Canva is recognized for its user-friendly design tools and extensive asset library, appealing to both novice and experienced creators. However, significant concerns have emerged regarding its customer service, particularly the absence of a phone support option and difficulties in navigating the cancellation process. Many users report frustrations with billing practices, technical glitches, and inadequate responses to complaints, leading to dissatisfaction and feelings of being undervalued. Overall, while Canva's platform is praised for its functionality, the company's customer service approach appears to undermine its reputation, prompting calls for improvements in support and communication.

When I signed up for a Canva subscription, it was offered to me as a free Trial period of a month. It was with that understanding that I began. However, on July 10,2025, I received an email telling me that an attempted charge from my debit card on file was not honored. I knew that would happen because there had been unauthorized transactions in my bank account. As banks usually do when such transactions are reported, they cancelled my debit card, posted a digital debit card within 48 hours, and issued a new physical card that arrived later. The card that I had in my account was the card that was cancelled, but I had a debit card from another account, so I posted it in my account and replaced the one that had been cancelled. I thought that would have been sufficient, but on July 13, I received the same notice with a threat that if I did not make a payment by July 26,2025, my subscription would be cancelled. I checked my account and the valid card was installed, so I didn't understand how the charge was denied. In addition, I saw in my account that the Trial period would end on August 9,2025, and by that time, I would receive a payment that would more than cover the charge. However, on April 15,2025, I received yet another email with the same threat that if I didn't pay by July 26, my subscription would be cancelled. Again, I checked my account. The correct, valid card was installed. The date of expiration for my Trial remained August 9,2025. I tried to contact Canva, but I saw that they made sure that nobody could contact them directly. The email addresses were all noreply email addresses and the website offered no option for making direct contact. It was then that I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau, an option that I use all too often when companies hide from the public and disallow any direct contact from paying customers. BBB had not responded yet when I again received another identical email threat with the same date to pay stated. Again, I looked for a way to get through. I tried the Federal Trade Commission, but on July 18, once again, the same routine repeated. By that time, I was wondering if I should continue with a company that shows such blatant disregard for potential customers; I still wonder if I shouldn't just end all contact with them because that kind of behavior is intolerable if I am going to pay money for services later. Then on July 20, again, the same sort of threatening email arrived. I checked and the demand for payment on July 26,2025 was two full weeks before the date of expiration on August 9,2025. That was going too far. I prepared to post the whole history online to warn the public to keep away from such unethical, dishonest, intolerable people. I have the skills to do all that in a way that can drive the point home, and I collected all the threatening emails and screenshots of the account into two PDF files that I could easily display. I checked one last time on the website, and then I saw that there was a chat option. I hesitated to do it, but I gave it a try. Not surprisingly, the chat made all kinds of lame excuses, took no responsibility for such behavior, told me to contact my bank -- as if I hadn't done that too often already to the point that my bank was wondering what was happening -- and basically put the blame squarely on me alone. That's a convenient tactic: criminalize the victim and act as if the threatening adversary is completely within his/her rights. I won't say what I wish on them, but I won't remain silent about this outrageous fraud. I can and will present all the hard evidence and see how they feel about being stripped naked before the public. I just wish I could do that for real and not just with verbal expression. In my opinion, a firing squad would be an appropriate treatment for such hideous, immoral, and dishonest behavior, but apparently, that's what Canva thrives on. Sorry, I'm not one who forgives and forgets, just like Sweeney Todd. Behavior like that deserves to get the full treatment that Sweeney Todd gave, but I'm not that desperate. I can dream, though! Addition:
I have read many of the other reviews. I now plan to withdraw completely from Canva. If there are so many negative reviews that echo my impressions, the wise thing to do is to clear out and never look back!
This isn't the only one but it's one of the more well known ones. I'm fed up with all of the cookies, signups, and premium tier bs that I have to fight through just to get things done. What's worse the AI on google lies to you and tells you it's free and requires no sign up only for it to hold you at gunpoint and demand all your info. It's silly and very scummy.
A coworker in-advertently created ads for our dental office on my personal account on office computer. So, I had to get a free monthly to download and transfer to the office. I did not get a reminder that the membership was coming due. I forgot about it until I think the date of renewal, I logged in and tried to cancel the membership, it looked like the cancellation was accepted. Canva's account manager looks like a personal account? I thought it was cancelled an all was ok. NO, IT WAS NOT. I was charged the yearly membership and now three emails and 3 attempts to cancel, it's not super easy to find where to cancel, no support at all for this problem. My computer was not working and impossible to do on your phone app. NOT HAPPY, WITH CHARGES, NO RESPONSE TO MY EMAILS OR REQUEST TO PRO-RATE AND REFUND. I now have a $390.00 Canva account to do what? Make birthday cards for my mother? Agghh! The lack of help, support, contact information is really disappointing for such a company.
I could not figure out how to cancel. Only way to get help to cancel is through web-chat. Nothing like staring at a screen to get help because they have no customer service phone number. I cancelled the day before automatic renewal and was still forced to pay for the next month. I don't feel the site is user friendly, if it was it wouldn't be so confusing to cancel.
I was having a present time creating a video invite for a relative on mine using a 24 hr canva pro pass. I had paid for it using my debit card (70 INR). I made a last minute change after the 24 hr period and clicked download. The thing is I was using 3 "premium" assets so the bill came up to 967 INR. I assumed I could find a payment option when I clicked on download file but it just made the transaction using my cards details it had saved. No PIN no confirmation. This POS website is designed to take your money. 1/10.
Two big complaints-
1. No customer service phone number. They don't want to talk to the people who pay them or have billing questions. "Go away, just send us your money."
2. Website is difficult to navigate if you have questions that relate to stopping the money suck.
Site advertised as free trial but no mention of recurring monthly charge, terrible website, upsell if you want actual features

As an art student, I recently created a canvas presentation for my research paper using Canva, and it was an absolute game-changer!
Canva, is an easy-to-use, web-based platform that offers design tools and templates perfect for any creative project. Even as a novice, I found it incredibly user-friendly, allowing me to design with ease.
One of Canva's standout features is its vast library of design elements, including fonts, images, and illustrations. This resource allowed me to craft a visually captivating presentation that aligned perfectly with my research theme.
Canva's customization options are fantastic. I had the freedom to adjust layouts, colors, and fonts to match my personal style and academic requirements, creating a presentation that not only conveyed my research but also reflected my artistic sensibilities.
Collaboration was seamless with Canva, enabling real-time group work. Its compatibility with multiple devices and platforms made it incredibly convenient, allowing me to work from anywhere.
Canva also offers a selection of presentation animations and transitions that added a dynamic dimension to my canvas, engaging my audience effectively.
In summary, Canva is a must-try for art students and anyone looking to create visually striking presentations. Its user-friendliness, creative versatility, and customization options make it a valuable tool. Canva, thank you for turning my research into a work of art!
On 20th Dec I subscribed to Canva. I did get an invoice, but not with a GPA number. This purchase was made directly through them and NOT Google. I decided that I did not want to continue with Canva that their software was not what I was looking for.
I'm not even looking for a refund. However, after 10 emails and more to and from, they don't even read the content of my emails and keep telling me they cannot unsubscribe me and I must go through Google. Google on the other hand say I'm not subscribed to Canva through Google (which I'm aware of). But now I'm made to feel like a complete idiot from Canva who insists there is nothing they can do to unsubscribe me, that they cannot unsubscribe me incase the unsubscribe the wrong account. My gosh, I've never heard anything so bizarre.
Please can someone out there advise on where to go from here. This process has been a nightmare to say the least.
So what, am I to pay USD$9.99 per month indefinitely?!
I thought I needed to be an expert or have some decent knowledge to edit pictures, but I was terribly wrong
With Canve everybody can be a graphic designer at least a beginner one to fulfil some personal needs, and even more if you upgrade your account. Yes, for more advanced features you will need to upgrade to a paid version, which is a little bit peh... But I guess they need to make some profit in order to maintain this amazing company, right!?
My point is that Canva has made complex to be simple. I own a small business and recently I created a template for everything I need and use in my everyday business, which in the end came out as a complete redesign of my brand.
Canve saved me a lot of money. If I would hire a graphic designer to get what I did, it would probably cost me a fortune. And I believe the quality is pretty much the same because they have plenty of ready templates to choose from.
What has this business world become? Caught-throat indeed. I tried Canva and canceled within the stipulated time. To my surprise, my card was charged for $119.99 for 1yr. I disputed the charges but Canva refused to refund my money claiming that I'd agreed to subscribe for a year. No, I did not. This is an awful business practice. I guess they're in business to rip off people with no intention of doing the right thing. They are burning bridges. Words do get around.
If I could give 0 stars I WOULD! I placed an order on December 2nd for a photo album that I had spent 2 months creating and designing for my daughter. Paying for express shipping so it would arrive December 4th. December 4th nothing arrives, so I start writing emails EVERY DAY and they start answering WITH THE SAME PATRONIZING ANSWER saying how sorry they are and they were in contact with "production department" and NOT TO WORRY BLAH BLAH BLAH...they would keep me updated. Make this painful story short: DECEMBER 16TH after outraged email of mine...I finally get the DELAYED ORDER EMAIL. So, in case you can't follow: December 15 they STILL HAVE NOT SHIPPED THE PHOTOBOOK that was for a BIRTHDAY GIFT on Monday 19. I am enraged but it was too late to order a photobook print elsewhere. So at this point just feel mocked and disrespected by a bunch of INEPT, INEFICIENT, LOOSERS at the other side of the internet. It is my intention now call them and make their life miserable for making me miss my child's special gift.
Canva was an absolute nightmare. They make things look great but when designing on their site download your videos, they are completely different. Their customer support, although they pretend to care, only ask for screen recording after screen recording after screen recording and are never satisfied with what you send them. What a horrible experience. My advice is to save your money and time and steer clear from Canva.
I've used and paid for canva for several years. In the last year, not a day goes by when I canva tells me there are problems on their end. Nothing loads. I'm dead in the water. Why charge customers for crappy service? AWFUL service.
Canva has been critiqued for issues like bugs and failing to adequately preserve the formatting of PowerPoint presentations. Users have reported problems with the platform not living up to its promises in terms of functionality and reliability, particularly when it comes to converting or maintaining the integrity of PowerPoint files. Despite its wide range of features, these technical shortcomings can be significant drawbacks for those relying on it for professional or complex design tasks.
This website made me cry i am i am a student at a middle school and i had a project the required me to use some type of document i try Canva and it made me cry it kept recommending words that i had already wrote down in the same spelling do not use this website it sucks balls
I recently started using Canva and I couldn't be more impressed with its functionality and user-friendly interface. The app has made a significant impact on my daily routine, streamlining tasks and providing valuable insights. The developers have clearly put a great deal of thought and effort into creating a top-notch app that caters to its users' needs. I highly recommend Canva for anyone looking to simplify their life and increase productivity.
I was thinking about using them for print on demand, but not even going to bother. I couldn't even FIND where the print on demand part was on the website. So I went to hit the "get help" link, and it brought me to a chatbot. Gee, thanks. I'll take my biz elsewhere. Couldn't even be bothered to put in a lousy phone number.
I got charged for a year's worth of service, tried to cancel, and ended up in this endless loop where I was told I couldn't dispute the transaction because I needed to contact them. When I tried to contact them, I got an email saying they couldn't help me because there was a disputed transaction. I never got my money back, didn't get a single thing for the money whatsoever, and they literally canceled my membership with the email message, "This is goodbye." The only phone number I could find merely tells you to go to the website and then hangs up on you. I am guessing that they don't answer phone calls because that would require hiring a lot of operators to handle complaints, whereas email complaints can be bulk rejected by a computer.
Answer: That was one of my issues. No active link to cancel the free trial subscription.
Answer: There is zero support. Until they do something about it, don't begin with them. Try Snappa instead.
