Bought a transmission from them $1500... Arrived at my mechinc's shop he installed it and it didn't work. They said they would send a new on once they got the old one back... I'm now out $500 for labor 1500 for a transmission and still have a truck that won't go. Oh and will have to pay another 550 for labor with the new one.Don't ever use them ever unless you want to just give your money away
Shipping was a little slow and confirmation was difficult to get, but after emailing and leaving a message, I was called back with info and tracking # was sent. To be fair I ordered this the week of Independence Day and they gave their employees the week off to be with family (and it wasn't noted on the website). Part took just under 2 weeks to arrive but was worth the wait for the price! Thank you Car-Monkeys! AS STATED GOOD USED PARTS WITH A 5 YEAR WARRANTY! Thanks again Max Henderson for contacting me and following up on my order!
When I bought my car, I noticed the battery did not have an expiration date punched out on it. I called this store and a tech. Said to bring it over and he would test it and test my alternator-- for free.
Thanks for excellent customer service!
Bought a transmission for 99 dodgeram with 5yr warranty, a year later the transmission goes out, paid almost 1100 for it, now I call 8 times a day get know answer, figures after reading there reviews, going to file a complaint with the BBB, and have them served just to get a response out of these monkeys, stay the hell away from this company
I wish I would have seen these reviews before I dealt with the company. Company sent a broken transmission. Transmission acted up on day 1 and broke on day 2 Cost $500.00 to have the transmission put in and another $250.00 to have it dropped and sent back. Yes they offered to send me another transmission, but I could see where it was going. Didn't want to take the risk of the same process happening. Had to pay $287.00 to ship it back to them and then had to pay a 20% restocking fee. Company doesn't want to take ownership and they have an answer for everything. I will cut my losses and chunk it up to another poor decision. Thanks Car Monkeys for excellent customer service.
Kent,
I am sorry the transmission you purchased failed, however, we did test the part here, it worked fine, you installed it and it worked fine, the next day it failed. We have no way of knowing when a product will fail in such a manner, I see that they did offer a replacement at no cost to you, however, you chose to return this product at your cost. I am sorry we did not meet your expectations.
My Toyota had a problem with transmission, it stopped shifting properly and I had to replace it or rebuild it. I’ve decide to purchase used transmission from this website and didn’t made mistake! Delivered engine was in good condition and was easily replaced by my mechanic. I’ve just wanted to share my experience.
I ordered an engine from this site that supposedly carried a 5-year warranty and was guaranteed to be in "satisfactory running condition." It arrived broken and inoperable. After trying to contact someone from the company for 2 weeks, I finally received a one line response via email stating that none of the problems I mentioned were covered under the warranty for which I paid extra. That aside, one should avoid them simply because they may soon be out of business according to their recent quarterly reports.
"Car Monkeys Group filed its 10-K on Oct 13,2015 for the period ending Jun 30,2015. In this report its auditor, Pritchett, Siler & Hardy, P. C., gave an unqualified opinion expressing doubt that the company can continue as a going concern."

I would not be surprised if this company wasn't legitimate! The manager "Brian" was just as unprofessional as his "coworker" / friend Peter who supposedly works in the parts department at ext 18... In the middle of coming to a resolution, Brian calls his friend / "coworker" peter on 3 way and they began to both use aggressive tones solely off me checking the status of my order I paid $2500 for. I advised him I will be leaving an online review due to them being unprofessional & requested a refund. So far I haven't received my part or refund. Upon calling back they would answer & hang the phone up w/of saying hello. Very unprofessional and I doubt if this company is legit. Please read other online reviews before deciding. Brian refused to let me speak to upper management, this place is a nightmare
My VW Cabrio convertible experienced some paint damage on the hood and fender. They provided excellent service, competitive pricing, timely service and a super paint job. The paint color was exact and perfectly done. The staff was courteous, friendly and exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Them.
Next time, this fraudulent company ought to pay the premium for fake reviewers that actually know how to punctuate their contractions. It's called an apostrophe, fellas. Your fake reviews would flunk any 2nd grade grammar quiz. "Im" sure you can rebuild engines about as well as you can punctuate. :)
I've been bring my car here since year 2006. I recommend all. My family and friends to bring their car here. They do fabulous jobs and they never skimp on materials or labor to rip you off. They never tell you that you need to fix more than you already need to. They're honest ppls, and how many body shops really are honest these days.
I've been calling since 8:30 a.m. to 4pm. I still haven't been able to talk to anyone. I even left a message stating my name and # and what I'm looking. This is unexceptable. I don't want anything from this site. You need to be closed down.
I have a 2002 AUDI A8 and want to buy a new Transaxle Automatic Transmission for it to replace the old one. I bought it on Car Monkeys. They offer high quality product and good price. They delivered my order on time and it was in good condition. Five stars service from start to finish!
I purchased a 1980 Oldmobile 350 Vin: R engine. Engine came late and what I received was a 1977 350 that was rusted out with slug caked in the heads with broken manifold studs. What makes matters worse when I called to tell them about the situation the person their told me that they didn't care if the got business and all we have to do is take the motor apart and clean. They also said as long as I got a comparable engine its all that matters. Which would ending up voiding the warranty. So I filed a complaint through paypal for my refund. They are the worse ever...
Sir, you've called us today about refund and we gave you the shipping address where to ship your part back. The only comment we had was that this is used part for 36-year old engine - not rebuilt and not new. It's removed from a running car and it may not be clean. Everything else is your emotional narrative that we have nothing to do with. Please calm down and return your part if you don't like it.
I was alittle worried after reading some of the reviews, but I will say this I read some reviews which stated they got a used part, well that is what this website sells. I called in and spoke to a younger sounding man named Max, he was very nice and explained what was being sold and the things I had to do, my mechanic had actually referred me to them as he ordered several parts from them and will be ordering from them again, the motor was put in and has been running fine now after 2 months, I will update if anything changes. But I have to say Max guided me in the right direction.
Thank you!
I ordered a transmission which was supposed to be knew. It was ditry/filthy, look like they just pulled it out of a car and put it on a pallet and sent it to me. I tried to send it back they refused it. Lies to my credit card company about what condition it was in and told them they sell all used parts etc. So now I'm stuck with a $1700 payment and they refused to except it through R&L.the carrier company they sent it through the bill was $695 just to ship it back. And I refused to pay for an item that I did not want. The are Frauds big time. I warn you if you know what's best. STAY AWAY
I'm blind so I'm not saying that I couldn't have made a mistake but in the order form at clearly said Chevrolet pickup 3500 I will send a transmission for a motorhome the staff refused to talk to the transmission shop in Reno Nevada so it is much more worth it for me to eat $1,000 and just buy a new one here. You definitely won't have me darkening their door again.
After looking into this, the transmission sent did come out of a motorhome, however, it was the same transmission that came out of a Chevy 3500. The customer let us know of the situation and provided a number to the "shop" when we called the number there was no answer. I am unsure why the customer is stating it was worth it to eat $1000 when he never returned the part and could have gotten a refund. This sounds fishy. Also we never knew the customer was blind however this does not change anything and is irrelevant to the sale.
I was very shocked when i received my motor and it still had spark plugs and wires on it oil pan, clutch, flywheel and had a spot that was JB welded! Could not believe they would send it like that. Called the company it was shipped from and they didnt have a clue about my order and said that they just pull motor and ship it.The guy also said that we should never have done business with someone we didnt know. They gave me another number to call. And i was informed that we had to pay to have it shipped back and 20% restocking fee even though theyre not even the ones that shipped it it was a totally different company. Beware they are buying used motors for cheaper then what you pay!
What a bunch of a holes. You order a part, confirm the order then they 1. Ignor you - don't ship it and tell you that the part didn't pass their inspections so they had to source a new one - but of course didn't email/call to tell you. 2. finally ship part and its the wrong year part and then when questions about the bait and switch, they tell you their website gives them the right to ship them whatever the hell they want because it "should work". Don't ever do business with them.
That is incorrect. The customer was sent a direct interchange for the part that they ordered, which is clearly stated on our website. The customer was absolutely not told it "should work" as he wrote in quotations, he was told it does work. This customer continues to send threatening, vulgar emails.
Car Monkeys was good at fulfilling their promise of quick shipping. Weve got our Toyota Solara engine shipped in one day and being delivered in 3! It was relatively new engine with only 65k on it. My mechanic took time to mount it properly and I am happy to say that all worked out perfect. Engine is good and car is working!

Answer: A reputable online retailer would send the customer an immediate receipt of order, then follow up with "your order has shipped" email, and then one with the tracking number. A reputable company would answer their phone and return message no later than a few hours. Communication would do wonders for your company.
