Many issues, Don't know where to start I'm on hold right now waiting for supervisor as associate would not authenticate my account (30 minutes cell time). In the past 3 days our calendar on one of our properties has mysteriously changed so that blocked dates have become open and a 7 day minimum has changed to 3 without intervention from us. Now today i cant even log into the callenders. Issues like this disappoint our guests and make us look like we don't know what we are doing. We are considering pulling all our listings at the end of this summer. Seems like the owners of Airbnb are too busy travelling, buying yachts, jets, sports cars and luxury homes and avoiding issues that will kill this business. A fine opening for a competitor!
Best website for travelers. You can find apartments everywhere in the world. The prices are usually better than on booking or other websites.
Also you can get up to $45 discount creating a new account with my invite link: bit.ly/airbnb99
We booked accommodation that was described as "very clean" and "mold-free". Upon check-in we found a property absolutely filthy, full of mold, dead bugs on the floor, cobwebs, dirt. We immediately notified Airbnb who initially agreed we could leave the property and cancel the booking. However, it has now been 3 months and they are refusing to refund the $16,000 we are owed! They keep making new excuses for why the refund hasn't gone through yet, they are effectively stealing our money! It is a daylight robbery and they are getting away with it! A major lawsuit should be brought against these thieves, so many people have been scammed like this!
Until the last three stays. Hosts are misrepresenting their offerings. E.g., dirty, no parking when they say just the opposite. Last one was uninhabitable because it was too hot inside the premises - the host had all the windows locked shut. From now on I'll travel less, use budget motels and find hostels to stay at. For the amount of time and effort involved in securing a decent airbnb space it just isn't worth it. And airbnb doesn't remedy misrepresentations or properly refund guest charges when they should. They give you a number to call in the event of a problem but these people airbnb agents you talk to are apparently incentivized not to offer any solutions that would cost them $$ - they just like to talk. And agents contradict each other and don't follow thru on resolution promises.
Here is the last email I sent to Airbnb,
Thank you for your help. I am sorry that it come to this. But it is for the best, for me and my family. I would never endanger my family or let my property be used for a "pot house" illegal activity. It is sad to learn that Airbnb would expect their Host to accommodate guest that all criminals and break the Law. I will be sure to rate Airbnb on Google and any other site that has a ratings review and tell as many people as I know about Airbnb Policy to Block Host and allow guest to smoke drugs in on the Host's property. Please Do Not send me anymore Emails or Text. My account is Blocked, why can I still Login? Why does Airbnb insist on sending me Unsolicited Communications? Again, Do Not Contact me for any reason. Consider this a Cease and Desist.
We were booked with host, Esteban in Fort Myers, 2/17-24. Esteban cancelled 1/20. Less than 1 month notice. Can not find anything comperable in price or quality. Contacted Airbnb every way possible. I called, Willow, was rude and dismissive. She sent two messages, to which I promptly responded. Was told case was forwarded. No further correspondence. Case was closed.
They expect me to be satisfied that my money was refunded. SERIOUSLY?! I did nothing wrong.
Plane tickets for multiple legs of trip and rental cars. No place to stay.
No way to leave negative feedback for Esteban.
I recently cancelled a Christmas stay in Kihei Hawaii due to family financial issues. I gave four months notice. I was only refunded half of my $1200 deposit due the hosts (Joe) strict cancellation police which is backed by Air bnb. Also the host had the time period we had rented within two days from the date of cancellation. I feel violated and ripped off. If you are silly enough to use this convoluted travel site be sure to find and read their cancellation policy's to avoid any disappointment and aggravations
I was supposed to be given an 800£ refund and I wasn't. Tried to get in contact with Airbnb and have always been told I'd be called at the most convenient times for them. Every time there was another operator who had to explain everything from the beginning. After 4 months I gave up.
Please stay away, if anything happens you lose your money. There is no customer service.
It was so nice to receive an email that due to the Covid 19 vacation home stay bans in FLA that they would cancel and fully refund my reservation. I did not need to do a thing. Also I have always had great experiences using Airbnb.
I have never encountered worse customer service... They were horrific to deal with and so unhelpful just frustrating the whole time. If you want for someone to recite the policies over and over again to you and have nothing else to say then do call them. They only care about hosts so if you are a user that sucks for you. I hope a competitor comes along and crushes them because this was laughable and so $#*!ing frustrating... I wanted to bang my head in the wall talking to them.
Highly disappointed with Airbnb's services. I tried requesting 7 different houses for my vacation. They have either 48 or 24 hours to respond. Every single one declined me for flaky reason. It took over a week for someone to accept my booking request. Once this happen a week later the host canceled my reservations. All Airbnb did was give me $100 credit and when you try to talk to there customer service, it's nearly impossible. Did I mention they take your total cost for your place you choose directly out of your bank account within a day, but when you ask for it to be refunded it takes 5 - 6 business days. Now I have to wait for a couple thousand dollars to come bank into my bank account before I can look for another place elsewhere. Airbnb completely wasted my time and energy. I will stick with vrbo in the future. I've never had problems with their service.
Worst rip off ever…. Inexistent customer services. Booked a villa in Bahamas and received an email from Airbnb concerning a possible fraud scam. Cancelled immediately the booking simply to find out that I will only be reimbursed 50% of the price, where the host does not want to show good faith. Lost 3000$ on a fraud scam. Tried numerous times to contact Airbnb only to talk to a kid which has no clue. Awful experience and should avoid at ALL COSTS….
I am very disappointed with this website and the services the employees offer. For over 3 weeks I have had a problem with my account where the pricing comes up as $90 per month when I charge about $2300 a month. It is very frustrating as I am loosing possible interested clients and getting an overwhelming amount of inquiries. I called many times to get this fixed, was put on hold for over 30 minutes at a time and was hung up on numerous amounts of times. From a big company like that it was simply garbage customer service. When asked to speak to a manager - he was disgustingly rude on the phone and also hung up on me. Now - going on almost a month of pricing not working - they still haven't fixed it or I haven't gotten a call back. Very disappointed with this website. I loved this website prior to this.
Airbnb does not protect the homeowner. It appears they are main focus is just to rent for either side, and if there is a problem, they do not follow through. They also do not collect a deposit, so you're really gambling when allowing people to stay without a deposit collected up front. I had 2 guests cause damage in my home. The first one we were able to get a a little compensation, but the second nothing. Airbnb blamed it on me saying I did not submit appropriate documentation in time which is completely false. I did exactly what the Airbnb representative told me to do the day the incident happened. I will be canceling my account with them because my investment is too important to take a risk by allowing Airbnb to book my home, collect their fees and hope for the best.
Appalling customer service. You are expected to call the US from everywhere else in the world.
In addition when I had a problem and needed the move accommodation (apartment was in the middle of a construction site starting at 6am but no mention in the listing) I was put on hold for 30 mins and then told someone would contact me but 8 hours later nothing.
Quite clearly this is an organisation led by profit not customer service.
I will not be booking again with AirBnB and will strongly advise anyone else to avoid it. At least hotels are reliable, consistent, you know the bed won't be impossible to sleep in, the paint won't be peeling off the ceiling, and in this case drilling at 6am - at least a reputable hotel would warn you.
My calendar is booked for the entire summer. Suddenly I get a booking from a family with children in the middle of days that were blocked for months. After 3 hours online and phone with AirBnB agents ofer 2 days, the issue was not resolved and they forced me to decline the tenant 10 minutes before the request expired. This is not the first time (actually 3d) that I am unable to resolve anything by talking to their staff and supervisors. Totally incompetent service!
Too bad it is so popular, if there would be a choice, I would quit yesterday!
I have VRBO listing and am fully satisfied with their performance.
Website looks good (has a "fresh" look), is easy to use thanks to the interactive map (will show only properties in the area you are zooming in if you check the box in the top left corner).
Client service was very reactive to my questions and worries (it was the first time I was booking through it) and proposed a discount on the property when it appeared it had a (minor) problem compared to what was initially advertised.
And of course you save money compared to hotels!
I recommend!
Buyer beware cancellation policy has 4 different versions. Regardless of what the promo tells you they renigged on the refund and stated the host(Trudy Cozy Kona Kai retreat) goes by the firm. Mean while she is sending me messages telling me I should get a refund and differed all back to AirBnB which then lies to you. Sad how they make you select 1
Star as a
Minimum. Airbnb as changed through out Covid. Not a good business model now.
Don't fall for the scam. I was able to get my money back but that's because I filed a dispute with my bank!

I contacted both hosts through the app to request a refund as I didn't stay at either place, one due to misinformation & one by mistake. Both refused my request. Due to this I am out of over $552.94 for issues that should have been resolved quickly. I've contacted Airbnb over 25+ times regarding this matter & I'm constantly advised that the matter is with the resolutions department level 2 and my case manager (Schaun D.) will contact me within 48 hours – which never happen two months later.
This is unacceptable as there is no accountability with their managers/resolutions department & Reps are LYING to customers!
Answer: AirBnB is the worst. You might be able to go to the resolution centre, but previous posts are correct. Watch your money with them. Once they make an error it's hard to get it back. You may have to go through the credit card you charged it to and even then the dispute process might take awhile. Hopefully, you have other money to use in the mean time or the date of your trip is at least weeks out? They are asking you to "verify your ID" so they can gain access to your linked in, Facebook and google contacts. They say it's a security measure to protect you and everyone else but it's not. They are pirating your info. They take your contacts and use it as a marketing tool for themselves or sell the contacts to other distributors. It's very common with sites like this now. If you want to continue using AirBnB you have no choice unfortunately.
Answer: Being a host, I can say that when things are going good, all is great, but if something goes wrong, as a host, you will not get the support from Airbnb that is promised. They do not stand behind their hosts, I find they like to a facade that all is great in the land of Airbnb. I have cancelled my listing and will not deal with them anymore in the future.
Answer: As a host & licensed realtor with multiple properties in both Los Angeles & Las Vegas which I book directly and also have listed with multiple vacation rental agencies, SAVE YOURSELF TIME, MONEY & AGGRAVATION by booking either DIRECTLY with the host or through other REPUTABLE Agencies, such as Roomorama.
Answer: I haven't been a host, but would certainly recommend that you read ALL the reviews here before getting involved with Airbnb. I can't think of ANY business of ANY type I would patronize that got a 1.5 star rating after 382 reviews.
Answer: They offered $25 discount of next booking I just chose to go else where
Answer: You don't. The only thing that you can be sure of is that if you have a problem Airbnb will be unreachable. They hide from dissatisfied customers and hosts alike. You are taking big chances when you deal with them. The benefits just aren't worth the risks.
Answer: No, you would be lucky and have to fight to get a refund if you cancel 1 day after you make the reservation!
Answer: Hello, First, the credit card co. Needs to be notified and will refund the amount spent. In turn, the cc co. Will backcharge. Airbnb is notorious for these types transactions and should be shutdown. Your son has learned a business lesson... research a business prior to do business!
Answer: This is the root of my problem with AIRBNB. They do not check to see if a host can legitimately rent the place they are advertising. In my experience, the host cancelled 48 hours before, claimed she was going to be evicted if she rented to me. I was only 3000 miles from home. AIRBNB offered me a 10% discount to rebook another place. I did not and will not use them again.
Answer: Susan's answer is very thorough and I agree with her. Even more important when booking places outside your country of origin to ensure you don't get a flea pit. Also, always look at the reviews, they are very important. If there is a really bad review, don't stay there. You need to check the locations online as well. You don't want to be in a bad, dangerous area... this just happened to someone staying in Philadelphia. If you have a problem, the AirBnB website is useless. Google the AirBnB customer service number from your location. Renee
Airbnb has a rating of 1.4 stars from 2,085 reviews, indicating that most customers are generally dissatisfied with their purchases. Reviewers dissatisfied with Airbnb most frequently mention customer service, credit card and full refund. Airbnb ranks 442nd among Hotels sites.
