Dreadful service, appalling telephone call handlers, and flights were cancelled - on the third time I telephoned the help number. A person whose first, second and third languages were not English asked a series of unrelated questions, missed the point entirely but then decided the cancellations must have been due to '... a poor internet connectivity...'. I asked how I made a complaint. After a while I gave up - I will not use these incompetents again.

We are going to Scotland for our Silver Wedding, booked a Days Inn for one night on the way up. Realised it is not far enough north so tried to cancel the reservation, which had a free cancellation policy, but it won't let me cancel the booking on their website. I have paid for the Days Inn 70 miles north, through the actual company on the same date. Spoke to Booking.com on the phone last night, she put me on hold, then said the hotel will not budge. Spoke to the hotel myself this morning, to be told they had no phone call from them at all and cancellation is entirely down to Booking.com. They themselves have a free cancellation policy until 6 weeks before. So 6 months is well within their time frame! I suppose the only grace is the card used in December to reserve that room got lost, so no charges can be made to it. Spoken to Booking this morning to tell them how I feel and requested a cancellation through their online form and will see what happens.

They are horrific. You will pay for a reservation in full and they will use a "virtual card" that doesn't actually go to the hotel. I got charged twice and had to spend days and jump through hoops to figure it out. The customer service reps are all robots reading from scripts and don't actually help you. I have used it for years and today is my last day. I will never use this organization ever again and neither will anyone I know. Save yourself the money, time and headache and book your stays elsewhere. They are all about their money and will do everything to keep your money.

Without consulting reviews I used booking.com to book a room in Washington DC. When booking it the site showed $0 to cancel or change the reservation.
The short version is that I inadvertently booked the wrong date. I was charged in spite of emailing immediately, not days later, not hours later, literally within minutes.
I just noticed yesterday on my credit card bill a third charge for another date I didn't book.
As to ease of use. It was easy. As to explaining how to correct a mistake or dispute a third charge, there is nothing.
Hopefully this scam site is run completely out of business sooner than later.
Just to be sure, I am filing a Better Business Bureau compliant since their site is not designed to assist with complaints. They roll it to the hotel which rolls it back to booking as the agent.

I booked a hotel for two weeks on Turks and Caicos on Dec 31,2013 for June 2014. According to booking.com, if you find a lesser price, that is exactly the same, they will honor this. On Jan 1,2014, I found a less expensive price on Expedia.com for nearly $500. I notified booking.com the same day. I have sent them 3 emails in a 9 day span with absolutely no reply from them of any kind. I sent the link and page copy of the lower price also. They either are very incompetent in what they do or they just plain don't care. When one runs a business, the least one can do is reply to ones emails, unless of course, one has no intention of upholding ones own policies and hope that the customer will just go away. I do not recommend any business that acts this way and wish I had read the reviews first. With this many unhappy people posting, it definitely raises a red flag. I hope this is the end of this scenario and that I do not have to come back here and post more problems.

Hello Joy,

I'm sorry to hear that you feel this way. Booking.com does offer a Best Price Guarantee and you are correct if the rooms and conditions are identical, Booking.com will match the price. The full BPG procedures can be viewed at the following link: http://bit.ly/1fkrUB6

I would like to check your reservation to confirm the BPG claim. Can you please provide me with your booking number so that I can assist you?

Horrible customer service
August 22, 2023

Called booking.com to cancel a reservation because of the horrible reviews. Since we were two women staying with children, we didn't feel safe staying somewhere where people were being arrested. I spend over 3 hours on the phone only to have a booking.com supervisor hang up on me and tell me that if the property doesn't feel we should have a refund, they will honor the property's decision. I even emailed someone from corporate with no response. This company is a scam who will take your money for services not rendered. They don't care about the safety of their guests or their reputation. The supervisor told me they wouldn't see the bad reviews because they only skim reviews to ensure their is no fail language and it's the guests responsibility to ensure they pick a safe place. It's all about the bottom line and the size of their profit margin, the customer service is horrendous and I highly recommend booking through a hotel directly to cut out this unnecessary middleman.

DONT EVER USE BOOKING.COM
December 29, 2021

This site is by far the worst travel booking site EVER. You can't call customer service because they don't have a phone number, either local or national. You have to go through their website and it takes forever. Once you get their, you can only choose from their menu.
This site is meant to take your money and then see you never. I booked a hotel through them only to find out after a I needed to cancel, that there was a no cancellation policy. NO WHERE was I told that when i made the booking.

Never use Booking.com
May 24, 2022

Worse experience ever. Never use bookin.com. They take your money but don't care people. I trusted them and thought I was booking at a hotel, but ended up renting at a place called Residenza lago di Lugano in Switzerland. They took my money and made me cancel. Then booking.com did nothing saying it was their policy to keep the money if I was not ok about the place. Never trust Booking.com my only advise.

My booking was fully paid and confirmed. I have emails and screenshots confirming this.

Booking.com contacted me to ask me to pay another 900 EURO towards the booking. I disputed this. They informed that they can change the rates whenever they like, even when my booking was already fully paid.

They forced cancellation of my booking without my permission and didn't inform me until after a refund was made. They refuse to assist with finding alternative accommodation and their customer service team are not helpful at all.

Every single answer I have received is a copy-paste answer from some Philippines service centre and you can tell the customer comes last in every reply they send.

Pool out of service not told in advance, room was dirty walls, floors. Was ripped off and booking and the rental were made aware of it! They still are advertising there property with a beautiful private pool and yet I have evidence that the property was made aware 9/19 to all residents that it would be drained and plastered out of service until mid November! Walls were dirty and floor had bleach stains on carpet all over! It was a rip off! I told booking that the company should not still be allowed to advertise on their page a they are aware of all this! Nothing but we are sorry an there's nothing they can do! I will not book with this company again and will advise otherwise for others! This is not good business at all! Go on vacation take 2 swim suits only to never need them at all without that information being told in advance is a rip off! Also avoid renting with Modern Apartment Rentals in DTLA! They are frauds!

The Tale of Justice
September 4, 2024

Once upon a time, there was a little boy named Otelyer. He had a favorite toy – his grandmother's house, where his friends and their friends would come to play. Everyone lived happily and in harmony.

One day, a bigger boy named Buking came along and suggested that Otelyer let his friends come to play in the house too. In return, he would give him candies and promised only to bring good guests.

But one day, Buking brought some guests who broke the house, behaved disgracefully, and rudely offended Otelyer. The boy tried for a long time to explain to Buking that such behavior was unacceptable, and that the damage and negativity left by his guests needed to be fixed. But Buking kept dodging, making promises, and stalling for time.
So the boy went to the town square and began telling his story to the passersby. It turned out that the big boy Buking had behaved this way with many kids in town. He called everyone his "partners," but continued to only think of himself and lived at the expense of the smaller children.

One day, an old wise traveler passed through the town. He heard Otelyer's story and decided to help the boy and his friends. He told them that in a neighboring country lived a kind and caring boy named Aerbnb. He was empathetic, attentive, and took good care of the homes of his friends. The kids were thrilled by this news and all together they went to the neighboring town to befriend Aerbnb.

Time passed, and the old traveler passed through the town again. He was greatly surprised by how much the town had changed. Everyone was happy, friendly, and living in abundance and joy. On the outskirts of the town, in an abandoned, old house, he saw Buking, alone and impoverished.

Then the wise traveler thought, "Friendship ends where distrust begins."

Awful Experience
August 4, 2023

I've never had such a poor booking experience through the competitors. The listing said it had 3 BRs and 6 beds. I was leasing the entire house. The day before I discovered I had been given only 2 BRs, was sharing the communal spaces. 1st I was told the company would pay the difference for a place that could accommodate me. But then they would pay only $27 more. After I made reservations four months in advance, I was not going to be able to touch something in the same area for anywhere near what I had been promised. Customer service was extremely difficult to contact and not at all helpful. If anything they lied to me throughout the process. They pulled a bait n switch. Don't use this service.

Useless Customer Service Department
May 29, 2023

Customer service rebooked a reservation for me—2 rooms on the same night rather than one room for two consecutive nights. The hotel made me pay for them directly for the second night. Despite several calls (4+) to Booking's customer service and going in circles with there representatives, I have yet to see the promised refund. Use this site only for price match purposes. Book DIRECTLY with your desired hotel.

Although I've had a few positive experiences with booking.com, the not-so-positive are racking up.
I recently needed to change my credit card information with booking.com. For my trips this summer, I had already been charged in full from 3 of the hotels. (Meaning I didn't have to pay anything else since 100% payment was taken at the time of the reservation.) For some reason, the 3 hotels re-charged me as a result of what the booking.com agent did when I called asking for help with editing my credit card details. Since these 3 hotels double charged me (telling me that booking.com had made this error sending my info. A second time as if payment was not yet made), I had to prove that I had already paid in full months ago. The hotels reimbursed me although since the exchange rate had fluctuated during the time it took me to show documentation, I lost out on around 8 USD. Not a lot of money although I'm not the one who should be losing out on these eight dollars.

Hi There,

Thank you for your post and please accept my apologies for any disappointment cause. Please be advised credit card details are sent directly to the hotel as soon as the reservation is made. The hotel will then charge or pre-authorize a guest card based on their policies. When credit card details are modified the information is again sent directly to the hotel via our secure system. There is no difference as to how the hotel receives the details. It is the hotel's responsibility to keep track of which guest they have charged.

I'm glad to hear that the hotel was able to refund the incorrect charge. I would like to look into the exchange rate fees further. Can you please send me an email with your booking number and reference to this post to customer.web@booking.com. Alternatively you can post your booking number here.

Regards,

I booked a studio through booking.com only to be shown into a mouldy damp hole of a hotel. Took photos and presented to booking.com to show they bared no resemblance to their pictures to be told it was my fault for not reading all the reviews. Why advertise accommodation that doesn't exist...

This review is about their rental car division. I paid for car A (which I wanted) and they gave me car B (smaller, not enough room, not what I wanted). Bottom line - don't ever rent from rentalcars.com. Yes... you WILL get a car. NO, you will NOT get the car you PRE-PAID for. I ended up speaking to 5 customer reps during the course of a 72-minute call. Result? "We will look into your case, sir." I've probably booked dozens of hotels on Booking over the years. But, because of their choice to ignore their mistake, I choose to never use them again - and share my experience on reviews like this.

I arrived at my hotel and gave my confirmation number. The hotel didn't have me reservation and encouraged me to call Booking support. But the support number is in the UK - so I ended up being charged $75 by my phone provider while on the line for Booking support. Which never found my reservation and made me call them back several times to get a refund on the hotel. Will not use again.

With reference to booking number *******531 for 28-02-2017, I was denied any room availability since they did not hold my booking. I was left completely stranded@. 4.30 am in the morning. This is extremely disappointing and disgraceful on both bookings.com part and parkside suits dubai and from next time I ensure myself not to book through booking.com and to parkside suites

Hi Vic,

Once you confirm a booking, its policy does not change. The policy listed on your confirmation email will be the one honored. Please provide me with your booking number if you would like me double check your policy for you.
