I ordered a used engine, and once installed, it showed low compression. I contacted car monkeys to discuss the situation and they told me that I was out of luck. The vehicle never left the mechanic shop. They advertise run tested and quality engines. That is a load of bull crap. I would never recommend these guys. So much for standing by what you sell!
I bought a transmission and engine for my 92 explorer and both looked like they came from the bottom of a lake. When calling them and discussing the situation they basically told me to $#*! off... if I ever go to jersey I will definitely be whooping someone at this places $#*!!
I am very pleased that I found Car Monkeys website today. They seem pays attention to details and offers a quality product and a good price all at the same time. As well as an outstanding warranty policy. I will buy used car engines and transmissions from here if the need arise.
Ordered a replacement engine had it shipped to my mechanic also bought the extended warranty. It lasted less that 200 miles. Contacted them by email and they said no problem
They would refund the full purchase price and send a bill of lading to have the engine picked up at no cost to me.
Surprise, Surprise the engine is still waiting to be picked up and I can get no response from emails or phone calls. Looks like a trip to the lawyer is in store.
Restoring a Toyota Avalon, I bought an engine from carmonkeys. Seemed leggit since they "test" their engines prior to shipping as the web site says. Also the 5 year gaurantee added creditbility.
DON'T BE FOOLED!
After contacting them about an engine that was shipped to and installed by professional mechanics, the rep gave a list of conditions that had to be met for a gaurantee and for a defective product. Problem is, they made no conditions prior to the sale. The shipment came with only a packing list. Oh, if the engine is bad, they don't tell you that you have to pay for the return of the item, which could cost hundreds of dollars. Then they want you to prove that you have a bad engine by requiring a professional diagnosis, which can cost hundreds more if the mechanic has to go into the engine.
Just do yourself a favor and have the engine rebuilt or go to another vendor. It will cost less in the long run and you will avoid having to dealing with deplorables.
I needed engine replacement for my Ford Mustang. Ive did some searches and the best combination of price and warranty was offered by CarMonkeys. I placed order online and then called them to confirm engine mileage. It was delivered in 5 days and my mechanic quickly put it in. It was done two months ago and there are no issues.
I love this shop. Clean, efficient service and always competitive repair prices with no B. S. and no pressure. Intelligent mechanics and no surprises when the bill arrives (in fact it's usualy less than what's quoted). I highly recommend them.
This was a total rip off for me.
We expected an engine like the picture on line and receive a filthy old engine that I am unsure will even run. Rust in the water pump. Corrosion in the oil. To return it I would have to fork out about $1000. 00 dollars. WHAT A BUNCH OF BULL.
I bought a rear axle assembly for 2004 Chevy astro. Everything I had read, it was a bolt in rear axle assembly. It showed up at my door step, it had literally just been pulled out of a mud puddle. Dust covers rusted thorough, brake lines smashed, rotors rusted and covered in mud. You can still see the water the on the rotors to were in was buried in mud. The ring and pinion gear looks as if it's going to break right off, there's so must rust damage to it.
There customer service is horrible, they are now telling me to return, I have to pay full shipping and a restocking fee. Restocking fee is advertised. But they say, return freight is pre-paid.
So now for the mistake of going to theses jokers, I'm going to be loosing 300$ just to sent a garbage part back, so the can re-sell it to someone else and try to rip them off too. I will never buy from here again and I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. If I could have put zero stars I would have.
Here I found that the efficient workers tried their best and solve my problem in a very short time that astonished me much. Every person was so well behaved and they were exporter.
They also charged less as much as they can.
I’ve ordered replacement of my Audi A4 engine from CarMonkeys. In the beginning I was skeptical about used engine but the price and warranty (5 years) have changed my mind. Transaction was smooth, engine shipped quickly and my mechanic did his job. Car runs again and I’ve saved couple thousand $.
I had warranty issue with the Passat engine that Ive purchased year ago. I supplied my mechanic statement saying what is wrong and new used engine was sent for free. Swapping it took one day, mechanic reconnected everything carefully and car is on the road again. Good service and good warranty.
I ordered an engine for a 1989 for F-150. Using this site has proven to be a terrible decision. The engine they sent is incomplete, I have been on hold with customer service for the past 45 min and they hung up on me without answering twice already.
I have just received an engine I ordered from Thomas, on the phone he was extremely helpful and polite. He told me he would ship it out via Fedex priority and indeed it did get here within 2 days of me ordering even though he said it usually would take about 4 days he would rush my order, I did not believe he would but he really came through. Engine was installed without any problems and is running great. Glad I chose carmonkeys.com and glad that Thomas helped me out!
Bought used transmission for Mercedes 2001. There were few options I wasn’t sure so I had to call Car Monkeys support. All was explained nicely and I’ve made my decision. Freight arrived week later. No complains – all is working fine. Good, inexpensive merchandise.
I seriously overpacked my car's trunk on a recent camping trip, and managed to bend something when putting a little too much force into slamming it down. Ian took care of it in under an hour, and charged exactly what he estimated. Very pleased!
Ordered an engine from these guys at midnight, had an email at 8:30 their time that said the part was "test and failed" with no more in stock. I highly doubt they warehoused a single bad engine and tested it within minutes of arriving at work. More likely is they are selling products they don't actually have on hand.
Called customer service and after getting hung up on once (yeah I was upset) they said it would take 4 days to refund. After emailing them it showed back up in my account.
These guys suck, sorry, but what would you expect from NJ? Too many salvage yards in California, Florida and Texas to do business with to mess with these guys.
It’s not easy to find good used Jeep Wrangler engine and I’ve spent few days looking for it locally and online. Finally I’ve decided on CarMonkeys and now after delivery I couldn’t be happier. I’ve got it delivered in 4 days and did replacement immediately with my friend’s help. Happy to report that car running again and I can enjoy the rest of the summer!
Replacement transmission for the Chevy a have come in a few days. It was old, over 15 years old but it works well. I am happy to have additional 5 years warranty in a case something fails. No problems so far, car is running strong and transmission is smooth.
Love the customer service here. Most recent experience Saturday September 28. Went in for a new windshield wiper. Mr Padilla sold it to me then rushed outside, oiled it so it wouldn't stick, installed it and cleaned the windshield! Without us even asking. Best customer service of all time!
Answer: The Wyckoff location is a call center. That item is not located in NJ it would be coming out of our warehouse in OR.
Answer: Every question emailed gets responded to, more than likely the response hit your spam folder. As far as the the calls go we are open Mon-Fri 8am-8pm est
Answer: This is normal, due to a high rate of fraudulent transactions the company has imposed security measures to defend against this. We ask for copies of the ID and credit card when there are discrepancies between the billing address and what the credit card merchant has on file for you. We also request the photo ID and credit card when there is an excessive distance between the billing and shipping address, as in shipping from one state to another.
Answer: If you call in, have your order number ready and a representative will get that for you, if not check your email as the tracking number is emailed to you as well, also check the spam folder just incase.
Answer: We are unable to provide your tracking information here without your order number or full name, however depending on where you are in the country orders usually ship within 2 business days, after that it would vary how many travel days it would take to reach you depending where you are located. If you wish to find out more about your specific order please call in and speak to a customer service rep.
Answer: A reputable online retailer would send the customer an immediate receipt of order, then follow up with "your order has shipped" email, and then one with the tracking number. A reputable company would answer their phone and return message no later than a few hours. Communication would do wonders for your company.
Answer: We sell hundreds of transmissions, engines, rear ends, and transfer cases a month. We do not force anyone to write reviews, we try to keep everything running smoothly. We stand behind all of our products with either a 1 or 5 year warranty.

This is completely false, we have the lengthy emails going back and forth, You did not meet the basic requirements of the warranty, Here is the same link that was emailed to you dozens of times and is available with your invoice from us stating everything that needs to be done to this motor. http://carmonkeys.com/t/free-5-years-unlimited-miles-warranty The customer, in this case, emailed us the following when we asked for an invoice showing what work was done to fulfil our basic tune-up requirements, "As for the work order, it only indicates the installation of the engine. No work was done on the engine other than just installing it."-Fernando. This customer has yet to provide any invoice showing it was professionally installed, there is not even proof oil was put into this motor prior to starting it. Also, a warranty claim would have covered shipping of the replacement motor, if a customer wishes to return the motor for a refund within the 30 day period depending on the situation the customer may have to pick up the shipping bill.
