On last Monday 6/13/22 I went to American Best on Sgn Lane. Everyone was all friendly over the phone even when I arrived to the store. However over the years things have changed drastically as for the time frame it takes to have a pair of eye glasses made. The manager over the glasses suggested I get the coat to help me see better for on coming head lights at night paying extra money for a year warranty. I haven't been able to report to my evening Job as a manager at a local fast food restaurant nor my morning job at The Bocage Racquet Club... I'm not use to sitting at home all day feeling helpless now seeking mental health to help with my depression. Being legally blind is not easy and with the name American Best, you'd think they'd have a lab shop inside the building. I've received excellent service at smaller eye doctors with in house lab technicians and my glasses were back in 2 to 3 days. Yes they told me 7 to 10 days but after having my nephew read the guidelines it also states they are supposed to give an exact date I still haven't got a date. They don't count weekends or holidays. I'm being unprofessional because I
Can't give neither one of my employees a accurate return date. I paid $286.00 cash
Told me my united health care insurance not showing up for Louisiana. They won't use my California insurance I just moved back home to Louisiana in March, Won't ever recommend these ppl to anyone in the future. I'll stick with the smaller companies!
I called the store to explain my glasses were not correct. The person on the phone generally told me if it's been over 30 days there is nothing they will do.
Than I took them in and they found they were laid out wrong and offered to make them under my scratch warranty. Not do it cause they were in mistake but use my warranty.
I than called customer service and let them know the replacements were taking to long. They searched and found they were on a ups truck headed to store, ok great.
I get to store and identify my self and the ask me to try the new one one and see what I b think. STILL Wrong and I told the manager and he gave me all a bunch of excuses and told me that's all they can do for me. Than deflects there poor workmanship on me telling me that I should hold there card up to my face and so I did and could only than read the words with the card 3 inches from my face. I Than laid card on there counter and put old glasses on and read card laying on table. He proceeds to tell me most people hold item that close to there face to read it. Than accused me of baggering him when I said the new glasses are not correct. So tough crap $500 downstream drain for glasses I can not use.
In short if you want proper glasses made go somewhere else. The lack of quality and there ability to make there mistakes right are at a I don't care standard.
They have got the last of my money and word of mouth will be poor when asked about them.
To bad cant give no stars. They are horrible. I took my family to purchase glasses including my mom. They pull my benefits but informed us that we only had a $120 allowance. Since my mom had no insurance and liked her glasses I paid about $440 for her pair. My wife and kids decided to go across the street to another company where they gave us a $300 allowance on frame selections. This is where this company sucks they would not release the lock on our insurance benefits and told me I had to wait 24 hrs. Making us unable to select glasses at the next store. Since my insurance allows us to get new glasses every 12 months, I knew this was not the norm. I've gone to Visionworks where they have pulled our insurance benefits and the same day went to Kent Eye wear and picked up a frame that suited us better. VisionWorks had no issues in release the insurance benefits. To make a long story short. After going back to the store no one would assist me after 15 min. I had to get upset and get loud in order to get attention. They threaten to call the cops on me cause they were unwilling to release my benefits. An off duty officer was also at the store that day intervene and got them to refund my mom's glass I paid for and proceed on releasing my benefits. STAY AWAY UNPROFESSIONAL PRACTICE!
Awesome people know there stuff and don't try to upsell stuff you don't need. Prices are good. $88 dollars cheaper that eye mart. Not done in an hour but you can save lots of money
My prescription happens to be out of warranty,
HOWEVER… there is a film on my glasses!
When a technician looked at the lenses she said "it looks like the film has come off the lenses and there is NOTHING that can be done since out of warranty!" I have had several pairs of glasses through other companies and have NEVER had this experience!
I followed up with corporate and they said there is NOTHING that can be done, period!
I will never use America's Best ever again and will be sure to pass the word on!
I'm assuming they use sub par material for their glasses!
SHAME on you AB!
Didn't take my particular insurance, made my appointment about a week ago and still had to wait an hour for all required eye exams was originally told if I walked out I"d still be responsible for pre exam but when I went to receptionest again she changed her mind and let me go without paying anything, I've been going to Americas Best for years and was extremely disappointed, they should call Americas Best, America's Worst, never again will I go to them for eye glasses etc.
We are coming America just 2 year ago and now first time Mack a glass and we are going Americas best and I am new in America then not speak proper english but America's best store all employees is very good support for us
My hubby and I went to have our eyes examined at America's Best in Oxford, Al. Worst eye exam we've ever had in our life. First we waited almost 30 mins before being seen and plus my hubby had an accident so sitting in them uncomfortable chairs make it any better. So as hubby was getting eye exam he told the lady that he couldn't see the letters on the board. So she claims she fixed it and gave him his Rx. We go to Sam's Club to purchase eyeglasses and get Rx filled. Eyeglasses came back and hubby kept telling the lady at Sam's Club that he can't see and she said try finding a spot and give it two weeks. Well we then call America's Best to get another eye exam from a different provider. How about the man said oh the previous person have you Rx wrong. She had the OD at a negative and he said it should have been a positive. Okay cool we get the new RX go back to Sam's Club get Rx changed. Few weeks later we go pick this second lens. Hubby was like something still isn't right. So we come back home and he starts having headaches from wearing these eyeglasses. Hubby then decides I'm gonna call another provider which he has to pay out of pocket. Well what do you know both previous providers at America's Best had his Rx all wrong he can see now. So this morning I decided to contact David Insurance to explain to them what had happened. She reached out to America's Best and they refuse to reimburse the examination back to us. So she suggests filling a complaint so that's what we have done. So instead of being called America's Best they should be called America's Worst Eyeglasses.
I scheduled eye exams for my three (3) children (15, 13, 6) with America's Best online and was ready to move forward. When I booked the appointments I found it odd I was able to book my teens' times 10 minutes apart (10 & 10:10 am), but when it came to the 6 y/o the appoint couldn't take place until 12:10 pm. All three (3) were booked at the same location on the same day.
Today I receive a call, to change my appointment date for the 6 y/o due to the optometrist having strict rules of ageism on patients under 7 years old and over 70 years old. The store manager informed my wife and I because of my 6 y/o age we needed to reschedule for two (2) weeks later, since the optometrist feel she would take longer to exam as would anyone over 70 years old. This is the procedure at EVERY location. The manager even tossed in if the elderly has high blood pressure or other medical issues.
How can you advertise you are more of a family friendly practice, but when it comes to these two (2) age groups excuses are made.?!
They wrote me a ba prescription and then insisted that if I wanted it fixed my insurance won't cover their malpractice until January. So they say I have to go without until then?
I went to American best eyes in Garland TX off garland rd in April of 2022 was trying a new set of contacts did not like them so I called in to see if I needed to come in again or did they have the usual contacts Iam used to wearing, I spoke with a Carlos's VERY knowledgeable helpful kind actually did exactly what he said he would do he contacted me set me up with another appointment reminded me of my appointment just an all-around great employee. Thanks Carlos T. McIntosh
I want to give a 5 star rating for Cherish, the sales person at the America's Best store in Federal Way Wa.
I had an appointment scheduled for Tuesday January 3,2023 and everyone was very professional, friendly, and helpful through the whole process of eye exam and ordering new glasses.
Cherish helped me pick out frames that fit my head and face, placed the order for the new glasses and explained pricing and the whole ordering process. She is a fairly new employee and seems to know what she is doing and talking about. She deserves a HIGH RATING at her job. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND her and this store if anyone is planning to purchase glasses.
Thank you Craig Bjelland very satisfied customer.
HAD TO PUT ONE STAR, BECAUSE ZERO is not an option. Went with elderly member in Aug- Sept. 2021, We were told we had to go outside the store IN THE HEAT with a mirror provided, BECAUSE COULDN'T PULL MASK DOWN TO TRY FRAMES (NOT LIVING IN 2020). Mask was fogging up lenses, so elderly couldn't see anything. Then associate pushed desired colored, but utterly UGLY frames IN "effort to help" to try on. Felted rushed by having associate pushing frames. Lost out on $570 sale to LENSCRAFTERS (at least could try frames with pulled down mask), because "CORPORATE" has insane policy of customer only plus INSANE MASK POLICY. WALKED OUT OF STORE, WASTED MY TIME & INSULTED MY INTELLIGENCE. STAY AWAY FROM THIS STORE!
My husband's glasses took over four weeks to come in at the Lititz Pike store in Lancaster Pa, then the prescription wasn't right. The young man checked it and said he would send them back, but he had no idea when they would be done. So two days later, he gets a voicemail saying his glasses are ready, I thought that was probably not right, because it was only two days earlier. So I called, I was put on hold, then the lady said, yes they are in, put they are not out of the box, so I wanted to be sure that they were the fixed ones that were sent back, I tried to say we were in two days ago... in a rude voice she said "they are in, but they aren't out of the box, we'll let you know when they are"! She didn't have to be so snippy, it wasn't our fault, my husband said they are America's worst!
I took my glasses back. Which had to bifocal lines. Complain and they resent them out again. And they are worse now. Poor quality. And workmanship. Stay away.
Just now
I showed up to my apt on time yet they helped 3 people that came in after me first, then I wait 45 minutes before I got seen for the pre exam. Apparently I had a Tele doc apt not that I had a choice but after waiting an additional 30 minutes they tell me they are having tech issues and tell me they need to reschedule me. I live 1 hr away and the on site eye doc refused to finish my exam, this is completely unacceptable to me but they are just rude and basically tell me too bad. I had to get my eye exam from lenscrafters instead. And when I called corporate they basically told me to f***off and won't give me the number or name of their supervisors. I buy 2-3 pair of glassed a year and spend $500-800. HORRIBLY RUN COMPANY FILLED WITH INCOMPETENT IDIOTS WITH NO ACTUAL CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS. LENSCRAFTERS AT LEAST GIVES GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE
I usually go to a different eye doctor but couldn't get an appointment when I needed one. America's Best left something to be desired - namely the fact that the doctor told me I need two pairs of glasses - one for distance and one for reading - because "I'm too young for transitions." I almost bought one of the pair while I was there and was going to wait for the others, but it was going to cost $150 and I didn't have the funds immediately available. I'm really grateful I just took the prescriptions home - one of them is for the lowest possible strength of readers. +0.25 - not even sold in pharmacies because it's so low! I ended up buying the more complex prescription through another retailer for less and ordered some readers off of Amazon. What a scam! There was some unprofessionalism where the employees were complaining about their boss being off that day but still checking in with them a lot so they wanted her to leave them alone. I get the sentiment but don't say that to or in front of a customer. I really think they were trying to sell me two pair of $150 - $250 glasses, one of which was unnecessary.
If I could give a zero rating I would. This place was not helpful to our need at all! My daughter in law paid for my grandson's prescription glasses and contacts in January 2022. ABests had to order his contacts and they did not arrive until July. In Sept he went to the class, was fitted and left wearing his prescription. January 19,2023, his contact has torn and when we contacted them to buy some more contacts, we were told that his prescription expired January 9 of 2023, and that he would need to come back and pay for a new prescription for his contacts because it has been a year! I explained because of their ordering system that he did not even begin wearing them until Sept of 2022, they took NO responsibly for their own actions. I ask for his eye glass prescription, which in the state of Georgia is a 2-year prescription, and I was told that prescription had expired as well. I explained that in Ga. By state law those prescriptions are for 2 years. I was told that they (America's Best) can set their own law for each individual. I will not, nor will my grandson ever go back there, and we will be certain to share to others what we have learned about a placed that is called "American's Best"!
I've been wearing glasses all my life American best glasses are the worst the lens I can't stand them but they're foggy I can't get them clean I try everything I spent A lot of money on these glasses where is the $69-I tried it I'll never do it again

Answer: I got a super cheap clear plastic case, very cheap
Answer: From my experience, calling America's Best customer service is an exercise in wasting time. The telephone supervisor I spoke with displayed no interest in the mistreatment at the store, the store's loss of eye exam/purchase records, or the manager's apparent hostility towards the disabled. I was actually informed all America's Best stores have a partially hidden ("not-prominently displayed") sign stating the store can refuse service to anyone. This should be investigated.
Answer: Thought I would be getting two pairs of glasses for $79.99. False advertising there!
Answer: Potential customers have the option of going online and going through the wide variety of frames (divided into men, women, and kids and price-point categories). Then, go to the store, hand your list to your consultant, and try on the frames. There are other on-line sellers that glasses by mail. I was turned off at the complicated criteria for measuring one's face for a proper fit. I prefer to get fitted on-site, not online.
Answer: I can't answer for any store but the one I visited. My eye exam there was conducted on Saturday morning. I do believe all stores do offer Saturday appointments, but best check by calling first.
The company exhibits a mixed reputation, with notable strengths in certain locations where customers report positive interactions and helpful staff. However, a significant number of reviews highlight serious concerns regarding customer service, including perceived incompetence, rudeness, and a lack of adequate support. Many customers express frustration with misleading pricing and service delays, particularly related to glasses prescriptions. Overall, while some locations provide satisfactory service and quality products, widespread complaints about inconsistency in service and product reliability suggest a pressing need for improvement in customer care and operational efficiency across the board.
