I have tried to cancel my reservation before checked in. And it has shown only less than 1/3 refund while i tried to cancelled it. The total overnights fee costs more than several hundred euro, but the refund I could get was less than 91 euro. When I tried to contacted the support chat, they asked me to wait. Then the next day the total refund become 0. Great. How a scam. I got no money back at all. Just lost hundred euro like this.
I had a horrible host experience and he dediced to replace ALL locks and linens at my expense. Airbnb allowed. How do you break TWO locks? I reported one broken BEFORE I left, owner 2 hours away didn't care to come or send local help. Airbnb told me I needed to take photos and videos upon checking in and when leaving to prove conditions! Really? The host/Airbnb client more important than a renter. When they run out of renters, what then? Good luck! My last time for sure
They refused to refund second half of my money for a roach infested, cat pee smelling place i refused to stay in. They claim i should have called and complained to them the same night and not the next morning.
I Lost $320
I was trying to obtain the invoice for 2 reservation that i made on this platform on the name of the company (we payed with the company card) and the consultant told me airbnb doesn't issue the invoice for all the payment! The only issue the invoice for the platform fee and for the rest of the payment there's no chance to obtain an invoice with the company's name. Incredibly. I never heard this lind of policy… i will never choose airbnb and i will never recommend this platform.
The registration process is terrible. You should not only pay for the service they provide, but also constantly prove, that you're good and honest person. Commission they collect is unreasonable.
Will use it, but only until another service like that will appear online.
We were to travel from Canada to Arizona but because of the pandemic and boarder closures for non essential travel we are unable to travel. Plus there is no vaccine which will be distributed soon. I booked Feb 2020 for Feb 2021 travel Airbnb has refused to give us a refund and the host is refusing as well but not returning my messages I'm hearing from airbnb that the host refuses to refund the host will not talk, Evan 1 bd condo downtown Old Scottsdale do not book with them. I would be happy with a travel credit for a later date but they refuse to give a credit as well! Absolutely no help from support. They have decided that they are keeping my $900.00 deposit? These guys are corrupt. This is bad bad business do not book through airbnb!
Airbnb customer support sucks. They are too quick to close a ticket without resolution and it seems as they don't value hosts. They value guests and fees. I am considering switching to another platform.
I was shocked to see "taxes and fees" were $164 dollars for a two night stay. The per night charge was $205 so I never expected such a high tax and fee charge.
Cleaning fee $50
Service fee $55
Occupancy tax $59
I thought others should be aware
While at an Airbnb stay, I was given vouchers to use. I uploaded them before the end of the trip to apply to the cost but because Airbnb charged me for the full stay 2 weeks before I even started the trip (and before any cancellation policy kicked in) they're now not allowing me to use the vouchers. I don't know 1) why they charge people weeks ahead of time, and 2) why their customer support is so unhelpful. Now I'm stuck with vouchers for a service I no longer want to use after this bad experience.
I have been a host on Airbnb for 4 years and only have rented twice. On other websites I rent my house out almost all year round and keep it booked. So on my second rental through Airbnb, I find that I have been contacted by a scammer, my payment information gets changed by someone, they notify me that it has been changed and when I tell them that I didn't change the payment information, they freeze my account and do not pay me after guests stay at my house. I'm out the money and they will not respond to my emails. The call center you get has young guys laughing and having just too much fun in the background, and all they can do is say... I am sorry this happened to you and how terrible. They can't tell me when I will be paid or why I am not being paid and never do I get an email about the non-payment... I'm just out $600 and they must figure I will forget about it.
I have canceled 2 reservations because it is impossible to travel to Savannah and St. Augustine due to hurricane Nicole. I have received $106 out of 352 for Savannah and $43 out of $345 for St. Augustine.
I find this quite unexpected when Florida is under mandatory evaluations and Savannah is expecting 60+ miles of wind. If these are not extenuating circumstances then what are they?
I have expected more help from Airbnb in these circumstances.
I really like this airbnb concept. You can really save on your lodging by looking here before a hotel. Like anything else, you need to do your research and read reviews on the actual home you want to stay in.
Damages discovered after the 48 hour deadline will not get considered by airbnb and further, airbnb will not amend or take down your review. Hosts be aware there are some reviews out there that the hosts now regret and you will be at risk if you rely on these reviews!
First time using this product waited 2 days before leaving my home to cancel booking would not help my find another place to stay.We we're going as a family for daughters graduation to recieve her doctorate. I would not recommend this Airbnb company to anyone
My family and I could not travel out on the check-in date due to flooding when a hurricane hit our area. I canceled the reservation hoping to get a refund. They had me back and forth between Airbnb and the host. Both insisting it was up to the other to issue refund and that I didn't qualify for a refund. At the end, they agreed to refund if we rebooked for different dates. We ended up enjoying our stay since back home we didn't have electricity, but it was stressful and crazy dealing with them. These people must be trained to have no sympathy for people's misfortunes and refuse refund no matter what. They push people to just give in and consider it a loss. You have to keep pushing and insisting if you know you're due a refund! Never again will I deal with Airbnb!
I am new to airbnb and tried to book several apartments for my trip to DC. However, all the apartments ( i wrote to 5 hosts) declined my inquiry without even a message explaining why i was declined. I am assuming hosts saw that i had no reviews on the site since i am new to it and haven't stayed at any place yet and decided to decline. There is no way to start using this site if no one accepts my inquiries. I decided then to contact listings on flipkey instead and found a great apartment that responded quickly and i am now booked for my trip.
This place must write their own reviews. This is the worst place to arrange a stay in Quito. They come on as though they are there to provide a great place - but that ends once you arrive. If there is a problem - they ignore you or won't get back to you. Much better places to stay than here - a total ripoff and Air BNB - as usual - doesn't care enough to resolve issues.
I am a host on Airbnb. They are the worst place to advertise. I can see why after reading all of the reviews. They just kept $200 of my reservation money due to my not accepting past reservations. REALLY? I get 99% of my reservation from VRBO and have never had a problem with them. I get paid immediately, not MONTHS later. I have filed multiple complaints and will put them on the local news channel here in Nashville, TN. DO NOT USE this company. OF course, I can't find a phone number to call customer service to talk to anyone... WHAT A JOKE! I have since removed my listing. They also are putting remarks on my profile that says "host cancelled reservation one day prior to reservation". This is defamation and is NOT true. I didn't cancel anything. I simply didn't accept it due to another reservation at the same time. I can't wait to call my attny on this one!...
After having a bad first experience with Airbnb, I went online and could relate to the many stories similar to mine about the lack of communication from the company. There is a lack of communication and transparency that is beyond frustrating. I was fortunate to receive a partial refund; however the company charged me fees that were over double what our daily rate was with no explanation except for fee. I got the refund because the host was not responding to Airbnb. I was expecting a refund minus the 3 days I was in the reservation. Airbnb charged me over $900 in fees with no explanation. They agreed with me that the host was in violation of their policy when Airbnb gave me some of my money back, yet they charged me fees for this awful experience. It was a terrible experience.
Buyer beware
Having to provide copies of official documents and upload them online is very uncomfortable. Website is hard to get the right settings. Language and currency. Search machine is not working nice. Communication what to do next is unclear if something is not working properly. I will never use it again.
Answer: AirBnB is the worst. You might be able to go to the resolution centre, but previous posts are correct. Watch your money with them. Once they make an error it's hard to get it back. You may have to go through the credit card you charged it to and even then the dispute process might take awhile. Hopefully, you have other money to use in the mean time or the date of your trip is at least weeks out? They are asking you to "verify your ID" so they can gain access to your linked in, Facebook and google contacts. They say it's a security measure to protect you and everyone else but it's not. They are pirating your info. They take your contacts and use it as a marketing tool for themselves or sell the contacts to other distributors. It's very common with sites like this now. If you want to continue using AirBnB you have no choice unfortunately.
Answer: Being a host, I can say that when things are going good, all is great, but if something goes wrong, as a host, you will not get the support from Airbnb that is promised. They do not stand behind their hosts, I find they like to a facade that all is great in the land of Airbnb. I have cancelled my listing and will not deal with them anymore in the future.
Answer: As a host & licensed realtor with multiple properties in both Los Angeles & Las Vegas which I book directly and also have listed with multiple vacation rental agencies, SAVE YOURSELF TIME, MONEY & AGGRAVATION by booking either DIRECTLY with the host or through other REPUTABLE Agencies, such as Roomorama.
Answer: I haven't been a host, but would certainly recommend that you read ALL the reviews here before getting involved with Airbnb. I can't think of ANY business of ANY type I would patronize that got a 1.5 star rating after 382 reviews.
Answer: They offered $25 discount of next booking I just chose to go else where
Answer: You don't. The only thing that you can be sure of is that if you have a problem Airbnb will be unreachable. They hide from dissatisfied customers and hosts alike. You are taking big chances when you deal with them. The benefits just aren't worth the risks.
Answer: No, you would be lucky and have to fight to get a refund if you cancel 1 day after you make the reservation!
Answer: Hello, First, the credit card co. Needs to be notified and will refund the amount spent. In turn, the cc co. Will backcharge. Airbnb is notorious for these types transactions and should be shutdown. Your son has learned a business lesson... research a business prior to do business!
Answer: This is the root of my problem with AIRBNB. They do not check to see if a host can legitimately rent the place they are advertising. In my experience, the host cancelled 48 hours before, claimed she was going to be evicted if she rented to me. I was only 3000 miles from home. AIRBNB offered me a 10% discount to rebook another place. I did not and will not use them again.
Answer: Susan's answer is very thorough and I agree with her. Even more important when booking places outside your country of origin to ensure you don't get a flea pit. Also, always look at the reviews, they are very important. If there is a really bad review, don't stay there. You need to check the locations online as well. You don't want to be in a bad, dangerous area... this just happened to someone staying in Philadelphia. If you have a problem, the AirBnB website is useless. Google the AirBnB customer service number from your location. Renee
