I booked an hotel in March and had an issue. They canceled my payment as they gave me the room for the night. The payment was made weeks in advanced through booking. Needless to say, booking has not released my funds, even though they have spoken with several managers from the facility approving the refund. It is now 3 months later. Still no refund and they keep saying they have to speak with someone from the hotel. Even though they have received an email from the general manager. Run far away because I'm they keep your money if you get refunded.
Although I cancelled a booking WELL within the cancellation period, my credit card was billed for the stay. When my credit card was refunded, it was less than the original amount charged due to exchange rate fluctuations. Of course, it went in the property's favor. If the property had waited until the CANCELLATION DATE to bill, there would not have been a problem. Booking.com's response?
"The property is not liable for this loss, because they had the right to take the deposit and for understandable reasons they can't and should not refund you more then they have received."
Thanks for nothing, booking.com
Trust the 1.5 stars that booking.com has. They are deceitful in the reservations and reservation confirmation descriptions. Online my reservation said that there was a $25 cancellation fee. Then I go to cancel and the rep on the phone, their supervisor and manager tell me that there is a nonnegotiable $50 fee. This website needs to clean up their act before I will use them again. If I were you I would not trust them with my credit card information.
They're not responsible for nothing not even false representation (see pictures). It takes forever and a thousand steps to try to get a refund even if the hotel (actually a dump Days Inn, Albany) has agreed to issue a refund.
Booking is just a payment service, nothing more. Use Expedia instead.
Two bookings, two failures, both with e-mail confirmations, two properties that had no idea we were coming. The first was after a long, late night drive, we showed the e-mail, they called some help number for Booking.com and got nowhere. After 45 minutes, the hotel gave us a room that was not the kind that we booked (too small for our party) because the room we needed was sold out. We decided to check on our recent booking in advance, again, the hotel chain had no record, in spite of our confirmation number. Booking.com was unresponsive through their website. I received a reply to my Facebook post, with a promise to look into and get back to me... waiting... still waiting. We decided to reserve directly through the property instead of wasting our time with this scam of a company. They are uncaring and useless. Avoid them at all costs
I am renting a house to one individual. He is not staying there but using it for Booking.com. Apart from being illegal (my mortgage company would never allow) the bathroom floor is unsafe. I have written and written to Booking.com to ask them to suspend advertising my property as they are facilitating an illegal and unsafe practice. I added surely you must have a duty of care to your customers who could get hurt. BUT THEY REFUSE. Absolutely irresponsible. The Law says it will take me 8-10 months to evict my tenant. In the meantime Booking.com are not prepared to help. DONT USE BOOKING.COM they dont check the accommodation they are offering. I am the owner of the property and therefore do not have proof of purchase.
I paid $40 dollars more a day for a room compared to the people staying next door, in the same exact type of room. I called booking.com and they could do nothing about it. I am very disappointed and will not use their site anymore.
Within the first 3 minutes in the room I killed 2 gnats on bathroom mirror & thought nothing of it till I saw the shower; There was black mold on the grout throughout, not just 1 spot. The staff sent someone to clean it. But upon return from speaking with desk clerk, I killed another 9 gnats & an additional 16 only moments later! We then asked for another room. They accommodated us cheerfully. This room was better but killed two bugs on the floor during stay, The carpets were filthy in both rooms and pillows smelled bad in the second room. The staff was friendly and accommodating but the owner of this facility needs to invest back into this property in regards to cleanliness and sanitary conditions.
Avoid this company at all cost. They screwed me out of $186.00. I made a reservation with them and immediately attempted to cancel it. They would not send me a confirmation number so I could make the cancellation. I contacted them no less than 10 times asking for a confirmation number. Still no reply. The reservation came and went and was unused. Their "customer service" makes it impossible to talk to a live person. Save yourself some time and aggravation. Avoid Booking.com
We double booked for our hotel in Paris, tried to get the issue corrected within 24 hours after realizing the mistake. No response from booking.com; as an alternative tried to cancel directly with the hotel no luck either since we made the transaction through a third party. Save yourself the trouble, book directly with the hotel of your choice and you will certainly avoid this type of issues. We will NEVER EVER use this site again for any of our travel arrangements.
Booked a hotel room and found out they charged the same rate as a member rate to the hotel! Advertised a $50 dog fee and hotel told us it is $100! $275 per night for a discount extended stay hotel that was filthy and in disrepair. When I waited on line for a very long time to talk to a rep she hung up on me when I explained the charges discrepancy! Total scam, fraud, don't waste your time with this site!
Booking.com treats its customers like they are nobody. I rented a room for 3 nights through their website and when I showed up, the room was already occupied. I had to go through over 4 customer service agents and spend well over 3 hours on the phone. I have been told initially that I would get a reimbursement for the total amount of my expense to finally be told that I was supposed to call on the first day to be relocated, therefore I would not get a penny out of them. I have lost not only what I paid through Booking.com $415 but $735 I had to pay over that for 2 hotels we managed to find on our own. And now I am told my file is closed as senior staff refuse to talk to customers, hiding behind their minions. They should be ashamed of how they are treating their customers.
This is the most unreliable site ever. I booked a night stay at jfk a week before my stay with the total amount of $135 including tax and state tax only to get an email from the hotel few hours to my check in that my total is $168. I called the hotel and I was told they have nothing to do with the price booking.com gave me. I didn't plan to spend an extra $33. This just shows this site is the worst place to book a reservation. Better to deal with the hotel directly than booking.com
And did I mention their customer service sucks.
This is a fabulous site with the beauty of beach and pool the rooms are very clean and the family can't do enough for the guests we were able to keep our rooms on at no extra cost which was wonderful we had the most fantastic holiday and will be booking again for next year.
I tried to cancel what I booked after 6 hours and they wanted me to pay full cost of the hotel which was 1300 dollars for me to cancel. I even booked the dates months before too. Do not ever use these guys. They make money from cancellation fees. I'm going to call Amex and see if they can help me out with this outrageous act.
Went to book a refundable room for a visit 2 months in advance. The fee was only $20 on a $380 two night visit. The event was moved and when checking my email I somehow got a non-refundable confirmation. Springhill Suites took the money and ran. Booking.com looked the other way. Stay away from booking.com and Springhill Suites must be hard up as well. Charley S.
I've booked hotels through booking.com and not had a problem until a recent stay. The "hotel" charged exorbitant prices and it was quite bad. It was given a 7.7 rating on booking.com which it does not deserve for the fees it charges. I wrote an honest review and it is being "processed" by booking.com. I'm sure they will not publish it because it's negative with respect to the hotel quality and also the pricing. They lost a good customer in me. I will never book again through booking.com because I cannot trust their ratings.
Trying to get through the DC traffic, we pushed on and arrived at midnight. The booking price was $86. Upon arriving, they required $100 incidental fee! Really? What are we going to buy from you at midnight? This should be clearly stated in the booking price. The not so helpful manager said it would be refunded in 24hours! Sure, I believe you! Do not stay here
My hotel in Orlando was paid for months in advance. My reservation was confirmed that week. After driving for 28 hours from Canada, I arrived at the hotel at 11.30 pm to learn that me (and about 10 others) did not have a room. They provided a phone no. To call- which we tried 4 times (the office was closed). I tried calling booking.com- (unsuccessfully) and left the hotel at 12.30 pm. All the hotels in the area were fully booked. I was exhausted and slept in my car in a rest area en route to my next destination. Took about a month to get my money back and many long phone calls. My first few calls were a total waste of time- the attendants said the matter had been "expedited", but turns out what they had done actually did nothing. Won't use this website again.
My husband and I recently booked two trips at the same time and needed to cancel one hotel room. This was done less than an hour after booking. Booking.com stated free cancellation but my husband was charged 30% of the hotel room which came out of the account straight away! This was not stated at time of booking but was after booking in an email... What use is that!
Booking.com seriously need to sort out their website so that it is very clear on cancellation charges.
We have a number of trips away each year and will never use booking.com again or recommend them to anyone. Absolute disgrace!
Answer: In my case they took my payment information and paid the hotel where I was going to be staying. Only to find out that the hotel was out of business and I had to prove that it was charged to my account. They did not find me a replacement hotel to stay in for the same price. Nor did they care that I was left without a place to stay. So beware before you purchase.
Answer: Don't waste time with booking.com. They have horrible customer service and will make every attempt to cheat you. Simply report the problem to your credit card company to get your refund.
Answer: Run. Run away. This company and the company used to insure their bookings are scams.
Answer: I don't know why you're even using this site Stephanie. Their after sales is disgusting! Recommend travel Republic. Great prices and options
Answer: You pay a non refundable price on line. When you check into your hotel, it's billed to your Bookings.com reservation plus incidentals (local calls, parking fees, resort fees, dining, bar fees, Europe charges local or city tax, spa fees...) the hotel will ask for a card as a hold for these fees. Use bookings.com, find the hotel you wish to stay in (get all info and contact them directly via website and price match) the Marriott in Rome had a room for $80.00 less on the Marriott website than these, so called MONEY SAVING SITES.
Answer: It depends on the hotel some don't charge until you arrive at hotel more will charge your card straight away check your booking it should tell you there
Answer: Trevago is hooked into Booking.com don't make a mistake and let trevago send you to booking.com go to Hotel.com which is more professional. I had to go to American Express customer serviced to complain and they gave a dead line for explanation. They had no explanation for crappy service and had to repay me.
Answer: NOT BOOKING.CON
Answer: You will need to pay taxes in addition to the quoted price. Call the motel and they will tell you about the taxes. A few places still don't charge exttra taxes e.g. Harris Ranch in California.
Answer: You can't. That's the whole idea. You provide a service, and your customers get to give their review of your place and your services.

Hello Ana, I am sorry to hear this. Kindly note, the rates advertised on Booking.com are set by the hoteliers themselves. Should a lower rate be found immediately after a reservation was made, we do have a Best Price Guarantee policy. You can find further information regarding this policy here: http://bit.ly/1hG9zKJ
