I had used it several times and it went well. However, this last time was a nightmare. Place was unsafe and misrepresented. Even though they acknowledged it at the time, when I wanted a refund, the hosts declined and airbnb didn't really do anything. It was the worse experience of my life and I travel for a living.
I received a gift card for xmas. When I tried to use it there system would not take it. I searched for a phone number and found none. I ended up writing a review on there Face Book Page and they then contacted me. They would not take my number, said it was not right. So I had to send them a PDF file with the card in it. OH Suddenly they found it. I returned from my trip to find they had over charged my account by over $152. They said they could not find the charge on my account. The lady told me she would forward it on to the next level and they would be in touch. Never heard back. I'm now reporting them to my credit card and protest the charge. Awful to deal with this company. Never ever again would I do business here. Rip of artist!
Having stayed at 12 Kilfeagan in Rostrebor co. Down Northern Ireland I can highly recommend the beautiful little house right on the Irish sea. Wide vistas, rolling hills with sheep and horses around and close enough to town with excellent restaurants!
AirBNB nightmare: my host rents out rooms of his roommates without them knowing it!
More: the apartment can't be locked, neither can the building door. The private room turned out to be a kitchen. The sheets were with dark brown spots. The apartment was visited by unknown people during the night. We left straight away in the morning. AirBNB, after long discussion, declines to issue the whole amount back. Reason: "the other side is very firm in their position".

Only been here (Sullivan's Rd, Yamba). Poor location. Council should not have approved building permits, area is one big swamp. No wifi, no internet unless you purchase Telstra sim. Even then need to move around to get signal at 3am or early morning when there is no congestion on network and risk being eaten by mosquitoes. Stay away!
Would give 0 stars if I could
Absolute s**t show, they took money for a room that never existed, taking days to provide refund, ignorant customer service facebook team, beem waiting for a 'support ambassador' whatever one of those mythical creatures is for around 72 hours ruined a potential weekend away. Will not be back under any circumstances. Trying to now borrow money to go away due to your ridiculous policies and procedures and ignorant staff. I genuinely with all of my heart hope they go bust. Not really the initial impression you want to be giving new customers I wouldn't have thought... but here we are. S***te 0/100 review.
We are superhosts who had to cease operations during the pandemic. The reactivation number we were provided by our city shows as invalid when we enter it. We have spoken with 24 Airbnb representatives over a two-month period and they go around and around and around in being unhelpful. These people are not empowered to resolve issues and simply don't care. I've never experienced anything this poor. Dealing with them is like an Orwellian nightmare--I may make a movie showing clips of the pathetic service we regularly receive. I wish I could give zero stars. Avoid this companuy at all costs.
I had a great experience in Cambria California with my hosts. Prices were fair and it seemed affordable then. Ever since then, every time we planned a trip, i found prices on airbnb to be equal or even higher than hotels. By hotels I don't mean cheap, dirty, bed bugs infested hotels. I go thru as much reviews as I can from different sites on hotels to compare wuality and price. Cleanness is important to me, more than saving a few dollars. But bnb sites in S. F., Portland, Seattle were found to he way overpriced once you factor in cleaning fees, additional fees per extra person (s), etc. Having the comfort of a "home" to yourself is important, but while on vacation, who stays indoors except for shower n sleep? I am very disappointed in how greedy the hosts are now on airbnb. Checked it our so many times last half yesr n this year for vacation plans for this summer that I think ai might not bother with airbnb anymore.
This is Airbnb response: "This is Vanessa, one of the Senior Support Ambassadors of Airbnb. I'm sending this email to give you an update with your concern.
I would like to inform you that we have tried to reach out to your host, but unfortunately, we have not received any response from him, that's being said, I'm sorry to inform you but we cannot issue any refund without getting the side of your host since the issue was only reported to us after the reservation completed.
Thanks in advance for your understanding."
Yes the Airbnb agent told me that the host claimed i broke the dishwasher (how i do not know) The dishwasher stopped working while i was there. The Airbnb agent told me that Airbnb would pay for it, if they determined it was my fault. Then weeks later Airbnb notified me that they sided with the Host. The Host only showed the dishwasher motherboard had burned out. But never explained how they think I could possibly been the cause. I am still fighting it. I removed my form of payment from the app. After this headache and absolute lie from AIRBNB, i will use hotels or another app. I have stayed at Airbnb's across Europe and liked the option of a kitchen which I don't get with a hotel. AIRBNB will never get another penny from me.
I have been hosting for Airbnb for two years. I rent out 2 luxurious penthouse ocean view suites in Costa Rica. I've never canceled a reservation, I have fulfilled all the requirements for a super host, yet the Airbnb system, riddled with glitches and inaccuracies, continues to rob me of my superhost status. On multiple occasions I've tried to contact customer support only to be transferred endlessly… That's if I actually get a human being on the phone… Only to discover it's a complete waste of time. What kind of company slaps the faces of the highest performing sales associates? Recent studies show superhosts receive more perks, more business, more access… And after having researched my situation I've discovered I'm not alone. Many other hoes have the exact same complaint. Get your act together Airbnb! Don't bite the hand that feeds you.
I never thought that this Airbnb website was a fraud. We planned a vacation in Denver CO and booked a house for 6 adults and a 2 year old. Due to weather conditions we never got to Denver. We left Orlando to Houston and from Houston we didn't get out because of bad weather in the North. The best option was to cancel the reservation and return to Orlando FL since that was the only weekend available to everyone. The cost of the reservation for 3 nights was $ 545.92 dollars my daughter called to cancel and they only returned $ 65.00 dollars. It is a robbery in broad daylight, we called to know why I only returned $65 dollars if we had explained the situation and their response was that they only returned the money if they had closed the airport completely or if by hospitalization. This is a scam, we can't change the reservation for another month of January 2020 to March 2020 because we already canceled it... Tell me if this is not a scam. From my it's first and last time they rob us.
I don't know how the government allows a company like this to operate; I will never do business with them ever again. They are stealing people money. Watch out it may happen to you. It's happened to me and my son. They stole $1,285 without my approal and I did not step foot in the of Airbnb. I made a reservation and tried to cancel it few hours later due to death in the family, and the refuse to refund my money. Attached a proof of my reservation please scroll down.
Airbnb is acting reclessy and selfishly, siding with guest and giving them 100% refund wh eek they cancel they trip even though we have policies that we agree upon in contrary. We totally understand the circumstances but a different approach should ve been found and not all the burden on Hosts.
And to make things worse, they don't care... but they forget that without our houses and work they would not have a business.
Many people complained, including me but no one replied.
So soon I'll be listing my house somewhere else but I'm considering first to make a lot of noise as this attitude can't go unpunished and unnoticed! A Class action it's on table, just need people to come forward.
Beware. They don't give a darn about the hosts. Hosts take all the risks. They make their money on both ends, and thats all they care about. Some of their supposed verified guests are $#*! roaches that don't give a darn about your property either. Most guests are good, but all it takes is one bad apple, and their million dollar protection is a joke too. There is no protection for hosts.
I was pickpocket 710 euro during the night at hotel Han, Istanbul at Fatih / Sultanahmed area.
Totally unsecured hotel. Afterwards i read 2 - 3 same reviews from other sites, but not on Airbnb. The site didn't try to do anything about it, or somehow check this information, but erased my review
I would give 0 stars if it was allowed. We booked a trip to Quebec City for 4 nights during the July 4th weekend way back in May.
The day before our trip I was informed by Airbnb that the host had canceled the reservation. There was no reason given. We were travelling with our dog and the other accommodations they offered to us did not allow pets. Of course, there were very few options available since it was at the last minute. Airbnb should delist such hosts, but I still see that property still listed on their site.
We had taken time off from our jobs and planned for this trip in advance, but it all came to naught due to the unreliability of Airbnb. We would have been much better off booking a suite in a pet friendly hotel chain which at least provides the security of honoring their reservations.
Book with Airbnb at your own peril knowing that your carefully planned vacation can get ruined through last minute cancellations.
Hi,
I booked my weeks vacation back on January 15,2018. I was really looking forward to my week at the beach on June 3,2018.
Yesterday I received an email from them canceling my booking with no explanation and leaving me scrambling for new accommodations.
Very unprofessional.

Unfortunately, while Airbnb is one of the biggest vacation rental sites in the world, it also caters to the renter more than the homeowner. In several occasions rents were refunded to the renters without due process on behalf of the owner or property manager. Despite having signed rental agreements with guests, and despite having the guests break the terms of the rental agreements, Airbnb always sides with the guests, and can return rents at will.
Be cautious!
Lost my 118 dollars by dealing with these guys!
Their policies are extremely anti customer oriented and almost always hide something. Basically day light robery.
I had a booking with them that allowed me free cancellation untill Dec 13 and as soon as I booked another place on Dec 09, their cancellation Policy suddenly changed to deduct their service fees on the previous booking with free cancellation without any notice.
There is no number to call, and the so called CS chat lead me to be asked to read more of their biased policies... basically I paid twice to them in service fees to stay just once.
Very bad experience... enough to never come back to the again.
Do yourself a favor and stay clear of Air BNB... deal with reputed booking services... the extra coin is worth it!
Answer: AirBnB is the worst. You might be able to go to the resolution centre, but previous posts are correct. Watch your money with them. Once they make an error it's hard to get it back. You may have to go through the credit card you charged it to and even then the dispute process might take awhile. Hopefully, you have other money to use in the mean time or the date of your trip is at least weeks out? They are asking you to "verify your ID" so they can gain access to your linked in, Facebook and google contacts. They say it's a security measure to protect you and everyone else but it's not. They are pirating your info. They take your contacts and use it as a marketing tool for themselves or sell the contacts to other distributors. It's very common with sites like this now. If you want to continue using AirBnB you have no choice unfortunately.
Answer: Being a host, I can say that when things are going good, all is great, but if something goes wrong, as a host, you will not get the support from Airbnb that is promised. They do not stand behind their hosts, I find they like to a facade that all is great in the land of Airbnb. I have cancelled my listing and will not deal with them anymore in the future.
Answer: As a host & licensed realtor with multiple properties in both Los Angeles & Las Vegas which I book directly and also have listed with multiple vacation rental agencies, SAVE YOURSELF TIME, MONEY & AGGRAVATION by booking either DIRECTLY with the host or through other REPUTABLE Agencies, such as Roomorama.
Answer: I haven't been a host, but would certainly recommend that you read ALL the reviews here before getting involved with Airbnb. I can't think of ANY business of ANY type I would patronize that got a 1.5 star rating after 382 reviews.
Answer: They offered $25 discount of next booking I just chose to go else where
Answer: You don't. The only thing that you can be sure of is that if you have a problem Airbnb will be unreachable. They hide from dissatisfied customers and hosts alike. You are taking big chances when you deal with them. The benefits just aren't worth the risks.
Answer: No, you would be lucky and have to fight to get a refund if you cancel 1 day after you make the reservation!
Answer: Hello, First, the credit card co. Needs to be notified and will refund the amount spent. In turn, the cc co. Will backcharge. Airbnb is notorious for these types transactions and should be shutdown. Your son has learned a business lesson... research a business prior to do business!
Answer: This is the root of my problem with AIRBNB. They do not check to see if a host can legitimately rent the place they are advertising. In my experience, the host cancelled 48 hours before, claimed she was going to be evicted if she rented to me. I was only 3000 miles from home. AIRBNB offered me a 10% discount to rebook another place. I did not and will not use them again.
Answer: Susan's answer is very thorough and I agree with her. Even more important when booking places outside your country of origin to ensure you don't get a flea pit. Also, always look at the reviews, they are very important. If there is a really bad review, don't stay there. You need to check the locations online as well. You don't want to be in a bad, dangerous area... this just happened to someone staying in Philadelphia. If you have a problem, the AirBnB website is useless. Google the AirBnB customer service number from your location. Renee
Airbnb has a rating of 1.5 stars from 2,084 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Airbnb most frequently mention customer service, credit card and full refund. Airbnb ranks 441st among Hotels sites.
