We attended an all-day music festival and arrived exhausted at the hotel at 10 pm. We were told by the desk clerk and then by national representative that there was no reservation and there had never been a reservation made for us. I had the booking.com emails showing all of the information but they could not help me.
I called the booking.com agent and they reviewed my information and said they were surprised that the hotel didn't have our reservation. They said "I don't know why they didn't have your reservation. We sent it over to them a couple of different ways..."
I'm sorry, but when did the "CONFIRMED" part occur? They were apologetic and tried to find me another room but had no luck. The only other room was 10 miles away and cost "a lot more" than the room I had booked. I wound up driving the 95 miles home.
At the end of my call, the agent told me that she had cancelled the reservation and that we would not be charged for that evenings stay. Gee... Thanks!
Probably works somewhat ok for hotels in cases where they cannot rely on their own online booking facilities. However, way too bad for the holiday rentals market: I've booked in one place, 1 month later the owner of the place decided to cancel the booking, offered an option outside of booking.com (dodgy at the very best), then Booking.com began harassing me with "alternatives" nowhere near to the original booking, including the alternative that was completely outside of their system. They just wanted a quick buck on the booking and me to sort out the moronic response from the owner of the property. Never again, booking.com
I will NEVER use Booking.com again. They contract with hotels that are so unsafe and disgusting they should be shut down! I reserved an America's Best Hotel and Executive Suites In Anchorage, AK which was so bad I could NOT even stay there. This was on June 23,2021. It was a fight with the hotel to get my refund. I finally got my refund because I had taken pictures of the suite they gave me. Then I was charged $150.45 by the hotel 4 days after leaving there. Booking.com promised to take care of it, and have the $150.45 refunded immediately. We only get the run around from them as well as the hotel now. I now have to take legal action to settle the fraudulent charge. Every time you call their customer service you talk with someone in a different country, when you're fortunate enough to talk with someone.
This is not a reflection on the person providing support through booking.com but more about the whole booking.com experience. This is not the first time I've had the rug pulled out from under me with 'cancellations' from accommodation providers in cities where the booking is over the time of a big event. This time it cost me $2,100 more to get accommodation when the accommodation provider cancelled my booking 24 hours before check in, after payment has been made, claiming it was an AirBNB issue. Not happy at all. Follow up support form booking.com with this has been a big fat nothing burger!
Booking.com not a trusted web site anymore.
Wrong information about the property location & facilities.
I was a loyal customer of booking.com but my last experience in Sri Lanka has been dissapointing.
I had to cancel 2 seperate bookings the reason being not as promised while booking.
I one case I was made to pay cash in full at the venue when I was refused Wifi connection & also A/c as mentioned on my booking. Besides the location was far from what was mentioned on booking.com
Sorry to say this but the helpline till dated has not done anything about this.

I am so sorry that I didn't look for reviews on booking before actually booking through them. What is being said here is all true. They are greedy, lack care for the customers who book through them, if there are issues they direct you to the homeowners rather than dealing with the issues. I stayed in an apartment booked through them that had bed bugs. One of my kids had an allergic reaction to the bites from them and these bites turned into blisters (thankfully not into an anaphylactic shock). I didn't realize what they were until later and they told me I should have taken pictures of the insects myself and that they "inspected" the property (meaning the owner looked at the matrices). I asked them if any treatment had even been applied for bed bugs in that rental and they had nothing. It's unbelievable and super frustrating. Will never use this site again.
This site has awful customer service and offers you room upgrade for a price which is much more than presented. Try calling or using there chat for customer service and good luck at getting a response. They try to blame the issues on the property you are booking and take no responsibility of there own. Once you have given your card info good luck getting any changes.
Worst experience ever with a booking site!
Below you will see a picture of a room upgrade they offed for 6.65$ turns out it was 92$ and 42$ tax
This is a scam and fraud
I reserved a house through booking, and when I showed up, it was a residence with people living in it. Booking.com could not get a hold of the person who made the listing and refused to give me my 300 dollars back because they "never heard back from the owner of the property listed." They reportedly tried for a month and kept telling me their hands were tied until they heard back. HORRIBLE customer service.
I booked a motel with booking.com, when I got there it was awful! They refused to give back my money, I call booking.com they kept giving me the runaround, finally, they told me that could not do anything for me, after two weeks of me calling them, they told me I should have read the reviews, it had nice pictures, wish obviously were taking when the motel was open, many years ago, they don't even go and check out these properties DO NOT USE THEM! They don't honor what they advertised. These rooms have people living in, drunk people in the parking lot and the bed were never changed! Even though they say you can cancel, is not true! They still charged you and then refuse to refund your money. Find another web site, trust me don't deal with these people
We booked a house through booking.com. We paid the entire cost. The host required documents which we sent and he claimed never to receive. In turn he refused us entry causing us to get multiple hotel rooms.
When Inquiring with booking.com they admitted their messaging system messed up and still refused to pay us because the host already had our money despite us not having stayed there.
Booking.com cannot be trusted to get you into a room or refund you when their system steals your money.
Do not use booking.com

I made five attempts to book flights in Argentina, from Canada. All failed, but for two of them, Booking.com took my payment, then indicated that the booking could not be fulfilled, told me they would refund it, but that it would take 2-3 days. That seems scammy to me, since they have profited from my money for those days without providing a service.
Booked hotel in Gainesville ga ck in went to room room not fit to sleep in checked out immediately called credit card company to stop payment for 3 days said they would booking would not cancel payment I'm out over $300. Dollars and nothing I can do. Hope you enjoy your free money. Da vets need their money thanks for nothing

I've made several hotel reservations through the southwest app. It is apparently a third party setup which means booking.com is responsible. When doing so it's reset the date on me to a date that I didn't just input. So several times I've had to cancel the reservations which in turn means I pay the cancelation fee. I spoke with management "Jaime" who accused me of lying, yelled at me, interrupted me, spoke over me & was not professionalin anyway whatsoever. This woman has had very little training on working with the public. Never have I experienced such bad customer service.
Same day, it was actually within minutes of our 1st and only conversation she explained to me that she had reviewed my interactions with the app and there's no glitch. At this point I informed her I have video proof as my husband had recorded it. She asked me to send her my video, of which I did. At this point I haven't received anything in regards to a refund of my cancelation fees.
Horrible, after booking through booking.com, I noticed discounts (i. E. student, aarp, military, etc) posted by the hotel. The hotel only provides these discounts if you book directly through them (this is true with most hotels), therefore I missed out on a $68 discount on a $680 hotel tab. Also found out my rate would have been the same booking directly through the hotel, actually they could've provided a better rate on less extravagant room (booking. Com gave me the top priced room). After inquiring with Booking.com about their pricing guarantee is does not include such discounts such a student, aarp, etc provided by the hotel. Therefore, end result I paid more by going thru booking.com - I am an aarp member and would've saved the $68 (10%) - tell students, military and seniors get your discounts by going directly thru the hotel!
Why should you pay more when there is a pricing guarantee - makes no sense.
They process your payments via Amsterdam so you will incur transaction charges. I contacted them before we paid our holiday and was told by their customer service team UK transaction so I would not incur charges which was rubbish as they processed payment from Amsterdam and I incurred £64.37 charge. I took this up with them they first said they would refund me and then they said they would not. You really don't know where you stand with them or can trust a word they say. I will NEVER book anything with this company again. If we all do the same they will go out of business.
Booking.com supports Hotels that scam. The 'Inn' on Big Island, Hawaii has beautiful charming, pictures, breakfast included. All deceptive. Fraud. Charged before we arrived, the 'Inn' sent us to a different place in scary section of Hilo with a windowless basement room, only a screen door to the outside and KEEP OUT, NO TRESPASSING signs all over the building, no breakfast, no parking. Fearing our safety and our car's, we left after 20 minutes. We notified Booking.com. Booking asked proof of our stay, we had pictures, the owner's business card. Booking replied the owner reported us as 'no show'. Our pictures meant nothing. No refund for us! Booking said owner had "substantial proof"? Our pictures meant nothing. Checking more deeply, others had same complaint as us on Booking reviews. So Booking allows hotels to bait and switch.
No customer service to speak of. I paid for a room via Booking.com and turned up at the hotel to discover Booking.com had never made the booking. I had to make my own alternative arrangements after trying to contact customer services to no avail. I cannot believe that a company of such low standards is allowed to trade legally in the UK.
Used Booking.Com to make two day reservation at the Hilton Garden Inn for 3/14/17 to 3/16 2017. I Had to cancel 3/13/2107 because of the oncoming blizzard. There was no way that I could drive the two and a quarter hour drive through a blizzard!
I paid the entire cost on my credit card when I made the reservation. I was told I would not get my money refunded. It is not fair or good business. Needless to say I will never use Booking.com again.
Booked a hotel with Booking.com. Then found a lower price. Sent in the required documentation for low price match. Booking.com confirmed my submission and said I would receive a refund. Three weeks later and I'm still waiting on refund. Customer service no help. Will not use Booking.com again.
I have been using booking.com for ages as a reliable web but now I realise that everything was a fraud. When I gave positive reviews everything was fine, but last month I had a bad experience in France and I have been ignored by them. So I wont trust any longer on the comments or reviews about the hotels, they only publishes what they like or maybe they have an agreement with the hotels in order to give them the right to block undesired (although real) experiences. Its a shame. David
Hi David,
I am sorry to learn on your feelings. Kindly note, once we have moderated for obscenities, we post all reviews as they were submitted (both positive and negative). Please provide your reservation number and I will check the status of your review.

Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: I don't know why you're even using this site Stephanie. Their after sales is disgusting! Recommend travel Republic. Great prices and options
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: NOT BOOKING.CON
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.
Booking.com has a rating of 1.2 stars from 4,236 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Booking.com most frequently mention customer service, credit card and free cancellation. Booking.com ranks 445th among Hotels sites.
Hi Amber,
I'm sorry to hear you feel this way. Booking.com offers the best price guaranteed. If the hotel posts a cheaper offer you can contact us before you check into the hotel so we can match the rate if the conditions are met. If you have a discount card, and you want their discount, you need to read their terms and conditions as they don't apply to Booking.com, it will indicate where you need to book in order to take advantage of those offers. I hope this helps, please let me know if I can assist you with anything.
Regards, Mac
