSINESS WITH A COMPANY THAT WON'T ANSWER THE PHONE. CALLED TWICE 8-26-15 ON RING HOLD MORE THAN 30 MIN. CALLED AGAIN 8-27-15, PHONE RANG AND RANG FOR 15 MIN. TRIED AGAIN STILL LEFT HOLDING THE RING.
NOT GOOD BUSINESS ETHICS.
This company is a total rip off. DO NOT BUY BUYER BEWARE! Bought engine came in And was Horrible I wish I could post pictures. Engine was DRAINING oil out of this diesel fuel pump broken, yes pump should not have even came on, but was broken through block from dragging ground busted through skid. Even had to pay Osha to come and do clean up. Carmonkey charged me 20% restocking and charged me to ship back. Total cost over 700$! This company is crooked and 30 day no hassle return is a joke they wouldn't take back this piece of garbage Diesel engine... This is not a company but nothing less than a back yard junk yard! Do not buy do not buy do not buy!
I have a 1990 MERCEDES BENZ MERCEDES 300D and I want to buy Transaxle for it. I only have a very low budget so I should get the cheapest offer. I went to online... searched on Google and finally found Car Monkeys. I got what I need here. High quality used Transaxle for my Mercedes at a cheap price. Thanks guys!
Carmonkeys had a little trouble shipping the tranny in the first place, because (their explanation) the tranny that they intended to ship to me failed testing and they had to find another one. Once the tranny shipped, it arrived timely, and they were helpful (as well as UPS) in getting it loaded into my vehicle. This particular tranny is a CVT and is very heavy. It took me some time to install the tranny, but now that it is done, it performs like a new one. This tranny has failed previously, and the tranny was never the same (slippage) until it finally failed in a couple years. With Carmonkeys, they offer a 5 year warranty which is the best that I have found, and the tranny has not had any problems.
I consider the slight problems up front actually to be the work of a reputable business. I would much rather that they be honest with me than sending me junk. I do not have any experience with returning an item for warranty work to this business, but that may not ever need to happen.
I would recommend Carmonkeys. They are inexpensive, offer a better warranty, appear to have very good quality control, and communicated effectively and honestly even when they knew I was not going to like what they had to say.
I call every day, 3 times a day and never get to talk to a person.
Website looks professional, but customer service extremely poor.
We have locations across the country with customer service reps answering from 8am to 8pm Eastern, I am not sure why you could not get through.
Worst customer service experience I've had buying a part online in my life. They committed to a day the part I ordered would be delivered "at the latest." When it didn't get there, I called in to get tracking information. It wasn't even on a truck yet. When I told the rep that was unacceptable and that I make sure my online reviews of my experience said as much, he told me he was cancelling my order and issuing a full refund because "it was in the best interest of the company" not to do business with someone who was threatening to post negative reviews online. I asked to speak with someone that might be able to accept my complaint and he told me he's the "manager, so there's nobody above him for me to talk to." After summarizing that they were refusing to do business with me despite already paying for the product and having a sales contract in place before I make my submission to the Better Business Bureau, he puts me on hold for ten minutes. Comes back on and shortly says your order is estimated to be there no earlier than next Monday (one week after they had originally told me it would be here at the latest). Awesome. Don't deal with this place. It's a rinky dink parts shop in New Jersey masquerading as an online parts giant. Their stock trades publicly for $0.02/share over-the-counter. Go to Autozone.
I ordered a 5 year warranty manual transmission. Received it strapped to a pallet with black plastic around it. Looks like a kid did it. I unwrapped it and first thing I checked was the shifter and changing gears. It will only shift into 1st and 2nd gear and its a 5 speed trans, Yay. So I emailed them about the issue and they claimed it had to be installed before it would change gears. Daaaaa I'M not installing a non working trans into my car. I have raced cars for the SCCA many years and have worked on many cars and the first thing you check after rebuilding a trans is a bench test shifting of all the gears. So I get a call from one of the staff after exchanging emails and he is a total jerk to me on the phone over talking, interrupting and yelling at times. Telling me I dont know what I'M doing and if I dispute the credit card charge they will get the 20% restock fee because I agreed to the terms. It got to a point of him yelling so much I hung up on him. CarMonkeys are exactly that, more like 20% ScamMonkeys. Dont waste your time or money. Check out the shipment pic.
This is false. The calls are recorded and can be made available. This customer has not tested the transmission but rather claims by moving the shifter on the pallet the part is bad, we have a video of this transmission in the vehicle being tested. The transmission shifted into all gears forward and reverse. The customer stated he would like to return the part, we explained this is fine he would need to cover the return shipping and 20% restocking fee due to the return not being in our error but rather than proceeding with a return he threatened a dispute. We stand by our decision on this one, we run and test 100s of transmissions a week, we back everything we sell with a 1 or 5 year warranty, this customer who claims to have worked on race cars thought he bought a remanufactured unit and not a used unit and that is where the problem lays. He tried to strong arm us and we stood up to him so he resorts in writing then petty reviews online. We stand ready and will not be strong armed by persons such as this who attempt to bash us because they are having buyers remorse as they misunderstood what they were buying.
Sent me bad moter promised a refund which was not enough very rude hung up in my face there just taking people's money and sending them crap
We did not sell you a "moter" and if you return a product you may have been charged the return shipping and restocking fee? But you would have had to agree to that before a return happened. We are a little confused by this review.
I ordered a rear axle assembly for my Tacoma. When it arrived and was installed it was in worse shape than the one I replaced. When I called to let them know they said they were going to contact my mechanic to get the details and call me right back. They did not. My mechanic suggested that I get rid of the truck so I did but still had the original axle. I contacted CarMonkey again because I still had not heard from them and told them the situation and asked if they were interested in the old axle. The customer service person told me I was Insain. I wanted to ask where he had been trained in customer service but it was obvious he was not. I paid $1,500 for a replacement axle and $600 to have it installed and CarMonkey wanted me to pay an additional $600 to have it removed so I could send it back and they would replace it and I could then spend another $600 to have that one installed and hope it worked. I understand they cannot refund the money as I do not have the vehicle anymore but to tell me to spend thousands of dollars more to fix the faulty part they sent me or call me Insain for asking if they wanted the old axle is not good customer service. I will recommend no one buy from them simply because of the poor customer service.

Answer: This is normal, due to a high rate of fraudulent transactions the company has imposed security measures to defend against this. We ask for copies of the ID and credit card when there are discrepancies between the billing address and what the credit card merchant has on file for you. We also request the photo ID and credit card when there is an excessive distance between the billing and shipping address, as in shipping from one state to another.
Answer: If you call in, have your order number ready and a representative will get that for you, if not check your email as the tracking number is emailed to you as well, also check the spam folder just incase.
Answer: We are unable to provide your tracking information here without your order number or full name, however depending on where you are in the country orders usually ship within 2 business days, after that it would vary how many travel days it would take to reach you depending where you are located. If you wish to find out more about your specific order please call in and speak to a customer service rep.
Answer: A reputable online retailer would send the customer an immediate receipt of order, then follow up with "your order has shipped" email, and then one with the tracking number. A reputable company would answer their phone and return message no later than a few hours. Communication would do wonders for your company.
Answer: We sell hundreds of transmissions, engines, rear ends, and transfer cases a month. We do not force anyone to write reviews, we try to keep everything running smoothly. We stand behind all of our products with either a 1 or 5 year warranty.
CarMonkeys has a rating of 2.6 stars from 100 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with CarMonkeys most frequently mention customer service, credit card and year warranty. CarMonkeys ranks 64th among Auto Parts sites.
This customer attempted to defraud the company and is angry that they were caught. They placed an order waiting until the shipment was preparing to ship and filed a chargeback, the shipment was stopped and a refund in full was issued. The company would rather not risk losing the $2200 motor to a pair of scammers. They even tried to convince the company that since the one customer was a nurse she would never do such a thing and we should just send the motor. Their argument was laughable.
