The two T-shirts I purchased were a different length (21") than the 24" advertised, but when I asked about refund/return I was told I would have to pay a shipping fee $6.99 and/or restocking fee $9.50. Even though all the company had to do was measure their t-shirts to see that I was right, they just kept repeating to me their standard return policy. I emailed and phoned several times to try to get some satisfaction but no one could alter the standard return policy.

Almost everything bad you read and then some. Ditto to all the problems. What I find particularly astonishing is that Fedex let's them use their name. Called Fedex to try and track my way overdue package only to find out it will end up in my local post office which doesn't deliver to homes and is closed on Saturdays. No way they can possibly stick to the advertised delivery times. Also, when I contacted customer service about the daily changing discounts being applied to orders not yet rec'd they never responded. It's true, they just don't care. STAY AWAY!

Class Action?
July 10, 2017

Anybody interested in a class action suit? Got charged finance charge at late $20 late fee for not paying off $27 shipping for return items of which I never received the bill. Just spent about an hour on the phone with them a course the supervisor was supposed to come and didn't. Now owe $50 and have nothing to show for it.

I ordered a number of mock turtle neck sweaters from you. Initially they arrived in good condition. Then I ordered a couple more. What a mess you've made. Why on earth would you hard iron soft sweaters? Any idiot would know the that this type if material should be steam pressed. Now I'm looking at a bunch of dark sweaters that are hard ironed & have an awful sheen & iron marks on them. I've purchased this type of sweater from other companies & never received anything like this. Thanks for taking money & providing a product that's handled in an inferior manner.

Bad reviews

Have read a lot of bad reviews re sizing, fit, customer service. I ordered two long sleeve T-shirts on 5/6/2020 and received them 5/12/20. Perfect size. I will be ordering from this company again. Just in case readers think I have an interest in the company, I DO NOT.

Nice quality ordered a petite large in color buttercup, sweater runs larger than expected, did not like color. Returning for petite medium in classic navy color, hope it will work out better. Marilyn Marquardt

I have hundreds of Applseeds' purchases in my closet--shirts, pants, skirts, sweaters, Blazers--love them all and keep ordering more. I have the Spindrift sweaters in just about every color. I am puzzled by all the negative reviews. I listen to all the pitches and then politely decline all offers. Always take advantage of free shipping and any 30% off offers. They will always offer to give you 15% off on a third item so I keep that as my least favorite and order my top 2 favorites so I get those for sure and the third as backup. The fits are always perfect and I love the Gloria Vanderbilt Amanda jeans! I've had to purchase thin closet hangers as so many items stuffed in my closets. Barbara B.

I have been shopping at Appleseeds & Tog Shop for many many years and have always been pleased with the quality of the clothes and the professionalism & courtesy of the phone staff. I seldom return anything, but my returns have all been completed to my satisfaction.
I get all my basics from Appleseeds... every year.
I love the fact that all the colors are coordinated so I can put together a complete wardrobe that works together... try doing that at Macy's!
Some of the criticisms below seem to arise from not reading the specifications correctly or demanding too much from a business situation they have no control over, like the delivery companies. Mail order is not suitable for last minute emergency purchases. They do their best, but customers must be organized too.

Took forever to receive my order, despite high shipping charges. Quality of merchandise was poor. I ended up spending nearly $40 to try on the clothes and make a return. Other vendors do much better. I won't shop with them again.

Worst customer service ever, I've tried, but not gonna waste anymore of my money on them. I ordered something about a month ago, still don't have it. They'll get it to me eventually, they say. They put 3 to 4 items in a tiny mailer, like letter size. Then you'll get one tank top in a kitchen trash bag sized mailer. Their return process includes a form that is not like any other I've ever seen. I've "exchanged" at least two pieces, neither has ever arrived. They are just too hard to do business with, I'll stick to Talbots or Coldwater Creek, etc.

Second time...
August 16, 2013

Second time... ordered two pair of pants. Photos look great, actual product not the same as much cheaper fabric. I wore the knit for traveling 24 hours and to my horror... snags, pilling, baggy rear, baggy knees all while sitting on an airplane. Left them in a trash bin... second pair of dotted rayon. Darling in photo of flowing, light weight. After first washing in cold, gentle they had shrunk and lost shape. Expensive at the time and I was taking a gamble. Total waste of money. NEVER buy from them again.

I ordered three pairs of summer sandals. Received within two weeks. They were too large and wanted to exchange for smaller size. Called customer service... a rude woman said I didn't have to complete return form information for an exchange. I completed the form anyway clearly indicating "exchange." After two weeks called to verify exchange and was told they had not been received and that I have to wait 30 days to report lost merchandise. My small town post office verified package went out same day I returned. I'm out shoes and $135 on my credit card. Do not buy anything from this outfit.

I still haven't received my order from 5/22. I have emailed and phoned with no satisfaction. Emails are computer generated though I got one today to Dear Miss etc. Really? I just throw up my hands at this very poorly run company.

Bought a Mother's Day gift. It's June 3. No product and no ship date. Inquired with customer service and no response. Thanks, this has been a great gift. I'll be sure to order from you again next time I have an occasion for someone special. All around a truly terrible experience.

I had an issue with their website not taking a promo code I had received in a flyer included with my prior Appleseed's order. The website would not take it. I tried calling Customer Service three times. Each time I was placed on hold for over 10 minutes and no one ever picked up. I emailed customer service and the response could have been written by a computer, it was a broad response and did not address my specific concern at all. After purchasing from this company for several years, I have asked to be taken from their mailing and email lists and will not purchase from them again. Their website claims "outstanding customer service", what a joke!

Appleseed should go out of business, It is a horrible company. They scam the elderly. My 90.5-year-old mom ordered a robe from them way back in November, for a pending surgery. She still doesn't have it. And they keep changing the date of arrival. Now they are saying it should be delivered in February. Plus, they keep her on the phone for over an hour whenever she calls to check on her order. That's unacceptable! WARNING: Do NOT order anything from Appleseed, or you will be very disappointed. And it's impossible to get any customer service issues resolved with them.

The website is fine if you can figure out the "ins and outs" of all the promotions. My experience was that there were always "catches." The phone customer service is horrible. Folks must be trained in how to evade the deals. In two conversations when I asked for a supervisor I was hung up on. Terrible.

They charge for a VIP service every month whether you order or not. The customer gets ripped off, especially older folks who don't understand what they're being billed for. Customer service is good at calming those with problems, saying they'll cancel the VIP service but next month you still get billed for it.

Don't buy from these vultures. They deserve to go out of business.
